CASHMORE, MICHAEL
Title:
The Snow Abides
Label:
JNANA (CANADA)
Format:
LP
Price:
$19.00
Catalog #:
DJ 002LP
"Michael Cashmore (currently of Current 93/ex-Nature & Organization) follows up his well received debut CD from 2006 (
Sleep England
) with a brand new 5 track mini album. In stark contrast to the entirely instrumental album,
The Snow Abides
mixes fully orchestrated music composed by Mr. Cashmore with lyrics and texts specially written by David Tibet and sung by Antony Hegarty of Antony & The Johnsons. The results are as lush, celebratory and melancholy as you could hope for. This will be of particular interest to Antony & The Johnsons' fans, as this is Antony's first new material since 2005's Mercury award-winning
I Am A Bird Now
which catapulted him into the hearts and minds of the mainstream. Beautiful snow-white colored heavy-weight vinyl also includes an extra B-side 'untitled' track that is specially cut into the center of the disc."

Title:
The Inmost Light
Label:
JNANA (CANADA)
Format:
2LP
Price:
$26.00
Catalog #:
DJ 033LP
"Durtro Jnana are proud to announce the release of one of Current 93's most ambitious and enduring projects:
The Inmost Light
trilogy. Originally issued in 1995/1996, this set, which originally announced itself as being 'Hallucinatory Patripassianist Song' reissues in their entirety the mini-albums
Where The Long Shadows Fall
and
The Stars Are Marching Sadly Home
, as well as the full length
All The Pretty Little Horses
. Current 93 became David Tibet, Steven Stapleton, Michael Cashmore and Joolie Wood for this album. Guest vocalists included Nick Cave, Jhonn Balance of Coil, Andria Degens of Pantaleimon and Shirley Collins. This series was inspired by such visionaries as painter Louis Wain and author Thomas Ligotti (to whom a track was dedicated), nursery singsongs and Christian heresies (most notably Patripassianism, otherwise known as Trinitarian heresy). In Current 93's hands, the traditional lullaby that lends the album its title, sparks an explosive torrent of bittersweet childhood memories and apocalyptic prophecies. The musical setting for Tibet's narrative is exquisite, kaleidoscopic music composed with twelve-string guitar, piano, string arrangements, flutes, bells, massed drones, children's voices and ecstatic recitations. A powerful and extremely moving listening experience."

Of Ruine Or Some Blazing Starre
. Originally released in 1994,
Of Ruine...

Thunder Perfect Mind
album and marks another leap forward in the sound of Current 93. The gorgeously delicate guitar of Michael Cashmore augmented by drones, bells and sound manipulations make this one of Current's most hypnotic albums musically with the vocals and text of David Tibet adding a quietly controlled power and drama which is virtually unsurpassed in the canon of the band. This reissue has been remastered and features newly designed artwork in a full color digipack with a 20-page booklet."

"Pantaleimon (pronounced 'Pan-ta-lay-mon') is the adopted moniker of vocalist and composer Andria Degens. Sometimes collaborating with friends, though often alone, she creates beautifully haunting and meditative music.
Cloudburst
, her first recording as Pantaleimon since 2002's
Change My World
, features four tracks of hypnotic vocal passages that together form a long conceptual piece, which, Degens says, '
...is symbolic of the journey every human being makes in a lifetime... the transformation, transfiguration, the state of being, the space between heaven and Earth.
' Initially packaged with a limited, hand-printed edition of Degens's poetry and drawings,
Cloudburst
is now available as a proper CD release."

FAY GROUP, BILL
Title:
Tomorrow, Tomorrow and Tomorrrow
Label:
JNANA (CANADA)
Format:
CD
Price:
$15.00
Catalog #:
JNANA 1976CD
"With the renewed interest in Bill Fay's past work, the reissue of his first two albums,
Bill Fay
and
Time Of The Last Persecution
, and recently made-available pre-Decca demos (
From The Bottom Of An Old Grandfather Clock
), it's surprising to discover that twenty new songs have remained unreleased for over two decades. Fay has been portrayed as a mysterious figure who somehow created two brilliant albums and then vanished. But as Fay himself has said,
'It wasn't me who left the music, it was the music business that left me.'
With no contract or record company support, he continued to write, rehearse and play occasional shows, which is how he met, in 1977, guitarist Gary Smith, electric and bowed bass-player, Rauf Galip, and drummer Bill Stratton -- also known as improvising trio The Acme Quartet. A mutual interest in and respect for each other's work led to the decision to collaborate as The Bill Fay Group.
Tomorrow, Tomorrow And Tomorrow
continues Fay's tradition of writing thoughtful, life-affirming songs that, this time, benefit from extended studio sessions and input from three equally committed musicians. This CD does not consist of demos, outtakes or 'alternative' versions of previously recorded songs. It was planned and recorded as Fay's followup to
Time Of The Last Persecution
. It is The Bill Fay Group's third, previously unreleased, album, recorded between 1978 and 1981."

CONNELLY, CHRIS
Title:
The Episodes
Label:
JNANA (CANADA)
Format:
CD
Price:
$16.00
Catalog #:
JNANA 1984CD
"Durtro Jnana are pleased to announce the release of the new CD by Chris Connelly --
The Episodes
. A native Scotsman, former member of Ministry and The Revolting Cocks and founding member of Fini Tribe, Connelly has collaborated with Cabaret Voltaire, Killing Joke, Robert Fripp and Jah Wobble, among many others. After fronting some of the era's most popular and influential industrial acts, he embarked on a very unique solo career in the early '90s. His music, drawing on orch-pop, glam, and classic singer-songwriter influences, has been compared to the likes of David Bowie, Scott Walker, and Robert Wyatt.
The Episodes
, Connelly's eighth full-length solo work, was produced by Joan of Arc's Tim Kinsella and Town & Country's Ben Vida. The album is timeless and unique with radical arrangements and a crack band culled from Califone, Joan of Arc, Town & Country, US Maple and other Chicago jazz and improv luminaries."

JNANA 2001CD
"United Jnana's Nurse With Wound reissue series continues. Similar in spirit to Gavin Bryars's
The Sinking of the Titanic
, the album's sixty-plus-minute title track delves deep into the themes of unknown darkness and ultimate demise. Recorded in 2002 by Steven Stapleton and electronic studio wizard Colin Potter, this is a landmark recording in the field of contemporary electronic music. Restored here to its hour-plus running time, the music becomes much more of a foreground-listening experience. Orchestral-like chords flutter back and forth like ships lost at sea while the sounds of passing cars, boat horns, and creaking doors slowly gather momentum in the background. At around the fifty-minute mark all the extraneous sounds are cut short, leaving only the droning chords and the sound of water. It's a stunning effect and quite different than the dense maximalism of earlier albums."

JNANA 2112CD
"
Black Ships Ate The Sky
, Current 93's long awaited new studio album, is a 76-minute opus exploring David Tibet's vision of the apocalypse as wrought by the ominous Black Ships. For his latest studio enterprise, Tibet assembled perhaps the band's strongest line-up ever. Longtime C93 collaborator Steven Stapleton (Nurse With Wound) is joined by guitarist Michael Cashmore, cellist John Contreras, ambient sound composer William Basinski, William Breeze (Coil), Seattle artist Amy Phillips and newest member Ben Chasny (Six Organs Of Admittance). The album also features contributions from an impressive array of vocal talent: Marc Almond (Soft Cell), Antony (Antony And The Johnsons), Bonnie 'Prince' Billy, British folk legend Shirley Collins, Clodagh Simonds (Mellow Candle), Cosey Fanni Tutti (Throbbing Gristle), and Durtro label mates Baby Dee and Pantaleimon."
