Artist: GEENEUS
Title: Rinse: 01
Label: RINSE FM (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $16.00
Catalog #: RINSE 001CD
"Rinse is the new definitive compilation series for pirate music enthusiasts brought to you by the infamous station that has championed a myriad of incendiary underground artists -- Rinse FM. Each installment will reflect the sounds championed by Rinse FM with each DJ showing us their own perspective of UK pirate music by way of track selection and tempo of mix. Fittingly it's Geeneus, head boy at Rinse FM, who kicks the series off. A DJ and broadcaster by the age of 15, Geeneus is one of the main people behind Rinse FM's success. His consistent success rate has made a show on Rinse an ambition for many and often a stepping-stone to a record deal or mainstream broadcasting, as Dizzee Rascal, Roll Deep and Wiley will testify. On Rinse 01 you will find tracks from wunderkind Skream, Godfather of grime Wiley, DMZ dancefloor destroyer Coki and Radio 1's Plastician, putting paid to the great dubstep vs. grime debate and showing that the two can follow each other plate after plate and sound fantastic. More importantly Geeneus' inclusion of NG and Jelly Jams productions from the scene being coined 'UK house' is a true reflection of the records spun across the gamut of shows on Rinse. Ultimately this series showcases the breadth of talent which Rinse FM is giving voice to. Running for 12 years now, Rinse provides a 24 hr service for lovers of dubstep, grime and UK house. The likes of the BBC and KISS FM will always look to Rinse to show them the way forward in underground music." Features artists such as Headhunter, Plastician, Skepta, Rebound X, Benga & Coki, D.O.K., Magnetic Man, Skream, Ghetto, Jakes, Scratchy, Rusko, Wiley, DVA, D1, N-Type, Wonder, Apple, Finga Print & OB, Jelly Jams, NG and Katie.

Artist: BEEZY
Title: Thoughts In Retrospect
Label: RINSE FM (UK)
Format: 2x12"
Price: $21.00
Catalog #: RINSE 002.2EP
"Thoughts In Retrospect is the first single from Rinse's debut artist signing Beezy. A fantastic lyricist, possessing an ability to paint vivid images with the potency of Eminem and effortlessness of Tricky, his combination of bold and vulnerable has endeared him to the aforementioned producers and fans across the globe. Although this is his first introduction proper to a mainstream audience, Beezy has already cut his teeth with the cream of British producers including Skream, Benga, Plastician and Coki DMZ, self-releasing two albums and numerous mix tapes giving them away as free downloads. 'Thoughts In Retrospect', produced by Benga, is a light-hearted dally back to Reece Smith's cheeky nipper days: chasing girls, getting up to mischief and generally having fun with mates. 'Snapshots Of A Glass Portal' is an altogether more sombre offering, the tone is set by minor keys and sparse drums from Distance over which Beezy delivers a morbidly fascinating 4 minute monologue so rich in its description the listener is compelled to see the stark point of view directly through his eyes."

Title: Dubstep Drama (Sountrack to Dubplate Drama Series 2)
Label: RINSE FM (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $16.00
Catalog #: RINSE 002CD
"Rinse FM is proud to present Dubstep Drama, the official soundtrack to the current Channel 4 series, Dubplate Drama II. It's the opening episode of Dubplate Drama's second series and aspiring MC Dionne (played by real-life MC Shystie) is about to spark a chain of events that will tip her world upside-down. Cousin Warren's back in town and he's already causing big trouble -- specifically, he's having a party in their Grandma's flat. But what's that simmering away as the soundtrack to our entry back into Dubplate World? It's 20-year-old South Londoner Benga's raw, hypnotic dubstep anthem, 'Live Drums.' Race through the twelve rollercoaster episodes and you'll hear the sound of Croydon's baddest bassheads percolating under the increasingly heavy drama, adding next level suspense and a whole new sonic dimension. The Rinse FM of the show is obviously inspired by the Rinse FM of real life. Rinse advised on 'pirate authenticity' for the show. Not only did they answer important questions on, say, what exactly a pirate radio aerial should look like but also set up the fictional station studio, just to make sure everything was just right. Dubstep, a once-niche concern in places like Croydon, Chapeltown and Easton has turned into a force, gathering pace in Osaka, Melbourne and Helsinki. Listen hard enough and you'll hear the sparse remnants of '80s soul, heavy rave, molecule-shifting dub, Valium jungle and energetic, shadowy garage, all spun up into something positive and powerful. Forwards!" Tracklisting 01. Skream - Loosing Control 02. Benga - Evolution 03. Geeneus - Star Buck 04. Zinc - Flim [Skream Remix] 05. Benga - Live Drums 06. Shotz - Arabian Nightmare 07. Benga - Fittest 08. Headhunter - Decent 09. Skream - Request Line 10. Footsie - Psychotic 11. Benga - Middle Man 12. Wonder - What [Geeneus Remix] 13. Skream - Deep Concentration

Artist: SKREAM
Title: Rinse: 02
Label: RINSE FM (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $16.00
Catalog #: RINSE 003CD
"Each installment of the Rinse series reflects the sounds championed by Rinse FM with each DJ showing us their perspective of British pirate music by way of track selection and tempo of mix. Next up is dubstep's deserved forefather, the mighty Skream. Skream's self-titled debut album was released to critical acclaim, featuring much revered bone shakers such as 'Tapped' and 'Midnight Request Line.' Skream's ear for a tune and the diverse manner in which he selects and produces shines through on this fresh mix. Still in step with his ska-tinged, head-bobbing productions, Skream offers exclusive new tracks from his vault, such as Murderer, Oit, Kum Ere Sun and Refuel, all delivering blistering bass lines while keeping the dutty, low-frequency skank purring in the background. They're lined up next to apocalyptic tracks like Rusko and Caspa's bowel shifting 'Bread Get Bun,' dubstep figurehead Benga's '26 Basslines,' the shape-shifting Kode 9's 'Badawi' remix and Skream's own stunning reinterpretation of 'The Black Ghosts Find Some Way.' It's clear that Skream utilizes his dexterity and eclecticism to maximum impact."

Artist: SUPA D
Title: Rinse: 03
Label: RINSE FM (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $19.00
Catalog #: RINSE 004CD
"Rinse: 03 -- Supa D documents the beginnings of house + funky -- the London-based sister scene to bassline house, an offshoot of UK garage. Supa D is the single most important DJ credited with starting the genre. The album contains every UK-produced anthem to date, including DJ NG's 'Tell Me' single just signed to Ministry of Sound, Geeneus' remix of Benga & Coki's anthem 'Night' and 'Emotions' by Geeneus + Zinc feat. Nikki. If this is the first time you've heard the genre house & funky, then think of Benga & Coki's 'Night' or T2's 'Heartboken' and you'll be heading in the right direction. Although not strictly from the funky scene, these songs and the like have been whole-heartedly adopted by the genre's ravers after hearing the tracks out in Ayia Napa being played on heavy rotation by crews like Boy Better Know. 'It's a new era,' insists Supa, and he's right. Five years ago, grime rose out of UK garage's ashes. Now, London is turning full circle as a new, warm, danceable sound emerges from somewhere between house and broken beat, attracting fans from grime, R&B and bashment. Why it's happening now, is hard to quantify: perhaps urban London is looking for something of its own that is more danceable, yet less masculine and aggressive than grime. Perhaps they wanted something dressier, to escape the grind of the week. Certainly there are precious few grime raves allowed to happen. Either way, the movement is so new, in fact, that it doesn't yet have a name -- always a sign that something exciting is afoot. The only place you'll find tunes from these producers is on this CD, the first to chronicle the new London funky scene."

Artist: SKEPTA
Title: Rinse: 04
Label: RINSE FM (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $19.00
Catalog #: RINSE 005CD
"'Bumberclaart Badman!' rings the intro to Rinse:04 and few would argue with Rinse's next artist up to bat, Joseph 'Skepta' Adenuga. Skepta is co-director of Boy Better Know alongside Big Dada artist Wiley, and brother JME. Skepta is the hottest name in the British underground scene. Skepta's name alone on a flyer guarantees roadblock queues and a quick glance at his MySpace hits puts Lily Allen et al to shame. Skepta's 'Rolex Sweep' (both a tune and a dance move) is the follow up single to fellow Boy who Knows Better Wiley's hit 'Wearing My Rolex' (currently on Radio1 B Playlist / set to be a Top 5 single). Skepta's mix is an audio documentary of what the demographic oft referred to as the 'urban youth' are listening to now. Here you'll find dubstep, grime and house tunes mixed in the type of set you can expect to hear if you tune into the weekly Boy Better Know show on Rinse. As the sound of the inner-city has developed, Rinse FM has been at the forefront time and time again with the rise of each scene. Pockets of the media attempt to pigeon-hole the station; a jungle, grime or dubstep station etc. The truth is Rinse is THE pirate station: it will always represent the sound of the British Underground because the DJs and emcees on the station are the key players at its very heart."

Artist: PALEFACE
Title: Rinse: 05
Label: RINSE FM (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $19.00
Catalog #: RINSE 006CD
"London's underground can lay claim to originating many forms of British dance music, but Bassline House is not one of them. For several years now the North of England (namely Sheffield's sink estates) has been nurturing the bastard child of garage since said genre was gang raped by the major labels. Now with acts like T2 and H20 claiming #1 chart positions, London is waking up to the new sound of Clubland. Mixed by Rinse FM resident, and Bassline favorite, Paleface, Rinse:05 is an A&R's wet dream. Despite its healthy existence in Leeds, Sheffield and Coventry, you'd be hard pressed to find anyone within the M25 who'd heard of Bassline this time last year. But when Paleface and Co took the sound to Ayia Napa in '07 the penny dropped for a whole heap of ravers. The energy and aesthetic of garage circa '99; the shuddering bass of grime and a 4/4 structure all underlined with an acute sense of fun. It was the excitement from these ravers on their return to Blighty which gave T2 and H20 the momentum to blindside established, mainstream artists and reach #1 in the national charts. Long-time garage artists including $tush, Dexplicit, Sticky and Gemma Fox are embracing the sound and ushering in the renaissance of ghetto raves which are packed full of girls and guys in equal measures. Track 17 in the mix - 'Hypnotik' - is the current dancefloor destroyer and is produced by Mr V formerly of grime notoriety."

Artist: PLASTICIAN
Title: Rinse:06
Label: RINSE FM (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $19.00
Catalog #: RINSE 008CD
"Plastician has been a prominent DJ on Rinse FM since 2003. He hosted BBC Radio 1's first dedicated Dubstep and Grime radio show before returning to Rinse FM in 2007. This mix features mainly exclusive and unreleased tracks. First introduced to a wide audience when, alongside Kode9 and Digital Mystikz, Rephlex Records signed Plastician productions for their acclaimed compilations Grime1 and Grime2. Produced and remixed for artists and labels including MIA, Alter Ego, Kosheen, Skepta, JME, Black Ghosts, Sony, XL and Skint. Recently released his debut album on his own imprint Terrorhythm Reocordings. The face of leading British streetwear label King Apparel and features in their adverts in magazines including FHM, iD, Dazed & Confused, Vice and RWD. Plastician's breakthrough as a DJ came after former Rinse resident and Grime pioneer Slimzee, signed `Venom' to Slimzos Recordings. This brought Plastician, then Plastic Man, up on the Rinse FM radar where Geeneus gave him a few guest slots and this lead to a permanent slot hosting an instrumental grime show. He's since gone on to play on every continent aside from Antarctica and can lay claim to being the first DJ booked to play dubstep in Africa. As for the mix itself... 'I wanted it to be personal - I think this mix represents what I'm all about... it evolves throughout with different paces and peaking points... I balanced it out with some grime instrumentals, dubstep bangers, some blessed-out synthy numbers, some more chilled out stuff and even chucked in a live a capella mix for good measure!'"
