Artist: WHITE HILLS
Title: Heads On Fire
Label: ROCKET RECORDINGS (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $16.50
Catalog #: LAUNCH 029CD
Overdue reissue of Heads On Fire, the out-of-print second album by New York's White Hills. Since this release, their first for Rocket, the band have gone to release several very highly regarded albums for Thrill Jockey. Ever changing and always striving to push the envelope, White Hills' album Heads On Fire finds the band playing a heavier style of space-rock. Relentless and punishing, the album kicks off with the spacey swirl of the song "Radiate" and ends with the speed-laden blast of the track "Eternity." Along the way, a mesmerizing blend of growling fuzz/wah guitar, pounding bass, sprawling synth, and chaotic drumming doses one's head three sheets to the wind. Whether it be the mere one-minute track "Return Of Speed Toilet" or the 26+ minute "Don't Be Afraid," the listener will be taken on a ride through a world that is all-encompassing from beginning to end. The band started in New York as a solo project by Dave W. Since then it has turned into a trio, with Ego Sensation (bass) plus various drummers which has included Kid Millions of Oneida fame. Like Oneida, White Hills also share a love for a hard rock stripped of its bombast -- their heavier, dirtier, earthier influences contend with airier atmospheres while combining steadiness with spacious, soaring guitars. These heads are always on fire.

Title: Which Side Are You On?
Label: ROCKET RECORDINGS (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: LAUNCH 030CD
"Rocket Recordings are proud to announce the release of Which Side Are You On?, the debut album by Southeast London 3-piece The Notorious Hi-Fi Killers. Which Side Are You On? presents the trio's distinctive take on loud, throttling noise rock blended with manic psychedelia, taking the listener on a journey through ferocious 4-track blasts, analog tape space rock and intuitive heavy blues. This is the sound of a primal rock and roll band at their most uncompromising and dirtiest. From the one and a half minute biker-punk anthem of 'Queen O' Fuck' through the fuzzed-up blues of the Freddie King classic 'Going Down' to the 18 minutes of psychedelic bliss of 'Near The Final Destination' which crumbles into a mantra of noise, drones and horns, with the added assistance of Alexander Tucker, Duke Garwood and members of Part Chimp. The Notorious Hi-Fi Killers have been a common sight on the stages in their hometown of London and various dimly-lit warehouses across the country, playing alongside bands like The Heads, Lords, Parts and Labour, Shit & Shine and White Hills."

Artist: TEETH OF THE SEA
Title: Orphaned By The Ocean
Label: ROCKET RECORDINGS (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $16.50
Catalog #: LAUNCH 031CD
Originally released in 2009. In a time before Teeth Of The Sea, there was JAWS. A mythical beast that existed chiefly in its members' imaginations, it was to be the ultimate incandescent and unsavory aural burnout; a bracing, no-rules tarpit of abjection and intrigue. Then they actually had a band practice, and found that instead it sounded like an inept, drumloop-driven racket. Only mildly disheartened, the band lay dormant until a decidedly blurry, in-the-red evening at a show in one of the murkier quarters of the metropolis, when its entourage were excited enough in their addled state to forge a master plan once again: Their mission: to stand atop the scrapheap of modern avant-rock like some wayward, drunken colossus. Armed with freedom of intent, irreverence and sheer hedonistic spirit, they would banish the legions of laptop-tapping timewasters and po-faced noisemongers that habitually blighted their evenings out, forever. Then they actually had some band practices, and were pleasantly surprised to find that what emerged from the new line-up was a turbulent, fiery and atmospheric instrumental brew that encompassed searing cosmic psychedelia, melodramatic giallo soundscapes, mariachi melancholia and Kraut-tinged droning occultism. This band hence metamorphosized into Teeth Of The Sea. Two years and more have now passed since that fateful night, and though their sound has blossomed into the expansive, evocative and electrifying elixir you'll hear on their Rocket Recordings debut Orphaned By The Ocean, their modus operandi remains exactly the same: to forge onward irrespective of genre, fashion and occasionally common sense. To have no agenda save what thrills them at any given moment and to place reckless oblivion as the ideal destination for their quest.

Artist: TEETH OF THE SEA
Title: Hypnoticon
Label: ROCKET RECORDINGS (UK)
Format: LP
Price: $16.50
Catalog #: LAUNCH 035LP
Hypnoticon is the first new release by London's Teeth Of The Sea since their acclaimed debut album Orphaned By The Ocean (LAUNCH 031CD). Since their debut was released, Teeth Of The Sea have been taking their unique sound around the UK's stages and blowing away acolytes while touring with the likes of Oneida, Wooden Shjips and The Heads. Now Rocket Recordings are proud to introduce Hypnoticon, an EP of new material from Teeth Of The Sea. The EP kicks off with the track "In The Space Capsule (Love Theme)," and Queen fans amongst us will recognize this track as a cover version of a track from the Flash Gordon soundtrack. The band covered the entire album in front of the film (and in costume) on New Year's Eve 2009, and this track struck such a nerve that it became the opener of their live set, and was thus committed spectacularly to posterity. Those of you that witnessed their sets on the recent Oneida tour may recognize the second track "Hypnoticon Viva" as their set closer. An in-your-face keyboard-driven psychedelic juggernaut, it combines a formidable acid-fried propulsion with a white-light rock imperative that joins the cosmic dots between Spacemen 3 and Iron Maiden to euphoric effect. Finally, we have the track "The Island Is," an 11-minute travelogue of haunting ambience and panoramic melancholia that showcases Teeth Of The Sea at their most mournful, cinematic and otherworldly.

Artist: GNOD & WHITE HILLS
Title: Gnod Drop Out With White Hills II
Label: ROCKET RECORDINGS (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $16.50
Catalog #: LAUNCH 037CD
Rocket Recordings are pleased to announce the reissue of the now highly sought-after 2010 double LP Gnod Droput With White Hills II. This reissue comes packaged in different artwork from the original release. Released on CD for the first time, it will also feature a previously-unreleased bonus track. Gnod Drop Out With White Hills II is the first official collaboration between two of the most colossal cosmic manglers on the planet, that of astral rejecters Gnod (Manchester, UK) and space-rock juggernauts White Hills (New York). Hot on the heels of their Not Not Fun sold out release, as well as countless self-unleashed CD-Rs and various indie label alliances, Gnod have been stirring their galactic soup of flashbacked rituals with unpredictable, incendiary results, both on record and as a live experience. Having them join forces with White Hills for this record is akin to having the aural equivalent of those 3D magic eye stereograms -- looked at in one way, they just don't make sense, but seen through the repetition of the music, the result is out of this world. Since White Hills' last outing with Rocket Recordings on the Collisions split with The Heads in 2009, the band have successfully released their debut album for Thrill Jockey and now have notched up an impressive back catalog of releases. Their fiery brand of heavy space-rock has seen them burning up live appearances over the years as they continue on the path towards uncharted territories. To celebrate this thundering union, Rocket Recordings have embarked upon the release of a double vinyl LP expanding into four phases of pulsating mantras, awash with all the hypno-propulsion both bands' motor skills can pilot. It's brimming with surrendered NEU!-like patterns, like both bands driving through Dingerland with "L.A. Woman" blasting from the rushing air. We have 16-minute elegant Bel Air suites, whose ebbing and flowing mesmerizing grooves burst with swooping grandiose synths, like gentle waves hanging in time. Interjections of oscillating guitars and keyboards, designed to propel the captured listener into a trance-inducing sun roof of kosmische blur, rupture out through the expansive blue. The 8 tracks are embedded with four long 10-minute+ pieces and these anchor the whole experience firmly into an exciting haze of echoing psychedelia, electronic and experimental Krautrock trippo-nova. After which, all four corners of your mind's eye have been consecrated in a world of undulating symphonies.

Artist: SERPENTINA SATELITE
Title: Mecanica Celeste
Label: ROCKET RECORDINGS (UK)
Format: LP
Price: $21.00
Catalog #: LAUNCH 038LP
This is the third official recording by South American space-rockers Serpentina Satelite. After the success of their album Nothing To Say, the band returned to their studio in Peru to record this more ambitious and accomplished-sounding follow-up. The album recalls all the great psychedelic bands from the past 40 years, from '70s bands like Ash Ra Tempel, Amon Düül II and Hawkwind; through to '80s bands like Monster Magnet (particularly Tab-era) and Loop and today's contemporary cosmic warlords like Eternal Tapestry, White Hills and Magic Lantern. Mecanica Celeste is a conceptually unique take on psychedelia, conceived by manipulating traditional religious songs, text ideology and poetry with heavy fuzz guitars, swirling drones, spaced-out wah solos, motorik rhythms and delayed vocals, to create a head-melting experience of an album which climaxes with the proto-metal riffs of track "Sendero," giving the band a fresh-sounding approach to the well-trod grounds of space rock: Serpentina Satelite tried to get to heaven but ended up in space.

Title: Your Mercury
Label: ROCKET RECORDINGS (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $16.50
Catalog #: LAUNCH 040CD
Teeth Of The Sea return with Your Mercury, their colossal second LP. Balanced elegantly between electronic exploration and incendiary psychedelic freakout, these 46 minutes showcase a band whose expansive mindset has birthed a unique sound, more dynamic, adventurous and vividly atmospheric than ever before. Your Mercury exists on a strange and beguiling astral plane, whereby the boundaries between the synth odysseys of the '70s, the guitar-noise-fuelled infernos of the '80s, horrorscore schlock, Reich-ian repetition, and a whole plethora of other cathode-ray and speaker-stack birthed epiphanies are blurred into one futuristic and fearsomely coherent whole. Teeth Of The Sea, the most exciting psychedelic band in the UK, have spun into a brand new orbit. In the vein of: Eno, Goblin, Emeralds, Butthole Surfers, Ash Ra Tempel and Liars.

Artist: GNOD
Title: INGNODWETRUST
Label: ROCKET RECORDINGS (UK)
Format: LP
Price: $23.00
Catalog #: LAUNCH 042LP
Brothers and sisters, to prepare ourselves to celebrate the sacred mysteries of Gnod, let us call to mind our sins. We believe in one Gnod, Gnod Almighty, makers of heavy black slab on Earth. We believe in one Chord, seamless, sublime, the one and only sound of Gnod, eternally begotten of the marcher. Gnod from Gnod, light from light, true Gnod from true Gnod, begotten, not made, of one Being with the maker; through Them all riffs were played. For us and for our salvation They came down from Manchester; by the power of Tony's (un)limit, They came to reincarnate and made the last disco'd beat. Tony's First Communion, if you choose to be blessed by this record, is the first reception of the Sacrament on vinyl; this long-standing favorite has been celebrated over centuries of incarnations and Rocket are proud to release its rite of passage. The ceremony of this Communion lasts 20 minutes and 2 seconds. On the second side, Gnod rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; They ascended into noise upon this Earth and were seated at the right hand of the Vatican. This 13-minute holy doctrine sees Gnod take away the sins of the world; it cleanses the incense (the in-sense-out-sense) from the all-seeing (third) eye, like a Faustian Butthole Surfers sharing bread with Shit & Shine and John Carpenter turning water into wine. Some ceremonies owe their institution to purely physical reason; for Gnod, it's the mystical reason that They represent. INGNODWETRUST is founded on honor and soul, They for one are finally washing their hands with downcast eyes.

Artist: ANNAPURNA ILLUSION
Title: Life Is An Illusion
Label: ROCKET RECORDINGS (UK)
Format: LP
Price: $23.00
Catalog #: LAUNCH 043LP
Rocket Recordings are proud to introduce the pyramidal meditationist Life Is An Illusion album by France's Annapurna Illusion, the evil twin of Not Not Fun's High Wolf. Life Is An Illusion is scattered with fizzing electric guitars and ambient ragas which unfurl with the might of a psychedelic blizzard, fogging the sponges of the brain and eyeballs with a wash of hallucinations where Ash Ra Temple jam for hours on end with Loop. Tropical repetitive rhythms drone and drift, guided by a swarm of breezy effects and celestial layered synths that engulf the base of the mountain in hypnotic swirls of colorful, head-spinning rituals before zipping airborne to glide in a state of tranced euphoria.

Artist: ONEIDA/MUGSTAR
Title: Collisions 02
Label: ROCKET RECORDINGS (UK)
Format: LP
Price: $20.00
Catalog #: LAUNCH 044LP
New York's Oneida and Liverpool's Mugstar exert overdriven oscillating forces on an interstellar trip of humming ohm amps and shifting clusters where time shuttles flicker back and forth between eons. Explore the second in the Rocket Recordings odyssean Collisions series and joyride this twin engine release. The proceedings lift off with Oneida's moiré patterned "Shahin's Bong." Mugstar set chase with their own odyssean endeavor, "European Nihilism," the Aurora Borealis viewed from within. With the hum and drone of layered synths drawing the listener in, these psychedelic warlords hit you hard with a super-colossal Hawkwind-esque rock-out like a centrifugal force that twists and turns, morphing on a continual humming of valves into the artifice of repetitive noise, until at saturation point, the asymptotic curve annihilates you in the quest for the perfect ion.
