Title: Zug
Label: M=MINIMAL (GERMANY)
Format: LP
Price: $15.50
Catalog #: MINIMAL 001LP
Repressed. Conrad Schnitzler's Zug is one of the most important and one of the first electronic minimalist works that was published in the 1970s. Almost simultaneously with Kraftwerk's groundbreaking Autobahn, "Zug" appeared on the legendary The Red Cassette (1973). The Wire magazine wrote about Zug: "Kraftwerk might have used similar methods to create rhythm but three decades on, it still sounds like the future." As an original member of Tangerine Dream (1969-1970) and a founding member of Kluster, Conrad Schnitzler is a creator of milestones in the history of electronic popular music. This release is rounded off with remixes by Con (1978) fan Stefan Betke aka Pole and Borngräber & Strüver. Pole and Kassian Troyer (Radian) have mastered the record, so the best quality is guaranteed.

Title: Água
Label: M=MINIMAL (GERMANY)
Format: LP
Price: $15.50
Catalog #: MINIMAL 002LP
The second release by the M=minimal label is the rediscovery of a musical jewel. The first limited edition of this extraordinary album was released in 1984 in Brazil. In the '80s in the field of minimal music, nothing similar to it was released and it was long overdue to make this record accessible again. Imagine the scene: Caetano Veloso and Jim O'Rourke collaborating on Brazilian-flecked minimal pieces. The result might sound like this recording. Chico Mello is a Brazilian composer who studied with Dieter Schnebel and Witold Szalonek and who has lived and worked in Berlin for 20 years. His works have been played at the most important festivals of contemporary/new music (Donaueschingen Music Festival, Musica Viva München, Inventionen Berlin, Maerz Musik, International de Musique Electroacoustique de Bourges, France, Festival Música Nova São Paulo, Bienal de Música Contemporânea Rio de Janeiro, etc.). Mello has also worked with colleagues such as Arnold Dreyblatt, Daniel Ott, and Burkhard Schlotthauer's Wandelweiser ensemble. Currently, he is working with Nicholas Bussmann (Kapital Band I/Ich Schwitze Nie) on a Brazilian song cycle. This album has been mastered at ~scape mastering studio, Berlin.

Artist: BORNGRABER & STRUVER
Title: In G
Label: M=MINIMAL (GERMANY)
Format: LP
Price: $15.50
Catalog #: MINIMAL 003LP
"21st century electronic Krautrock" is perhaps the best description for the album In G, on which Berlin's Borngräber & Strüver skillfully recombine the influences of motorik Kraut and the achievements of minimal techno to their own musical statements. There is no trance bliss or party sound, only condensed musical statements. It was in 1999 when Borngräber & Strüver met at Ninetynine Records in Berlin. Since then, they have worked together on musical projects. Their first release EP on the UK label Blue Juice polarized many and was soon followed by remixes for artists like A Guy Called Gerald and Beth Hirsch. Their debut album Transcontinental featured dark Blade Runner-inspired atmospheres and fine electro beats meeting dub effects and surprising breaks. On this album, Borngräber & Strüver blend guitars, vocals and horns in a particular way, almost evoking a hidden soundtrack for your mental cinema.

Title: Ballet Statique (Con)
Label: M=MINIMAL (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $23.50
Catalog #: MINIMAL 004CD
M=Minimal released the vinyl of this classic record last year and as the CD has been unavailable for a long time, too, the label decided to make a special edition. Ballet Statique by Conrad Schnitzler, was originally released in 1978 and recorded at the legendary Paragon Studio, Berlin. This album was first released as Con. The name Ballet Statique was only chosen for a re-release and it was not the idea of the artists to rename it. So M=Minimal decided to give its old name back. This special edition comes with a cardboard slipbox with Ballet Statique on it. If you take off the slipbox, you hold Con in your hands. Also included is a 24-page booklet with photographs and liner notes by Wolfgang "Sequenza" Seidel, Conrad Schnitzler's long-time musical partner. As a bonus track, a copy of the "Red Cassette" is included. On one stereo channel you hear the rhythm part; on the other, the synth track, one side of the cassette on each channel. This more-than 30 minutes' long version has never been re-released before. The cardboard slipbox edition is strictly limited to 1,000 copies.

Label: M=MINIMAL (GERMANY)
Format: LP
Price: $15.50
Catalog #: MINIMAL 004LP
Repressed! M=Minimal continues their collaboration with electronic music legend Conrad Schnitzler, and presents after 30 years, the re-release of one of the key works from Conrad's large, adventurous back catalog. Ballet Statique is not only a musical milestone but also a highlight of music production. It was recorded in 1978 at the legendary Paragon Studio, Berlin by Tangerine Dream's Peter Baumann in the same period when other masterworks like Cluster's Großes Wasser and solo recordings by Roedelius and Asmus Tietchens were recorded. Ballet Statique was first released on the German Paragon label, under the original title Con (also issued on legendary French label Egg). This album is a must-have, and not only for fans of Emeralds and Oneohtrix Point Never.

Artist: BORNGRABER & STRUVER
Title: Urlaub
Label: M=MINIMAL (GERMANY)
Format: LP
Price: $15.50
Catalog #: MINIMAL 005LP
After their very well-received 2010 work In G, Borngräber & Strüver have not been resting on their laurels. Here, they extend the concept of "21th century electro motorik Kraut" on the album Urlaub and added their preference for disco music. As a friend of the label said: "'Reise' sounds like a composition for the 20th birthday of Carl Craig's Planet E." Borngräber & Strüver have consistently worked on developing their minimalist compositions without taking into consideration conventions. The nearly 17-minute "Reise" that starts with extreme restraint, grows into a groovy trip you can hardly escape. "Berlin Tribal Music" has a radically minimalist approach and a surprising break that sounds like a portal to a parallel dimension. The last part of the album "Dancing Queen" has nothing to do with ABBA -- the piece is a missing link between electronic h-pop and groovy club sounds.

Artist: KREUZBERG
Title: Kreuzberg
Label: M=MINIMAL (GERMANY)
Format: LP
Price: $15.50
Catalog #: MINIMAL 006LP
Kreuzberg is the project of drummer and composer Andreas Peters and DJ Jens Strüver (Borngräber & Strüver, J.R. Plankton). In their childhood they played in the same football club somewhere in West Germany and met again 20 years later in Kreuzberg/Berlin. They realized that in their lives music always played an important role and as their interests in musical styles were highly compatible, they created the project Kreuzberg. The tracks are based on a drumset, vibraphone (bowed), turntables and bass, which is the only synthetic element of the record. The music is influenced by dub, club music, minimal music and Conny Plank-era Krautrock. The result: acoustic movies and pulsating movements that are in no hurry. Time doesn't matter when you listen to this music.

Title: Con-Struct
Label: M=MINIMAL (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: MINIMAL 007CD
The M=minimal label presents a completely new work from the pioneer of electronic music. Conrad Schnitzler is a sound explorer. For many years, he has been on expeditions, journeys through his collection of electronic synthesizers almost every day. Sounds he has liked have been conserved on tape and stored in his sound library. The result is a huge library of audio files -- he calls them "solen." M=minimal label-heads Borngräber & Strüver had the chance to examine that library and started to construct new pieces out of the hidden gems. These are not remixes, but new compositions and none of the sound combinations have been thought of or heard before. The 8 tracks form an album independent of any trend, and therefore it becomes a real acoustic environment for everyone. The album was produced at Studio.Wannsee. To give the album more authenticity, the complete audio processing was done using analog equipment. They not only used many classics among the finest synthesizers and outboard equipment, but also custom-built tube gear. The icing on the cake are the tubes used from the '60s, which bought Christian Borngräber on a trip through the Atacama desert in search of a small radio repair business in the city of Calama. Thanks to the desert climate, even the packaging of the tubes looked brand-new. CD comes as a limited edition, housed in a gatefold digipack.

Artist: REIHSE, ANDREAS
Title: Romantic Comedy
Label: M=MINIMAL (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: MINIMAL 008CD
Andreas Reihse has been well known since 1994 in his role as a musician with Kreidler. Sometimes he releases club music using his alias April or with Detlef Weinrich (Kreidler, Tolouse Lowtrax) as Binford on labels like Italic, Onitor or Smoothrooms. He has also composed soundtracks for films and installations (Rosemarie Trockel, Maximilian Zentz Zlomowitz, Thea Djordjadze, Andreas Gursky, Frances Scholz/Mark von Schlegell, among others). Romantic Comedy is music for dark clubs, for places without much light and oxygen -- it's driving, percussive dance music. A comedy in six acts: from L.A. to Düsseldorf and back. Of course it's a romantic comedy, a bittersweet romance full of memories and a bit of sorrow. The title "Der Lange Weg Nach Düsseldorf" reminds of Mittagspauses Der Lange Weg Nach Derendorf, the district of Düsseldorf where Reihse and Stefan Betke/Pole in the late '80s shared a rehearsal room. "Langeweg" also was the address of Klaus Dinger's studio in Zeeland. The titles of the other pieces refer to dubious characters that show that the trip on the West Coast makes stops in Manchester, Milano, Brussels and London, without forgetting Charlottenburg and Williamsburg -- places that hold up against oblivion and reinvent themselves. Your club needs you.

Artist: STIEBLER, ERNSTALBRECHT
Title: Sequenz II - Mitteltöne - Trio 89
Label: M=MINIMAL (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $23.00
Catalog #: MINIMAL 009CD
Ernstalbrecht Stiebler is the first German composer that based his compositions on minimal techniques. This record is the first part of an edition of his works on the M=minimal label. Stiebler, whose first reductionist work Extension I was first performed in 1963, clearly showed an opposite position to the serial composers of that time. As a composer, Stiebler is unfortunately still very unknown, but he has a great reputation as a producer for the German radio. Some of the recordings were released on the prestigious hat ART label. Among other things, he supervised recordings by Morton Feldman, John Cage, Alvin Lucier, Giacinto Scelsi, Earle Brown and Christian Wolff. The work "Sequenz II" for cello and tape from 1984, is available as a new recording with cellist Agnieszka Dziubak. The organ work "Mitteltöne" (1997) was performed by the 77 year-old Stiebler himself and is the first available recording. The recordings were produced by Borngräber & Strüver. "Trio 89" is a key work that was released in 1996 on hat ART and is now finally available again. The recording licensed for this record was produced by German radio RBB in 1994 and was performed by Frances-Marie Uitti (cello), Robyn Schulkowsky (percussion) and Marianne Schroeder (piano). All three of them are well-known for their excellent performances of new music.

Catalog #: MINIMAL 010CD
M=Minimal is honored to be able to present Conrad Schnitzler's last work. Only a few days before he passed away in August 2011, he created this unique, almost 70-minute-long work. Thirty-six parts mixed into each other create a walk through his entire work. This record is not only for fans of Conrad Schnitzler -- it's like a trip through 40 years of electronic music. Schnitzler once again shows how strongly he has influenced artists such as Emeralds and Oneohtrix Point Never. Without his solo works and his projects Kluster, Tangerine Dream and Eruption, electronic music wouldn't be the same.

Title: Till The Old World's Blown Up And A New One Is Created
Label: M=MINIMAL (GERMANY)
Format: LP
Price: $22.00
Catalog #: MINIMAL 011LP
M=minimal is pleased to release a masterpiece of the early 21st century on vinyl. Till The Old World's Blown Up And A New One Is Created is an outstanding work of reductionism and minimalism. Martin Brandlmyar (Radian/Trapist/Kapitalband 1), Werner Dafeldecker (Polwechsel, David Sylvian, Autistic Daughters) and Christian Fennesz (Touch/Mego/Thrill Jockey) on this record created a new kind of cool jazz coupled with a big portion of New York School (John Cage, Morton Feldman, Earle Brown and Christian Wolff). It's hard to describe the music with words. This work reveals its secrets only after listening to it a couple of times. It grows with each time you listen to it. In this work, silence and noise are never used as an end in itself. As equal parameters they stand in the composition that also has space for some tonal "flowers." M=minimal's recommended listening time is round about midnight. Christian Fennesz: electric and acoustic guitars, computer; Werner Dafeldecker: double bass, tape delay, computer, Martin Brandlmayr: drums, percussion, vibraphone, computer, piano. Editing and arrangement by Martin Brandlmayr. Cut by Stefan Betke at Scape Mastering. Cover artwork: Christian Borngräber, cover photography: Jens Strüver. Includes download code. Originally released on CD in 2008 on Mosz.

Conrad Schnitzler is an early member of Tangerine Dream and a founding member of Kluster, along with Dieter Moebius and Hans-Joachim Roedelius, and his works will always be important. Max Loderbauer is a veteran of the Berlin techno scene, who became known with his project Sun Electric. For his current project NSI and as a member of the Moritz Von Oswald Trio, Max Loderbauer enjoys a worldwide reputation. His great cooperation with Ricardo Villalobos for the legendary ECM label appeared in many "Best of 2011" lists. Ricardo Villalobos is one of the leading techno DJ/producer/musicians. He has influenced the scene for more than 15 years. The "Aktion" mix targets with 100% certainty on the dancefloor, but is also suited to wake you up in the morning. Title: Like You
Label: M=MINIMAL (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $21.00
Catalog #: MINIMAL 013CD
Nicholas Bussmann sheds his skin once again, now transforming into Nicholas Desamory to release Like You -- a house album of such warmth and rough elegance, it will leave the scene truly excited. House has always been an open genre, allowed to sample, adapt and incorporate other styles. On Like You however, each of the seven tracks opens a new window -- one leading to Bollywood, another one to Bernhard Herrmann, and the next time it might be Morton Feldmann. It's the reduced string and vocal arrangements that lead to this album's specific sound -- the warmth -- evoking the great Norman Whitfield. But all of the sudden, the sound changes direction again to make us realize: it is 2012, and this is how house music sounds in 2012. In recent years, Nicholas Bussmann has brought manifold works into being. His last release was a collaborative album with Chico Mello: Telebossa -- a mélange of Brazilian songwriting, precise electronics and minimal music, receiving rave reviews. In addition, together with drummer Martin Brandlmayer (Radian) Bussmann released two complementary electro-acoustic albums: Kapital Band 1's 2 CD and Playing By Numbers and in 2010, he brought to the stage a concept for a modernized opera with Barnes Dance. Hence, it is not surprising to find several illustrious guests on his new record: Hanno Leichtmann, Florina Speth and Todosch support as instrumentalists. And alongside Nicholas Desamory, Charles Ndubisi, Yusuf Ergün and Lucile Desamory lend their voices to the album.

Andreas Reihse, member of Kreidler and solo artist is one of the most important representatives of the post-Kraut generation, he also knows and loves the music of Conrad Schnitzler. The result is this second Con-Struct album. The composition "Con-Struct 9" opens this work with epic spheres -- deep electronic music that only can be produced being an admirer of Conrad's sound aesthetics. Andreas Reihse starts his travel through the soundtracks of Conrad Schnitzler, showing his producer and composer skills. The tracks that follow contain some surprises. Some of the "Con-Structs" are groovy, in others, Reihse and Schnitzler beam us to abstract worlds. The CD contains an extended version of "Con-Struct 9" and the bonus track "Con-Struct 17."

Title: Clouds
Label: M=MINIMAL (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $21.00
Catalog #: MINIMAL 015CD
Borngräber & Strüver's album Clouds represents a unique selection of chamber music compositions created in the period from 2000 through 2012. This denotes a new facet in the musical cosmos of the Berliner duo, combining influences in the range of minimal music, classic and baroque, as well as the art of improvisation and pop culture. Clouds can be considered an album for fans of Richard Skelton, The Caretaker and Christian Naujoks, but its distinctive work manages to reach a far wider audience. The album begins with the piece "Wellen (Waves)" for soprano and strings. The music is arranged and composed in a sort of wavy shape, as the title suggests. It is a piece in the purest form of minimalism: Without an end, without a beginning. The following track "Mobile" pays homage to Richard Strauss' Don Quixote, as musical parts and constantly-changing atmospheres reconcile to create a sense of movement and mobility. Last but not least, "Secret Bells" represents an "instant composition," as Charles Mingus would say, combining piano works and field recordings. "Clouds 1-3" were written for a virtual chamber orchestra and join together to give the album its leading name. These "Clouds" differentiate themselves through stylistic influences, ranging from classical to the latest in music.

There is a certain type of music that echoes the feeling of a dark promise. It triggers anxiety, and it is precisely this effect that makes it appealing and as fascinating as a Cronenberg film. Denseland's music oscillates precisely within this suspense. Hanno Leichtmann, Hannes Strobl, and David Moss have already released an album titled Chunk (2010). Now they bring us Like Likes Like with the Berlin label M=minimal and seek to combine everything that belongs together. Rhythmic textures, rudimentary melodies and a clear renunciation of harmonies develop into a lesson on the subject of minimalism. The songs produce a deep and chilly effect, and beyond the rhythmic structures appears David Moss' magical "sprechgesang" (a vocal technique somewhere between speaking and singing). His voice seems to whisper directly in one's ear. It creaks, it grumbles. It then expands and shapes into a sort of singing as ghostly voices breathe in the air. It is precisely this vocal that widely contributes to a feeling of discomfort on Like Likes Like. Almost all repetitive music operates on the principle of hypnosis through repetition. Sometimes a song needs a few minutes to unfold its hypnotic effect; on the contrary, Denseland needs only a few seconds. The centrifugal force in its downbeat repetitions becomes practically unavoidable. Denseland's members depict mastery in opening new frontiers, employing minimal resources with maximum efficiency. Descriptors such as "slow-motion funk" or "minimal spoken-word noise techno" do not live up to the trio's dark and energetic tracks.
