"
Back for Basics
is John Tejada and Arian Leviste's first full-length collaboration since their remarkable
Fairfax Sake
album on German Playhouse in 2003 and maybe altogether their best production to date. The 10 tracks of the CD (8 brand new plus the recently released 'Psycho Happiness' and 'Ghetto Platipus') flow together like one piece and come on like a highly-needed techno landmark in the 'conscious' retro electro times of 2005. Just check how the nervous feel of 'Patterns' gloriously blends with the warm liquidy electronic bliss of 'From Empty Words' and back to the energetic 'Triad Jack' -- sensible, intense and tempting for more. Tejada and Leviste's advanced production technique makes a sound you'll be hard put to name, right in the sweet spot between house and techno, breaks and 808s, plucked strings and patch cables, edits and immediacy. It's sunlight and silicon; it's a breath of fresh air. Can you feel it?"

Mono On Mono Rmxs by Pole & Plaid
Label:
PALETTE
Format:

Price:
$12.00
Catalog #:
PAL 040EP
Remixes by Plain and Pole. "Tejada's all-time-classic - the clickety, euphoric 'Mono on Mono' gets a competent make-over by some of the electronic world's most unique sound-surgeons Plaid and Pole. First up is the most adventurous duo of Warp darlings Plaid who throw down a wiggling kinda broken electric-boogie beat paired with a tender main melody that has a sound between steeldrums and a children's musical box before we're lead into a more improvisational part that reminds of a electronically alienated muted French horn. Rather known as breeder of abstract, irregular rhythms reduced to the max, Pole catches us off-guard with a clever 4/4 dance interpretation. It still has his trademark crackling sounds and an affinity to classic dub technics with it's heavy, stoically pounding bassline dropping in and out of the mix yet manages in a 'finale furioso' with just cranking up the volume of one mad, spinet-like loop towards the end to set a primary rave signal driving a dancing crowd nuts."

PAL 041EP
Justin Maxwell
offers the full spectrum of dark abstract tech-funk in three tracks. "Tussincussion" features a blood-chilling melody sounding right out of a
John Carpenter
movie, billowing like fog over a crumbling beat. "Hardware Store" starts out like a slowed down dubstepper with flocking birds, a tweeked electro beat, and other psychotic sounds. "Stegosaurus" boasts a lugging bassline and a beat that swings and sways like the massive saurian. Haunting, sophisticated and complex sound-constructions that dare you to listen to them alone in the dark.

PAL 042CD
John Tejada
has produced some of the most memorable dance singles of this decade. As a remixer there are few who exceed his talents and output.
Cleaning Sounds...
marks the 10th year of his label and is an artist at his most mature, taking in house, electro and techno under a surgeon's scalpel. Born in Vienna, Tejada moved to the US and soon discovered
Afrika Bambaataa
and
Kraftwerk
. Having learned the piano by the age of four, music-making came quite naturally and since 1996 this Mexican-Austrian-American has been straddling the continents with his sound: a minimal and danceable groove. It's no surprise he has crossed over into pop via his friend
Jimmy Tamborello
(
Dntel
,
Postal Service
) or that his tracks can regularly be found atop charts in Europe, Asia and beyond.
Cleaning Sounds...
is 10 new tracks from this mastermind, one of the most gifted musicians in the electronic landscape. Once it finds a place in your mind, it's not due to leave anytime soon.

This 3-tracker starts off a string of 12"s by the collaborative genius of
John Tejada
and
Arian Leviste
. This duo multiplies the motion, the funk, the accurate timing, the control, the tension, the groove, the deepness, the classic techno-ness, for this release. Check out the ultra-intense, sturdy "Multiplier," an awfully rocking definite consensus tune in the making. "Mathemagician" feels like the "Mono On Mono" update you've been waiting for.

PAL 045EP
Wavescraper
is
John Tejada
's first outing since last year's
Cleaning Sounds Is A Filthy Business
album. Based mostly around his new custom modular system, "Wavescraper" is an exploration into patch cable madness, taking the dance floor on a twisting crazy journey. "Model 12" is classic Tejada, with its smoothed-out lead and soulful elements. "Symmetry" rounds off the EP with complex ideas and subtle experimentation.

Catalog #:
PAL 050CD
This is California-based producer
John Tejada
's 11th full-length release. Normally associated with his peers in techno from Detroit, Europe and elsewhere, John Tejada has embraced electronic music as a personal frontier, expanding on his résumé as a techno recording artist, producer, remixer, DJ, and label owner. Known for crafting a brand of subtle, musical techno, his recorded output ranges across tempo and genre lines, from chilled-out affairs with spacious arrangements to pulsating, densely layered, deeply energetic tracks that work magnificently in the hands of DJs as well as on the home stereo.
Where
ventures away from many of his own trademarks, journeying into an intimate vibe of warm pulses and bright energies. The tracks take expectations and enlighten them with a collection of grooves and tweaks that are spacious and rhythmic while being devoid of predictability. The fifth track, "Desire," features a first-time collaboration with
Nicolette
who, having notoriety for her early '90s hit "No Government" as well as previous work with
Massive Attack
and
Plaid
, lends her vocal talents to a sonic gem that is magic in itself.
Where
is not a typical cerebral approach to electronic music. Rather, it is "soul-ebral" in its ubiquity, giving the listener a rare vision of a melodic spin wherein Tejada can be seen in his studio creating life, breathing through synths.
