Pampa is a new label from DJ Koze and Marcus Fink, dedicated to releasing club music that's seriously danceable. The first release is by Die Vogel, a collaborative project between Jakobus Siebels and Mense Reents. "Blaue Moschee" features oompa-style brass looped over a stripped-back kick-drum. "Petardo" is driven by growling trombones and tubas set to a rolling, tribal drum tattoo with '60s British jazz horns and fiery woodwinds. "Empire" finds exquisitely-arranged brass parts interlocking into a single-minded groove.

Pampa presents an album by German electronic artist/DJ/producer Gabor Schablitzki aka Robag Wruhme. In contrast to Robag Wruhme's first album Wuzzelbud KK (MKR 001CD/LP), Thora Vukk is "more grounded and filled with melodies and self-recorded samples -- ideal for the bedroom or passenger cabins of any kind." Schablitzki created a huge library of sounds, like slamming drawers or mid-summer rain recorded in his friends' spacious kitchen. Those field recordings are no secondary accessories. By setting them into a rhythmic shape, they dominate the structure of the tracks. Due to the constant variation, the fan of the grooves opens up every time in a new manner. This is thoughtful, contemplative minimalism in its most organically-structured form. CD housed in a 6-page digipak foldout, inside out.

Jackmate is Michel Baumann's club-focused alter ego. Finally reissued and at a mid-line price! Pampa re-releases Isolée's debut 2000 album Rest, newly-remastered and including two bonus tracks previously only available on vinyl. Dancefloors worldwide went up in flames and still do so when they hear Rajko Müller's electronic trips. With "Beau Mot Plage," Müller imposed himself on the international auditory consciousness. This track hit the roof shortly after its release in 1999 as one of the most influential German musical productions since Kraftwerk. Isolée's debut album brings this track down from its pedestal and puts it back where it belongs along with the other exceptional harmonious tunes throughout the whole album. Basses drip out of the speakers in a seemingly unpretentious way, only to conquer slowly but steadily all the hidden angles of a room. On DJ Koze's debut Rue Burnout EP from his own Pampa label, he plays with finesse and sophistication, and implicitly understands the importance of subtlety, leading from dreamy and restrained parts to a noisy frenzy at the end. "Blume Der Nacht" starts with a looped piano solo from Arabian dodecaphony, interwoven with bangs of violin bows, piercing high-pitched strings, almost shrieking glissandi, deep angel chants and obsessive, sharp rhythms. It's very rare that you find house music this excitingly light-footed.

This is the long-awaited second album from German producer Ada on DJ Koze's Pampa Records. Meine Zarten Pfoten ("My Tender Paws") is the eagerly-awaited album by Lady Ada that everybody's been longing to get a hold of for so long. Her second album after debut Blondie (AREAL 026LP) truly is a revelation. Ada has successfully cast off that four-to-the-floor yoke and has recorded songs that go way beyond all our well-known categories, hovering above everything in a state of serene disengagement. Ada aka Michaela Dippel has recorded all the instruments herself. The atmosphere builds up slowly, with nothing to prove -- but then try listening to it over headphones: the sheer amount of sensory impressions is overwhelming. There are subtle textures, woven together with an apparent lightness and casualness. This is also the reason why Meine Zarten Pfoten took such a long time to record. Creating lightness is the most difficult task of all.
