"Studio Rockers was born when Tony Thorpe aka The Moody Boyz decided to combine his extensive knowledge of dub with his uncanny ability for unearthing the freshest musical talent. Best known for his pioneering dub productions, he also spent many years as an A&R consultant at Wall Of Sound, curated Massive Attack's Meltdown Festival and has a string of high profile remixes to his name from the likes of Amy Winehouse, Erykah Badu and Lee Scratch Perry. "Following on from the monstrous rib-shaking beast from Czech Republic's very own ANS, another future dub creator makes for his debut 12" on Studio Rockers! London-based frequency tweaker Bionics steps up to the table with three bass-bin quaking excursions. First up, 'Dubcore' busts out the speakers, commanding mind and body from the off, robot vocals get warped and meddled into the mix as twisted synthesizers are pushed to the limits. "Picking up where the electronically soaked Bionics EP left off, the genre meddling future dub imprint Studio Rockers busts through the speakers with another fine selection of bass drenched compositions! For our next musical outing we've packed up the bags and headed stateside (San Francisco to be precise) enlisting the services of frequency welder Eskmo. No stranger to the inner workings of a mixing desk, Eskmo has been crafting individually stamped music for many a year as a sound engineer. Taking the lead on this 12" first up we have 'Willow Grail,' laced up with scattering snares, haunting vocals and rib tickling low end bass making for an infectious journey into the sound, blurring the worlds of techno and dub with ease. Next up 'Process' comes forth, driving kicks do battle whilst flutes as percussion rides over head and that's all before the growling bass raises its head. Toasting off the EP, slinging the vibes down, Eskmo unleashes 'Trudge' combining warming bass tones, acid stabs married with off kittle percussion and glitchy edits. Eskmo is Brendan Angelides, a producer and live performer who has been writing and performing music since 1999. He uses the alias Welder for his more chilled down tempo work. His live sets which are based around Ableton Live utilizing various midi controllers and FX running with on the spot warping, queueing and live key work have taken him across venues on both sides of the Atlantic."

"Clipping at the heels of the genre meddling Eskmo EP, here at Studio Rockers we unleash yet another show stopping 12" release! We've had our traveling cap on once again, this time taking us south side to Southampton to enlist the musical services of Caper. First up, taking the forefront, a track already creating hype: 'Hybrid,' a sonic work laced with syncopated snares that snap intermittently between winding subterranean bass-loops - a force not to be ignored! On the flip, we are treated to the deeper routed frequencies of 'Friction,' an aural tour down the earthy vestries of dub. Conflating minimalist back-rhythms with jazz elements, Caper has no qualms with constructing a multifaceted sonic backdrop complete with trumpets that chime poignantly in the foreground. Caper is 24-year-old Joe Lambert, a dubstep producer based in Southampton."

"Hailing from Brixton, Cotti is an established DJ, MC & producer and is fast becoming one of dubstep's new breed of rising stars. With an already enviable repertoire of releases to his name including Sensi Dub, Legacy & I Don't Give A Dub, 2009 sees him release his debut 12" for Studio Rockers entitled 'Warrior Charge.' For this track, Cotti teams up with well respected reggae dancehall artist 2Nice who has worked alongside the likes of Ricky Ranking & Horseman as well as such producers as Curtis Lynch, Seani B and Mafia & Fluxy. 'Warrior Charge' sees Cotti conjur up another hook-laden anthem. The track kicks off with haunting strings rising over piano stabs & deep subs that combine subtly to draw you in. Stuttering hi-hats then ghost their way into the mix beneath the soaring reggae vocal before the sound flips with heavy synth stabs that signal the 'Warrior Charge' for 2Nice to take his flow in a fresh direction. "Born in Winchester and now based in Leeds, Ben 'Hackman' epitomizes all that is fresh and exciting about the dubstep scene in 2009. First up is 'Loophole'-- a slice of futuristically industrial music. Melodically unsettling synth stabs set the tone early, whilst snippets of a seductive pitch-shifting vocal teamed with atmospheric pads lead us further into the mix. A frenetic bass-line breaks the tension as the track takes hold and leads us into darker territories. Simultaneously unnerving and undeniably catchy 'Loophole' refuses to conform to our already formulaic preconceptions of this genre yet remains infinitely more rewarding as a result. Next 'Illusionz' delves into Hackman's more melodic side and truly demonstrates his versatility as a producer. A deep Balearic piano riff takes us beyond the boundaries of dubstep and it's not before the bass-line wobbles its way through the speakers that we begin to find ourselves back on familiar ground. A dense percussive tapestry is woven into the mix before that hypnotic riff takes off once again and invites us to forget everything and embark upon a journey to new sonic territories. 'Nocturne' arrives in stark contrast to its predecessor and seems designed to cause havoc on any dance-floor it finds. An eerily atmospheric intro lulls us into a false sense of security whilst dark synth stabs seem almost to hint at what is to follow. "Following on from our tenth single and the recent release of the Studio Rockers @ The Controls EP & LP, we felt it was time to bring the label full circle. With every release to date featuring a different artist, this time we are proud to bring you the second single from the artist who started it all! Hailing from the Czech Republic, Ans was spotted by Tony Thorpe (The Moody Boyz) while dj'ing in Prague and went on to release the first single on Studio Rockers. This time around he's back to become the first artist to earn a second release. First up is `Everyday Bullshit', a deep, dark & brooding number that sets the tone for the EP perfectly. On the flip is `Always Sharp', a track that kicks off with fidgety laser beam synths, cheeky little stabs and a warped sub bass. It's creepy and melancholic melody sits perfectly with a killer vocal and a healthy injection of dub style for all the family. "The incomparable Nuphlo, also known as Mannie Sandhu, is both a producer and DJ based in Leeds. Beginning his career DJing at the turn of the millennium merely whetted his appetite for production - due to a desire to play exclusive tunes in his sets. On '40 Thieves,' you are instantly situated in a pulsating realm of vibrant exoticism. One which luminously evokes vivid, potent images of flying carpets, gold souks (and perhaps even Princess Jasmine herself on a rampageous night out) in the psyche of the listener. The juxtaposition between the floating, haunting chromatic melody and deftly invigorating rapid bassline all serve to further heighten interest in this unusually encapsulating musical ambit. "First up on this EP sampler for the At The Controls CD is 'Playtime's Over' by Decyfer. Decyfer is Jordan Partridge, a fledgling dubstep producer from Chester. This will be his first release on a label but judging by the quality and depth of his sound it definitely won't be his last. 'Playtime's Over' kicks off with a melody that's reminiscent of the haunting strains of a music box in a b-movie horror flick. The sample then comes along and the track drops with a dark rolling bassline and some nasty synth stabs. As the track gains momentum the synths strain even harder and create a deliciously twisted dubstep soundscape. Sure to be a hit in the clubs, this is a serious track from a producer who is supposedly still honing his craft -- watch out dubstep! On the flipside is a massive track from an artist called Surje who co-produced the track 'Nocturne' with Hackman. At just 20 years old, Surje has a massive future ahead of him. Having debuted on Hackman's 12", he now shows what he's all about with his debut solo release on Studio Rockers. And what a tune to debut with! 'Juxta' is an absolute monster of a record and has been doing some serious damage on dubplate for a few months now. It opens with a massive synth line that builds to a devastating crescendo- invasion, ha ha ha!! The pressure doesn't stop there as the track is littered with clever hooks and nasty little stabs that keep the ear entertained long after the first listen. If you're into dubstep then this is one 12" you will not regret buying."
