Sunset Diskos presents the debut album from the Bulgur Brothers, the tech-house boy-band from Sweden, consisting of Mikael Stavöstrand, Andreas Tilliander and Johan Skugge. All are well known figures in the Swedish minimal scene with tons of solo releases on labels such as Mille Plateaux, Force Inc, Resopal, Karat, Source, Mo's Ferry, Contexterrior and many more. After a successful EP on the French label Karat, the brothers present Smoothie Man. This album is a crunchy collection of tracks ranging from funky club hits to deep explorational epics. The sound of Bulgur Brothers is truly unique in the techno-house scene of today where they push the tracks to the limit, mixing styles and sounds wildly to create this special music. On the album there are also featured vocals from Big Bully from L.A. So far, Bulgur Brothers have been described as techno's version of the The Grateful Dead, which is not as strange as it might sound. The track on CD2 "I Want To Live Forever" was recorded live at 103 Club in Berlin May 2006, which is included as a free bonus CD to present their special live sound.

For this one, Bulgur Brothers asked four of their favorite artists to remix tracks from the Smoothie Man album. Krikor brings out the funk with his "Jane&Kate" mix -- so smooth and funky it is impossible not to shake that ass. Next, Franco Cinelli brings his take on freaky minimalism while Metrika breaks down the shoe-gaze nature of the title track to deliver a club stomper. Finally, Dapayk goes down slow and mechanical on his "Raisin Fever" mix -- building so slowly until it delivers what we all aim for -- pure ecstasy.

Jens Lodén released a couple of records as Reunion for Dialog Recordings, and now we have two stunning examples of straight-backed minimal funk, presented under the guise of tech-house. On the flip there is a bomb remix by Mikael Stavöstrand, here as Stavöstrano, which takes the original to the deep limit. Playing around with the funky grooves of the original, the track crawls back and forth, building and building. This one tears down the roof.

With Kamakura, Jean-Patrice Rémillard aka Pheek goes beyond the borders of bouncy, carefully shaping and twisting four tracks into rubbery minimal masterpieces. Each track ricochets back and forth, twisting the sounds to the max, but always with that rubbery groove. Pheek runs the Archipel and Kalimari labels, and has released records on M_nus, Telegraph and Contexterrior, and has appeared on mix CDs from Sven Väth and Matthew Dear.

Sunset Diskos is back with another killer EP from Agaric, this time with a remix by no less than Camea. "Come Below" is a sneaky funk bomb, slowly building and building with a deep and punchy groove. "No One Knows" is like a rattlesnake on acid, twisting and twisting, with a massive and poisonous groove building up and up. Camea takes the track to more spooky territories, perfect for massive sound systems.
