Title: Treasure Isle In Dub
Label: JAMAICAN RECORDINGS (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: JR 019CD
"Treasure Isle Studio's, 33 Bond Street, was one of the main contenders to the Studio 1 crown. So many hits came from its wooded loft premises that it seemed every track was destined to become a hit, propelled by the Trojan himself, Mr Duke Reid. Duke Reid was a formidable character in the music business. Like Coxsone Dodd at Studio 1 he would travel to America to acquire the latest cuts. But this was proving more difficult due to America's tastes moving on to Rock & Roll, which was not so popular in Jamaica. The obvious step was to record their own tunes to supply the demand. For this collection we have put together a set of rare dubs recorded at the legendary studio. Such classics as 'Queen Majesty', Alton Ellis's 'I'm Just a Guy', The Ethiopians 'Everything Crash'. All great tunes and classic rhythms, the atmosphere and the guidance of the seasoned engineers Byron Smith and Syd Bucknor alongside the top musicians, set the tone for these classic lost till now recordings. Arthur 'Duke' Reid died in 1974 but his legacy lives on through the music. His Treasure Isle Studio's, inspiring all that used it. Musicians include: Carlton 'Santa' Davis, Sly Dunbar, Aston Barrett, Robbie Shakespeare, Earl 'Chinna' Smith, Tony Chin, Ansel Collins, Winston Wright, Bobby Ellis, Tommy McCook. Produced by Bunny Lee."

Format: CD
Price: $18.00
Catalog #: JR 025CD
"Prince Jammy would soon be crowned King Jammy, as the 1970s rolled into the dancehall 80s. But during this period we should also remember what an innovator Jammy was in the field of dub. Jammy's early recordings from the 1970s were so precise they are often mistaken for digital sound recordings, which he later became famous for in the 80s. On Dub Explosion we have 14 crystal clear dubs which we hope will stand up next to his other classic albums, such as Prince Jammy In A Lion Dub Style, In The Light Dub, and Fatman Riddim Section's Killer Dub."

Title: Meet The Aggrovators At Joe Gibbs
Label: JAMAICAN RECORDINGS (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $18.00
Catalog #: JR 026CD
"The unsung heroes in the history of Jamaican music can be traced back to the musicians who cut the 1000s upon 1000s of tracks that we know and love today. In some cases the musicians would overlap and be involved in more than one project at the same time. A prime example would be the band who were called The Professionals when Joe Gibbs recorded them and The Aggrovators when Bunny Lee did. So two band names, two producers, one engineer (Errol 'E.T.' Thompson) and one agender. Some of the finest dubs around, The Professionals Meet The Aggrovators At Joe Gibbs in fine form... "

Title: Dynamic Dubbing At Dynamic Sounds
Label: JAMAICAN RECORDINGS (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $18.00
Catalog #: JR 027CD
"Dynamic Sounds Studio has its roots firmly set in Jamaica's history. It was the first state-of-the-art studio built in Kingston and a firm favorite with all the top flight homespun artists. Bob Marley chose to record the bulk of his seminal Catch A Fire album there. The studio has become part of the Jamaican culture and each twist and turn in its musical story has been caught and recorded here. We get on board when the music had slowed down to the reggae skank we now know and love and have picked some fine cuts that we feel best represent the times. The rhythms are pushed to the fore and the great Sylvan Morris, a much underrated studio master, always came up with some interesting effects to enhance the versions."

Title: At The Controls Of Dub: Rare Dubs 1979-1980
Label: JAMAICAN RECORDINGS (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $19.00
Catalog #: JR 029CD
"Scientist's name will be found on many dub releases in people's record collections. His connection to King Tubby is inseparable and many would say that when dub had fallen on quieter times, it was Scientist who breathed new life into it. His paired down mixing style suited the new dancehall reggae sound that came as the '70s rolled into the '80s. Such was his stature that albums were now sold with his name on their jacket, Scientist vs. Prince Jammy and Scientist Meets The Space Invaders to name but two. Here Jamaican Recordings have compiled some tuff tracks from that same period, before everything went digital. Hope you enjoy the set."
