"An extraordinary series of limited editions was begun in Kleve in 2001. The initiator, curator and mediator of this artistic 'work in progress' was the then 23 year-old art and music lover Robert Meijer, a man distinguished by a healthy mixture of knowledge, obsessiveness, reflectiveness and sensitivity. The title of the series -- 'En/Of' -- is rich in associations (Dutch for 'and/or' and phonetically similar to 'on/of') and so far -- April 2005 -- comprises 30 editions. Contained in the two sleeves of a double LP album are one artistic and one musical edition. Thus, unlike many other editors of such editions, Meijer strictly dictates the format: the artists must confine themselves to the quadrature of the circular record: 12 x 12 inches, while the musicians must make a recording on an LP. The fact that the fixed format is in no way a limitation but rather poses -- and not least through the combination of music and art -- an interesting challenge is evidenced by the incredible list of artists and musicians who have already taken part in the project. The exhibition confronts us with an imaginary museum of the present day in 12 inch vinyl format and a collection of great tracks of electronic music. Robert Meijers's En/Of affords us a complex overview of the contemporary art and music scenes." (Guido de Werd).
