"Originally British but now relocated to Germany, Gez Varley gained fame in the early 1990s as the other half of the seminal electronic duo LFO. Despite its huge influence, Gez left LFO in the mid-'90s to concentrate on his solo projects, which stylistically have varied from minimal techno to tech-house. Not only recording under his own name, Gez has also been behind the artist aliases G-Man and *g*, and run record labels called G and GMR. Now Keys of Life Records proudly presents Shon, Gez Varley's latest twelve-inch masterpiece with four tracks: 'Raw,' 'Nemesis,' 'Purge' and 'Shon.' "Keys of Life continues with its series of releases paying tribute to the sound of acid house, which was spawned in the 1980s Chicago when such inventors as Phuture and DJ Pierre discovered the squelching and mind-expanding sounds of Roland's TB-303 bass synthesizer; the invention which eventually had serious repercussions in dance music culture all over the world. Tin Man aka Johannes Auvinen is of Finnish descent, having lived all his life in Los Angeles. Tin Man says his tracks relate to the history and mood of acid house, calling them just 'simple dance songs, with an emphasis on the bassline slowly changing'..."
