PEPPERMINTS, THE
Title:
Jesüs Chryst
Label:
PAW TRACKS
Format:
CD
Price:
$13.00
Catalog #:
PAW 007CD
"Over the years San Diego's The Peppermints have brutalized many a town, blown out many a speaker, blackened many an eye, and blistered many an eardrum. What began as an idea (pure, dirty, and loud) became an ideal for these self-proclaimed kings and queens of experimental barfy trash-rock. The Animal Collective, having befriended the group years ago and being thoroughly impressed with their sound and live show, asked them to record this record for their Paw Tracks imprint. Often compared to groups like Melt Banana, Joan Jett, The Fall, and The Soft Boys, but ultimately flummoxing even the most erudite and articulate critic, The Peppermints now unleash their second full-length
Jesüs Chryst
and await the rapture."
Artist:
PINK'S HAUNTED GRAFFITI 5, ARIEL
Title:
House Arrest
Label:
PAW TRACKS
Format:
CD
Price:
$13.00
Catalog #:
PAW 008CD
"Think you've heard enough Ariel Pink? Well our favorite omnivorous media junkie from LA still has a few tricks left up his sleeve -- like the left-of-center
House Arrest
. Sure
The Doldrums
and
Worn Copy
had some hits and humdingers on them, but
House Arrest
never lets up. It's hit after hit after hit. Sorta like if you listened to your friend's boombox mix tape from Top 40 radio around 1985. Some people might think that sounds like a recipe for disaster. We say bring on the Doritos."
Artist:
TERRESTRIAL TONES
Title:
Dead Drunk
Label:
PAW TRACKS
Format:

Price:
$11.00
Catalog #:
PAW 009LP
LP version. "Brooklyn's Terrestrial Tones is the roommate duo of Eric Copeland (Black Dice) and Dave Portner (The Animal Collective)."
Artist:
FIRST NATION
Title:
First Nation
Label:
PAW TRACKS
Format:
CD
Price:
$13.00
Catalog #:
PAW 011CD
"After their first seven inch release on Paw Tracks and a successful tour supporting the Animal Collective, the First Nation ladies now drop their self-titled debut stunner. We could throw a bone and say they sound sorta like an updated Raincoats or The Slits. But hell it's 2006 and First Nation live in New York Fucking City. They're too smart for RIYL boners. First Nation definitely employ the loosey poppy songwriting method made popular by their buddies the Animal Collective and Gang Gang Dance. But they bring a quieter and, dare we say, softer side to this sound. There's even a kinda cool trancey tribal thing going on that they probably got from listening to some damaged techno?or maybe one too many Folkways compilations (one member of the band IS an anthropologist)."
