Artist: GEENEUS
Title: Rinse: 01
Label: RINSE (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $10.00
Catalog #: RINSE 001CD
Rinse is the definitive compilation series for pirate music enthusiasts brought to you by the infamous station that has championed a myriad of incendiary underground artists -- Rinse FM. Each installment will reflect the sounds championed by Rinse FM with each DJ showing us their own perspective of UK pirate music by way of track selection and tempo of mix. Fittingly, it's Geeneus, head boy at Rinse FM, who kicks the series off. A DJ and broadcaster by the age of 15, Geeneus is one of the main people behind Rinse FM's success. His consistent success rate has made a show on Rinse an ambition for many and often a stepping-stone to a record deal or mainstream broadcasting, as Dizzee Rascal, Roll Deep and Wiley will testify. On Rinse: 01, you will find tracks from wunderkind Skream, Godfather of grime Wiley, DMZ dancefloor-destroyer Coki, and Radio 1's Plastician, putting an end to the great dubstep vs. grime debate and showing that the two can follow each other plate after plate and sound fantastic. More importantly Geeneus' inclusion of NG and Jelly Jams, productions from the "UK house" scene, is a true reflection of the records spun across the gamut of shows on Rinse FM. Ultimately, this series showcases the breadth of talent which Rinse FM is giving voice to. Running for 12 years now, Rinse FM provides a 24-hour service for lovers of dubstep, grime and UK house. The likes of the BBC and KISS FM will always look to Rinse FM to show them the way forward in underground music. Other artists include: Headhunter, Skepta, Rebound X, Benga & Coki, D.O.K., Magnetic Man, Ghetto, Jakes, Scratchy, Rusko, DVA, D1, N-Type, Wonder, Apple, Finga Print & OB and Katy B.

Artist: BEEZY
Title: Thoughts In Retrospect
Label: RINSE (UK)
Format: 2x12"
Price: $18.00
Catalog #: RINSE 002.2EP
Thoughts In Retrospect is the first single from Rinse's debut artist signing, Beezy. A fantastic lyricist whose ability to paint vivid images with a bold and vulnerable potency has endeared him to producers and fans across the globe. Although this is his first proper introduction to a mainstream audience, Beezy has already cut his teeth with the cream of British producers, including Skream, Benga, Plastician and Coki, self-releasing two albums and numerous mix tapes and giving them away as free downloads. "Thoughts In Retrospect," produced by Benga, is a light-hearted dally back to Reece Smith's cheeky nipper days: chasing girls, getting up to mischief and generally having fun with mates. "Snapshots Of A Glass Portal" is an altogether more somber offering, the tone set by minor keys and sparse drums from Distance, over which Beezy delivers a morbidly fascinating 4-minute monologue so rich in its description, the listener is compelled to see the stark point of view directly through his eyes.

Title: Dubstep Drama: The Official Soundtrack To Dubplate Drama
Label: RINSE (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $10.00
Catalog #: RINSE 002CD
...Series 2. Rinse is proud to present Dubstep Drama, the official soundtrack to the Channel 4 television series, Dubplate Drama II. It's the opening episode of Dubplate Drama's second series and aspiring MC Dionne (played by real-life MC Shystie) is about to spark a chain of events that will tip her world upside-down. Cousin Warren's back in town and he's already causing big trouble -- specifically, he's having a party in their Grandma's flat. But what's that simmering away as the soundtrack to our entry back into Dubplate World? It's 20-year-old South Londoner Benga's raw, hypnotic dubstep anthem, "Live Drums." Race through the 12 rollercoaster episodes, and you'll hear the sound of Croydon's baddest bassheads percolating under the increasingly heavy drama, adding next-level suspense and a whole new sonic dimension. The Rinse FM of the show is obviously inspired by the Rinse FM of real life. Rinse advised on "pirate authenticity" for the show. Not only did they answer important questions on, say, what exactly a pirate radio aerial should look like, but also set up the fictional station studio, just to make sure everything was just right. Dubstep, a once-niche concern in places like Croydon, Chapeltown and Easton, has turned into a force, gathering pace in Osaka, Melbourne and Helsinki. Listen hard enough, and you'll hear the sparse remnants of '80s soul, heavy rave, molecule-shifting dub, Valium jungle and energetic, shadowy garage, all spun up into something positive and powerful. Forwards! Other artists include: Skream, Benga, Geeneus, Zinc, Headhunter, Shotz , Footsie and Wonder.

Artist: SKREAM
Title: Rinse: 02
Label: RINSE (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: RINSE 003CD
This is the second installment in the Rinse series, reflecting the sounds championed by Rinse FM with each DJ showing us their perspective of British pirate music. Next up is dubstep's deserved forefather, the mighty Skream. Skream's self-titled debut album was released to critical acclaim, featuring much revered bone shakers such as "Tapped" and "Midnight Request Line." Skream's ear for a tune and the diverse manner in which he selects and produces shines through on this fresh mix. Still in step with his ska-tinged, head-bobbing productions, Skream offers exclusive new tracks from his vault, such as "Murderer," "Oit, Kum Ere Sun" and "Refuel," all delivering blistering bass lines while keeping the dutty, low-frequency skank purring in the background. They're lined up next to apocalyptic tracks like Rusko and Caspa's bowel shifting "Bread Get Bun," dubstep figurehead Benga's "26 Basslines," the shape-shifting Kode 9's Badawi remix and Skream's own stunning reinterpretation of "The Black Ghosts Find Some Way." It's clear that Skream utilizes his dexterity and eclecticism to maximum impact.

Artist: SUPA D
Title: Rinse: 03
Label: RINSE (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: RINSE 004CD
Supa D documents the beginnings of house and funky -- the London-based sister scene to bassline house, an offshoot of UK garage -- on the third edition in Rinse's compilation series. Supa D is the single most important DJ credited with starting the genre. The album contains every UK-produced anthem to date, including DJ NG's "Tell Me" single, Geeneus' remix of Benga & Coki's anthem "Night" and "Emotions" by Jelly Jams (aka Geeneus & Zinc) featuring Nikki. If this is the first time you've heard genres house and funky, then think of Benga & Coki's "Night" or T2's "Heartbroken," and you'll be heading in the right direction. Although not strictly from the funky scene, these songs have been whole-heartedly adopted by the genre's ravers after hearing the tracks played in heavy rotation. "It's a new era," insists Supa, and he's right. Whereas grime originally rose out of UK garage's ashes, London is turning full circle as a new, warm, danceable sound emerges from somewhere between house and broken beat, attracting fans from grime, R&B and bashment. Why it's happening is hard to quantify: perhaps urban London is looking for something of its own that is more danceable, yet less masculine and aggressive than grime. Perhaps they wanted something dressier, to escape the grind of the week. Certainly, there are precious few grime raves allowed to happen. Either way, the movement is so new, in fact, that it doesn't yet have a name -- always a sign that something exciting is afoot. The only place you'll find tunes from these producers is on this CD, the first to chronicle the new London funky scene. Other artists include: Perempay & Dee, Naughty, Addictive, Delio D'Cruze, Kcat, Jay's Kitchen, Daniel Sea, Tadow, Fingerprint, Courtney, Nikki, Matic Productions, Donaeo, Footloose, Simone, Fuzzy Logic, Apple, Katy B, MA1 and Funky Junkies.

Artist: ROSKA
Title: Rinse Presents Roska Number Two
Label: RINSE (UK)
Format: 12"
Price: $11.00
Catalog #: RINSE 004EP
Roska Number Two takes three of the most direct-to-dancefloor cuts from his self titled LP (RINSE 016CD) and packs them into one jack-all-night-long package. The skeletal curveball "Squark" has been hugely requested and received support from Radio1 and Kiss FM. "Tomorrow Is Today" brings light to the grime template, fusing his past as a grime MC with his current path and is a favorite amongst Rinse FM tastemakers. "Hey Cutie," with its bouncy, summery vibes, rounds off the single.

Artist: SKEPTA
Title: Rinse: 04
Label: RINSE (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: RINSE 005CD
This is the fourth installment in the Rinse label's compilation series. "Bumberclaart Badman!" rings the intro to Rinse: 04 and few would argue with Rinse's next artist up to bat, Joseph "Skepta" Adenuga. Skepta is co-director of Rinse FM's weekly "Boy Better Know" show alongside Big Dada artist Wiley and brother JME. Skepta is the hottest name in the British underground scene. Skepta's name alone on a flyer guarantees roadblock queues. Skepta's "Rolex Sweep" (both a tune and a dance move) is the follow-up single to fellow boy-who-knows-better Wiley's hit "Wearing My Rolex." Skepta's mix is an audio documentary of what the demographic often referred to as the "urban youth" are listening to now. Here you'll find dubstep, grime and house tunes mixed in the type of set you can expect to hear if you tune into "Boy Better Know." As the sound of the inner-city has developed, Rinse FM has been at the forefront time and time again with the rise of each scene. Pockets of the media attempt to pigeon-hole the station as jungle, grime or dubstep, etc. The truth is, Rinse is the pirate station: it will always represent the sound of the British underground because the DJs and emcees on the station are the key players at its very heart. Other artists include: Newham Generals, Jammer, Soul Fusion, Frisko, Chipmunk, Double S, Silencer, Benga & Coki, and Rebound X.

Artist: PALEFACE
Title: Rinse: 05
Label: RINSE (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $10.00
Catalog #: RINSE 006CD
Mixed by Rinse FM resident and bassline favorite, Paleface, this is the fifth installment in the Rinse label's compilation series. Rinse:05 is an A&R's wet dream. London's underground can lay claim to originating many forms of British dance music, but bassline house is not one of them. For several years now the north of England (namely Sheffield's sink estates) has been nurturing the bastard child of garage since said genre was gang raped by the major labels. London is waking up to the new sound of clubland. Despite its healthy existence in Leeds, Sheffield and Coventry, you'd have been hard pressed to find anyone who'd heard of bassline. But when Paleface and company took the sound to Ayia Napa in '07, the penny dropped for a whole heap of ravers. Bassline embodies the energy and aesthetic of garage circa '99, with the shuddering bass of grime and a 4/4 dance-oriented structure all underlined with an acute sense of fun. It was the excitement from these ravers on their return to Britain which gave the sound the momentum to blindside established, mainstream artists and reach #1 in the national charts. Long-time garage artists including $tush, Dexplicit, Sticky and Gemma Fox are embracing the sound and ushering in the renaissance of ghetto raves, which are packed full of girls and guys in equal measures. Track 17 in the mix ? "Hypnotik" -- is the dancefloor destroyer and is produced by Mr V, formerly of grime notoriety. Other artists include Ill Mana, Wittyboy, Mr Figz, Dub Melitia, Rekless, Jalla, Burgaboy, BM, Screama, Wittyboy, Piper, Kyla, Dexplicit, T.R.C., P-Money, Mr Hatter, Sticky, Young London, Fingaz, Jalla, DS1, Caliber, Ben Joel, Keynos, GS, Krissi B, DJ Stylez, Mr Blackfinger, Krissi B, Marvin Brown, Kat Blu, Brasstooth and more.

The first bonafide pop star to emerge from the dubstep and UK Funky undergrounds championed by the newly-legal Rinse FM, Katy B encapsulates the sound, spirit and energy of British youth culture right now. Title: I Love Dubstep
Label: RINSE (UK)
Format: 2CD
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: RINSE 007CD
The UK's Rinse FM presents the first and only compilation to feature every dubstep anthem from the genre's inception to the present day, adding both mainstream and specialist appeal. This 2CD set includes certified classics including Burial's "Archangel," Benga & Coki's massive "Night" and Mala's "Anti War Dub" in one release. I Love Dubstep is a must-have for seasoned dubsteppers and the uninitiated alike. 70% of the featured tracks have previously been unavailable on CD format. Compiled and mixed by Youngsta and Geeneus, Rinse is the sister-label to recognized pioneer of dubstep, Rinse FM. These are 45 seminal tracks that will provide a comprehensive introduction to a sound that is steadily spreading roots across the globe. As a major pioneer of dubstep via its sister radio station Rinse FM, Rinse have been given unprecedented permission to use tracks never before featured on CD and some (like Digital Mystikz's "Haunted") which will never see the light of day again on CD or wax. Dubstep is fast approaching a musical tipping point: Missy Elliot has drafted in British producer Rusko for her forthcoming album; Burial's Untrue was nominated for the 2008 Mercury Music Prize; Benga & Coki's Night received worldwide critical acclaim, and a genre which was first brought to Radio 1 by John Peel now gets pride of place in the record bags of DJs such as Sinden, Switch, Mary Anne Hobbs, Laurent Garnier, Zane Lowe, Gilles Peterson and Daddy G. Glastonbury, Sonar, Miami's Winter Conference, Roskilde, Big Chill, Creamfields, Lowlands and Glade Festival have all featured dubstep prominently this year, exposing the genre to a whole new audience. For these new wide-eyed music lovers, I Love Dubstep is the digestible solution for their new-found curiosity and hunger. 45 back-to-back anthems across two CDs for the price of one -- now that's what I call music! Other artists include Horsepower Productions, Skream, Caspa, Loefah, D1, Benga, Massive Music, Kode 9, Distance, Magnetic Man, Headhunter, Kromestar, Coki, Hijak, Pinch, Conquest, SP:MC, Shackleton, TRG, Martyn, The Bug, 2562 and Abstract.

Artist: PLASTICIAN
Title: Rinse: 06
Label: RINSE (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: RINSE 008CD
This is the sixth installment in the Rinse label's compilation series featuring exclusive and unreleased tracks mixed by Plastician. Plastician has been a prominent DJ on Rinse FM since 2003. He hosted BBC Radio 1's first radio show dedicated to dubstep and grime before returning to Rinse FM in 2007. Chris Reed (aka Plastician) was first introduced to a wide audience when, alongside Kode9 and Digital Mystikz, Rephlex Records signed Plastician productions for their acclaimed compilations Grime 1 and Grime 2. He has produced and remixed artists such as MIA, Alter Ego, Kosheen, Skepta, JME, and Black Ghosts. Plastician's breakthrough as a DJ came when he released his cut "Venom" under the name Plastic Man on former Rinse resident and grime pioneer Slimzee's label, Slimzos Recordings. This brought Plastician up on the Rinse FM radar, where Geeneus gave him a few guest slots which led to a permanent slot hosting an instrumental grime show. He's since gone on to play on every continent except Antarctica and can lay claim to being the first DJ booked to play dubstep in Africa. As for the mix itself, he says: "I wanted it to be personal -- I think this mix represents what I'm all about. It evolves throughout with different paces and peaking points... I balanced it out with some grime instrumentals, dubstep bangers, some blissed-out synthy numbers, some more chilled out stuff and even chucked in a live a capella mix for good measure!" Artists include Darkstar, Skream, Jakes, Joker, Crissy Criss, Maniac, Benny Page, Zero G, Unkle Sam, Maniac, DJ Narrows, Ed Solo, K Rio, Babylon System, and Sukh Knight.

Title: Volumes: One
Label: RINSE (UK)

Price: $10.00
Catalog #: RINSE 009CD
Hot on the heels of I Love Dubstep, Rinse presents the first collection of Funky available anywhere for retail. Step into the future with Volumes, the brand new series from Geeneus. This first edition double pack introduces Funky, the UK's freshest underground dance movement, to the masses. Disc 1 features 9 exclusive Geeneus productions, disc 2 is a bonus house + Funky club mix, featuring all the current club hits and new productions exclusive to this release. The unusual format of this release specifically reflects the demands of the Funky scene's core audience; in the sense that the DJs play predominantly CDs and there are an abundance of free DJ mix CDs given away at the club nights. Also released on double pack vinyl to accommodate vinyl fans and features Geeneus' remix of Benga & Coki's hit single "Night," on vinyl for the first time. Also features club smash singles "As I," "Emotions" and "Yellowtail," the first time these in-demand tracks have appeared as full mixes. Introducing music reminiscent of Afro house to a new generation who have little idea who Masters At Work or Fela Kuti are, Geeneus himself confesses that other than Dennis Ferrer, he looks no further than his peers for inspiration. Yet with the production value he has developed over the years, you'd be forgiven for thinking he's studied the super producers of old. As a long time contributor to Rinse FM since the age of 15, Geeneus has consistently been at the forefront of the British underground dance scene: rinsing jungle with childhood spars Wiley and Slimzee, forming one of the most respected and successful garage crews, Pay As You Go Cartel and nurturing British pirate culture music as it twisted and turned through jungle, garage, grime, bass line and dubstep with the now world-revered Rinse FM. Artist: SPYRO
Title: Rinse: 07
Label: RINSE (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $10.00
Catalog #: RINSE 010CD
This is the seventh edition in the Rinse label's compilation series. The Rinse series goes from strength to strength with the first and only Spyro mix CD available commercially or otherwise. Spyro is a tour DJ for Tinchy Stryder and was quoted by MOBO (Music Of Black Origin) award-winner Chipmunk as being one of grime's most influential DJs. He has supported Nas, Kano and Jack Penate on tour and was featured on a T-Mobile Transmission as Tinchy Styder's DJ. The CD features contemporary urban anthems alongside classic tracks including Dizzee Rascal's "I Luv U" and Sticky's "Tales From The Hood." Dubbed "Sir Spyro" by artists including Chipmunk, Wiley and Kano in reference to the huge kudos artists gain from Spyro playing their tracks, his DJ show has become essential listening. As a result, Spyro's collection of VIP mixes can only be challenged by the legendary Slimzee. So it's a VIP that kicks off proceedings -- an apt sample of Montell Jordan and away we go. Rinse: 07 immortalizes a Spyro club set for the listener to keep going back to, until their heart's content. Leaving the pigeon-holing to the chin-strokers, Spyro races through grime, garage classics and bass line, mixing with the vigor of a yokel from the Southern states. His ability to keep the dancefloor at boiling point has earned him many well-deserved accolades. Other artists include: J Mixer, Badness, Lil Silva, Sway, $tush, Skepta, Ruff Sqwad, Reservoir Dogs, Joker, JME, D.E.A., D.V.A, Alahna, Maniac, Deekline, DOK, Lauren Mason, DND, R1 Ryders, Karnak, Terror Danjah, Bruza & D.E.Velopment, Some Treat, Ironik, Most Wanted, Tubby T, D1, Menta, Teebone, Sparks, Kie, P. Jam, and Scratchy.

Artist: NUT, ALEXANDER
Title: Rinse: 08
Label: RINSE (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $10.00
Catalog #: RINSE 011CD
This is the eighth edition of the Rinse label's compilation series. Tune into the UK's beloved Rinse FM on a Saturday afternoon and you'll be laced with the sounds of Alexander Nut. A relative fresh face to the Rinse family, Nut's on point and ever upfront DJ selection of hip-hop and soul records is testament to his ardent love for a culture which was born many generations before him. Representing the Black Country (Wolverhampton), Alex Nut crams Rinse: 08 with the greatest hits from the past year of his Rinse show, featuring tracks from artists including Hudson Mohawke, 2Tall aka Om Unit, Flying Lotus, Ahu, Roots Manuva, Benga & Coki, Pinch, Mr Beatnick, and more. Rinse: 08 is a soulful and globally-inclusive mix which sheds light on the new generation of hip-hop kids, and there are already all types of names being thrown out to describe the music you'll find on this CD: early critics have cited it as "wonky," owing to the heavily, sometimes 90% swung beats that producers typically employ. However, Nut is quick to shrug off the new compartmentalization and believes it's all hip-hop, all soul, all the time. Other artists include: O.Boogie, Tableek, Tom Trago, Waajeed, Marco Polo, Black Pocket, Morgan Zarate, Simbad, Steelo, Bullion, 1000 Names, Frank-N-Dank, Morgan Spacek, Digital Soundboy, Eric Lau, Guilty Simpson, Kashmere, Joker, Zombie, Rustie, Floating Points, Pattie Blingh, and 2562.

Title: Rinse: 09
Label: RINSE (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $10.00
Catalog #: RINSE 012CD
This is the ninth edition of the Rinse label's compilation series, mixed by UK dubstep heavyweight and Rinse FM DJ, N-Type. His last compilation, Dubstep Allstars Vol. 05 (TEMPA 009CD), is to date the biggest-selling compilation in the series and received rave reviews everywhere, from visitors to DubstepForum.com ("Best CD Award") to Observer Music Monthly ("Compilation Of The Month"). Rinse: 09 is set to impress with a host of exclusives and previously-unreleased material from artists including Benga and Silkie, combined with N-Type's ability to keep proceedings rolling with peaks and troughs of energy, making this absolutely essential listening. As N-Type himself explains,"Like my Dubstep Allstars mix, this is a snapshot of what I'm doing at this moment in time. At the moment, doing back-to-backs with people like Youngsta and Hatcha is influencing me. The beginning of the mix particularly is a reflection of when me and Yunx play out -- meditative vibes you could smoke to. Towards the end, I get more banging... almost drawing on jungle influences." Other artists include: Kryptic Minds, Kutz, Headhunter, Kromestar & Jay 5ive, LD, DJ Punisher, The Others, Mungo's Hi-Fi, Earl 16, Distance, Kalbata, Seven & Youngsta, Emalkay, Skream, Jakes, John & Jehn, Joker, Flux Pavillion, Trolley Snatcher, Coki, and Benny Page.

Artist: NASTY, MARCUS
Title: Rinse: 10
Label: RINSE (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $10.00
Catalog #: RINSE 014CD
This is the tenth edition of the Rinse label's compilation series, mixed by Marcus Nasty, founder of legendary grime collective, N.A.S.T.Y. Crew, which includes Kano, Ghetts, and D Double E. Features an almost entirely exclusive tracklisting and in-demand club smashes from producers including Crazy Cousinz, Lil Silva, and Roska. Marcus documents funky -- the most current and vibrant evolution of Britain's urban dance scene -- with an hour of all killer and no filler rump-shaker cuts. His style is unique, swift and high octane, a style he developed through his desire to hear as many different tracks as possible in one sitting. His ability to keep the dancefloor moving all night has positioned him as one of funky's most in-demand DJs and his name on a flyer brings ravers from far and wide. When Marcus first came across funky, there was no name for the music. The producers received little attention from DJs because the producers themselves (many of whom had come from grime) didn't know what they were making. Truth be told, they were trying to make house but struggled for recognition because of the difference in production style between their sound and the sanitized U.S. house sound. Marcus recognized this difference as distinctly British and understood it immediately. He called all the producers he knew that were making this new sound and told them to spread the word and to send him their music. A few years on, and Marcus, who was originally inspired by Wigman as the first to introduce the urban scene to house, has been instrumental in developing this latest incarnation of British urban music. So, Rinse: 10 is an absolute must-check for anyone that wants to know about what's going on today in the British urban clubbing scene, as once again, Rinse brings you a mix CD direct from the source. Other artists include: Fuzzy Logic, L.A. Cartier, Ill Blu, Mad One, Vato Gonzalez, Enrique Benetez, Mia Mendez, Altered Natives, Nitro + Plague, Essence, Naughty, Funkystepz, Geeneus, Jamie George, Agent X, Rudimental, May, Mark Ambiance, Perempay, Kris Baya, S-Tee, Sacha, Scotty D & Nikki Slimting, Sweet Boy Candy, Jallapino, Bass Boy, Cad, and Funkystepz.

Artist: ONEMAN
Title: Rinse: 11
Label: RINSE (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $10.00
Catalog #: RINSE 015CD
This is the eleventh edition of the Rinse label's compilation series, mixed by Oneman, who takes this installment on a party-focused excursion through the sounds of London's underground rave scene. Martyn, Geeneus and Ms. Dynamite, Joy Orbison, Joker, Starkey, Bok Bok, Zomby, and more all feature here and the mix lies somewhere between the energy of his Rinse show and live set. Those familiar with Oneman will have come to know him for flinging down pre-2006 dubstep and garage riddims and may be surprised to find a predominantly upfront selection here. With so much new music pouring out from all over the UK, the underground rave scene has always kept the spotlight on DJs that also produce. Savvy ravers will come to see those whose music they've been listening to on radio or downloaded from blogs and rightly too; producer DJs come with the added bonus of a bunch of their own exclusives that may never see a release. It's exciting. Oneman is a raver's DJ and audaciously stays abreast of his producer DJ peers without ever releasing a riddim or remix. Journalists and DJs who suggest that we're at an important time in UK underground dance music can see the proof in this mix. Testament to why the world looks to UK dancefloors for inspiration, Rinse: 11 is a snapshot of UK raving now. Artist: KING KRULE
Title: Rock Bottom
Label: RINSE (UK)
Format: 12"
Price: $11.00
Catalog #: RINSE 015EP
King Krule is SE London-based singer/producer/songwriter Archy Marshall. "Rock Bottom" is a triumphantly doomed airstrike of rhythm and blues, while "Octopus" emerges from beneath a thick cloak of electronic smog and dub textures, melding swathes of low-end frequency with shimmering atmospherics. "Oddly intimate and irrevocably bleak [?] He makes deceptively simple, deeply personal/political art that finds joy -- perhaps its only joy -- in accident and chaos." --Pitchfork, Best New Music (8.0)

Artist: ROSKA
Title: Roska
Label: RINSE (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $10.00
Catalog #: RINSE 016CD
This is the debut full-length album by London, UK's Roska. With a slew of infectious releases on his own imprint Kicks & Snares and a seemingly never ending list of remixes at the request of artists including Zed Bias and Four Tet, the hype on Roska leading up to this album is written on the proverbial wall across radio, in the clubs and on blog sites. A collection of ten of his currently most ubiquitous productions including "I Need Love" and the Jamie George collaboration "Wonderful Day." Undoubtedly, there's a charm in the restraint that Roska affords his production which has seen him adopted by the funky scene as one of their most cherished children. However, welcome as he may be, Roska's more curious than his counterparts to stay outside of the constraints of the genre. He says: "If people wanna call me funky, that's cool, but I don't wanna go out there and say that myself. I hope this album appeals to as many people as possible. I'm travelling abroad DJ'ing in places where funky as we know it here hasn't properly reached and it's a great experience..." Playing to audiences with less rigid expectations has allowed Roska to stay experimental with his sound. Here you'll find curve-ball riddims like "Squark" and "Tomorrow Is Today" which betray his one-time love affair with grime (he was a grime emcee before turning his hand to production.) If it's playing to open-minded crowds that inspires him, then things are really going to heat up for Roska once he returns from Barcelona's Sónar, where he'll be playing as a guest of Mary Anne Hobbs for her BBC Experimental stage, following in the footsteps of Martyn, Kode9 and Joker. Named in Mixmag's "Producers of The Year" list for 2009 after a flurry of EPs, this album is the milestone that marks the firm arrival of Roska.

Artist: KISMET
Title: Rinse: 12
Label: RINSE (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $10.00
Catalog #: RINSE 017CD
Kismet takes the incendiary Rinse series on its twelfth outing, a pulsing journey through the deep, soulful and minimal branches of the vast forest known as house music. Holding down Monday night's 9PM-11PM set on Rinse FM with his crew Circle (as well as his own peak-time Friday night 9PM-11PM set), Kismet is one of Rinse FM's most revered DJs from an up-and-coming scene. When he first began DJing as a teenager, garage was thriving on the underground and about to cross into the mainstream. UK giants such as EZ and Norris "Da Boss" Windross left little room for fresh-faced newcomers to make their mark. As house and garage parted ways, Kismet followed house's path, continuing to collect records. Meanwhile, British rave music continued to splinter and evolve, and each time it shed its skin, new champions were born. Now, Kismet is the young blood of the new generation of DJs who play house to London's underground dancefloors. Kismet has built his respect and following on unerring taste and a record-bag which is regularly restocked with upfront heaters. Rinse: 12 showcases why he is one of the most cherished DJs amongst Rinse FM listeners. Kismet is at the forefront of a new generation of British house DJs and, much like Alexander Nut's Rinse mix, Rinse: 12 invites the listener to experience a relatively nascent but very true club scene at ground level. Running parallel to the commercially-celebrated "funky" scene, but playing to a more aurally-sophisticated crowd -- for those old enough to remember the splinter between "uplifting house & garage" and "garage," we are at a similar crossroads. Strengthening London's sonic links between Detroit and Berlin, Kismet invites all to hear how young London gets down to house in 2010. Artists include: Thomas Schumacher, 2000 And One, DJ Madskillz, cirE aka Error, C. Robert Walker, Rishi Romero, Hiro, Dealers Of Funky Music, Leo Fernandez, Mike Jacinto & Mark Mendes, IC (Circle), Lebzito, DJ HAL, David Garcet & K. Hocini, Kolombo, Glenn Fiasco, Todd Bodine, Plasmik, Wbeeza, and Tina Penni Anne.

Artist: YOUNGSTA
Title: Rinse: 14
Label: RINSE (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $15.50
Catalog #: RINSE 019CD
This is the 14th edition of the Rinse label's compilation series, mixed by Youngsta -- his fourth mix for Rinse/Tempa. Previous releases include Dubstep Allstars volumes 2 and 4 (TEMPA 004CD/006CD), and I Love Dubstep (RINSE 007CD) alongside Geeneus. Rinse: 14 features an upfront selection of dubstep's deeper sounds, including four exclusive tracks. Youngsta is world-renowned for his flawless mixing and meticulous selection and he has been a resident at famed dubstep club night FWD>> since its inception in 2001. He is also one of the longest-running DJs on Rinse FM, having held a weekly show for 7 years. Continuously pushing the sound forward, he has been on air since he was 13, starting off on the now-defunct London pirate radio station Freek FM. Since 2004, he has been the dubstep buyer for legendary London record store Blackmarket Records (now BM Soho) and an A&R at Tempa. Rinse:14 sees him further solidify his place as one of the best dubstep selectors in the world, curating a heavy-hitting "eyes down" selection of dubstep's deeper sounds. Opening up with "Down" by SP:MC and LX ONE, it sets the tone of what's to come on the 20-track compilation. Taking you on a journey through the deeper and darker side of dubstep, Youngsta's uncompromising selection is more evident here than it has ever been, concentrating on the sound that he has always encompassed and represented on dancefloors worldwide. The mix features four exclusive tracks including "Organic Step" and "Xylophobia VIP" by Icicle and "Wilderness" and "Darkstar" by Verse. Although he's not yet known as a producer, Youngsta has undoubtedly had a strong influence on the progression of the sound and has co-produced two tracks on the compilation: "Momentum" alongside Icicle and "Arcane" with Kryptic Minds. Other artists include: Freeze, Matt U, Cyrus, DJ Madd + Chris SU, Alys Be and Distance.

Artist: ROSKA
Title: Rinse: 15
Label: RINSE (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $10.00
Catalog #: RINSE 020CD
This is the 15th edition of the Rinse label's compilation series, mixed by Roska. This edition is without doubt one of the finest, following on from successful releases from Youngsta, Oneman, Marcus Nasty, N-Type, Skream and more. This is the second release from Roska on the Rinse label, following on from the ten-track collection of his most ubiquitous productions entitled Rinse Presents: Roska (RINSE 016CD). Roska has been a regular DJ on Rinse FM since late 2008 and this 15th edition also provides a snapshot of a live Roska DJ set. Roska opens up with "Myth vs. Wonderful Day," setting the tone of what's to come across the 25 tracks. Bringing all the sounds that he's embodied and supported on his radio show on Rinse FM and his club shows, he seamlessly weaves in and out across spectrums of funky and house. Featuring the likes of Katy B's massive "Lights On" (feat. Ms. Dynamite) to J:Kenzo's "Ruckas" and from Redlight's remix of Magnetic Man's "I Need Air" to Roska's own "Squark VIP," it also features tracks from fellow Rinse FM stalwarts Brackles, Zinc and MA1. Overall, an essential mix for the summer from one of the UK's finest funky producers and DJs. Artist: BEN UFO
Title: Rinse: 16
Label: RINSE (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $15.50
Catalog #: RINSE 021CD
This is the 16th edition of the Rinse label's compilation series, mixed by Ben UFO, following on from successful releases from Youngsta, Oneman, Marcus Nasty, N-Type, Skream and Roska. Ben UFO has been at the forefront of the evolution of dubstep to its current state: as co-founder of Hessle Audio, as host of the Hessle show on Rinse FM and as a DJ in his own right. On this compilation, brand-new cuts from the UK underground rub shoulders with house, techno and experimental music from across the globe. An eclectic mix of artists are featured including How To Dress Well, Actress, Carl Craig, Pearson Sound, Mr. Monday, Kode 9, etc. The series started with Rinse boss Geeneus and has since taken in a who's-who of UK underground dance music. Over the last couple of years, the boundaries around the sound that was once simply known as "dubstep" have disintegrated, allowing outside influences to work their way into its DNA. Ben UFO has been at the forefront of these developments in every capacity. Rinse: 16 captures a snapshot of that process in action, where dubstep's 140bpm skank slows to house's heartbeat pulse, and where excess fat melts away to leave little but tough percussion and wispy melody. What remains as a hallmark, though, is the presence of sub-bass -- a thick tar that binds together everything from the acidic electro of Swims to the barely-there techno of Actress' "Ghosts Have A Heaven." Starting with the house music that forms the backbone of his sets, deep cuts from Aaron Carl, Kassem Mosse and STL, the UK gradually makes its presence felt in Karenn's convulsive "Caretaker" and Jam City's hyperactive grime. As the two styles meld together, house's four-to-the-floor throb begins to break apart even as tempo remains fixed, leaving the exquisitely broken hybrid that's defined 2011 so far; like Ben's shows, it practically demands that you immediately start exploring further. Other artists include: Dro Carey, Third Side, XDB, 2562, Lerosa, Objekt, Champion, Snugs, Elgato, Soul Capsule, Ordinary People, Fierce, M Dubs, General Levy, Pangaea, Helix, Shackleton, Unknown, Bassboy, Bok Bok, Sicko Cell and Andrew Coltrane.

Artist: XXXY
Title: Got Me So
Label: RINSE (UK)
Format: 12"
Price: $11.00
Catalog #: RINSE 021EP
UK house producer Rupert Taylor aka XXXY presents his debut for Rinse, offering three tracks of shimmering, synth-led house music, marked out by Taylor's distinctive, spiraling melodies and sampled voices. "Got Me So" starts slowly, opening in a quiet cascade of Casio tones and looped vocals before abruptly exploding with the most muscular bass-line Taylor's crafted to date. "Get Ready" has a sweetness that harks more explicitly back to speed garage, and "Studio 9 (Just Like That)," is its most directly house-leaning track.

Artist: ELIJAH+SKILLIAM
Title: Rinse: 17
Label: RINSE (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $15.50
Catalog #: RINSE 022CD
This is the 17th edition of the Rinse label's compilation series, mixed by Elijah & Skilliam. Their aim for this mix: to showcase the best of grime in 2011. This mix features a majority of instrumental productions, including "Take Off" by Faze Miyake -- widely regarded as the instrumental grime track of the year -- with key vocal contributions from P Money, Blacks, Trim and Wiley. Elijah & Skilliam run their own successful label and club night, "Butterz," with highly acclaimed releases from artists such as P Money, Trim and Terror Danjah. The duo's aim with this 27-track, all grime mix, much like their Rinse show, is to showcase the best of grime so far this year, alongside some of their exclusive dubplates. But unlike most grime mixes, they've aimed it straight at the club with a real beginning, middle and end. There is currently no-one better placed than Elijah & Skilliam to bring you a snapshot of grime music in 2011. Elijah and Skilliam have initiated a lot of what appears here; pushing Trim for "I Am," giving Starkey's beat for "This Aint Me" to Trim and instigating P Money's "Boo You," and Royal-T's remix of Grime's godfather Wiley. The mix is also packed with exclusives, taking in DJ Q's remix of "Woooo" by S-X and Starkey's remix of "Air Bubble," previously only available on vinyl from Butterz. Also included is "Tag," a one-off producer battle by Swindle, Wizzy Wow, Rude Kid and Terror Danjah, an exclusive previewed only a couple of times on their Rinse FM Thursday night/Friday morning show. Other artists include: D.O.K., Slickman, Mr. Mitch, Rossi B & Luca, P Jam, Ruby Lee Ryder, Spooky, Teddy, Bok Bok, Preditah, Treble Clef and TRC.

Artist: KRYSTAL KLEAR
Title: Addiction (feat. Jenna G)
Label: RINSE (UK)
Format: 12"
Price: $11.00
Catalog #: RINSE 022EP
Dublin-born and Manchester-based Krystal Klear presents his Addiction EP on Rinse. The title-track is a funky slice of modern boogie driven by a fat analog bass line and swirling strings, all capped off with a towering vocal performance from Jenna G. It is joined by an extended instrumental edit that blasts the original into deep space. "No Sweat," meanwhile, is a slinkier and more romantic companion to the bombast of the title-track, with chimes and synthetic strings picking out woozy melodies above a strutting bass line.

Artist: RADFORD, MARK
Title: Rinse: 18
Label: RINSE (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $15.50
Catalog #: RINSE 023CD
This is the 18th edition of the Rinse label's compilation series, mixed by Mark Radford. Over the last couple of years, as UK funky has gradually drained out of the clubs, young urban London has increasingly been turning to the deeper, denser sounds of tech and minimal house for its dancefloor kicks. Mark Radford, who started his Saturday night Rinse FM slot in April 2011 after his profile had steadily grown over the preceding few years, has been a pioneering figure in that shift. Drawn to tech house's hypnotic, bass-heavy drive, he found himself frustrated with what he saw as a lack of soul in much of the genre. So in 2008 he began to dig deeply for tracks that kept the rawness and energy intact but didn't sacrifice any of the melody and musicality. His new sets started to skillfully balance those two facets, drawing new energy out of the tunes he was dropping. Rinse: 18 is a formidable document of the approach that has made Mark such a respected figure in such a short space of time. Drawing together music from well-known European producers like Steve Bug and John Tejada with newer UK names like James What and No Artificial Colours, it accurately captures both the more wide-reaching scope of his weekly Rinse FM show and the heady, adrenalized energy of his peak-time club sets. Opening with the frosty computer soul of Alex Niggeman's "Point Of No Return," he immediately draws deep and dubby for Rekleiner's "Some People" and John Tejada's remix of Max Cooper. Fittingly, an early highlight arrives as a nod to classic Detroit: Carl Craig's stunning remix of Agoria's "Speechless," a seedy, nocturnal creature that acts as a perfect transition into the mix's ruder, more energetic second half. Other artists include: Mark Henning, Lee Brink, Tina Geru, WildKats, Noir & Haze, Subban, A1 Bassline, Tiger Stripes, Solomun and Lazaro Casanova.

Artist: BRACKLES
Title: Rinse Presents: Brackles
Label: RINSE (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $15.50
Catalog #: RINSE 024CD
The latest in the Rinse Presents series comes from London-based DJ and producer Brackles. Brackles has steadily built a name for himself as a DJ and producer to watch, after he started spinning at 15 years old and went on to become a regular at London's world famous FWD>> club night and host of his own weekly show on Rinse FM. As a producer, he's released several highly sought-after releases, including 2011's Number One 12" on Rinse. Brackles' DJ sets are renowned for being full of party-starters, energetic and elastic, effortlessly taking in funky, grime, vintage 2-step and bassline. Over the past few years, his productions have increasingly grown to reflect the careful selection and eclectic approach that makes his sets so compulsive: all deftly-swung percussion that nods to UK garage, the rude, grimey swagger of funky and technicolor washes of synth. There's something unmistakeably London about Brackles' music too -- it's present both in the sheer rawness and vibrancy of his tracks, and in the way he effortlessly draws upon the city's entire dance music history for ideas and energy. Brackles' Rinse Presents full-length hones his sound still further, retaining his distinctive, bright, crisp production approach while expanding his scope considerably. Across its length, razor-sharp club tunes and deep, percussive house tracks sit comfortably alongside some of his most upfront and pop-friendly music to date. And they're often all at play within the space of a single track: the four vocal tunes all wield the same balance of grit and soul that powered some of funky's most definitive anthems. Opener "Never Coming Down," for example, sets a honeyed vocal from Lily McKenzie to tightly-syncopated percussion and booming sub-bass. And where McKenzie's vocal performance is smooth and languid, Terri Walker's appearance on the shuffly "DPMO" is jittery and defiant, turning Brackles' angular garage backdrop into an unlikely pop song. The instrumentals on Rinse Presents: Brackles are equally powerful. "I Can't Wait" and "Squarehead" both all add extra muscle to the sort of spiky garage he's released though Blunted Robots in the past, all explosive sub-bass and hard snare hits, while "Too Much" stains a grime instrumental day-glo. The gorgeous "Lighthouse" and closer "Earphone Memories" take on the bass-heavy house sound that's currently owning UK dancefloors, but bury it deep in layers of fluorescent melody. And "Walkin' Out" is something different again, a volatile and unpredictable flurry of drum-hits and wispy synth, it's likely to throw a curveball at any dancefloor. A very London sound, then, from a producer never content to remain fixed in any one place, Rinse Presents: Brackles is a formidable statement of intent.

Artist: ROYAL-T
Title: I Know You Want Me EP
Label: RINSE (UK)
Format: 12"
Price: $11.00
Catalog #: RINSE 024EP
Royal T's first release for Rinse since 2012's Rinse Presents: Royal T finds the young grime producer in fine, rowdy form. "I Know You Want Me" is a powerful, future-shocked hybrid that melds the swing of speed garage and two-step with grime's bumpy bass blasts. "Saints" is a classic, handclap-led grime tune, driven along by pirouetting synth arpeggios. "Inside the Ride VIP" inverts "Inside the Ride," turning it into a chaotic, scattergun version of the focused original. "Koopa Shell" is where grime atmospheres meet trap rhythms.

Artist: ICICLE
Title: Rinse: 19
Label: RINSE (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $15.50
Catalog #: RINSE 025CD
This is the 19th edition of the Rinse label's compilation series, mixed by Icicle -- hugely respected by both dubstep and D&B heads through his output on Shogun Audio, Med School, Critical Recordings, Soul-r and Renegade Hardware. His productions are supported by the likes of Youngsta, Distance, J:Kenzo, N-Type, Plastician and more. Known to Rinse FM listeners as the host of the Shogun Audio show. Lately, UK dancefloors have become spaces where genres collide. It's become commonplace to DJs to refuse to be confined within any particular bracket, making for club sets that frequently veer wildly from one genre to the next. It's impressive how swiftly dancers have become used to that level of openness. It has taken DJs and producers with enough imagination and skill -- many, like Kode9, Oneman and Ben UFO, all closely associated with Rinse FM -- to highlight the shared ground between all these disparate sounds. Jeroen Snik aka Icicle is another such explorer. Starting out as a drum 'n' bass DJ and producer in his native Holland, his move to London and helming of Shogun Audio's Rinse FM show gradually drew him deeper into the ever-evolving sounds of dubstep. A long-time techno fan, he found in dubstep's wide-open spaces and rolling momentum the link between techno and the drum 'n' bass he had been producing and spinning. Attracted to the elements that all three shared, he began to include more dubstep in his sets, slowing the tempo down from 170 bpm while keeping the mood dark and contemplative. It's that same open-minded attitude that informs the slowly-shifting nature of Icicle's Rinse: 19 mix. It's appropriate, too, as it perfectly reflects Rinse FM's own refusal to remain limited within any one space. Beginning with the slower, techno-infused moves of his own "Deep Tech" and Locked Groove's "Centraal," Rinse: 19 mutates through ocean-deep halfstep into thrashy, ultra-percussive dubstep, before exploding into intricate, melodic drum 'n' bass. Throughout, the mix's anchoring rhythms remain constantly in flux, shifting seamlessly between four-to-the-floor and broken variants. The mood, however, remains consistent throughout. Artists include: Locked Groove, Distance, Spinline, J. Robinson, Proxima, Sleeper & District, Youngsta, Killawatt, Clarity, Rockwell and Sabre.

Artist: KODE9
Title: Uh/Ok
Label: RINSE (UK)
Format: 12"
Price: $11.00
Catalog #: RINSE 025EP
Two tracks on Rinse from Kode9 -- "Uh" (which features on Rinse: 22) and "Ok" (exclusive) -- make a thrilling point of contact between grime, broken UK house and the disorienting lurch of trap. "Uh" bounds along at house tempo, repeatedly switching dramatically between the half-time lope of hip-hop, the shuffle of two-step and house's 4/4 pulse. "Ok" finds him exploring stranger, more rhythmically divergent territories: its strings of triplet-led hi-hat clicks and time-stretched snares swirling wildly around each other, accompanied by a grimey synth melody.

Artist: ROSKA
Title: Rinse Presents - Roska: 2
Label: RINSE (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $15.50
Catalog #: RINSE 026CD
Through a series of iconic early releases in 2008 on his own Roska Kicks & Snares imprint, Roska originally made his name for his raw, gritty funky tracks. However, even at the time, when the funky scene at large seemed like a time-bomb just waiting to explode and take the mainstream by storm, he was doing something subtly different. Strongly rooted in Roska's history in grime, his music infused that genre's roughness and nervous energy with more sultry, swung rhythms, welding big, blocky melodies to a percussive house backbone. Rinse Presents - Roska: 2 is his most wide-reaching collection of music to date, reaching far beyond the confines of funky while still keeping his signature sonic flourishes intact. Rather than remaining locked to any one scene, Rinse Presents - Roska: 2 continues to show off Roska's development as an artist in his own right. Club-driven funky still remains at the heart of the music he makes -- it's immediately audible in opener "You Dun Kno's" springy, syncopated percussion and "Do You Like This," which finds Jamie George again joining Roska. But elsewhere on Rinse Presents - Roska: 2, he uses funky's lithe percussive patterns as a springboard to toy with other sounds. So the snare hits on "Memories" crack like gunshots, but they're lifted by a buoyant vocal from Ruby Goe, and "Eleven45" is a deliciously synthetic slice of computer funk. "OnRinseSinceZeroEight" is, in essence, a grime track at 130bpm, switching up regularly between halfstep rhythm and deadly four-to-the-floor. The twin spectres of grime and dubstep turn up throughout the record. Sweetie Irie's gruff turn on "Badman" is bolstered by seasick, descending synths. Mz. Bratt delivers a hyperkinetic MC performance on "Go," and "Spanner In The Works," a formidable collaboration with Swindle & Funtcase, is led by stringy funk chords reminiscent of the hyper-colored synth work of the Butterz crew.

Artist: HRDVSION
Title: I Like the Feeling You're Giving Me
Label: RINSE (UK)
Format: 12"
Price: $11.00
Catalog #: RINSE 026EP
The I Like the Feeling You're Giving Me EP for Rinse encapsulates many aspects of Hrdvision's sound, drawing strongly both from Detroit techno's woozy, melody-soaked romanticism and the precision and intricacy of minimalist European house and techno. The title-track coasts along on a clipped, synthetic house rhythm and a thick, fuzzy bass line while melodic drones stretch out across its surface. "Barcelona" and "Apocalypse6" are both more languid and more dramatic while "Feel You're Fading" is a peak-time track with a mirror-like synth.

Artist: ROYAL-T
Title: Rinse Presents: Royal-T
Label: RINSE (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $15.50
Catalog #: RINSE 027CD
Royal-T stands at the forefront of a new generation of grime producers. His tracks combine the snappy intensity of early grime with the infectious, bubbly swing of classic two-step garage. Royal-T made his Rinse debut with a two-track 12". The A-side "Inside the Ride" features here, summing up the album's upfront energy, exploding in a maelstrom of distorted bass lines and brittle percussion. "Cruel to Be Kind" and "Music Box" are similarly anchored in the tough, articulate rhythms of grime. The former makes the connection particularly explicit thanks to a rapid-fire guest appearance from label-mate P Money. The other tracks show his versatility as a producer, as well as a talent for assembling smart and sophisticated grooves from very few elements. "Missing Aurora": lithe two-step percussion and silvery vocals. "Don't Call Me Baby": its distinctive lead line harks back to the bounce of '90s speed garage. "Work Your Body": a collaboration with funky figurehead Roska, it drives forward with incessant momentum, roots fixed equally in both producers' musical past. No matter how far Royal-T's music might stray from the original grime template, the rudeness and immediacy are still never far from earshot. Rinse Presents: Royal-T represents a further exploration of Rinse's long-running love of distinctive and upfront UK music.

Artist: UNCLE DUGS
Title: Rinse: 20
Label: RINSE (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $15.50
Catalog #: RINSE 028CD
Rinse FM started life in 1994 as a jungle station, and jungle lies at the roots of each new music Rinse has championed since. With Rinse: 20, Uncle Dugs, the station's only dedicated old-skool DJ, offers a potent reminder of the genre's power. "It's my 'Story of Jungle mix'," says Dugs. "A story of jungle music until it changed to drum 'n' bass." Opening with Lennie De Ice's "We Are I.E" -- widely accepted to be one of the first jungle tracks -- the album travels through an exhilarating chronology of the genre's evolution through the '90s, mixed all on vinyl, live. Dugs is perfectly placed to take listeners through that history. He's been involved in pirate radio for 20 years, having caught the rave bug as a teenager. Listening to the mix, you can hear that passion bubbling to the surface. Dugs returned to Rinse in 2011 to start a new weekly show of old skool jungle and hardcore on the station, as well as regularly inviting in legends of the scene to be interviewed on air. The response has been astonishing, which is one of the main reasons why a mix like this -- which recaptures the energy and innovation of a scene at the height of its creative power -- feels like an important statement. With so much of the new music that Rinse champions so strongly connected to jungle, there's no better time to remind people of those roots, and how deep they truly run. Artists include: Lennie De Ice, Code 071, Bodysnatch, The Criminal Minds, D'Livin, Noise Factory, Kuff, X Project, Nookie, Cloud 9, Origin Unknown, Long Dark, Slipmatt, Leviticus, Conquering Lion, Alex Reece, Andy C, Jo, Shimon, Wild Apache, DJ Phantasy, Shy FX, The Fugees, and Zinc.

I Love Grime is a 52-track 2CD summary of the ever-expanding grime scene. Bringing together the past, present and future of the UK's fastest-evolving musical movement, Rinse presents an expansive collection charting the evolution of the London sound, from its origins as garage's raw and reckless little brother all the way through to its current status as chart-topping commercial steamroller. Champion of the sound before it so much as had a name, Rinse FM's status as the sound of young London's cutting edge has allowed it unprecedented access to classic anthems, the biggest game changers and those most likely to blow in the near future. Mixed by the legendary Sir Spyro, DJ for international chart-topper Tinchy Stryder and a long-standing pillar of the scene and Sian Anderson, a hugely-respected DJ and tastemaker representing the diverse sound's next generation, the 52 tracks here chart the establishment and growth of grime from early pioneers such as So Solid Crew and Pay As U Go Cartel; formative figureheads More Fire Crew, Roll Deep & Ruff Sqwad, commercial titans Dizzee Rascal, Wiley & Tinchy Stryder all the way to the scene's cutting-edge, with artists such as Kozzie, Faze Miyake and Rinse's very own P Money and Royal-T. Other artists include: Tubby T, Jammer, Spooky, Teddy Music, Newham Generals, Kano, Outlaw Breaks, C4, Youngstar, Lethal B, JME & Fire Camp, Bok Bok, Frisco, Double S & Chipmunk, Champion, Skepta, Low Deep, Lord Of The Mics Allstars, D Double E, Dimples & Flava D, Big $hot, Boy Better Know, Magnetic Man, Skream, Ego, Shif Man & Merky, Trim, Maxsta, OG'z & Sukh Knight, Swindle, Rival, Ed Sheeran, JME, and Lethal Bizzle.

Artist: T.WILLIAMS
Title: Rinse: 21
Label: RINSE (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $15.50
Catalog #: RINSE 030CD
T.Williams sits near the forefront of a group of producers twisting elements of grime and funky into a rough-edged strain of UK house. His Rinse: 21 mix takes the form of an hour-long, club-centered set. It begins slow and soulful, before slowly escalating through several different phases. A feeling of acceleration characterizes the mix's first third, before Williams sinks into shimmering, loop-driven peak-time house for its middle section. It's around this point that the presence of grime -- the genre that T.Williams first made his name in -- begins to make itself felt. Grime and funky are reprised during the mix's final third -- a potent reminder of the pressure that still lurks behind the often smoother surfaces of Williams' peak-time selection. A series of ruff-neck grime/house hybrids follow, bringing the mix to a close in an exhilarating and playful blur of aggression and synthetic texture -- and in doing so, hark neatly backward to Williams' own roots, and those of Rinse FM itself. Artists include: Tendai, Juno Sutton, Soul Clap, Breach, Nitetime, Himal, Disclosure, Groove Control, Tuff Jam, George Fitzgerald, Aphrodisiax, Huxley, Eats Everything, Dusky, Maya Jane Coles, Breach & Midland, Julio Bashmore, MTD & Dutty Dan, Jessie Ware, Roska, J. Bevin and Foamo.

Artist: KODE9
Title: Rinse: 22
Label: RINSE (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $15.50
Catalog #: RINSE 031CD
Rinse: 22 marks the beginning of a new era for Rinse FM's iconic mix CD series. Where previous installments have featured only DJs who regularly play on the station at the time of release, the mix series now casts its net wider. Future installments will also feature DJs who are respected pioneers of the sounds that Rinse FM plays and represents, and Kode9 -- founder of the iconic Hyperdub label, and with his long personal involvement with Rinse FM -- is an ideal figure with which to make that transition. The mix is a vibrant snapshot of the DJing approach he's been developing recently, drawing from an ever-broader range of styles. It opens with bounding, sub-heavy house and funky, before tracing an almost subliminal increase in tempo through trap-inspired hip-hop instrumentals and footwork. The mix is a thrilling and visceral exploration of rhythm and texture, where eddies of percussion and rogue rips of sub-bass swirl around and into one another, keeping the mix in continual, anxious motion. Grimey strings and gloopy synth melodies from DVA and Champion curl around Jam City's juddering rhythms and the soured bass-blasts of Joy O's anthemic "BRTHTT." Later, RP Boo's sinister "Steamidity" sharply cuts across into angular footwork territory for a final frenetic half-hour of rhythmic free-for-all, where DJ Rashad is a key presence, his tracks dicing soul samples into expressive new configurations. Three brand-new Kode9 tracks appear on Rinse: 22 -- of which "Uh" is set to be released as an accompanying single, backed with a brand-new exclusive track. Artists include: Burial, Theo Parrish, Morgan Zarate (feat. Roses Gabor), Titonton, Alex Parkinson & Chris Lorenzo, Funkystepz, Terror Danjah & Champion, Kuedo, Visionist, Dexplicit, Faze Miyake, The Bug (feat. Flow Dan), Cashmere Cat, Rustie, S-Type, DJ Manny, Uncon Sci, Bleep Bloop, DJ Earl, Sam Binga & Addison Groove, DJ Spinn, Freshmoon, DJ Manny, and Phil.
