Vondelpark
's second EP develops on the musical themes of their previous work, still anchored by
Lewis
' tender vocals. "TV" constructs stuttering, melodic evocations that grow from a single, repetitive loop to mingle with a sparkling guitar and snatches of vocals. "Feat B" almost encroaches on r'n'b in its structure and influence. "Camels" also takes something from r'n'b, but more conspicuously draws on the beats of the UK underground. "Hipbone" mixes the plaintive, overlapping vocals with hypnotic keys and echoing horns.

Klaus
is a classically-trained young musician from London, already picking up plaudits from
James Blake
and
Mount Kimbie
. Erudite and cultivated, this debut EP sets a tone for an early evening on a heavy system or an earlier morning on the headphones. Layered drum patterns give way to distorted atmospherics permeated with that heavy, heavy bass -- almost
Eno
-esque in its structure.

RS 1003EP
2010 debut single from the London-based producer on R&S. James Blake is so enormously-tipped by the forward-thinking "dubstep" universe that Mary Anne Hobbs used up all the wobbles in her head trying to come up with a goofy quote about him.

2010 single that opened the post-Burial, family-friendly UK bass continuum. Brilliant sleeve art by Will Bankhead.
