"Plastique Records was established primarily to showcase experimental works by international artists. Maxime, who is based in Montreal, Canada, has been performing and recording since the early 80s. A few years ago, Max began working with the idea of automated musical instruments: machines that could create music on their own or in conjunction with human musicians. After a couple of of years of experimentation and development, Max created a series of machines, robots and puppets which produced music. Unlike other musician/artists currently working with automated musical machines, the Automates run independently, without computer or MIDI interfacing and completely in the analogue realm. All of the music on this recording was improvised between Automates and human musicians."
