Artist: GALLUZZI, ANDRE
Title: Berghain 01
Label: OSTGUT TON (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $15.50
Catalog #: OSTGUT 001CD
One of the most heavily vibed mix CDs of 2005, largely focusing on the Kompakt family of distributed labels. "Berghain 01 is the first mix CD from the Berlin based club institution of the same name. Since its opening at the end of 2004, the successor of the seminal Ostgut constantly built a reputation for its breathtaking architecture (keeping much of the former heatplant's monumental appearance from the Stalin era), for its uncompromising sound philosophy, for the integration of contemporary art, as well as for its wildly mixed and enthusiastic crowd. Launching their own record label Ostgut Tonträger was just a logical progression. Along the lines of the Berghain/Panorama bar division, the club kickstarts the label with its own mix series, exclusive vinyl releases will follow next year. André Galluzzi is one of the most charismatic DJs around today. As a resident at both the old Ostgut and the new Berghain he was given the chance to experiment freely which finally lead to his very own, versatile style ranging from summery garden sets, to hard hitting peak time slammers, as well as trippy after hour moments, representing every facet of an intense party weekend. This made André Galluzzi last but not least part of Sven Väth's Cocoon artist roster. His mix for Beghain 01 has been created live and direct. No digital post production, no corrections. One could say, it's an authentic set with all the hissing and crackling making the work with vinyl a very warm and human thing. The mix is dense, consistent and pumping. Minimal, but by no means eventless. Without obvious hits, but rich with highlights. Galluzzi created a darkly shimmering flow, a hypnotic journey with psychedelic potential. He has intuitively woven 13 tracks from more or less known minimal labels into each other, provoking a drift towards losing oneself in the sound, which, after all, is a quality so many people love him for." Features tracks from Lusine, Monne Automne, C:C/P, Alex Under, Daniel Stefanik, Ali Khan, Maetrik, Daniel Taylor, 2 Dollar Egg, Taksi, Wighnomy Brothers, Ame, Metaboman,

Artist: DETTMANN/KLOCK
Title: Dawning/Dead Man Watches the Clock
Label: OSTGUT TON (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $10.00
Catalog #: OSTGUT 001EP
"Ostgut marks the start of the club's vinyl series. It is meant as a platform for Berghain and Panorama Bar's residents as well as other artists the club has grown fond of. Stylistically it will be as open as possible, without losing sight of the dancefloor. Ben Klock and Marcel Dettmann are both residents at Berghain. 'Dawning' and 'Dead Man Watches the Clock' are two functional club stompers, rather deep than too obvious and rather analogue sounding than digital. In Dettmann and Klock's heads, Detroit is just around the corner, especially on 'Dawning,' with its stirring harmonies, revealing its full effect in the club."

Title: Panorama Bar 01
Label: OSTGUT TON (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $15.50
Catalog #: OSTGUT 002CD
2010 repress. This is the deepest electronic music mix CD of 2006. The first mix CD commemorating Berlin's Panorama Bar -- a special club that has reached legendary and international status as being a beacon for dance music. It is only logical that Cassy, the club's resident DJ illustrates what a night is like at the Panorama. Anyone who has spent some time on Panorama Bar's dancefloor during one of Cassy's sets has witnessed the special kind of atmosphere and energy she manages to create with her special house sound. When Cassy is behind the decks, it is rather probable that everyone will dance. Her very own way of fusing deep, minimal and sexy records is highly exceptional and it creates a very intoxicating, special groove. As one of Panorama Bar's residents, Cassy has managed to coin a sound which really stands for this location. Thus, it's appropriate that she delivers the second installment in Ostgut's series of mix CDs. She has picked 24 tracks ranging from DBX's classic "Bleep," to more recent tracks like Redshape's "Dust," adding up to an emotionally dense, varied and deep mix. With the right choice of tracks, Cassy shows that introverted minimalism is only one crossfade away from something a lot more ecstatic. Her way of mixing lets the music by artists like Rick Wade, Baby Ford, Auto-Repeat or Shed merge into one big picture. Cassy is not interested in trends. She is relying on her personal taste, always searching for a timeless quality in music. Where most of the commercial mix CDs are put together on a computer these days, this CD was created with two turntables, a mixer and a pair of hands. Other artists on this mix include: Shackleton, Dwayne Jensen feat. Miyon, Norm Talley, D5, Melchior Productions, Tobias, Ricardo Villalobos, nsi., Mono Junk, Baby Ford & The Ifach Collective, Yassin & Arne, Ø, Mathias Kaden, Liebe ist Cool and DJ Abstract.

Artist: BRTSCHITSCH, PAUL
Title: TwirlUnder
Label: OSTGUT TON (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $10.00
Catalog #: OSTGUT 002EP
"Following our vinyl debut by Dettmann|Klock ('Dawning/Dead Man Watches the Clock'), the second release comes from Paul Brtschitsch. Born in Berlin, raised in Frankfurt/Main, Brtschitsch, who also produces and runs the label Taksi with André Galluzzi, has just decided to move back to his old home town. These two tracks here clearly show themselves influenced by Brtschitsch's visits to Berghain/Panorama Bar, where Paul, as he puts it in his own words, was finally able to quench his thirst for inspiration again: 'I see 'Twirl' as a perfect soundtrack to the moment, when the shutters open up at Panorama Bar and daylight floods the room. 'Under' on the other hand is a deep and atmospheric track trying to underline the vastness and large scale of the Berghain.' Of course this doesn't mean both tracks couldn't work the other way around or at any other place: 'Twirl' and 'Under' are universal and useful scorchers fusing a certain summery, trancey fleet-footed-ness with the right amount of dancefloor punch making this EP a strong aspirant for the perfect open air record 2006."

Artist: SHED
Title: Shedding The Past
Label: OSTGUT TON (GERMANY)
Format: 2LP
Price: $18.00
Catalog #: OSTGUT 002LP
Double LP version; 7 tracks total, one vinyl exclusive. This is the first full-length release for Berlin-based DJ/producer, Shed. The work at hand presents yet another stunning Ostgut Ton acquisition, revealing Shed's irresistible, intense techno sound. Shedding The Past is the culmination of years of continuous Soloaction research, Shed's very own imprint. The recordings fully unfold the total variety in his outstanding crafts of sound. Lineage can be drawn to the Saunderson Detroit sound, Aphex Twin rave and Manix hardcore, sounding like an archive document -- an archaeological history of electronic dance music. Shedding The Past captures the intensity and the purity of club and rave in the early days, without excess nostalgia. Rather, it creates new moments that leave the past behind. Full of energy and vigor, this is true techno music: concentrated and dense, but with a sheer easiness born from eastern Germany. This adeptness has captured the ears of Berghain and Hard Wax ears. As others of his social provenience, Shed took on the opportunities of the early '90s techno culture, which unfolded after the Wall went down, and developed an approach of "just do it." With this easiness in mind, Shedding The Past is just true techno music. Includes an exclusive track, as well as two alternate versions specially crafted for vinyl.

Title: Shut Up and Dance! Updated
Label: OSTGUT TON (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $15.50
Catalog #: OSTGUT 003CD
The Ostgut label presents a meeting of classic ballet and modern electronic music on Shut Up and Dance! Updated. The Berlin Staatsballet joins forces with minimal techno mecca Berghain as the venue for exploring new terrains and as a homebase for the Ostgut Ton label. On June 27th, five members of the Staatsballett will perform choreographies specially made for electronic music, and specially composed for this occasion. The musical results work equally well outside of the venue. Regular guests such as nsi. (aka Tobias Freund and Max Loderbauer), Sleeparchive, Âme, Luciano and The 7th Plain (aka Luke Slater) have contributed exceptional and fascinating pieces, and all are exclusive to this release. Their spectrum ranges from nsi.'s low frequencies and abstract sounds, Sleeparchive's icy minimalism, Âme's epic, repetitive arrangements reminiscent of Philip Glass, to Luciano's humorous house grooves, and last but not least, Luke Slater's beatless ambient track under his The 7th Plain moniker. Considering the variety of all tracks, they work astonishingly well as an album, with each artist independently developing their piece, with no instructions on how the music should sound. Eventually, they all opted for a calmer, hypnotic sound (the most club-friendly track, Luciano's "Drunken Ballett," will be released on vinyl including a Moritz von Oswald remix). This is how Luciano describes his approach: "Before I started producing the track, I brought the dancers to mind: how they merge with the sound, how their bodies move to the music and what kind of music should come out of the speakers. I wanted to put dance music in relation to modern dance and I wanted to make physical movement and music correspond to each other." The flirtation between high art and entertainment was very inspiring and enriching to everyone involved.

Artist: DETTMANN, MARCEL
Title: Quicksand/Getaway
Label: OSTGUT TON (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $10.00
Catalog #: OSTGUT 003EP
This is Berghain resident, label owner and DJ Marcel Dettmann, who is already known from his successful debut hit, "Dawning" with Ben Klock. "Quicksand" is a bone-dry club tool, which doesn't even bother with minimal sound standards. Instead, it mind-bogglingly uses one sound in a very effective way, housed in a skeletal arrangement. The B-side strikes a more sublime note, reflecting the atmosphere of the wee hours on the dancefloor, when melancholic Detroit chords can touch the dancefloor to the quick. This is a softly pushing track with an emotional surplus.

Title: Serenity
Label: OSTGUT TON (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $15.50
Catalog #: OSTGUT 004CD
This is Ostgut Ton's first artist album by Berlin's Achim Brandenburg aka Prosumer and Cologne's Murat Tepeli. If you are familiar with both their works, it won't be unexpected that Serenity is a flawless house album in the truest sense. Rather than a bunch of dance tracks stuck together, it's been carefully compiled to form a union of songs where emotions and excess are laced with a good measure of sexiness. For Achim and Murat, house is a universal language, a matrix for different atmospheres and moods. To cater to different listening situations, both at home and in a club, Serenity is released with two different tracklistings. The CD contains 17 tracks, whereas the double 12" has eight DJ-friendly, extended versions of the CD's most danceable tracks, as well as some exclusive to the vinyl. As a Panorama Bar resident, Achim has a lot of experience in how to move a dancefloor. His sets display the full spectrum of house with classics and newer productions that are well-mixed with a timeless quality. Inspired by their live gigs, Murat started some tracks that he played to Achim, who then selected from them and suggested vocals, lyrics, drum patterns or different arrangements. Subsequently, they finalized the ideas together and recorded the different drum and synth patterns to finish the tracks. Because Serenity also contains each of their solo tracks, they sent everything through a big analog mixing console onto a tape machine to give it a homogeneous and warm feeling. Prosumer and Murat Tepeli love the sound of analog machines, as well as the rough and direct qualities of Chicago house by producers and labels like Ron Trent, Chez Damier, Armando, Trax, DJ International, DJ Pierre, Cajmere, Fingers Inc. and Dancemania. This album also features grassroots tracks, swirling acid lines, and beautiful guest vocals by Elif Biçer. These tracks deal with fury and mourning and illuminate both moments of calm and pandemonium.

Artist: FAKI, LEN
Title: Rainbow Delta/Mekong Delta
Label: OSTGUT TON (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $10.00
Catalog #: OSTGUT 004EP
The fourth release on Ostgut comes from Berghain resident Len Faki. Born and raised in the south of Germany, the DJ, producer and label owner relocated to Berlin three years ago. He is a techno activist and definitely the man for the maximal dancefloor. "Rainbow Delta" is a deep and floating techno track with dub chords and perfectly set percussion; pumping and contemplative at the same time. The B-side sees Faki play with bone dry drums, an oldschool rave organ and cleverly-crafted breaks. Rave is back -- for good. This is a hit for all big techno floors worldwide.

Artist: PLANETARY ASSAULT SYSTEMS
Title: Temporary Suspension
Label: OSTGUT TON (GERMANY)
Format: 2x12"
Price: $18.00
Catalog #: OSTGUT 004LP
2x12" version. Planetary Assault Systems is the legendary, harder-edged techno project from the UK's Luke Slater, and this is his first full-length effort after more than 7 years. Temporary Suspension is released as a continuous mix of 10 tracks on CD, as well as 6 single tracks on a double 12", and defies any current sound trends. However, Slater himself states that it's "time to bring the funk and intensity back in a new way. Time to open the sound again." In addition to funk and intensity, Slater manages to create an industrial strength and energy that has evolved over the years -- ranging from aggressive techno to very deep and melancholy pieces that still retain an alien feeling. The first track "Open Up" sets the pace for things to come, already: a driving groove and a thunderstorm of synths cutting through a confusing melody of chimes. Subsequently, the loud and fast "Whoodoo" dives deep into the primordial blend of techno, using an uncompromising, metallic percussion. "Om The Def" takes the foot off the gas pedal, marking one of the album's definite highlights by using an arrangement of bongos and a funky, distorted bass line oscillating between dense and airy aggregate states. "Hold It" is an unbelievably sexy Chicago house stomper reminiscent of a modern version of an Amando track. "Attack Of The Mutant Camels" fascinates with its noise and bleep fest, complete with a decelerated rhythm and a fierce bass line. On "Gateway To Minia" he loses the beat in favor of gloomy ambient synth chords culminating in a cacophony of noise. But the album does not end here, as he brings back the kick on "Sticker Men" one last time with the crowd firmly set in his sights. Luke Slater's sonic vision on Temporary Suspension as a rough and highly energetic sound hardly comes as a surprise, as he keeps testing and pushing his musical boundaries ever since releasing his first tracks in 1989. Planetary Assault Systems has always been Luke's pseudonym for hard and uncompromising techno, and almost all of his releases on Peacefrog have become classics of the genre. Luke has never been satisfied with exploring just one aspect of music, and is well-known for his eccentricity and rebelliousness, aspects that have held his audience captive in his extraterrestrial light-beam of past, present, and future. Heavy, grinding techno cuts that will most definitely rank as the best of 2009.

Artist: DETTMANN, MARCEL
Title: Berghain 02
Label: OSTGUT TON (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $15.50
Catalog #: OSTGUT 005CD
Following André Galluzzi's mix CD Berghain 01, Ostgut resident DJ Marcel Dettmann presents the second installment in this series, Berghain 02. It is his first commercially-available mix, ever, and contains exclusive tracks as well as long-lost classics. In the course of 72 minutes, Dettmann fathoms his very own sonic spectrum. Not relying on recent trends, Marcel draws his inspiration from frequent DJing at Berghain, his only benchmark for his purist approach to techno. Dettmann was born 50 kilometers outside of Berlin in Fürstenwalde. In 1992, he discovered techno and immediately bought a pair of turntables at an age of 16 years. He promoted parties in Dresden and Frankfurt/Oder which gained him reputation eventually leading up to a residency at Berghain's predecessor, OstGut. Since 2004, he has worked at Berlin's record shop institution, Hard Wax. Two years later, he finally started to produce his own tracks. His tracks for Ostgut Ton, his own imprint MDR and remixes for artists such as Ellen Allien and labels like Rekids reflect the unique and bass-heavy sound of the Berghain floor like no others. His understanding of techno is very much influenced by an old school ethos. His music is as much reduced to the basics as it is profound and in its roughness very distinct -- musical features derived from his experience as a DJ. His sets will never feature trance or overproduced records and when he goes minimal it's always reminiscent of Rob Hood's Minimal Nation. Fresh cuts from all around, including a previously-unreleased track from T++, this second volume shows that Ostgut artists know how to work a floor. Artists include: Tobias, Norman Nodge, Pied Plat, Planetary Assault Systems, Tadeo, Substance, Risqué Rythum Team, Samuli Kemppi, Kevin Saunderson, Clatterbox, Redshape, Shed, Kate Simko, Ryan Elliott, Deetron, Radio Slave, Luke Hess and Strand.

Artist: KLOCK, BEN
Title: Czeslawa/Warszawa
Label: OSTGUT TON (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $10.00
Catalog #: OSTGUT 005EP
The fifth release on Ostgut comes from Berlin's Ben Klock. "Czeslawa" is a track Klock tailor-made for his sets at Berghain as a hypnotic club tool, and this track is a beast -- slightly infused with acid, subtly grilling the dancefloor in a way you won't forget too quickly. This is pure techno for the wee hours of the morning. "Warszawa" focuses on something more musical and playful, oozing with high spirits and swing. When those snappy strings set in, both rave veterans and novices will embrace each other blissfully.

Artist: DETTMANN, MARCEL
Title: Dettmann
Label: OSTGUT TON (GERMANY)
Format: 3LP
Price: $22.00
Catalog #: OSTGUT 005LP
3LP version. This is the debut long-player by Berghain's resident DJ, producer and remixer Marcel Dettmann. Intrinsically tied to the myth that is Berghain by now, the attached label Ostgut Ton and at the same time with the regeneration of no-frill, cleansed and powerful electronic music, Marcel Dettmann managed a daring feat: the production of a truly absorbing and veritable techno album. Spread out over these tracks, Dettmann transports the raw energy, the rough aesthetics and the simple grace of techno. A Berliner-by-choice, the difficult format doesn't bog him down. Neither does he give in to exhausting finger exercises that try to supersede his learned trade, nor does he confront the listener with hasty or brutal tracks that would rather feel at home pressed on a 12" in a DJ-case. Tracks like "Reticle," "Drawing," "Captivate" or "Silex" seem like the convergence of his striking efforts and discography up until now. You get contemplative moments with almost-weightless layers of sound that get used like melodies or chords, rotating with condensed, intensified and sappy snatches. Rigour and austere beauty go hand-in-hand. Surprisingly enough, with a genre that is aware of its own history, Dettmann never falls prey to the dangerous and seductive nature of nostalgia. However, Dettmann sounds as fresh and self-contained as techno nowadays can be. And more so, it once and for all establishes its eponym as a genre mainstay. However described or classified, his music is a successful meditation about the art form we call techno.

Artist: KLOCK, BEN
Title: One
Label: OSTGUT TON (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $15.50
Catalog #: OSTGUT 007CD
One is the debut full-length album by Berlin's Ben Klock. Controlling his output over the last decade with care and accuracy, Ben has only released a dozen EPs, rather than falling for an inflationary release policy. Working with Ostgut Ton, BPitch Control, Memo and his own platform Klockworks only, he chose trust and longevity over quick visibility. So how does a producer whose 12"s have always been dedicated 100% to the dancefloor, approach his first album? "The piece's atmospheres in itself and in relation to each other were of greater concern than thoughts like 'do I need another ambient track, or do I need a kick drum to make this work in a club?' In principle, all of it is techno, but I don't see One as a pure club album." Stylistically, Klock draws on plentiful resources. There's the dirty techno in "Grip," the sexy, intermittent "Check Your Pulse," alongside ambient-like tracks such as "Init One" and "Init Two," as well as the dubstep-inspired "Goldrush." And then there are the outstanding cuts "Goodly Sin" and "Ok," featuring vocals by Elif Biçer. In comparison to her recordings with Prosumer & Murat Tepeli, here her voice has been reduced to the bare essentials. With its rugged bass line and crafty claps, "Ok" is even reminiscent of a contemporary version of Nicolette's early work with Shut Up And Dance, but first and foremost it expands the Berghain sound to include a notion of pop. One displays a depth and maturity of sound rarely found in this compactness. In all its stylistic variety, this album oozes with Klock's traditional understanding of techno. The special sound at Berghain, the low bass, the hiss and the rumble, the economic melodic fragments and the eerie atmospheres are unique and ever-present. Ben Klock defines techno as visionary music, and his work knows about its past, yet remains completely up-to-date without ever coming close to Detroit and minimal clichés. One is a powerful techno album marking an early highlight of 2009, raising the bar both for techno and Ostgut Ton.

Title: What Makes You Go For It
Label: OSTGUT TON (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $10.00
Catalog #: OSTGUT 007EP
Having released an EP on Playhouse together, as well as some solo releases, Murat Tepeli and Prosumer prove that Berlin and Cologne fit together quite nicely. "What Makes You Go For It" is a mixture of driving bassline, deep chords, spacey sounds and Prosumer's warm voice. A dark and melancholic affair for thumping house floors. "Jaws"caters to both house and techno floors. A relentless bass takes turns with euphoric pads and makes this track perfect for primetime. "Vise" is peppered with acid and old Chicago house, with low frequencies hitting dancers in the brain and hips. What makes you go for it? Good music.

Artist: FAKI, LEN
Title: Berghain 03
Label: OSTGUT TON (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $15.50
Catalog #: OSTGUT 008CD
Following André Galluzzi and Marcel Dettmann's Berghain mixes, this is the third installment in this series, mixed by Berlin's Len Faki. There aren't many DJs who embody euphoric raving, moments fraught with happiness and electric discharges onto the dancefloor, as Len Faki does. What has been reserved for dancers at Berghain and other international clubs, is now available on CD for the first time ever. Berghain 03 is a display of Faki's mastery at its most compact and intense. Unlike a recording from a club night, this CD concentrates all aspects and tonalities of Len's extensive sets at Berghain in 77 minutes. Len takes the listener on an odyssey: at the beginning, one is sucked into a hypnotic techno sound that gradually develops a more and more intoxicating, electrifying and dramatic dynamic. Len Faki's exclusive contribution "BX 3" marks a first euphoric highlight, being absorbed by the dubby undertones of Radio Slave's "Neverending," another exclusive track on this mix, followed by Basement Jaxx's disco-house, transporting the euphoric atmosphere to a new frisky level. Towards the end, Jerome Sydenham and Dennis Ferrer's "Timbuktu" adds a spiritual depth underlined by Burial's remix of Bloc Party's "Where Is Home?" -- the perfect closing track. Having moved to Berlin in 2002, Len Faki took a creative break in order to restart as a DJ and musician. He became a resident at Berghain and launched his labels Figure and Podium on which he released a series of excellent 12"s. For anyone who experienced Len Faki internationally as a peaktime DJ or who only know him for his productions, the second, more house-y part of Berghain 03 might come as a surprise, as this aspect of his DJing has so far been reserved to his marathons at Berghain. But Faki rises to the special challenge of presenting such a set during the length of a CD, without suffering the loss of the broad stylistic range of such a night. Being able to show that it's still possible to bring oppositional tracks into a coherent context on this mix has been a task close to Len's heart. By changing styles, Len Faki reveals connections you can feel. By layering the tracks for very long periods, they all appear in a new light, from John Beltran's orchestral sounds, to Burial's fey dubstep. Berghain 03 is an injection of adrenaline into any raver's heart. Other artists include: Edit-Select, Roman Lindau, Collabs, Speedy J & Chris Leibling, Gez Varley, Tony Montana, Someone Else, Wink, Pfirter, Eric Johnston, JP Montesino, Planetary Assault Systems, Jero, Koljah & Oliver Deutschmann, Ed Davenport, Tony Lionni, Basement Jaxx, Nick Holder & Kaje, Trackheadz, Laurent Garnier, and Bloc Party.

Title: Delta Remixes
Label: OSTGUT TON (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $10.00
Catalog #: OSTGUT 008EP
Two monstrous remixes of Len Faki's Rainbow Delta/Mekong Delta EP, featuring the skills of Jerome Sydenham and Adam Beyer. Sydenham interprets "Rainbow Delta" into a very heavy and deep techno track. By using loads of reverb and space, he creates a cinemascopic wall of sound pushing dancers and listeners to unknown heights. Beyer's rework of "Mekong Delta" shouldn't fail to set dancefloors on fire. After a soft build-up, tricky percussion combines with sci-fi effects and the rave organ from the original. This is pure Stockholm techno-swing.

Artist: STEFFI
Title: Yours & Mine
Label: OSTGUT TON (GERMANY)
Format: 2x12"
Price: $18.00
Catalog #: OSTGUT 008LP
2x12" version. On the debut album by Berlin-based Dutch DJ/producer Steffi, you will discover an even further developed producer who shares her personal journey. A long period of intense experimentation and self-discovery led to this sensitive, instinctive and extremely insightful long-player. Carefully mixing old and new, warm analog synth and drum textures flow in unison with modern studio finesse over nine tracks, each telling its own story. Ethereal, hypnotic passages and positive, uplifting messages meet temperate, slow-building vibes and heart-wrenching moments. Often, simplicity blurs into satisfying complexity. Moments of sheer joy arise against the backdrop of a rich and elegantly-controlled exploration of sound. The opening track "Lilo" is a soothing, harmonious forecast of this deep dance music album; swirling, and reduced. A warm solid state thump drives it however, and it becomes clear that the beauty in Steffi's house music lies in this meeting of classic, emotion-drenched melodies and bold, earthy drums. The tactile "Piem" rises and climbs with a strong late-night intensity before "Yours" featuring Virginia comes to the fore. Striking a clever balance between positive, addictive pop and straight-up club energy, this vocal-led future-classic is a loud and proud testament to how far Steffi has come -- not only as a producer, but as a DJ who understands the need for balance, control and release. Perhaps an ode to the many foundations of house that have no doubt inspired Steffi, "Arms" is a string-led jack track, a slow burner in the best sense, and all the better for it. Similarly, "Manic Moods" sells itself on the strength of its handful of carefully-crafted analog synth lines, slowly fusing to become one while her beats urge us forward. The urgent, sci-fi tones and extended, soaring strings of "Mine" bring it back to the club as heady images of warehouses past, present and future flash before you. This retro-futurism is then taken further with the muscular "Nightspacer," whose NY house roots are fleshed out by blossoming pads and an unstoppable, throbbing, traveling vibe. Drawing the album towards its close, the deeply spaced "You Own My Mind," featuring Virginia's beautifully smooth vocals, washes over and wraps around you in a melancholic blanket of sound. Deeply personal to the last, "Moving Lips" could be that special last embrace; one more moment to end the night and yet keep you longing for more.

Title: Temporary Suspension
Label: OSTGUT TON (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $15.50
Catalog #: OSTGUT 009CD

Title: Playground/Early Glow
Label: OSTGUT TON (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $10.00
Catalog #: OSTGUT 009EP
Marcel Fengler is a resident DJ at Berghain, and Playground/Early Glow can be looked at as the result of a two-year testing phase of sonic possibilities available to him. "Playground" is peak-time techno with a metallic scraping noise, refined percussion and a huge kick. "Early Glow" is meant to be played in the early morning hours, as a carpet of fragmented chords with pads rush in and out, developing the sort of rhythmic hypnosis which Berlin crowds have learned to love so much. These tracks are classic Morse codes from the depths of club space.

2LP version. Tobias Freund's debut album for Ostgut Ton also serves as the album introduction to his Tobias. moniker, giving a fascinating and profound insight into his special world of music and sound science. Being a part of the music business since 1980, you could easily fill books with his works and creations. Formerly based in Frankfurt am Main and now happily living in Berlin, Tobias. started his quest in sound as a synth avant-gardist with a Korg MS20, worked a day job as a studio engineer (i.a. Milli Vanilli and today for Aerea Negrot, Nina Kraviz and Heartthrob, amongst others), remixed, released as Pink Elln and with projects such as Sieg Über Die Sonne and NSI (with Max Loderbauer) and runs his own label Non Standard Productions. On this album, Tobias. renounces the ubiquitous dictate of computer synchronization. Degraded to a plain recording device, the computer makes way for the classic drum machines Roland TR 808 and a Korg Mini Pops. Known for having a life of their own, their unpredictability wins over standardized convenience. Tobias.' sound gets recompensed with dynamics and an agility that doesn't lack attention to detail, accuracy and thoughtfulness. Rooted in jam sessions with just beats and efx units, the moods and music on Leaning Over Backwards range from unswerving club tracks to occasional ambient or drone-like atmospheres or meet up as hybrids. Take "The Key," for instance -- produced in Santiago by Tobias. and his long-standing colleague Uwe Schmidt (Atom TM), you can hear splintered beats and gloomy pads expanding into Drexciyan depths. It all comes full circle with "Now I Know." Equally fantastic and fey, Tobias. makes use of Aerea Negrot's (Hercules & Love Affair) remarkable voice, turning the closing track into a longing piece of Blade Runner pop music. Leaning Over Backwards bewitches with its nonconformity and almost frightening idiosyncrasy. Title: Panorama Bar 02
Label: OSTGUT TON (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $15.50
Catalog #: OSTGUT 010CD
This is the second mix CD from Ostgut Ton commemorating Berlin's legendary Panorama Bar, and the first mix CD from Tama Sumo. She is among the best of Berlin's house DJs, winning people over with her very own style and refreshing charisma. Her extended Sunday afternoon sets at Panorama Bar are extremely varied musically, ranging from techno, disco, vintage electro with a pinch of pop, however, house is always at the gravitational center. Sometimes it's hard to put a finger on a DJ's specialty, but with Tama Sumo, a surplus of emotions and open-mindedness can easily be detected. She manages to transfer these skills onto the dancefloor, creating a special atmosphere of sexiness garnished with an essential dose of dirt. Accordingly, her mix is a rather personal statement, and she has been able to secure a handful of exclusive tracks. Apart from the excellent tracks by Basic Soul Unit, Lerosa, Levon Vincent and Steffi, Panorama Bar 02 also contains exclusive and previously-unreleased material by Shed, Soundstream and Tama Sumo herself teaming up with Prosumer. Tama Sumo is not only focusing on her Berlin-based surroundings, she is also embracing components which have been influential for her in the past few years. There's Tin Man's whispering pop, deep house by John Daly, John Roberts, Trus'Me and Kassem Mosse; there's the Detroit techno of Redshape's interpretation of Newworldaquarium's "Trespassers," the vintage house of Marcus Mixx with a mix by Ron Hardy, XDB's and Mike Huckaby's dub techno and there's the over-the-top pop of Ost & Kjex. There are unjustifiably rare gems in this mix, tracks one doesn't get to hear mixed in clubs or CDs often. As Sumo herself explains, "I wanted to have an easy, yet soulful beginning, a slow ascent towards more ecstatic territories, a little pinch of pop and then end it calmly again. After all, this is the typical Panorama Bar feeling for me." Other artists include: Nina Kraviz, Jenifa Mayanja, Murat Tepeli, Lucretio, and The Oliverwho Factory.

Kristian Beyer and Frank Wiedemann are Âme. In the spring of 2007, they contributed a 16+ minute epic track to Ostgut's dance soundtrack, Shut Up And Dance! Updated, which is now on vinyl for the first time. With its minimalism in the vein of Philip Glass morphing into a majestic '70s psychedelic killer, it is an outstanding track. The DJ-friendly club edit doesn't leave out any of the original's stupefying magic.

Title: The Messenger
Label: OSTGUT TON (GERMANY)
Format: 2x12"
Price: $21.00
Catalog #: OSTGUT 010LP
2x12" version, featuring 9 out of 12 tracks from the CD. The Planetary Assault Systems project has been active for some 15 years now, channeling an exploratory theme into cutting-edge, non-conformist techno for the clubs but also for listening at home. His previous album for Ostgut Ton, Temporary Suspension (OSTGUT 009CD/004LP), re-instated that classic P.A.S sound and found the dexterous artist touring even more with this tougher, purist techno aesthetic. And yet again, Slater maintains his prolific output with the announcement of The Messenger. In his own words, it's a project that stays very true and honest to the Planetary Assault Systems goal: a journey of discovery, to create new sounds which are not otherwise present in club music at this time. There's a strong club element present here -- Slater play-tested all the tracks and employed a careful editing process to make sure they all fit the description. Highly playable works of club-intended sound art, early heavy moments like "Bell Blocker" or the playful "Wriss." The drum barrage of "Rip The Cut" speaks directly to the dancefloor, perhaps the most rhythmically-intense moment of the album, which is not to be put lightly as the rolling, filtering tones of "Cold Bolster" and "Black Tea" urge us further into perfectly frenetic moments.

Artist: SCUBA
Title: Sub:Stance
Label: OSTGUT TON (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $15.50
Catalog #: OSTGUT 011CD
SUB:STANCE is the collision of two worlds -- the vitality of UK bass music intertwined with Berghain and all its sensory exhilaration and unique atmosphere. The party started in July 2008 when an array of dubstep's finest exponents first brought the world's most exciting sound to its most talked-about club. Since then, the concept has become fully formed with curators Paul Rose (aka Scuba) and Paul Fowler (Spymania Records) picking line-ups covering the full spectrum of the burgeoning bass music scene. Scuba, originally from London, has been at the forefront of the new popularity of this music in Berlin and his DJ sets at each of the parties have provided some of the highlights of the series to date. He was therefore an obvious choice for this mix, which across 24 tracks paints a sonic picture of his musical self and that of SUB:STANCE. Including many tracks from artists who have played the party themselves, including Shackleton, Ramadanman and Mala, amongst others, the mix takes in all the sonic influences and stylistic techniques that have made Scuba sets at SUB:STANCE special. From the laidback cool of Pangaea, through Surgeon's barely-controlled aggression, to Mala's deep meditation, the mix is a true representation of what these parties mean. The mix also features 4 previously-unheard tracks from Scuba himself as well as many more exclusive tracks and edits. Other artists include: Sigha, Airhead, Joy Orbison, Shortstuff, Untold, DFRNT, AQF, Badawi, Mount Kimbie, Instra:mental, James Blake, George Fitzgerald, and Joker.

Title: Scenario EP
Label: OSTGUT TON (GERMANY)
Format: 2x12"
Price: $18.00
Catalog #: OSTGUT 011EP
Marcel Dettmann and Ben Klock join forces again with the Scenario EP -- a double 12" containing four brand new tracks as well as a rework of their hit "Dawning." "Scenario" features drums dry as a bone, with metallic percussion and concise effects. "Blank Scenario" is a reduced workout of "Scenario," "Renumber" is a stoic techno beast with a heavy bass, and "Places Like This" is a DJ tool turned bombastic. "Dawning (Revisited)" revives the original with plenty of harmony.

Artist: DETTMANN, MARCEL
Title: Dettmann
Label: OSTGUT TON (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $15.50
Catalog #: OSTGUT 012CD

Title: Turn Around
Label: OSTGUT TON (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $10.00
Catalog #: OSTGUT 012EP
"Turn Around" is the first single from the forthcoming album Serenity from Prosumer and Murat Tepeli. "Turn Around" is based on a mid-tempo house groove and reveals an endearing pillow talk between Prosumer and female singer Elif Biçer. On the flip, Cassy augments the beats with her own voice. A pumping darkroom dub for the moments without time and space. Pure magic.

Artist: KLOCK, BEN
Title: Berghain 04
Label: OSTGUT TON (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $15.50
Catalog #: OSTGUT 013CD
Following Berghain mixes from André Galluzzi, Marcel Dettmann, and Len Faki, this is the fourth installment in this series, mixed by Ben Klock. When it comes to Berlin's Berghain and its myth, we all know the deal by now: techno, concrete, and marathon dances. Fact or fiction, Berghain 04 comes in the nick of time. It is impossible to reduce Ben Klock's musical vision and especially his work as a DJ. He seems not to care about classifications, about the limits and differences of techno and house, if something fits into the dubstep formula or if a record is in line with the scheme of an almighty and dominating bass drum. The Berghain resident is just doing what always separated a brilliant DJ from a good one: Klock adopts the music as his own. Literally, Ben Klock's debut mixed CD is a cornucopia of new, unreleased and exclusive pieces. Bass music hero Martyn delivers one of his clunky hybrids, Berlin's best-kept secret Roman Lindau presents breathtaking, chrome-plated dub techno and a new player by the name of ACT surprises and amazes all at the same time. You will hear fantastic novelties by Rolando, New York's very own Levon Vincent, Klockworks artist and Minneapolis genius DVS1 and of course, by Ben Klock himself. On the one hand, there's an astonishing melodic and engaging track called "Compression Session 1" and another called "Elfin Flight." There is an unwound collaboration with Elif Biçer and a perfect lead to the levitating grand finale. Klock turns all these ingredients into one long and harmonic blend. Without any sign of hectic or nervous breaks, but not without thrilling moments, peaks, valleys, or turning points, Berghain 04 primes its listener for the climax of a long night out: the disappearance of space, time and the outside world. Other artists include: 154, Junior Boys, Marcel Dettmann, STL, Jonas Kopp, Mikhail Breen, Kevin Gorman, Tyree, The Echologist, and James Ruskin.

Artist: MYMY
Title: Southbound/Pink Flamingos
Label: OSTGUT TON (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $10.00
Catalog #: OSTGUT 013EP
Southbound/Pink Flamingos is not only MyMy's debut release on Ostgut Ton, it also is the first full 12" release after their critically-acclaimed album Songs For The Gentle on Playhouse. With this 12", the duo move away from their techy style to wade knee-deep through deep house territory, delivering two percussive, swinging house tools with irresistible grooves. Both tracks are as timeless as purring cats, Pears soap and old Prescription records. This is gentlemen's music.

Artist: SHED
Title: The Traveller
Label: OSTGUT TON (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $15.50
Catalog #: OSTGUT 014CD
This is the second full-length release for Berlin-based DJ/producer, Shed. The Traveller is not the perfectly planned-out escape into the safe haven where perfect tools worship the primetime DJ, but an ode to the heart of electronic dance music that still pumps loud and vigorous. For Shed, that very heartbeat was never clearer, more concise and genre-defining than in the UK in the early '90s. Detroit, Chicago, Berlin: get in line, you've had your time. Needless to say, Shed is not in this to become the copycat of some of rave music's perfect key moments. The Traveller is not another chapter in the ongoing history of the "anything goes" cult, not an overcooked stew praising the power of eclecticism, but simply an example of untamed fascination for sound. Frankly, Shed masters this almost naive approach perfectly and slaps the guards of the status quo right in the face. Again and again, Shed pulls little melodies from the depths of his studio and lets us discover our enthusiasm for the moment anew. He applies breakbeats bearing more history than the 909 bass drum where the 4/4 attack would have been the obvious choice, grants grandpa acid only a brief yet overwhelming guest appearance and deals with minimal dance music's heritage in a completely new, unexplored way. Always present: euphoria. With The Traveller, Shed manages the intangible and translates techno tracks into a shorter, yet crisper format, playing with tempi and moods. And yet each and every beat is right where it belongs, helping to merge every ingredient into an adventurous trip through a night one always dreams of and yet hardly ever gets. The album resonates from start to finish, is full of ideas, speaks dubstep and chooses radical approaches where other producers opt for the emergency exit of the lowest common denominator. The Traveller is the perfect base for everybody still willing to take a chance.

Format: 12"
Price: $10.00
Catalog #: OSTGUT 014EP
Tama Sumo and Prosumer present "Play Up" and "Brothers, Sisters": two tracks reminiscent of Trax. Kick drums and bass lines dig deep; funky, short guitar licks lead up to breaks after which arms fly to heaven and sweat drips from the ceiling. Prosumer knows just how to create those special moments by using only a few select, simple elements -- a technique Tama Sumo is familiar with as well. You can call it the everlasting laws of the old school!

Title: Fünf
Label: OSTGUT TON (GERMANY)
Format: 2CD
Price: $18.00
Catalog #: OSTGUT 015CD
Ostgut Ton releases this unique compilation of music crafted from field recordings made inside the two Berlin clubs Berghain and Panorama Bar. The concept and original recordings were made by the Berlin-based producer, Emika. Over a period of two months, Emika created the recordings in the clubs while they were closed to the public and edited them into a library of sounds. The library was then given to all the Ostgut Ton artists, but also to club associates like DJ Pete aka Substance, Dinky, Cassy, Margaret Dygas, Ryan Elliott and Scuba, using his SCB alias, to make music with. This release marks the celebration of the label's five year anniversary. Emika's idea started from feeling the whole building resonating from the music being played, which led to the question: which sounds exist here when there is no party? Intrigued by stories of how the club spaces and sound systems influence the resident DJ sets and productions, Emika was curious to explore what music could be made from the building itself. Berghain's sound technicians Krischan Makswitat and Silvio König helped to record the entire light rig including the strobe lights, which in itself sounds like techno. Other interesting sources to record were the large cooling rooms used for storing thousands of drinks in bottles. The ventilation systems in these rooms make incredible sub-frequencies mixed with the sound of the bottles vibrating against each other. The club also contains large swings made from metal which creak and moan at the slightest of movement. In total, the library comprised over four gigabytes of sounds, and the artists were not given restrictions on how to make music from the library. The tracks on this compilation consist of each artist's signature production aesthetics and feature debut solo productions by residents Fiedel (one-half of seminal Berlin-based outfit MMM), Boris and Prosumer's long term production partner, Tama Sumo. All together, this release highlights the special and inseparable relationships between the label, club space, and collective of artists. Other artists include: Marcel Fengler, Nick Höppner, Shed, Steffi, Len Faki, Barker & Baumecker, Marcel Dettmann, Murat Tepeli (feat. Elif Biçer), Soundstream, Ben Klock, Norman Nodge, and Luke Slater.

Title: Berghain 02 Part 1
Label: OSTGUT TON (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $10.00
Catalog #: OSTGUT 015EP
Berghain 02 is Ostgut's second installment of their Berghain mix CD series, mixed and compiled by resident DJ Marcel Dettmann. The label will be releasing four exclusive tracks Marcel has used for his mix exclusively on vinyl in advance as a two part set. Part I features tracks by Shed and Tobias. Shed focuses on the essential soul of Detroit techno that glows from the inside with a 1993 euphoria. Tobias delivers a slowly-building percussive monster that is hypnotic and bass-heavy.

Artist: STEFFI
Title: Yours & Mine
Label: OSTGUT TON (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $15.50
Catalog #: OSTGUT 016CD

Label: OSTGUT TON (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: OSTGUT 016EP
Marcel Dettmann mixed the second installment of Ostgut's Berghain mix CD series, and these are four exclusive tracks that comprise a two part set. Norman Nodge's "Native Rhythm Electric" possesses subtle, rhythmic modulations, analog hiss, and a reduced, dirty sound design. Samuli Kemppi contributes "Vangel," probably the most direct and kicking track in this series and 100% pure techno -- strum & drang that heralds a rave apocalypse by using a massive bell riff.

Title: Panorama Bar 03
Label: OSTGUT TON (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $15.50
Catalog #: OSTGUT 017CD
This is the third mix CD from Ostgut Ton commemorating Berlin's legendary Panorama Bar. Prosumer is no unknown quantity anymore. In 2005, he donated Playhouse a veritable hit with "The Craze" which led to the recognition that lascivious house music with male vocals doesn't necessarily have to come out of the holy trinity (Chicago, Detroit and New York). Prosumer's music (be it as producer and remixer with Murat Tepeli, Tama Sumo or on his own) and his DJ-sets breathe autonomy and individuality and preserve the basic ethos of the founding fathers. He follows the primal credo of disco's deified bastard: to jack the groove of all grooves. Here you have his first officially-available mix. Concurrently a document of Prosumer's symbiotic relationship with the already legendary club, Panorama Bar 03 wraps all the things up that make Prosumer such an exceptional DJ. Seemingly without any effort, he connects songs and tracks from yesterday, today and tomorrow. Tracks that follow the textbook example of house (DJ Duke's tribute to Larry Heard) and tracks that need Prosumer's touch to be identified as such (Lil Silva). Exclusive dubplates from his Panorama Bar fellow Steffi and Berlin's hotshot Hunee meet well-placed and unreleased skyrockets from Soundstore, T.S.O.S. and Soundso. Theo Parrish jacks with the young and wild Morgan Geist, while secret matters from the Romanthony vaults ("The House Of God") swing with a fantastic Jeff Mills in disguise (Servo Unique). Other artists include: Circulation, J.T. Melody, Tina René, Fingers Inc, Oracy, i and QX-1.

Title: Friction/Yaki
Label: OSTGUT TON (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: OSTGUT 017EP
Marcel Fengler displays two different sides to his abilities with one primetime techno banger and one more experimental cut with a strong dubstep influence. "Friction" is meant for a big techno dancefloor -- it is a self-assured DJ tool that keeps a perfect balance between deepness and peak-time energy. "Yaki" is his first track ever that features a broken beat. Accompanied by noisy fragments and dark, industrial synth stabs, this track remains deeply rooted in the Berghain sound.

Title: Berghain 05
Label: OSTGUT TON (GERMANY)
Format: CD
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: OSTGUT 019CD
This is the fifth volume in Ostgut's Berghain series, mixed by Marcel Fengler. With the focus on more current developments in more edgy techno and house, combined with a hearty nod to the past, the Berghain mix continues with newcomers like Puresque showing promise, alongside a weighty new Ben Sims track, and the pounding filtered glory of Vril's "UV" -- another exclusive for the mix. Marcel includes a new track that heads straight for the floor with "Sphinx," while Skudge put forward "Man On Wire." The slow burning house of Reagenz's "The Labyrinth" leads us into a psychedelic game of funk, dub and abstraction as the mix winds down. Before drawing to a close with Convextion aka E.R.P's stunning "Vapor Pressure," we're treated to a UK house classic by 20:20 Vision's "Future Remembrance (Livestyle Mix)," in all its analog glory. On Berghain 05, Marcel Fengler has proved filling floors doesn't have to be about ticking boxes. This mix is a perfect example of the type of dexterity, sensitivity and scope he possesses as a DJ. Other artists include: Emika, Marcel Dettmann, Peter Van Hoesen, Terrence Dixon, Octagen, Byetone, Dr. Walker, Tommy Four Seven, Regis, Secret Cinema, Minneapolis, Ratio, Gerd, Duplex, Seiji, Claude Young & Takasi Nakajima and Ben Sims.

Catalog #: OSTGUT 019EP
Before One precedes Ben Klock's debut album One, featuring 4 tracks, of which only one, "Init Two," will be included on the album. These tracks point to where One is heading: classic techno with heart and soul. Ben matches his original, bass-heavy Berghain sound with almost tender acid sequences on "Subzero," shuffling monster grooves on "Napoleon Hill," catchy melodies on "Before One," and an homage to Berlin/Detroit-inspired ambient on "Init Two." This is the perfect record for self-respecting techno DJs everywhere.

In his own words, it's a project that stays very true and honest to the Planetary Assault Systems goal: a journey of discovery, to create new sounds which are not otherwise present in club music at this time. From the album's beautiful introductory track "Railer (Further Exploration)," which floats through the bubbling ether before leading into the mysterious depths of "Beauty In The Fear," it is clear that Slater's role as sound explorer and adventurer has been dutifully fulfilled. With a sense of timing that can only be expected from such an experienced DJ and musician, we are led through a series of stand-out tracks, where no one feels less pure, yet each has their own voice. Indeed, there's a strong club element present here -- Slater play-tested all the tracks and employed a careful editing process to make sure they all fit the description. Highly playable works of club-intended sound art, early heavy moments like "Bell Blocker" or the playful "Wriss" give way to even more severe messages as "Kray Squid" pulses onto the radar with magnetic energy. The drum barrage of "Rip The Cut" speaks directly to the dancefloor, perhaps the most rhythmically-intense moment of the album, which is not to be put lightly as the rolling, filtering tones of "Cold Bolster" and "Black Tea" urge us further into perfectly frenetic moments.

Artist: SHED
Title: Remixes
Label: OSTGUT TON (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: OSTGUT 020EP
Ostgut Ton presents 2 remixes of tracks from Shed's highly-acclaimed Shedding The Past album. Both Surgeon and Martyn are protagonists of the current dubstep/techno cross-pollination, breathing new life into more sophisticated DJ sets. Although Surgeon sticks to a thumping 4/4 kick on his Shed remix, the tricky beat programming and bass line make for a rather unique flow. Martyn's remix transforms the original into a compelling dancefloor affair, complete with broken beats, vocal snippets and a murderous bass line. Two killers, no fillers.

Artist: HOPPNER, NICK
Title: Makeover/Foundling
Label: OSTGUT TON (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: OSTGUT 021EP
MyMy member Nick Höppner returns to OstGut Ton, paying tribute to his residencies both at Panorama Bar and Berghain. There's the rather house-y "Makeover" and the deep techno of "Foundling," two tracks which are warm, smooth, and universally useful. "Makeover" dives deep into peak-time and after-hour sensibilities, contemporary house, and timeless voodoo, making it one of Höppner's strongest efforts to date. "Foundling" ups the ante by deploying huge, dubby sound characteristics which will devastate any techno dancefloor.

Artist: LIONNI/RADIO SLAVE, TONY
Title: Berghain 03 - Part I
Label: OSTGUT TON (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: OSTGUT 022EP
In anticipation of Berghain 03 by Len Faki, Ostgut Ton releases two 12"s featuring the exclusive material of Len's mix, which is too good to keep from DJs. Berghain 03 - Part I contains tracks by Tony Lionni and Radio Slave. Lionni's track is reminiscent of Mark Kinchen's best efforts, or even early Basement Jaxx. Radio Slave's is one steamroller of a dub-techno track with a dry and precise kick, a smacking bass line, and slow, but consistently modulating stabs.

Artist: EDIT SELECT/LEN FAKI
Title: Berghain 03 - Part II
Label: OSTGUT TON (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: OSTGUT 023EP
Edit-Select is both the label and music project of Scottish DJ Tony Scott, and nearly all of his minimal techno tracks have been played and charted by respected DJs such as Luciano, Ben Klock and Richie Hawtin. "Bauer" features a stoic rhythm, sparse sci-fi tricks, and a stretched pad, turning the track into a hypnotic tool. "BX 3" is one of those typical Len Faki productions which draws on an abundance of resources: alarm sirens, white noise, and a massive kick drum.

Artist: PLANETARY ASSAULT SYSTEMS
Title: Temporary Suspension
Label: OSTGUT TON (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: OSTGUT 024EP
Be it Detroit techno, obscure electronica, ambient, or conceptual electro, Luke Slater has definitely left his stamp on the last two decades as a DJ and a producer. This time, he returns under his legendary techno pseudonym Planetary Assault Systems with the Temporary Suspension EP, a taster of his eponymously-titled album on Ostgut Ton. With this two-tracker, he shows how techno with a healthy dose of toughness should be done, and both tracks are uncompromising DJ tools for the peak-time.

Artist: DEUCE
Title: Deuce
Label: OSTGUT TON (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: OSTGUT 025EP
Deuce aka Marcel Dettmann and René Pawlowitz (aka Shed) present their first collaborative effort. The duo are colleagues and partners during the day at the Hard Wax record store, and during the night at the Berghain club. "Twerp Wiz" is unadulterated peak-time techno, with nagging sequences and metallic percussion. "Guttering" works with an unusual and fresh rhythm for a massive track that puts dancers into a state of deep concentration. Finally, "Cue Ed" is a slamming reminiscence of Chicago.

Artist: KLOCK, BEN
Title: Remixes
Label: OSTGUT TON (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: OSTGUT 026EP
Presenting an unbeatable remix package of tracks from Ben Klock's debut album, One. Robert Hood injects a kick-drum, clear synth-stabs and fragments of Elif Biçer's voice into "Godly Sin," turning the original into a massive techno stomper. Regis & Function's rework of "Subzero" (originally released on Klock's Before One EP) is crisp and cold late-night techno in the tradition of Chain Reaction and Downwards. Finally, Kenny Larkin's remix features a bulky beat and dramatic strings caressed by sweet piano patterns.

Artist: FENGLER, MARCEL
Title: Twisted Bleach
Label: OSTGUT TON (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: OSTGUT 027EP
This is Marcel Fengler's third 12" -- quality over quantity. The title track infuses a dirty Chicago sound with a house swing and a dry sense of humor. "Gridlock" has already earned the label "Berghain-approved" -- a heavy, atmospheric track that builds dense tension. "Chi Twine" experiments with broken rhythms and the artist's hip-hop past by fusing electro beats with techno qualities, making for an atmospheric, sci-fi track for the wee hours.

Artist: BASIC SOUL UNIT/LEROSA
Title: Panorama Bar 02/Part 1
Label: OSTGUT TON (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: OSTGUT 028EP
Along with Tama Sumo's Panorama 02 mix, Ostgut Ton will release a two-part vinyl set, including four exclusive tracks which feature on the CD. Part one presents a track from Basic Soul Unit with a Fingers-esque bass line -- a simple beat progressing and building into the pads and synths. Somewhere between Chicago and Detroit deep house via Toronto. Lerosa presents "Plesso," a fusion of eerie atmospheres created by artists like Theo Parrish, Omar-S and Stasis.

Artist: VINCENT/STEFFI, LEVON
Title: Panorama Bar 02/Part II
Label: OSTGUT TON (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: OSTGUT 029EP
This is part two in a vinyl series of exclusive tracks off of Panorama Bar 02 (OSTGUT 010CD), mixed by Tamo Suma. On Levon Vincent: "I really like his rough approach to music; the deep sub-bass, his dubby touch and his epic, hypnotic arrangements. It all sounds very edgy and dirty." On Steffi : "I like Steffi's sensitivity for music ... We share a love for deep and melodic music."

Artist: PROSUMER & MURAT TEPELI
Title: U & I/The Jam
Label: OSTGUT TON (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: OSTGUT 030EP
Cologne-Berlin duo Prosumer and Murat Tepeli deliver trend-resistant deephouse, brimming with their unmistakable signature sound. "U & I" is based around an adorably old school bassline that Larry Heard would be proud of. Prosumer and female singer Elif Biçer share vocal duties, revealing a touching story about night clubbing and human relations. Based on the recordings for "U & I," "The Jam" is a techno-oriented, instrumental side that caters to a more upbeat dancefloor. Their most energetic effort to date.

Artist: PLANETARY ASSAULT SYSTEMS
Title: Remixes
Label: OSTGUT TON (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: OSTGUT 031EP
Ostgut Ton explore the outer limits with Planetary Assault Systems remixes by Al Tourettes & Appleblimand Deuce. Al Tourettes and Appleblim contort and re-form "X Speaks To X" into a devious, hot-footed celebration of dark and intense broken-beat electronics. Tight, tensile and direct, the pair intertwine thick synth patterns and shuddering, sub-sonic bass lines around the heavy, morphing groove. Deuce turn in a relentless yet smoothly-rounded version of "Hold It," which drones and phases to the point of hypnosis.

Artist: STEFFI (FEAT. ELIF BICER)
Title: Kill Me
Label: OSTGUT TON (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: OSTGUT 032EP
Steffi's touching, classic-jack-inspired productions continue to gracefully bubble towards the international surface with this 12''. "Kill Me" continues the warm night-time vibes and opens Steffi's signature sound up into a full celebration of house featuring the sultry vocal talents of Elif Biçer. An instrumental dub is also included for the creative use of the DJ. Steffi's "Crushed Soul" mix is bass line led and focused on clean, precisely-measured beats and synth lines to tell a captivating story.

Artist: DETTMANN, MARCEL
Title: Dettmann Remixed
Label: OSTGUT TON (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: OSTGUT 033EP
In anticipation of Marcel Dettmann's debut full-length, Ostgut Ton presents a remix package of four original tracks, courtesy of Norman Nodge and Wincent Kunth. From the very first bar of Norman Nodge's remix of "Shift," an urgent, pumping charge of fizzing electricity is let loose, letting the arrangement simply flow. More raw energy powers through his remix of "Unrest." Taking a recognizably metallic Dettmann-forged synth pattern, Nodge's frenetic yet respectfully withheld structure guides you sure and steady through the smokescreen.

Artist: HOPPNER, NICK
Title: Brush Me Down EP
Label: OSTGUT TON (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: OSTGUT 034EP
Nick Höppner presents 3 excursions for Ostgut Ton, plus a remix by Lee Jones. Almost entirely constructed from field recordings taken within the walls of Berghain, "Brush Me Down" is a textural, energetic jam. Jones' remix is a fragmented jazz interpretation that brings together club, dub and 2step. "Umbrella Pitch" unfolds like a sinister drama, with a warm and exultant theme slowly emerging. "Dancing On The Head Of A Pin" is a super-concentrated symphony that bubbles and floats along in its own celestial realm.

Artist: GALLUZZI & DANA RUH, ANDRE
Title: Freya/Mauersegler
Label: OSTGUT TON (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: OSTGUT 035EP
André Galluzzi finally returns home alongside close colleague Dana Ruh, with this 2-track foray into cutting-edge, hypnotic territories. "Freya" is an understated cut whose attitude lies within the strength of insistent drum patterns, rolling arrangements, and no-nonsense resolutions. Fluttering vocal utterances and Dadaist crescendos characterize this refined ode to percussion. "Mauersegler" weaves a more urgent path -- tripping delay and a gentle dose of softly-voiced manipulations lock the listener into this undulating slice of next-wave minimalism.

Artist: SUMO & PROSUMER, TAMA
Title: Rarified
Label: OSTGUT TON (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: OSTGUT 036EP
Tama Sumo & Prosumer journey further into classic analog territory with a wild, rough and direct remix from Detroit's The Oliverwho Factory. "Rarified" flows like a classic Chicago cut -- reduced, metallic and full of warm bass pressure -- while the left-field melody evokes memories of early Warp electronica. The Oliverwho Factory's remix effortlessly flows through jazz to powerful house and raw, room-filling electronics. "Flow Figure" is a freaky, funk-infected concoction of electricity, human energy and booty-shakin' grooves.

Artist: MARTYN/ROMAN LINDAU
Title: Berghain 04 - Part I
Label: OSTGUT TON (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: OSTGUT 037EP
This is the first of three samplers (parts I & II on vinyl, part III digital-only), showcasing some of the exclusive new tracks chosen for Ben Klock's Berghain 04 (OSTGUT 013CD) mix compilation. Martyn's "Miniluv" steps around a more solid 4/4 framework, yet typically dubbed, warm elements breeze by as an ethereal theme emerges amongst the lovingly-placed dusty grooves. Roman Lindau's "Keppra" is a solid, experimentally-edged slice of atmospheric club music, conjuring images of industrial works, iron foundries and sunken warehouses.

Artist: RUSKIN/KEVIN GORMAN, JAMES
Title: Berghain 04 - Part II
Label: OSTGUT TON (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: OSTGUT 038EP

Part II features a couple of vertebrae from the backbone of UK techno today; James Ruskin and Kevin Gorman. James Ruskin's contribution is a fizzing, reduced exercise in tension, subtraction and hypnosis. Rousing stabs arrive, depart, and then return, while a thunderous bottom end holds us all in suspense.

Artist: L.B. DUB CORP
Title: Take It Down (In Dub)
Label: OSTGUT TON (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: OSTGUT 039EP
British techno pioneer Luke Slater's L.B. Dub Corp arrives on Ostgut Ton in its latest electronic mutation. "Take It Down (In Dub)" is an extended experiment in dub textures. With reduced club energy at its core, Slater heats up his dynamic onset of sound, slowly unleashing a heavy, twisted funnel of steam and metal. "It's What You Feel" sustains melody with classic house vibes. This rare L.B. Dub Corp appearance reveals the more esoteric end of Luke Slater's creative spectrum.

Artist: BARKER & BAUMECKER
Title: Candyflip
Label: OSTGUT TON (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: OSTGUT 040EP
Andreas Baumecker and Sam Barker are a production partnership closely founded upon their love for more experimental dance sounds. Straddling the boundaries between emotional, classically-inspired techno and heavy broken beat electronics, "Candyflip" is a wonderfully analog-sounding tribute to years in the underground. Echoes of the past resound throughout this moody epic while stark, futuristic elements urge it forward. Stepping into "The Hole," a darker sound takes precedence, as a deep, tripping techno jam unfolds from the pair's machines.

Artist: FENGLER, MARCEL
Title: Enigma EP
Label: OSTGUT TON (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: OSTGUT 041EP
Berghain resident Marcel Fengler is one of the frontmen of raw and forward-pushing techno. This 12" is comprised of three jacking, factory-forged tracks, leading us further down his mysterious path. Like a hot-headed live jam in a humid Chicago basement, "Rapture" gathers up all the energy of classic house, infuses it with a no-nonsense progression and then throws it into the deep end. "RazKaz" jumps off the platter with nervous intensity as a warbling synthscape massages itself into your consciousness.

Artist: KLOCK, BEN
Title: Compression Session
Label: OSTGUT TON (GERMANY)

Catalog #: OSTGUT 042EP
Ben Klock continues his exploration into the many zones and movements within the techno world. Now you have the chance to experience "Compression Session 1" in its full melancholic beauty, along with two other new tracks. Climbing synth themes float amongst a barrage of drums in this rather anthemic yet controlled session from Klock. On "Static Test," Klock concentrates on some really heavy, prominent raw grooves. "Compression Session 2" blends warm, analog textures, frenetic tones and accurate, intense drum programming.

Artist: ROLANDO
Title: 5 To 8 EP
Label: OSTGUT TON (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: OSTGUT 043EP
This is Rolando's first 12'' for Ostgut Ton with two diverse tunes. Ben Klock featured both tracks on his Berghain 04 mix, and now you can enjoy the full tracks in their own right. "De Cago" sees Rolando work crisp, modern drums and edgy, acidic synths into the mix, resulting in a potent concoction of jacking, edgy techno funk. "Junie" is a multi-layered half-tempo exploration into eerie harmonics and slow-building passages.

Title: Rocksteady EP
Label: OSTGUT TON (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00

Detroit's Ryan Elliott is a recognized force on the international DJ circuit -- yet his productions are few and far between. Now relocated to Berlin, the new Berghain resident contributed his track "Abatis" to the Fünf anniversary compilation, setting the tone with dark and brooding techno undercurrents. These two new tracks bring Ryan's production skills to the fore; both slow-burning and refined recordings that show off his love for bass-line-led, straight-forward club tools.

Label: OSTGUT TON (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: OSTGUT 045EP
Norman Nodge offers up his first full EP for Ostgut Ton with three contemplative tracks."The Happenstance" is a warm and fresh embodiment of '80s wave electronic, like a classic Carpenter score. "Body To Body" floats into spacious, acidic zones, taking us in a very different yet equally rewarding direction. An ornate exercise in reduction, "Breakdown" is a slow and measured display of Nodge's unique synthesized visions -- a hint of what's to come next from this talented producer.

Format: 12"

This EP showcases three special remixes of tracks off Steffi's debut album Yours & Mine (OSTGUT 016CD/008LP). Staffan Lindberg's hypnotic, rave-tinged mix of "Yours" weaves an intricate tale for the dancefloor -- nothing is rushed and the classic elements have room to shine in his fluid arrangement. Lone's remix works the Chicago-vibed "Arms" into a magical cosmic future-acid trip. The Analogue Cops' pumping remix of "You Own My Mind" is a perfect example of their trademark rough, tripped-out house vibe.

Price: $12.00
Catalog #: OSTGUT 049EP

The spaced-out and traveling "She Parked Herself" features bubbling percussion and pretty melodic structures fusing with an analog bassline in this high-tech and positive jam. "Swivel Flick" slows the pace in a warm, dubbed and droning thinkpiece that really shows off Nick's talent for a non-standard groove.
