"Another killer from the MG77 crew -- this one's been getting lots of attention on the forums and, by the evidence of the debut 12" from Darkstar, looks set to become a bit of a club staple. Darkstar's remix of Zomby's 'Memories' spreads out on the A-side with another Various Production-style reworking of midnight dub into a widescreen soundtrack augmented by a mighty wobbly bassline and an evocative riff Ennio Morricone would be proud of. Brilliant stuff. 'Saytar' on the flipside is more breezy and tweaked for a more primal dancefloor experience -- it's hard to get away from those Various comparisons because the sound palette here is so varied, but there's a self-reflective quality to these tracks that almost makes you forget that the bassline is heavy enough to uproot most buildings.
