TART 001CD
This is the debut full-length release by Hamburg-based
Wareika
, which consists of members
Jakob Seidensticker
,
Florian Schirmacher
, and
Henrik Raabe
. Starting with EPs for well-known quality labels such as Eskimo Recordings, Future Classic, liebe*detail, Motivbank and Connaisseur, and providing something special for compilations like
Satoshi Tomiie
's famous
Renaissance
, Wareika's work has inspired people around the world. "Ascending/Descending" is a trip into a world of 7/8 rhythms, nevertheless keeping your feet moving, and with the way-down-to-Africa 5/4 groove caravan "Baracuda," a fish is able to swim in the sand. Throughout the album, Wareika create a powerful formation back-to-back as a band, constantly developing their musical approach -- so they picked up some field recordings, or solo piano interludes, and even made some special album versions. "Men Village" appears here in a live version, "One Nation" is featured in a special album version, and of course, the rare 10-minute jazztastic improvisation on "Riders On The Storm" gives this album the intimate feeling of having an eclectic ensemble playing for you -- be it in your living room, or on a festival stage -- like the smasher "Burnin'" implies. Programmed electronics, human voices and the feeling of touching instruments with your ears mingle in a groove that will make you wanna dance in a circle around a campfire. There is a dubby warmth and friendliness to this record, along with a naturalistic bent that curls tendrils of flora around a minimalistic, percussive, tribal stem.

TART 005EP
"After some fun, some noisy and some straight club releases, Tartelet goes deep with its new 'galaxy' edition. Galaxy is the name of a line of more deep and experimental releases with inspiration from jazz, Detroit and minimal house. Expect special love from acts like Wareika, Brandt Braur Frick, Tahloula, Dave Aju and Chris Lattner. First edition release is done by Hamburg act: Wareika. It's a collaboration of Henrik Raabe and Jakob Seidensticker, both specialists in dub techniques (Voidcom/Ministry of Sound, Jubilee Rec., Ostwind Rec, Lebensfreude Rec.), and jack-of-all-trades Florian Schirmacher (Philpot, Cadenza, Perlon, Poker Flat). Enjoying their favorite records together, they realized a musical cooperation, which in fact has what it takes to remain in everlasting remembrance. As new Tartelet artists, Wareika features a unique blend of dub, percussion and Afro beat music. The three 'Wareikians,' each of them well trained and experienced musicians, show in their works a crystallization of their musical aspirations. On the A-side is 'Ascending/Descending' where Wareika comes up with more than 10 minutes of Afro-related drums and percussions, accompanied by warm analog-synth raster scanning and highlights, served on a floating and transcendent but simple beat, that carries ones body into a spiritual travel. The B-side 'Baracuda' takes you down by an acoustic deep house bumpy road. Almost 10 minutes of spiritual and yet very effectual grooves for the floor. This ain't no formulaic computer music, these brothers got soul!"

TART 006EP
"Kenton Slash Demon is best known in Scandinavia as a part of the amazing indie-disco band When Saints Go Machine (remixed by dOP and played by DJ Koze in his last RA podcast). However, Tartelet Records just signed the two guys to let them wear their electronic outfit. Their common musical history goes ten years back even though they are all in their early twenties, and even if they are not too known within the international club scene they have already enjoyed acknowledgement from many sides. Fredski, Tomboy and the rest of the Tartelet crew are looking forward to presenting Kenton Slash Demon which might just become one of Tartelet's big ones. Tart 6(66) is a real EP for the demons. All effective club tracks. A: 'KhaNabi': Big big big stumbling grooves matched up with a mean bass line and explosive kick, all mixed up with a very intense zitar that takes the track through massive peaks. This track will blow the dance floor at peak hour. No chance you will be disappointed. 'KhaNabi' will stir the floor like a hot pot."

TART 007EP
"Tartelet Records welcomes yet another new members in the family. This time it's Brandt Brauer Frick, which is a group joined by Daniel Brandt, Jan Brauer and Paul Frick. The first two names have been collaborating for years under the name 'Scott,' producing club music with a jazz attitude (EPs on My Best Friend, Fluid Ounce, The Gym and more). Paul Frick has studied classical and modern composition with Friedrich Goldmann. Brandt Brauer Frick make their love for contemporary classical music and deep club music melt into a highly original and powerful stream of sound. With vibraphone, prepared piano, drums, various percussion, fender Rhodes, bass guitar and analogue synthesizers the trio creates textures that brings to mind Steve Reich as well as house music and the old-school loop techno. Experimental meets deepness, complexity meets minimalism. The generation of the sound is mostly acoustic -- even the bass drum. Brandt Brauer Frick succeeds in a thrilling synthesis of club and concert hall."

TART 008EP
"This is the first split-12" on Tartelet, and marks an important point in the peacemaking process between Denmark and Northern Germany, since the war in 1864. Wareika, from Hamburg on the A side, are one of Germany's most promising acts and Tomas Barfod & Fredski, from Copenhagen on the B side are first of all founders of Tartelet Records, secondly known from party-techno releases on Get Physical and Tartelet itself. This is the 3rd Tartelet Galaxy Edition release, which means that it embraces more experimental and deep sounds than the non-Galaxy output from Tartelet. 'Work Out 1# - Mountain Ride': As the other German Tartelet artist Brand Brauer Frick, Wareika are known for their very organic approach to making deep techno and electronica. They have been releasing on some of Germanys strongest house and techno labels like Connaisseur, MotivBank and Liebe/Detail. Wareika has a warm, almost free jazz-like sound with just as clear references to Sun Ra and Weather Report as Kraftwerk. 'Mountain Ride' is best described as an epic, dancy, live country mixup with a whole bunch of klezmer sounds. The whole track is played live by the three Wareikans; Florian does the vocals and plays the bass, Henrik is on strings and Jakob works the electronic elements live into the track as they play. 'Work Out 2# - Restless Swing': Tomas and Frederik revealed their passion for avant garde, world and jazz on their two Get Physical release during the summer. On 'Restless Swing' they take it even futher, with a live palette of piano drums and saxophones. Expect 'house-chops' meets 'band jam session'."

TART 010EP
This is the second release from
James Braun
on Tartelet. "Symphonia" is a combination of solid house, great production, and experimental sounds. With a Detroit-ish string theme and bass-driven grooves, the original is fun, intriguing yet powerful.
Claude VonStroke
's remix features many of the original elements but in an updated, very danceable version.
Tomas Barfod
shows his darker sides on his remix, taking "Symphonia" into the late-night with string pads, dirty drums, space-y synths and deep bass.

The German acoustic techno trio
Brandt Brauer Frick
presents their second EP on Tartelet Records. "Piano Shakur" follows a rough and jazzy approach, featuring a minimalistic piano motif accompanied by sloppy drums, vibraphone and a heavy bass. "Bop" is an epic, polyrhythmic monster that goes beyond all description. Check out the video --

Kenton Slash Demon
's sound is both organic and futuristic, and they take their productions further than the typical dramaturgy of a club track. Still 4/4 rhythmic, but with super-melodic bass lines and interesting breaks, "Sun" is the first release in a KSD trilogy on Tartelet called
The Schwarzschild Solution Part I
, inspired by the elements that form our galaxy. This 12" features a remix from
Alan Abrahams

Tartelet is ready to dispel once and for all the myth of bad luck associated with the number 13.
Tahloula
's "We Play House" appears in a remix incarnation by
Chris Lattner
.
Emil & Chesper
's "The Nigerian Hustle" is dark and funky with rolling bass lines and shadowy percussion -- heavily rooted in both Berlin's minimalism and Detroit's grooviness. Finally,
James Braun & Ubebe
's "Neotony" is a percussion-oriented tech-house track reminiscent of Chicago, where banging toms and vintage 808s meet floating strings.

This is the second EP from
Kenton Slash Demon
's
The Schwarzschild Solution
trilogy and features a remix from much-hyped
Runaways
. "Matter" is a deeply natural constellation of disco and house, sprinkled with emotionally-charged lyrics and a hint of that special Tartelet strangeness. Looping and cutting clips of synth-stabs and murmuring voices solidify the beat while the groove shapes the modulating melody.
Malthe Fischer
adds his mystic vocals for a shatter-storm of touching chord-changes that drags people restlessly to the dancefloor.

James Braun
is back with three new dancefloor monuments for you to worship. On "Massacre," JB succeeds in creating a horror universe that can make even the most hardened Detroit fan become insecure and frightened when standing alone on the Berghain dancefloor. "Retrace Your Steps" is a musical odyssey back through time and "Slapper" is musical meditation that yields unbridled joy and chilled-out bliss while benign, chubby gods of music laugh heartily and scratch their white beards.

"Steady Muffin" features piano licks, lush, organic percussion and all-out good-time party vibrations. This track embraces the Balearic summer.

Mikkel Metal
's Tartelet EP travels deep into the spectral voids of space. Empyrean pads and raw drums reverberate on "Cassini" -- soft kicks with shrill claps and a prodding bassline bringing back memories of Mikkel Metal's earlier dubby excursions. "Mazurski" is a galaxy of beaming details and radiant synth lines. Following on the same side is the dub version (vinyl-only), outlined by a scrapping kick, filtering sequences of sonic waveforms and abraded sub-basslines. These cuts will transport you beyond.
