This is the second full-length record by Copenhagen-based Martinez. It's been almost 2 years since the release of his debut album Internal Space on Out of Orbit. During those two years, Martinez's sound has developed and progressed into the more mind-bending and tweaked out fields of minimal techno music -- more stripped-down and focused on fewer elements rather than a lot of melodies and hook lines. With this new aesthetic in mind, he started the Re:connected sub-label of Out of Orbit, focused on quality minimal techno from the darker and freakier side of life. The first two releases got massive feedback from major players on today's dance music scene, such as Ricardo Villalobos, Miss Kittin, John Digweed, Dominik Eulberg, Richie Hawtin and Sven Väth. With such a success, Martinez decided to go into the studio and focus fully on this project. After a few more months of experimentation, A Chemical Imbalance was finally produced. Martinez chose to present the CD version of this album as a continuous mix, for the sake of flow and feeling. A Chemical Imbalance is mainly driven by the trademark sound of Re:connected. You'll find it in tracks such as "Tuna Belly" and "La Macchina," with their rolling hypnotic rhythm and bleepy metallic sounds. The album also includes the two mini-hits from the first 12" singles, "Sinus Wave" and "Land-Crab," which have a more shuffle-driven beat and strong, off-key pads. But for a change, Martinez also adds some elements from his early influences of deep house with the track "Lowdown," which is clearly a tribute to the classic Chicago imprint, Guidance Recordings. Its lush and laid-back pads lay out a deep but uplifting atmosphere to the otherwise dark and tweaked-out soundscape of the album. There are also some trippy experimental dub grooves on this record on tracks like "The Turtle-March," with that weird voice coming in and its tripped-out percussion groove flowing on top of a heavy sub-bass. A Chemical Imbalance offers lots of different moodswings between genres like ambient, minimal, techno, deep house and tripped-out dub elements, within a nicely-anchored continuous mix. This is the perfect album that works as a soundtrack to your everyday life.

"After massive success with the first re:connected 12" (supported by Ricardo Villalobos & Loco Dice to name a few), we now return to you with another slamming two tracker. Two brand new techno cuts from Martinez, that he produced during this spring in his triple-o lab in Copenhagen. These tunes follow perfectly the style and sound that was laid out on re:connected 001. On the A- side we start off with a more subtle, but growing track called 'Land-Crab.' The track kicks off with a strong driving sub woofer baseline, an irresistible 808 tom groove, some heave snare and claps action and a metallic and dripping bleep bloop sound, drives the track steady forward. Later some playful effects enters and make the track peak but without destroying it's floating minimal structure. 'Land-Crab' keeps bubbling until the end just as subtle as the movement of a crab working his way on land. B side offers a prime-time techno monster, that is called: 'Angvalt' (near to the Swedish word for a steamer, but made the word a bit more international). Ist driven by its wobbly and rattling bass grooves, some submarine like sounds and heave hi-hat action for pure dancefloor pleasure."

"Back again with the third installment of Martinez' Re:connected series, providing you with two new high quality techno tunes. On the A-side, we present you the tune 'Tuna Belly,' which is taken from the full length Martinez album. The track starts off with a pounding deep kick-drum and a heavy Roland SH-101 bass line. After some heavy snares, claps and some under waterish bubble sounds enter onto the groove, the track is steadily rolling towards its peak breakdown. The bass line is filtered and tweaked through layers of efx into just a high-pitched noise that is just on the edge of getting too much, and right at that time it sweeps back into the full groove with a slamming hi-hat to lift the track even more. 'Tuna Belly' is one of those tracks that definitely will make you go crazy on the dancefloor in the late hours. For the B-side, we offer you the first part of some great 'Tool' tracks that were originally only produced by Martinez for his DJ sets, but since they have caused such a massive response on the dancefloor the last couple of months, we felt we wanted to put them on a few of the upcoming Re:connected releases as a nice bonus for all you DJs out there."

Martinez is back with the 4th installment in his Re:Connected series, delivering two more slamming techno tracks. The 12" starts off with "Expander," which is a powerful techno monster driven by a strong, rolling bass line hook that just expands into one heavenly climax. "Rotation" is a dark, hypnotic, minimal affair with a deep and pounding 808 kick drum, a heavy sub-bass and some well laid-down melodies, perfect for the warm-up of the late night club and the wee afterhours.

Played by Mathias Kaden, Len Faki, Someone Else, Martinez, Loco Dice and others, this is a fresh 12" from Copenhagen producer Andreas Jørnvil. "Abekatten" is a wild deep house groove with a jungle-like feeling. Deep conga driven beats, monkey screams, heavy drum layers and epic tribal chants, journey through a hypnotizing groove. "Porta" has a darker feeling and a slow, wobbly sub-bass on top of a tight snare drum rhythm. Metallic noise and pitched-down vocals make this quite spooky.
