Title: Beat Legends
Label: PSEUDONYM RECORDS (NETHERLANDS)
Format: BOOK/CD
Price: $37.00
Catalog #: VP 1012CD
"For eighteen months, five teenagers from Amsterdam held the pop world spellbound. The Outsiders were stars from the moment they outshone The Rolling Stones, when they appeared as their supporting act in the Brabanthallen in March 1966. With all that stardom entailed: hits, delirious fans and exaggerated newspaper headlines about their long hair and wild performances. But the bubble burst before singer Wally Tax's 21st birthday and The Outsiders split up. What remained is the memory of one of the best beat bands that The Netherlands has ever known. Beat Legends tells the story of The Outsiders in words and pictures, with wonderful photographic material, legendary record sleeves and tantalizing newspaper cuttings. Plus a free CD of unique live recordings of The Outsiders at the pinnacle of their fame, the first two singles for the illustrious Muziek Expres label and a radio session for the progressive broadcasting company the VPRO, recorded in the then-newly opened rock club Fantasio." Hardcover book (9 x 6.75 inches) with 192 glossy pages of sepia & color photographs.

Artist: CIRCUS
Title: Circus
Label: PSEUDONYM RECORDS (NETHERLANDS)
Format: LP
Price: $29.00
Catalog #: VP 99015LP
"Circus had everything to become the first Dutch super band, along the lines of a.o. Cream and Blind Faith. In January 1968 guitarist and composer Frank Nuyens and drummer/lyricist Jay Baar rose from the ashes of Q65. Herman Brood (Cuby + B) would play piano and Henk Smitskamp (Motions) was approached as bassist/singer. Smitskamp however, chose for After Tea and Brood just did not show up. Mark Klein (James Mean) joined as keyboardist, Frank Verhoef became the bassist/singer. With them, Nuyens and Baar made the first recordings. Later they went into the studio with producer Hans van Hemert, for the complex basis of Mother Motha's Sundance. Although the focus was on instrumental pieces, Circus planned to use a different singer for each song. Hans van Hemert did the 'guide-vocal' of Voluntary Peacemaker and Wim Bieler put his teeth in Fairy Tales of Truth, a long drawn out song full of psychedelia. Circus groundbreaking sound was attracting serious interest from Apple Records, the label of The Beatles. But their recording career never went beyond a test pressing of the single Medusa- recently found in the archives of Hitweek. Since Q65 had split up, but was contractually obliged to deliver one more album, a number of Circus songs landed on the last Q65 LP, Revival. Four decades later Circus presents the original rough working versions, different and sometimes longer than what appeared on Revival. Justice at last, for a band that existed only for a short period, but that made a big impression by their productivity and - above all - creativity. Black vinyl 180 grams. 350 grams carton sleeve. Japanese plastic bag. "

Artist: ZIPPS, THE
Title: Kicks And Chicks: Ever Stoned
Label: PSEUDONYM RECORDS (NETHERLANDS)
Format: LP
Price: $29.00
Catalog #: VP 99016LP
"The remaining members of The Moving Strings and The Beat-Town Skifflers formed The Zipps in the autumn of 1965. The band received national attention almost immediately because of their remarkable blend of folk-rock with beat influences. But The Zipps impressed even more when their music evolved to psychedelic, including a colorful, bubbling and mind-expanding light show. It was an awesome experience for mind and body! The fans put up stickers all over the Netherlands, with slogans like: 'Be Stoned,' dig The Zipps psychedelic sound. In 2011 The Zipps celebrate their 45th anniversary. The kick-off is this beautiful vinyl album Kicks & Chicks: Ever Stoned, with much unreleased material. Such as the original versions of 'Marie Juana (Give Me Your Smell)' and 'Benzedrine Bass Player (Hurry I Need Benzedrine),' the never-released single 'The Singer Was Stoned/Lotus Love,' instrumental versions, extended versions of 'Kicks and Chicks' and 'When You Tell It, Tell It Well ..!,' a live version of 'Roll The Cotton Down' in 1965 by The Beat-Town Skifflers and the previously unreleased 'Watch What Happens!' from 1971. All these wonderful sounds are packed into a stunning psychedelic sleeve ... Kicks & Chicks: Ever Stoned is a great monument to The Zipps and their legendary music ... Be Stoned! Dig the Zipps!"

Artist: TEE-SET
Title: Emotion
Label: PSEUDONYM RECORDS (NETHERLANDS)
Format: LP
Price: $29.00
Catalog #: VP 99017LP
"In the mid sixties beat groups got quite popular in the Netherlands. The Motions, Golden Earrings, Outsiders and Q65 manifested themselves in the footsteps of The Beatles, Rolling Stones and Pretty Things. In 1966 a new top band entered the scene, this time from Delft. After the hit singles 'Early in the Morning' and 'Believe What You Say,' songs written by Shocking Blue-guitarist Robbie van Leeuwen, in November 1968 the Tee-Set went into the GTB studio to record an album with all new songs. Stimulated by Harry Knipschild, manager Theo Kuppens and singer Peter Tetteroo, with a voice reminiscent of Stevie Winwood, decided to build Dave Van Ronk's 'Dont Leave Me Here' into the party song 'Dont You Leave.' The reactions to the album were phenomenal. The trendy Hitweek wrote: 'The Tee-Set album is, in one word, fantastic. With a sound that is solid like a brick house. This is the Nederlanger [Dutch LP] of the year! We do not get enthusiastic very fast, but this album is incredibly good. The Dutch Beat is on a roll.' 'Don't You Leave' became the Tee-Sets first top 10 hit. The album was also a great success. Unique in that time: Emotion was also released in Italy. Tee-Set continued. 'Ma Belle Amie' became a worldwide hit, and even landed in the U.S. Top 5. 'She Likes Weeds' was a number one in the Netherlands. The fantastic first album Emotion has now been remastered from the original master tapes for the first time. It sounds better than ever and is available with the original artwork. Enjoy the breakthrough of the Tee-Set." Original album & artwork from December 1966. Limited edition 300 copies; 180 grams vinyl housed in a 350 gram carton sleeve.

Format: 2LP
Price: $36.00
Catalog #: VP 99018LP
"Muziek Expres started out in 1965 as a Dutch music magazine gaining them a reputation as the music mag of the mid 60s in Holland. Trying to be on top of all wild developments that took place during those days the magazine started a label called Op-Art later to evolve into Yep where they released some 15 singles between 1965 and 1967 by the then new and upcoming Dutch 'Beat' bands such as Outsiders, Bintangs, Group 1850, Zipps, etc. On this double LP, Pseudonym have collected all tracks ever recorded for and released on the Op-Art/Yep labels including two unreleased versions by The Bumble Bees, later to be released in 'cleaned' versions on Philips. LPs are housed in stunning gatefold sleeve, the inside of which shows all the fantasies sleeves of the singles involved. A one of kind beauty of release!" Title: A Bag Full of Flames
Label: PSEUDONYM RECORDS (NETHERLANDS)
Format: LP
Price: $32.00
Catalog #: VP 99025LP
"Flame Records was launched in 1970, a new label ablaze with big ideas hatched over long nights in smoke-filled rooms. Like so many big ambitions born of smoke and idealism, Flame lasted only a short time before burning out, leaving behind just a handful of extremely rare releases, now highly prized by collectors, including a magical psychedelic folk album by Ton Vlasman, and a coveted 45 by Bag, now considered by many to be the best Dutch psychedelic single ever. This deluxe vinyl release presents the cream of Flames output, including the Bags magnificent 'Tripdream' and 'Nothing Will Remain,' Phoenix's 'Ode to Jimi Hendrix' and 'Reborn,' and coveted Dutch beat and psych tracks by Dennimaff, Sunshine Express, Rain and Double Dutch, whose 1967 mod stomper 'You're Out of Sight' features future Outsiders member Frank Beek. There are also three 1971 tracks by Belgian progressive rockers Kleptomania (three previously unreleased versions), and two tracks from Ton Vlasman's LP, including his haunting reading of the Velvet Undergrounds 'Pale Blue Eyes.' This collection comes packaged in specially designed sleeve by Marijke Koger-Dunham, the Amsterdam-based artist who was once part of The Fool design collective, whose work famously adorned the facade of the Beatles Apple boutique, Eric Clapton's Gibson SG, John Lennon's piano, George Harrison's mini, and the sleeves of several classic sixties albums (Hollies, Move, Incredible String Band). Included is an insert with liner notes by Mike Stax and band information. Comes in Japanese plastic bag. Remastered in the 24-bit domain from the original master tapes."

Artist: GROUP 1850
Title: Mother No-Head: Their 45s
Label: PSEUDONYM RECORDS (NETHERLANDS)
Format: 2LP
Price: $36.00
Catalog #: VP 99028LP
"Though they were a product of the beat group age, Group 1850 were the Netherlands' first progressive band - in every sense of that word. Constantly changing, constantly evolving, Group 1850 were musical extremists on a do-or-die mission to explode all expectations. Sparks flew, ideas flared, feedback swirled through misty nights, the dead walked, skeletons danced, flies buzzed, mountains fell, words rained fire from angry purple skies. Group 1850 raised all kinds of Hell. My god, were they good. Although the group made two deservedly revered albums, Agemos Trip to Mother Earth (1968) and Paradise Now (1969), some of their best work can be found on their singles, where their borderline insane hyper-creativity was focused into highly-concentrated, radically potent three-minute songs like 'Misty Night,' 'Mother No-Head,' 'Zero,' 'We Love Live (Like We Love You),' 'Don't Let It Be (We Have to Do It Now),' and the magnificent 'Have You Ever Heard.' The A- and B-sides of all their singles can be found on this 2-LP set in their original mono mixes, mastered from the original tapes. A number of previously unreleased demos are also included. Pressed on 180gm vinyl, Mother No-Head: Their 45s comes packaged in a breathtaking gatefold cover with rare archival photos and liner notes by Ugly Things Mike Stax. Remastered in the 24-bit domain from the original master tapes. 2LP black 180 gram vinyl, 350 grams carton gatefold sleeve packed in Japanese plastic bag."

Artist: OUTSIDERS
Title: Monkey On Your Back: Their 45s
Label: PSEUDONYM RECORDS (NETHERLANDS)
Format: 2LP
Price: $36.00
Catalog #: VP 99029LP
"The Netherlands boasted a fertile beat scene in the 1960s, but few bands could match the greatness of the Outsiders from Amsterdam. Led by the uniquely gifted songwriting team of singer Wally Tax and guitarist Ronnie Splinter, The Outsiders left behind a prolific catalog of original music that easily matches up to the best the UK or the USA had to offer during the same period. The evidence is all here on Monkey On Your Back: Their 45s, a two-disc 180gm vinyl collection featuring the original mono A- and B-sides of all of their singles from the crazed punk R&B of 1965's 'You Mistreat Me' to 1969's infectious 'Do You Feel Allright' (once described by Wally Tax as 'like cowboys sitting on space rockets'). Their biggest hits are all here, including 'Lying All The Time,' 'Touch,' 'Monkey On Your Back and Summer Is Here,' alongside favorites like 'Suns Going Down,' 'I Love Her Still,' 'I Always Will,' 'That's Your Problem' and 'You Remind Me.' A handful of rarities and unreleased tracks round out the set, including 'Talk To Me,' a demo of 'Monkey On Your Back,' and stereo versions of 'Touch' and 'Bird In A Cage.' The eye-popping gatefold cover lays out all of the original picture sleeve artwork along with other rare shots. Original single versions! 2LP black 180 gram vinyl, 350 gram carton gatefold sleeve. Inside the gatefold sleeve, all single covers artwork and rare pressings! Japanese plastic bag. Remastered in the 24-bit domain from the original master tapes.'"

Artist: CARGO
Title: Cargo
Label: PSEUDONYM RECORDS (NETHERLANDS)
Format: 2LP
Price: $37.00
Catalog #: VP 99030LP
"Released in anonymity to an unsuspecting Dutch public in 1972, Cargo's lone album became a self-fulfilling prophecy when it disappeared after minimal radio play and no live dates to back it up. But Cargo had already had hits under their original name, September, and their talent would not remain buried forever. In subsequent years, the album became the stuff of record collector dreams -- as prog fans ate up its uncanny improvisational transformation of Allman Brothers influences (check out the incredible dual-guitar work of the de Hont brothers, Jan and Ad) out of the American South and into a psychedelicized continuum of space and time both terrestrial and celestial. This deluxe 2LP reissue gives you not only the original four-song LP and artwork, but four previously unreleased bonus tracks, incredible remastered sound, and extensive liner notes telling the full Cargo story by Doug Sheppard of Ugly Things magazine. Forty years after its release, Pseudonym Records has given this renowned progressive rock artifact a reissue that upholds its legacy. All tracks are recorded under the band name September. After the recordings the idea came up to release it under the project name Cargo. Remastered in the 24-bit domain from the original master tapes. All demos are previously unreleased. 2lp on black 180 gram vinyl, 350 gram carton gatefold sleeve. Japanese plastic bag.'

Artist: MOTIONS
Title: Wasted Words: The Havoc 45's
Label: PSEUDONYM RECORDS (NETHERLANDS)
Format: LP
Price: $30.00
Catalog #: VP 99031LP
"When The Motions crashed into the Dutch charts at the beginning of 1965 with 'Its Gone,' they opened the floodgates for a tidal wave of young Dutch bands. Few of them, though, could match the pure excitement etched into the grooves of The Motions' 1965-66 singles, featuring the definitive lineup of singer Rudy Bennett, songwriter/guitarist Robbie van Leeuwen, bass player Henk Smitskamp, and drummer Sieb Warner. That magnificent procession of songs is laid out for all to hear in dynamically remastered sound on Wasted Words: The Havoc 45's. The raw, frenetic thrash of 'Its Gone' and 'We Fell in Love,' vibrant, mournful laments like 'I've Got Misery,' 'For Another Man' and 'I'll Follow the Sun,' the stark socially-conscious folk-rock of 'Wasted Words,' the explosive freakbeat of 'Everything That's Mine' and the sophisticated pop balladry of 'My Love Is Growing' - all written by master songsmith (and future Shocking Blue mastermind) Robbie van Leeuwen. The latter song so impressed co-producer Scott Walker that he recorded it with the Walker Brothers. Pressed on 180 gram vinyl, Wasted Words features a top quality 350 gram carton gatefold sleeve featuring rare photos and all of the original picture sleeve artwork. Remastered in the 24-bit domain from the original master tapes."

Artist: AHORA MAZDA
Title: Ahora Mazda
Label: PSEUDONYM RECORDS (NETHERLANDS)
Format: 2LP
Price: $37.00
Catalog #: VP 99034LP
"Exclusively restored dynamic 24 bit remastering from the original master tapes. High quality 180 gram audiophile pressing housed in deluxe 350 gram carton gatefold sleeve. Ahora Mazda existed in a dark corner of deep space at the heart of the Dutch psychedelic underground. From 1968 until 1970 they were the house band at Fantasio, the epicenter of Amsterdams hippy movement. Drawing inspiration from Ornette Coleman, Soft Machine, John Coltrane, Captain Beefheart and others, Ahora Mazdas gravity-defying, self-described 'musical freedom trips' exploring regions uncharted - journeys without maps. Released in May 1970, their only album is regarded by collectors as one of the hidden gems of Dutch psychedelia, and is sometimes likened to the best Krautrock groups of the era. This deluxe 180 gram double-LP set presents the original album in its entirety, plus a second disc of unedited live-in-the-studio performances from the same sessions, all mastered from the original tapes. The gatefold sleeve features the beautiful original cover art by Rik Lina, along with rare archival photos and liner notes by Ugly Things magazine's Mike Stax."

Artist: BRAINBOX
Title: Dark Rose: Their 45s
Label: PSEUDONYM RECORDS (NETHERLANDS)
Format: 2LP
Price: $37.00
Catalog #: VP 99035LP
"Brainbox was something special. The band not only featured some of the Netherlands' most preternaturally talented musicians, but in less than three years they produced a recorded legacy that was truly world class. Much of their best work appeared on their 1969-71 singles, which have been compiled on this definitive 2-LP collection, pressed on 180gm vinyl and dynamically re-mastered from the original tapes. The original lineup with lead-guitarist Jan Akkerman, bassist Andr Reijnen, drummer Pierre van der Linden and vocalist extraordinaire Kaz Lux deliver the goods on pile-driving blues rock songs like 'Down Man' and 'Dark Rose,' and the hard-hitting Hendrix-inspired rocker 'Amsterdam, The First Days' -- all presented in their original mono mixes. After Akkermans departure, Brainbox expanded its musical palette with guitarists Rudy de Queljoe (ex-Dragonfly) and John Schuursma (ex-Rob Hoekes R&B Group), recording memorable tracks like 'Between Alpha And Omega,' 'Doomsday Train,' 'Mobilae' and the blisteringly powerful 'Virgin.' Dark Rose / Their 45s also includes previously unreleased demo-versions of 'Virgin,' 'Dark Rose' and the epic 'Sea Of Delight.' It comes packaged in a magnificent gatefold-cover with rare photos and liner-notes including exclusive interview material. Remastered in the 24-bit domain from the original master tapes."

Artist: OUTSIDERS, THE
Title: The Outsiders
Label: PSEUDONYM RECORDS (NETHERLANDS)
Format: 2LP
Price: $37.00
Catalog #: VP 99036LP
"Released at the peak of their popularity in early 1967, The Outsiders' debut-album featured one side of live recordings and one side of studio-tracks. The album finds them playing with a rawness and urgency few groups could ever match on primal but brilliantly conceived tracks like 'Story 16,' 'Afraid Of The Dark,' 'Filthy Rich' and 'Wont You Listen.' This expanded double-album reissue adds a second disc of rare material, including a previously unreleased studio-session from January 1966, a live concert taped at Paradiso in December 1968, and a remarkable instrumental demo of 'Strange Things Are Happening.' Dynamically re-mastered in the 24-bit domain from the original tapes, and pressed in 180gm vinyl, The Outsiders comes in a spectacular gatefold sleeve and includes liner-notes by Ugly Things magazines Mike Stax."

Artist: FINCH
Title: Vita Dominica
Label: PSEUDONYM RECORDS (NETHERLANDS)
Format: LP
Price: $30.00
Catalog #: VP 99038LP
"Founded in 1974 and derived from the legendary group Q65, Finch is still regarded as one of the most leading Dutch second generation bands. Complex and harmonic oriented long compositions with lots of space for guitar and synthesizers fill up three albums and one seven inch. Their debut album, Glory of the Inner Force was also released in the United States. Especially Finch live reputation is often remembered as legendary. 'Nuff said for the ones who were eyewitnesses. Others can now enjoy Vita Dominica, an album that not only re-launches their Colossus 7", but also presents three recently unearthed pieces that were recorded by Dutch radio station VPRO. 'Paradoxical Moods,' 'Pisces,' and 'Register Magister' capture Finch on stage shortly after the release of their debut, featuring the first definitive line up of Joop van Nimwegen (guitar), Peter Vink (ex-Q65) (bass), Cleem Determeijer (keyboards) and Beer Klaasse (ex-Q65/ex-GROUP 1850) (drums). The recordings were made in December 1975 in De Tagrijn in Hilversum. A demo version of 'Remembering the Future,' recorded in 1977, is included as a bonus track. This 180 gram vinyl LP is housed in a deluxe fold out cover full of rare memorabilia. The recordings have been exclusively remastered from the original mastertapes."
