Title: To The Rescue
Label: TEMPA (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $10.00
Catalog #: TEMPA 003CD
Horsepower Productions' second full-length album, originally released in 2004 on the Tempa label. To The Rescue sees the crew expand their grime/UK garage/dubstep palate for an eclectic, insouciant, dub/two-step glitch journey. These tracks defy generic dance stereotypes, with plenty of random samples, shadowy vocal snippets, horns, crickets, looped guitar, and of course, deep, menacing sub-bass to act as mortar to the diverse elements. This record, in addition to their debut was and continues to be a huge influence on dubstep producers such as Skream, Benga, Digital Mystikz, Kode 9 and countless others. Get your hands on a classic and understand the deepest roots of dubstep, garage and beyond. Includes a remix by TGS.

He has been a resident at Forward>> (dubstep's founding club night) since its inception, and has hosted the Forward>> show on London's Rinse FM. 28 tracks from the likes of Pressure, Warrior Queen, Geeneus, Digital Mystikz, Skream, D1, Calenda, Loefah, DJ Krave, N-Type, Plasticman, Benga, Random Trio, Cyrus, Blackdown, Geiom and Burial.

Artist: DJ HATCHA/DJ YOUNGSTA
Title: Dubstep Allstars Vol. 04
Label: TEMPA (UK)
Format: 2CD
Price: $21.00
Catalog #: TEMPA 006CD
2011 repress, originally released in 2006; this is the fourth volume in Tempa's Dubstep Allstars series, mixed by DJ Hatcha and DJ Youngsta. Dubstep Allstars Vol. 04 presents a clash between two of the most influential dubstep DJs. Taking one CD each, these dubplate masters present the finest in upfront beats. From Skream to Digital Mystikz, Loefah to D1, these are the freshest sounds to come out of the London dubstep scene in 2006. Croydon-based Hatcha began DJing back while it was all UK garage and witnessed the birth of dubstep circa 2000. But it was as Forward>> resident in around 2003 that he personally changed the course of the dubstep sound, ushering in a new era with his exclusive dubplate selection. Also a Forward>> resident, Youngsta's sound really coalesced early in 2005, when his ultra-dark, skunked out "halfstep" dubstep defied dancefloor expectations and smothered headz in dread bass. His pinpoint sharp mixing and visionary selection marked him out as a master DJ. Together, Hatcha and Youngsta are a formidable force and Dubstep Allstars Vol. 04 sees them in heavyweight form, from dub skankers to bass wobblers, dark halfsteppers to percussive rump shakers, bass is in the space. Other artists include: Mala, Headhunter, Hijak, Kromestar, Benga, Coki, Walsh and Distance.

Title: The Roots of Dubstep
Label: TEMPA (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: TEMPA 007CD
Originally released in 2006. After six years of underground incubation, 2006 was the year dubstep blew up, taking this fresh south London sound and exploding it worldwide. Elevated by anthems such as Skream's "Midnight Request Line" and Digital Mystikz' "Neverland," the scene has witnessed high profile showcases on Radio 1 and rammed club nights like DMZ and Forward>>. The explosion of interest in the sound left many stunned new fans asking "where did dubstep come from?" The first compilation of its kind, The Roots Of Dubstep is the only compilation to definitively document the early years of dubstep. Lost white labels and overlooked gems, dusty dubplates and unreleased underground classics have been tracked down and put together into the definitive early dubstep document. The album captures all the founders of the dubstep scene at their creative peaks, from El-B to Zed Bias, Steve Gurley to Horsepower Productions, Skream, Benga, Artwork and more. It features two unreleased anthems, the original mix of El-B featuring MC Juiceman's "Buck & Bury," and Benga's "Star Wars," familiar to fans as both dubstep pioneer DJ Hatcha's signature tune and the dubplate no one thought would ever see the light of day. The compilation was co-A&R'ed by Ammunition Promotions (the organization who gave birth to the very name dubstep, promoters of the scene's original night Forward>>, and owners of the deeper-than-deep Tempa label) and journalist/producer Blackdown aka Martin Clark. Other artists include: Roxy, Phuturistix, Benny Ill, High Plains Drifter, Goldspot Productions, Menta and DJ Abstract.

Artist: SKREAM
Title: Skream!
Label: TEMPA (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: TEMPA 008CD
2011 repress, now in jewel case. This is the debut album from Skream, Croydon's musical wonderkid. At 15 he discovered making music, and 5 years after, he helped to change the course of UK urban music, building the foundations of dubstep, the UK's most talked-about musical genre. Skream's clipped, techy minimal style has quickly become his trademark. Long before grime existed, it reflected dark, murky streets and sinister nights, the sound of decaying London and its frustrated communities, stuck out in satellite towns and sink estates with nothing but a PC and freely-available software to channel their frustration into. His signature tune, the scene's anthem "Midnight Request Line" is an explosion of electro arpeggios and dub sub-bass. It's a tune you can sing along to. From the opening haunting strings of "Tortured Soul," which calls to mind the work of Philip Glass or Aphex Twin, to the more optimistic chords and guitar of "Dutch Flowerz," to the heavy vocal cuts featuring Warrior Queen and JME, and the heavy digi-sounds of "Auto-Dub," it's clear that this is a sonic visionary at work.

Artist: BENNY ILL VS. DJ HATCHA
Title: Special 4 Track EP
Label: TEMPA (UK)
Format: 12"
Price: $11.00
Catalog #: TEMPA 008EP
Originally released in 2003, and the earliest available Tempa 12" release at this point. Tempa have firmly established themselves as one of the leading dubstep labels, pushing the sound to a much wider audience than most garage labels, and gaining the support of DJs as diverse as Ross Allen, Andrew Weatherall, Norman Jay and Zed Bias. Big Apple/Forward's infamous DJ Hatcha meets Horsepower Productions henchman Benny Ill in a 4-track head-to-head.

Artist: N-TYPE
Title: Dubstep Allstars Vol. 05
Label: TEMPA (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $10.00
Catalog #: TEMPA 009CD
Originally released in 2007, this is the fifth volume in Tempa's Dubstep Allstars series, mixed by N-Type. From the compilation series that brought the scene its very name, Tempa presents the freshest snapshot of exactly what's happening in dubstep right now. This time, FWD>> resident, Rinse FM chatterbox and worldwide dancefloor destroyer N-Type has been drafted in to carry the torch for the fifth leg of the series which is widely recognized as the "must-have" dubstep compilation series. Combining hyperactive, rapid-fire mixing with searing white-hot, off-the-press-selection, N-Type's DJing embodies over almost a decade of dedicated bedroom-based service to the urban trinity of jungle, hip-hop and garage. Taking his cues from the likes of the legendary EZ, and mixing with the speed of Jeff Mills, N-Type relishes every opportunity to show off the dancefloor potential of the dubstep sound. Bangers from leading lights of dubstep including Coki, Skream and Benga sit alongside devastating sonics from a handful of the lesser-known dubplate souljahs that are tirelessly forging their place in sub-bass history. Other artists include: Hatcha, L.D., Clouds, Kromestar, Landslide vs. Slaughter Mob, Fat Freddy's Drop, Mala, Headhunter, D1, Caspa, Loefah, Magnetic Man, Distance, Richie Spice, Pinch, JuJu, Tes La Rok, Matty G, Walsh, Hijak, The Others and Rusko.

Label: TEMPA (UK)
Format: 12"
Price: $11.00
Catalog #: TEMPA 009EP
2003 release, repressed. The first volume in the Tempa Allstars series. Artist: BENGA
Title: Diary of an Afro Warrior
Label: TEMPA (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: TEMPA 010CD
This is the second full-length release by the UK's Benga. One of the original dubstep pioneers, Benga's Diary of an Afro Warrior is one of the most highly-anticipated albums of the year. If Burial's Untrue dominated 2007's end-of-year critics charts, then it's odds on Diary of an Afro Warrior will do the same in 2008. Dubstep's trickle into the mainstream has been steady; Skream and Burial alike have nudged the door open. Benga is undoubtedly the force to smash it through and take dubstep to another level. "Night," the anthemic underground smash track lifted from the album has literally had ravers from countless club scenes, DJs and grandparents whistling and humming its infectious melody for months now. In addition to becoming the first dubstep record to be playlisted on BBC Radio 1, Night represented Benga's tipping point for many DJs and music lovers across the globe, including Gilles Peterson, Ricardo Villalobos, Pete Tong, Zane Lowe, Annie Mac, Herve, Shy FX and many others, regardless of genre. So we know how well "Night" has been received, can we say the same of the album? Once the journey begins, it is clear what all the fuss is about, neither relying on incessant wobbling bass lines to grab attention nor sailing toward the "coffee table" banner, Benga has managed to create an album with duality. For times when your ear is keen and your speakers are of the Bang & Olufsen ilk, the intelligence and quality of production shines through. The superb dance-ability, grooves and emotions remain present on even the tinniest of speakers. Herein lies Benga's massive crossover appeal. Much more than just a straight dubstep album, the tracks on Diary... have been favorably compared to such names as Carl Craig, Underground Resistance, Reprazent and Massive Attack. Vinyl version contains significantly different track line-up, with five tracks not found on the CD.

Artist: APPLEBLIM
Title: Dubstep Allstars Vol. 06
Label: TEMPA (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: TEMPA 011CD
This is volume 6 of Tempa's Dubstep Allstars series, previously featuring mixes curated by DJ Hatcha, DJ Youngsta, Kode9 and N-Type. The sixth volume is curated and mixed by Bristol-based producer/DJ, Laurie "Appleblim" Osborne. Alongside Skull Disco partner Shackleton, Appleblim has forged a sound of his own in both his production and DJ sets affording him interest from Ricardo Villalobos, Radio Slave and Kode9. Herein you'll find music reminiscent of Basic Channel and Renegade Soundwave, as Osborne's selection moves from devastating low-end to knee-bending groove. With his taste falling somewhere between dub and techno, Tempa made the decision to draft in the acutely talented Appleblim in order to showcase another dubstep don, after the dancefloor immediacy of Vol. 05. As with each installment of the Allstars series, the DJ has full control of the selection and as a recognized ambassador of Bristol's musical talent, it's no surprise that Bristolian producers including Pinch, Peverelist and Komonazmuk make up the majority of this CD. The rest of the CD is comprised of tracks from the latest, newest and finest of the dub scene and beyond: 2562, Martyn, Jus Wan, TRG & Selector Dub U, Skream, RSD, Mungo's Hi Fi, Gatekeeper and Geiom. Dubstep Allstars is the critically-acclaimed series from Tempa -- the pivotal British label which is rapidly finding its way into the hearts of an increasing number of music lovers around the globe via their ceaseless commitment to pushing new music. Voted "CD Of The Year" in 2007's Dubstep Forum Awards as well as receiving critical acclaim in Observer Music Monthly, DJ and Mixmag, the Allstars series is one of the reasons the Tempa imprint is so revered the world over.

Artist: DJ HATCHA
Title: Dub Express
Label: TEMPA (UK)
Format: 12"
Price: $11.00
Catalog #: TEMPA 011EP
2003 release, and earliest available Tempa release at this point. Following on from the success of the Highland Spring EP and his mixed Dubstep All Stars 1 compilation, DJ Hatcha's name is synonymous with the dubstep sound. Here again, he's like Croydon's answer to Moodymann on dub.

Artist: EL-B
Title: The Roots Of El-B
Label: TEMPA (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $10.00
Catalog #: TEMPA 012CD
Tempa presents The Roots Of El-B -- UK garage/dubstep pioneer El-B's first retrospective that pulls together all the ultra-rare white labels, lost remixes and dusty DAT tapes, to preserve for posterity the output of this transient but seminal moment. During 2000-2002, a brief but influential window opened in urban music. Drum & bass moved out of its London heartland and UK garage imploded under the weight of commercial expectation. Between these forces, one man, Lewis Beadle aka El-B, assembled a production crew in Streatham, south London. The roots of dubstep were planted in a shed at the end of a winding garden path. Paid for by the funds of a failed album deal and built by hand by the crew themselves, the shed contained Ghost studios, where during the night hours, El-B and the camp built a sound all of their own. Edgier than UK garage, but sexier than the cold onslaught drum & bass was moving into, the Ghost sound was unique. At its core were El-B's incredible talents as a producer. Having rolled on the edge of the metalheadz camp as a teenager, never getting a let in, he gained fame in UK garage as one-half of legendary UK garage outfit, Groove Chronicles. Out of the ashes of this partnership grew El- B's signature sound of sharp woodblock snares, ghostly edgy textures, dark bass combined with a little black secret technology: the dark art of swing. Even at that time, the effect of this sound was self evident, as producer after local producer, from Skream to Kode9 and later Burial, became influenced by it. "The thing about those drums: they're still the future," Burial insisted before his first album. "People still don't know how to do those drums. It's an unknown thing. It's like the last fucking secret left in music: how you do those drums. I've tried..." Eight years later, as dubstep blossoms into an international phenomenon, the El-B sound remains peerless. It's perhaps fitting now that, for the first time, El-B's seminal work is lifted from treasured record collections and lost vaults. These are the roots of El-B: they run deep. Featuring contributions by Simba, Juiceman, and Rolla and remixes of Zed Bias and Brasstooth.

Title: Tempa Allstars Vol. 2
Label: TEMPA (UK)
Format: 2x12"
Price: $18.00
Catalog #: TEMPA 012EP
2012 repress, Tempa doublepack classic, re-issued due to popular demand -- originally released at a critical evolutionary point, December 2004. The track listing tells you as much, with pioneering heads Geeneus and El-B on the A/B, preceding now-rulers Kode9 (featuring Daddy Gee), Digital Mystikz, D1 and Loefah, who fill the remaining sides. All the tracks are heaters, especially D1's infamous "Crack Bong" (later remixed by Loefah and smashed on Dubstep Allstars Vol. 02), the Mystikz' "Give Jah Glory" and Loefah's early monster "Truly Dread," a clear sign of things to come for the man. The tracks literally get darker with every side, and listening with hindsight you can arguably hear dubstep turn a corner and come fully into its own right here. An essential document and now-classic release, back on the table.

Artist: HEADHUNTER
Title: Nomad
Label: TEMPA (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $10.00
Catalog #: TEMPA 014CD
This is the debut full-length release from Bristol, UK-based dubstep producer, Headhunter. This is also the first time a collection of Headhunter music can be found anywhere on CD. Nomad is a heavily techno-influenced bass-driven album, further pushing open the dubstep envelope and giving the album mass appeal to fans of dubstep, techno and electronic music in general. It was titled Nomad as each track was recorded in a different location across Europe and North America. One of dubstep's most revered producer/DJs, Headhunter is thought of as a prominent rising star in the scene and as such is a regularly headlining DJ at venues including Ministry of Sound, The End (London) and Cornerstone dubstep nights and Subloaded. He has played with Maurizio from Basic Channel, Gilles Peterson, and revered turntablist Z-Trip, has recorded for labels including Planet Mu and Tectonic, and is about to start his third tour of the United States. Headhunter is Tempa's newest album artist joining Benga and Skream in a line of artists that have achieved worldwide acclaim for their releases on the most respected label in dubstep. Textured, fleet-footed dub that is meant for dancing, not brooding.

Artist: SKREAM
Title: Midnight Request Line
Label: TEMPA (UK)
Format: 12"
Price: $11.00
Catalog #: TEMPA 014EP
2011 repress, originally released in 2005. The shot-heard-round-the-world banger that was killing the game for a hot minute even before it hit 12". This one might just go down in the history books as the one that cracked the whole game wide open, international-style -- it's been talked about in Vice, De:Bug, and on just about every music blog you can think of. Possibly the final link in the chain connecting grime and dubstep, as evidenced by the likewise talked-about freestyles Dizzee dropped over the A-side on RinseFM. About as good a starting point for dubstep as the interested but uninitiated could hope for, total future classic now.

Artist: CHEF & RAMADANMAN
Title: Dubstep Allstars Vol. 07
Label: TEMPA (UK)
Format: 2CD
Price: $21.00
Catalog #: TEMPA 015CD
This is volume 7 of Tempa's original and essential Dubstep Allstars series, previously featuring mixes curated by DJ Hatcha, DJ Youngsta, Kode9, N-Type, and Appleblim. Discovery, not familiarity, has been the key to the success of this series, and this philosophy continues as Chef and Ramadanman take the reigns on this double disc expedition which unearths newfound pleasures aplenty. Chef, much lauded for his main room DJ sets, employs a more show-and-tell technique for this mix. Released from the obligations of moving a peak-time crowd, Chef affords each riddim good time to be absorbed. Rapid-fire mixes are replaced with subtle mixer effects and 1 bar loops. In some cases, tracks are simply cut out to make way for the next. On paper, this style could be almost nonchalant, but upon listening, you realize nothing has been left to chance. The peak-and-trough workout continues in earnest with Ramadanman on the second disc, which reveals an acute sense of rhythm in both production and mixing. Testing a rookie raver's balance, he throws elastic rhythms into the mix and collides sonics to create multi-textured soundscapes. Consistently demonstrating impeccable taste, Ramadanman draws on a school of artists who, like him, favor a clean, considered sound. He throws in dashes of grime with a handful of assured and abrupt riddims as well as the technoid, ethereal and rave-era influenced production which has allowed him to carve his niche as a DJ. Artists on both mixes include: Dub Mechanics, Chefal and Coki, Doctor, G Double E, Von D, Lady Phe Phe, Skream, Kito, DJ 200F and J Kamata, Cyrus, Mala, Mr. Lager, Alys, Distance, Conquest, Benga, Silkie, Noah D, Cotti, Unknown, Ghost, Christine Vaccine, Kito, LD, Trolley Snatcher, Kutz, D1, Cluekid, Untold and D. Franklin, Peverelist, Blawan, Mickey Pearce, Footsie, Pangaea, Scuba, Shortstuff, Martyn, Headhunter, RSD, James Blake, Quest, Joe, Earl 16, Compound One, and Mount Kimbie.

Title: Degrees
Label: TEMPA (UK)
Format: 12"
Price: $11.00
Catalog #: TEMPA 015EP
Originally released in 2006. Moving over from Soulja for his first release on Tempa, D1 delivers a production sound that seems more mature than his years. Artist: SKREAM
Title: Outside The Box
Label: TEMPA (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $15.50
Catalog #: TEMPA 016CD
Skream's highly-anticipated second album finally arrives. Ollie "Skream" Jones is on a major roll. The Croydon DJ, producer and original dubstepper had the festival anthem of last year with his "Let's Get Ravey" remix of La Roux's "In For The Kill"; he's just been featured on the cover of NME with his Magnetic Man co-stars Benga and Artwork (not to mention the covers of DJ and Mixmag) and as we speak, he is all over Radio 1 with the lead track from Outside The Box. The tune in question, "Listenin' To The Records On My Wall," is the perfect introduction to why Skream's current level of success is just the beginning. It's a joyful, ragingly energetic celebration of the last quarter decade of British street music, inspired by the hardcore and jungle records used by his older brother Hijak. It's also a brilliant pop record that makes perfect sense to everyone who grew up surrounded by the breaks and beats of the 1990s and to those who didn't. This, however, is not a revival record. A natural-born modernist, Skream has selected 14 tracks that cover hip-hop (with one track featuring L.A. rapper Murs from Living Legends), bass-wobbling dubstep, dreamy electronica, a dark and tribal track with La Roux, and a strong dose of euphoric jungle on "The Epic Last Song" -- a track that is inadvisable to listen to while driving, unless you want another six points on your license. Outside The Box is the sound of an artist who is ready to take his considerable talents to a wider audience without compromising any of the raw, hedonistic, emotional, lose-yourself madness that has made him literally legendary to hundreds of thousands of people worldwide. Take "Where You Should Be," a song which features singer and songwriter Sam Frank. There's the 8-bit computer game inspiration of "CPU"; the Daft Punk-styled vocals of "How Real" featuring Freckles; the tuff-but-soothing heartbeat of "Fields Of Emotion" and the Jocelyn Brown-sampling "I Love The Way," which sees the first lady of disco pitched right down -- also heard during Skream's massive festival sets at Pukkelpop, Glastonbury and Roskilde. Towards the end of the album, there are moments that point in a whole new direction, like "Reflections," a tune written with talented drum 'n' bass-heads dBridge and Instra:mental. And then there's "A Song For Lenny," a sad and very personal musical dedication to a lost friend. Album aside, life is busy for Oliver Jones. He's back to DJing, switching up his sets to include 4/4, techno, garage and grime and, most weeks, hosting his Rinse FM show -- now alongside Benga. It's going to a big summer, inside and outside the box.

Last copies, this 2CD version is now deleted.

Title: Quest For The Sonic Bounty
Label: TEMPA (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $15.50
Catalog #: TEMPA 017CD
Horsepower Productions return to Tempa with their third album; a bold and intrepid Quest For The Sonic Bounty. Horsepower Productions are dubstep's foundational producers responsible for the now classic, early scene-defining tracks "Gorgon Sound" and "Classic Deluxe"and for dubstep's first LPs -- the revered In Fine Style (TEMPA 001CD) and To The Rescue (TEMPA 003CD). Quest For The Sonic Bounty is Horsepower's stunning return LP, their first in six years. If you were to unearth the flourishing dubstep tree you'd find Horsepower at its roots. Their debut album was the first LP to be released on Tempa, and it was the press release for In Fine Style back in 2002 that first gave the fledgling genre its name -- and the cover feature in XLR8R (July/Aug '02) that first used the term in print and immortalized the name. Horsepower are the revered, ground-zero catalysts of the sound which is now capturing the imagination of the new rave generation. Originally an 8-strong collective, featuring amongst others Lev Jnr, Nassis, Simon D, The Culprit and Jay King, the current incarnation of Horsepower includes Matt HP aka Lev Jnr, Nassis, and Jay King with the indomitable Benny Ill at the helm. The quest for the elusive sonic bounty begins with tentative steps in the rain and journeys over land and across the seven seas, all the while weaving a rich, musical tapestry. The pulsating, staccato bass line of "Mexican Slayride" and its tale of a band of mercenaries challenging a despotic bandit overlord gives way to the epic voodoo chronicle of "22" -- witch-doctor bones rattling beneath the distant drums in this dramatic tale of the mysteries of the Caribbean. "Water" tells the story of a scorched and war-ravaged Earth, where power over the survivors is held by he who controls the water. The two tracks featured on Horsepower Productions' most recent 12" for Tempa "Kingstep" and "Damn It" make a re-appearance here, having been revamped and extended specifically for this album. The penultimate track is a remix of "Exercising" -- a track from Lee "Scratch" Perry's album The Mighty Upsetter, and it's dubstep at its best: deep, dark and moving. Just wait for those violins! The remix takes us to India, Jamaica and beyond; rising up beyond the clouds of the heavenly mountain, sacred instruments play us along our spiritual journey. The album is wrapped up by the hauntingly beautiful "Poison Wine." For those wanting a pleasant coffee table album, be warned Quest For The Sonic Bounty is a rigorous aural and physical experience. When it's finished with you, you will understand that their unerring quest, carving new tributaries and exploring far-flung lands, is indeed what creates our very own sonic bounty.

Title: Loefah Remixes
Label: TEMPA (UK)
Format: 12"
Price: $11.00
Catalog #: TEMPA 017EP
2009 repress. Originally released in 2006, and the third Skream 12" on Tempa. In a deadly explosion of sub bass, Tempa let off two Loefah bombs. Loefah's remix of "I" slams into a deadly sub in a nu-school Loefah style, all condensed darkness and inferred space. His remix of "Monsoon" was much earlier, when he was first incubating his halfstep ideas, and it takes a full two anticipation-building minutes to drop.

Title: Dubstep Allstars Vol. 08
Label: TEMPA (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $15.50
Catalog #: TEMPA 018CD
Rinse FM's DJ Distance takes on the eighth edition in Tempa's Dubstep Allstars compilation, following on from notable mixes by, among others, Kode9, Appleblim, Ramadanman and Youngsta. If there's one man who can give a snapshot of the core of dubstep as such in 2011, it's Distance. He's been there in the scene from the beginning, from way back when the sound's aficionados could be numbered in the hundreds worldwide. And from then 'til now, his DJ sets, his own productions and his Chestplate label have always stayed true to the deep, heavy and immersive style from which sprung everything else we hear today. What he plays, and what he's put on this CD, is dubstep from the heartlands: the biggest and best dubplates from the people who have made the scene what it is. For this mix, Distance returned to the source. What you get on Dubstep Allstars Vol. 08 is the music that has always formed the backbone of Distance's DJ sets: the artists he's retained solid links to over the years. It's packed with Distance's own productions, and those of his closest associates in the scene Cyrus and Tunnidge, but also with others he's collaborated with over the years. Benga is here with the fearsomely dark "Chemical Compound," a slap across the face for those who think he's all about pop-step or jump-around wobblers nowadays. And Bristol's DJ Pinch appears, teamed up with Distance in their Deleted Scenes guise, demonstrating his continued mastery of exquisite detail in production and showing just why he is still a lynchpin of the scene and still rattling chests some eight years on from his conversion to the sound. Other artists include: Commodo, SP:MC + LX ONE, J:Kenzo, The Others, District, V.I.V.E.K, Kryptic Minds, Benton, Above & Beyond and Truth.

Artist: SILKIE & QUEST
Title: Dubstep Allstars Vol. 09
Label: TEMPA (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $15.50
Catalog #: TEMPA 019CD
The ninth mix in Tempa's legendary Dubstep Allstars series, the series that immortalized the genre's name. Where does dubstep find itself in 2012? It's a question that Tempa's scene-defining Dubstep Allstars mix CD series has always asked, right since the genre's inception and Hatcha's first installment back in 2004. Each volume has returned new answers; capturing its own snapshot of a specific side of the sound. The truth, as the series so far has proved, is that dubstep has always been in a state of flux. And so for Dubstep Allstars: Vol. 09 , Silkie & Quest waste no time in providing yet another fresh set of answers. Their sound is a hybrid vision: as core members of the Antisocial Entertainment collective, they have over the past few years honed a sound as soulful as it is sub-heavy, seeping grime, jazz, funk and electro into the equation. Like many of the series' earlier editions, the duo draw the music on Dubstep Allstars: Vol. 09 from a small pool of close-knit producers who share a similar attitude. As well as their own music, chief among their contributors is Swindle. It's his "If I Was a Superhero" that opens the CD, electrifying the mix to life. From there, the energy swiftly ramps up, passing through Quest's bounding "The Seafront" and Swindle's electro-shocked beast "Belfast" before delving into deeper territory with Quest's slinky "Somewhere." Later, the dread ramps up to staggering intensity with Mala's "Eyez VIP" (a track exclusive to this mix) and the intense pressure of Quest's "Overcome." Throughout, the duo's mixing mirrors the swift responsiveness of their club sets -- sometimes wild and unruly, sometimes softer and more languid. All these threads culminate in the mix's closing 20 minutes in a devastating run of tracks, with Silkie's remixes of Skream and Katy B drawing finally into Quest's rootsy "Stand," completing the circle and harking back to the genre's origins. It's an appropriate note to end on, remaining respectful of the travels of dubstep past, but always with an eye towards the next step. Other artists include: L Wiz and Mizz Beats & Jay Retro.

Catalog #: TEMPA 019EP
2012 repress; third volume in the Tempa Allstars series, originally released in 2006. Tempa present an arsenal of bass-bombs for the dubstep dancefloors, featuring established Tempa artists Skream and D1 alongside producers Headhunter, N-Type and Caspa. Artist: J:KENZO
Title: J:Kenzo
Label: TEMPA (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $15.50
Catalog #: TEMPA 020CD
This is the debut LP from J:Kenzo, producer of recent dubstep hits "The Rotek's" and "Ruffhouse." Eleven tracks featuring dancefloor instrumentals, club-tested to devastating effect by DJs Youngsta, N-Type, Distance and more. Radio plays from Skream and Benga, Mary-Anne Hobbs, and Mistajam. Of his deep, dark and sub-heavy music J:Kenzo states: "It is dubstep like it was when it first came out. Stripped-down beats and bass, quite simply." Opener "Statement of Intent" swells from silence to a thick, rocky groove that rattles speaker cones like an earthquake. It's punishing, but carried along by an implicit sense of funk, each element placed for maximum impact. Throughout the album's length, these traits are repeated -- flickers of electro riffage punctuating "Invaderz" and "Contagion," Rod Azlan's toasting to herald a monstrous drop in "Ruff House." What's striking about J:Kenzo's tracks is how few elements they contain, but how powerfully each is utilized: he reduces dubstep to its very essence, leaving only the barest essentials required to shake a dancefloor to the foundations. Having grown up on soul, reggae, and rare groove before delving deep into jungle, drum and bass and later garage, when he first came across the sound developing at FWD>> and DMZ, something immediately clicked. As he honed his production skills, those wide-ranging musical influences began to express themselves, lending his tracks the open-minded feel that has become his calling card. It was something Rinse FM's Youngsta noticed immediately when Kenzo first sent him the track that would become his 2011 Tempa debut single, "The Roteks." Although still unmistakably dubstep, this album channels a range of other sounds -- dub's woozy skank; twisting conga lines; blistering electro synths; "Reconstruct"'s techno momentum; while grime makes an appearance too, with Newham Generals' MC Footsie on "No Man's Land." "Eyes Wide Open," meanwhile, boldly shows off dubstep's ability to be a uniquely flexible form of pop music. While the majority of the dubstep that hits the charts is shorn of all subtlety, here its half-sung, half-whispered lyrics and gorgeous descending arpeggio turn oceanic halfstep into a deep, meditative vocal track, equally at home in headphones, on late-night radio or cutting through the crowd at FWD>>. And therein lies the root of J:Kenzo's appeal -- remaining tied to dubstep's core values while pushing it along new pathways.

Artist: PLASTICIAN
Title: Dubstep Allstars Vol. 10
Label: TEMPA (UK)
Format: CD
Price: $15.50
Catalog #: TEMPA 021CD
Given that Tempa have now reached the landmark tenth edition in their scene-defining Dubstep Allstars series, it makes perfect sense that they've invited Plastician, one of the genre's pioneers, to contribute. Near the start of last decade Plastician, alongside the likes of Skream, Benga, and Artwork, was among the small group of producers twisting garage into dark and skeletal shapes, creating what would eventually be called dubstep. So it makes sense that, in keeping with his own past, Plastician's Dubstep Allstars Vol. 10 flirts with the rawer and rougher sides of dubstep: synths roar like police sirens, sub-bass scorches everything it touches, and percussion is taut and driven by flurries of conga hits. MCs -- Doctor, Merky Ace, Newham Generals' Footsie -- lend a languid flow to wrenching beats by J:Kenzo and Cato, drawing connections to Plastician's equally strong roots in grime. But there's a defined narrative arc to Dubstep Allstars Vol. 10, too, in the way it blossoms from a brisk and percussive opening section into a roaring and ravey middle, before gradually drifting away into a meditative and melody-soaked final third. It all draws together into a mix that's equal parts dread, aggression and immersion. Other artists include: Nomine, Jaydrop, Vicious Circle, FNC, Commodo, LAXX & Walsh, Kumarachi, Megalodon & Badklaat, Mutated Mindz, Stinkahbell, Dream and Korea.

Released in 2002, highly sought-after, and long unavailable, it is featured here as the flip to Kode9's awesome 2006 remix. Interspersed with the dialogue from the original, Kode9 strips it down on the remix with an ominous one-note bass line and haunting melodica.

Originally released in 2007, and Headhunter's first 12" for Tempa. As a member of Bristol's notorious H.E.N.C.H. crew, he has repped the dubstep sound hard in the Southwest. After blistering sets at FWD>> in London and the H.E.N.C.H club night and Pinch's Subloaded rave in Bristol, this release cemented his reputation as a major talent in dubstep. All three tracks have been mainstays of pioneering dubstep DJ Youngsta's sets on dubplate, and have received plays from Plastician (BBC Radio One) and by N-Type on Rinse FM.

Rounding things off is a refreshing 2-step flavored offering from Martyn, more known for his d&b productions but making waves within dubstep, and a deep dark Youngsta-styled roller from The Others.

Artist: BENGA & COKI
Title: Night
Label: TEMPA (UK)
Format: 12"
Price: $11.00
Catalog #: TEMPA 030EP
2011 repress. Without any question, this was THE dubstep anthem of 2007, possibly even a bigger anthem than Skream's legendary late 2005 "Midnight Request Line." This 12" release heralds the graduation of Benga, from the name in every dubstep DJ's bag to an artist whose acclaim reaches much farther than that of his own genre. "Night" is a joint effort from Benga and one half of DMZ, Coki. When the South London pair got together, they were on a mission to depart from the sound of previous productions and what resulted is a crazily infectious melody. "Drumz West" features Benga's trademark snare, forcing the listener to continuously shift focus between the skank-inducing bass line and the melody of the synths. The final track, "Emotions" showcases Benga's versatility, revealing his affinity with house music. It's perhaps this last track, which will raise most eyebrows outside of dubstep circles.

"Tek-A-Pill" and "Shake-It" showcase a deep, more techno-influenced vibe, while "Nemesis" sees Skream exploring his love of dark, epic soundtrack styles. On "2D," a looped-up arpeggio riff nods towards minimal as much as it does dubstep. Support from Francois K, Modeselektor, N-Type, Hatcha, Laurent Garnier, Gilles Peterson, Scratch Perverts and Digital Mystikz.

Artist: SP:MC
Title: Trust Nobody/Future
Label: TEMPA (UK)

Artist: TRG
Title: Decisions
Label: TEMPA (UK)
Format: 12"
Price: $11.00
Catalog #: TEMPA 036EP
This 12" features three sumptuous tracks by TRG which sidestep booming bass and LFO in favor of lovingly engineered low-end, subtle sweeps and syncopated bleeps and drums. You'll find three ornate progressive techno tunes which keep the ravers moving, and swing that's reminiscent of key tracks which dominated the early, halcyon days of garage sets. These tracks will sit just as well with the dubstep fraternities as it will with those of techno and house. TRG truly blurs the boundaries.

Artist: BENGA
Title: Benga
Label: TEMPA (UK)
Format: 2x12"
Price: $18.00
Catalog #: TEMPA 037EP
From the critically-acclaimed Diary Of An Afro Warrior, comes the hugely-anticipated double pack from Benga. The first plate features three tracks from Diary... which were previously unavailable on wax. "Go Tell Them" drew comparisons between Benga and Kraftwerk, "Loose Synths" is legato, employing lush synths and cantering drums, and "Pleasure" is a continuous roll of emotion. "Benga's Off His Head" has whipped up a frenzy with over 50 forum pages dedicated to this tune alone, and "Better" is a banger.

Artist: D1
Title: D1 V3
Label: TEMPA (UK)
Format: 2x12"
Price: $18.00
Catalog #: TEMPA 039EP
D1 unites funk and dubstep with "Ongie Bongie." The track begins at a cautious speed, picking up pace with a funky propulsion. "Joy" swells progressively, in waves of euphoric chords pieced together with steadily stuttering congas. "Cave" is a deeply hollowed production, heavily sub-led and a regular in Youngsta sets, while "BG" employs infectious, cascading bass-stabs which envelop the accompanying trumpet to create a positively skank-out riddim.

Artist: SKREAM
Title: Skreamizm Vol. 5
Label: TEMPA (UK)
Format: 3x12"
Price: $23.00
Catalog #: TEMPA 040LP
This is the fifth volume in Tempa's Skreamizm series, now bigger than ever, for the first time on 3 discs. Until now, these 6 cuts have been limited to DJ sets from the mighty Skream and his closest spars, causing a frenzy amongst ravers and listeners who have yet been able to take home the productions to listen to at their leisure. Proceedings kick-off with the haunting synth couplets of "Filth," a dread-inducing production with a raging bass line, held captive by a kick on the 1 and 3 which seems like it will give way to the beast at any point. One of the highlights of the Magnetic Man (Skream, Artwork, Benga) live show and a firm favorite with DJs including N-Type and Plastician, "Filth" is the first of three unadulterated bangers. Two more dancefloor destroyers are "Fick" (currently being smashed every set by Sinden) and "Simple City." It's perhaps these that you'll be most familiar with; the chest-plate bruising bass on the 2nd drop of "Fick," metered with an almost fairytale melody, or the ever-mutating bass line drop of "Simple City," which seems to grow in intensity with each snare hit, as if the bass were a horse and the snare Skream's riding whip. Amongst the headtop material, you'll find three more playfully energetic numbers. As an ode to those that were there back in the day, Skream comes with "One For The Heads Who Remember," a track reminiscent of '98/'99 Steve Gurley sets with distinctly Skream chords, offering us an insight to what he may have been producing throughout the garage era, "If You Know" and "Rimz" both expose the house and garage roots of contemporary dubstep and complete the triple pack. With bookings stretching into 2009 including those with his live band Magnetic Man, we can forgive the Stella Sesh Selector for the long pause in releases, for Skreamizm Vol. 5 is an overbearing argument that the best things come to those who wait.

This is the fifth volume in the Tempa Allstars series, where established and usurping talent rub shoulders over two heavyweight 12"s. "Siren" by Seven is the fanfare riddim which DJs including Youngsta and Benga have been using to intro their sets, TRG offers an early-hour dancefloor rub, Pinch gives us light-headed "Motion Sickness," Skream makes you hallucinate purple lasers, Luke.Envoy presents a very Todd Edwards production, and Ramadanman's progressive excursion is built of ghostly stabs and tension.

Artist: HORSEPOWER PRODUCTIONS
Title: Damn It/Kingstep
Label: TEMPA (UK)
Format: 12"
Price: $11.00
Catalog #: TEMPA 042EP
Horsepower Productions is widely credited alongside El-B as the founders of dubstep, and Damn It/Kingstep is a heritage release that raids stylings and samples from dub and desi of the past to bring them to a new generation. "Damn It" is granddaddy dub conceived in 1960 and incubated for today. "Kingstep" is punctuated with syncopated drums and a regal half-step bass pattern. The riddim progresses with the strength which only a warrior that has earned the many stripes of Horsepower could exude.

Artist: BENGA
Title: Buzzin'
Label: TEMPA (UK)
Format: 12"
Price: $11.00
Catalog #: TEMPA 043EP
If Benga's omnipresent "Night" was cheery in demeanor, "Buzzin'" is its deranged and aggressive cousin; equally as infectious, but this time sporting a ragged, unkempt beard. Perfect peak-time rave weaponry already being battered by Skream, Joker, and Plastician. "One Million" is an off-peak roller with a lead bass line reminiscent of Bad Company. Sub-bass stabs topped with brittle drums give the track its industrial exoskeleton, while scurrying glitches and intermittent cymbals provide emotion for the hollow interior of this doom-evoking beast.

Artist: DATA
Title: Doors Of Perception
Label: TEMPA (UK)
Format: 12"
Price: $11.00
Catalog #: TEMPA 044EP
Best-known for his releases under Goldie's Metalheadz imprint, this is Data's first release on Tempa. His sound is more akin to Headhunter and Basic Channel than, say, Benga, and sits more comfortably on your home monitors than it does peak-time on the dancefloor. Moving with the measured pace of experience, "Doors Of Perception" (featuring Cell) is characterized by intermittent sweeps and percussion which add scar tissue to the body of work. "Leaves" references the glory of individuality while remaining grounded.

Artist: SP:MC
Title: Taiko Dub
Label: TEMPA (UK)
Format: 12"
Price: $11.00
Catalog #: TEMPA 045EP
After gaining massive support from dubstep's most discerning and influential selectors Mala, Skream and Youngsta, SP:MC presents Taiko Dub/Bad Dreams. Taiko are a type of hollow Japanese drum, struck with hardwood sticks called bachi, and as a result, the track has a meditative quality, taking the listener to a place of clarity. "Bad Dreams" was crafted alongside Joker D, who submerged the track in multiple layers of bass at varying pitches, seeking out long-forgotten, repressed fears.

Artist: COSMIN TRG
Title: Now You Know
Label: TEMPA (UK)
Format: 2x12"
Price: $18.00
Catalog #: TEMPA 048EP
2012 repress, originally released 2010. This double-pack by TRG shows that the producer now has more in common with branches of house than traditional dubstep. "Twilight Riddim" forces you to jack your body in surrender to the shuffling drum loop. "Diskotek 79" is more soulful, with squelching chords, synth lines and a rousing female chorus, and "Strobe Lick" is a luscious, warm sub-bass roller. Already battered by DJs including Sinden, Rob Da Bank, Coldcut, Laurent Garnier, Mary Anne Hobbs and Modeselektor, these cuts highlight TRG's versatility.

Artist: BENGA
Title: Phaze One
Label: TEMPA (UK)
Format: 2x12"
Price: $16.50
Catalog #: TEMPA 049EP
Phaze One is the first of a brand-new series by Benga. This double-pack arrives fully charged with six stand-out-in-the-mix jump-offs carved for peak-time raving. "Baltimore Clap" is a pulsing, sweating homage to B-more house. "eyeTunes" and "Mini Moto Cross" have been favorite mainstays in his sets and have also been beaten around the world by Toddla T, Plastician and Skream.

Artist: SKREAM
Title: Listenin' To The Records On My Wall
Label: TEMPA (UK)
Format: 12"
Price: $11.00
Catalog #: TEMPA 050EP
This is the first single from Skream's second album on Tempa, Outside The Box (TEMPA 016CD/LP). "Listenin' To The Records On My Wall" is an energetic celebration of the last quarter decade of British street music, inspired by the hardcore and jungle records used by his older brother Hijak, who was part of Grooverider's Internatty Crew. "Give You Everything (feat. Freckles)," is a slice of 2-step garage perfection, with chopped vocals and an unforgettable hook.

Artist: VA
Title: Tempa Allstars Vol. 6
Label: TEMPA (UK)
Format: 2x12"
Price: $18.00
Catalog #: TEMPA 051EP
This is the sixth volume in the Tempa Allstars series, providing a trusted filter to bass music enthusiasts in a time where music is so readily available that it's becoming increasingly more challenging to discover its real highlights, especially in the underground. Skream opens Allstars 6 with "Rollin' Kicks," and it does exactly what it says. The payoff here comes with giving yourself over to the progressive nature of the track -- long-time followers of Skream's productions will recognize this as one of the many styles in the pioneer's arsenal while relative newcomers may be surprised by this progressive and nuanced technique. For those who've not kept one eye on the brilliant and diverse output DnB producers such as dBridge and indeed Shogun Audio have been putting out there, this may be your first introduction to Icicle. With "Anything," wicked production value gives weight to his bass notes and shine to the shuffling metallic percussion. Icicle is joined by fellow samurai from the Shogun camp, Alix Perez, who sends an elastic bass line searching through a corridor of muffled voices, distorted synth lines and seemingly echoing chasms, bringing Allstars 6 to a close with "Untitled." Also included are three of the most exciting beatsmiths our generation has sprouted so far. Falty DL comes with a short and sweet offering in the form of "Sunday" -- a lush riddim perfect for the British BBQ, and at under 3 minutes, the sun may still be shining before it's time to replace the plates with Benga's "I Come From London," swung with the indomitable swagger that oozes from the S. Londoner. Cricket-like whistles add high energy frenzy to the rolling bass and percussion jamboree. Remixer du jour, SBTRKT's music has found its way into the boxes of electronic music's most discerning DJs and he doesn't falter on "Sleep In Tokyo," an early-hours backdrop for cities that never sleep.

Artist: SP:MC & LX ONE
Title: Down/Judgement
Label: TEMPA (UK)
Format: 12"
Price: $11.00
Catalog #: TEMPA 052EP
Tempa present 12" number three from SP:MC and LX One (formerly known as Joker D). Known for their deep, half-step beats and unrelenting bass weight, this 12" will not disappoint. Fans of Rinse FM's DJ Youngsta will instantly recognize "Down" as his trademark set opener. "Judgement" keeps the same spartan half-step vibe, with plenty of sub-bass. With these tunes first gracing the sacred record box of Youngsta as exclusive dubplates, you know that the mixdown and vibe are going to be on-point.

Label: TEMPA (UK)
Format: 12"

This is the first of two EPs, featuring the original version backed by Shy FX's soulful drum & bass remix.

Title: Boomba/Carbon Aliens
Label: TEMPA (UK)
Format: 12"
Price: $11.00
Catalog #: TEMPA 055EP
Tempa sees the return of the inimitable Coki (Digital Mystikz) with his first productions for the label since the now-legendary Night produced alongside Benga (TEMPA 030CD) and his first solo material since the highly revered Tortured/Shattered 12" in 2006 (TEMPA 024EP). "Boomba" sees sub-bass and wobble merged into one, fighting for supremacy, accompanied by guitar and strings. "Carbon Aliens" is a subdued affair, beginning with an otherworldly drum intro before the sub-bass weighs in. Support from N-Type, Skream, Benga, Hatcha, etc.

Artist: J:KENZO
Title: The Roteks/Protected
Label: TEMPA (UK)
Format: 12"
Price: $11.00
Catalog #: TEMPA 056EP
This is the first 12" on Tempa for new signing J:Kenzo. With releases on Argon, Dub Police and Roska's Kicks and Snares label, J:Kenzo's pedigree is already well established. Both tracks on this release -- "The Roteks" and "Protected" -- are deep, dark, half-step rollers that have until now been exclusive dubplates for long time Tempa A&R and tastemaker DJ Youngsta. Additional support from N-Type, Distance, Laurent Garnier, Kryptic Minds and Hatcha.

Artist: DUB WAR
Title: The Funky Deal/To The Depths
Label: TEMPA (UK)
Format: 12"
Price: $11.00
Catalog #: TEMPA 057EP
Classic Tempa producers Dub War are back in the studio after a 9 year hiatus. Dub War are Benny Ill (Horsepower Productions) and Bill Robin (Rebel HiFi). Trivia: Brooklyn's famous dubstep night "Dub War" takes its name from the production duo. These two new tracks, built in the Rebel HiFi studios in Berlin, are the unforgiving 4/4 bassweight of "The Funky Deal" and the under-the-sea vibe out of "To The Depths." For fans of Hessle Audio, Swamp 81, Autonomic, etc.

The Lost Tapes EP is a 4-track collection of high grade Horsepower 2-step/early-era dubstep originals and remixes from that time, destined for release on Tempa. Before release, the DAT tapes went missing. The tapes were eventually found, and the choicest cuts re-edited and digitally restored by Benny Ill.

Artist: HORSEPOWER PRODUCTIONS
Title: Good Ole Dayz/Justify
Label: TEMPA (UK)
Format: 12"
Price: $11.00
Catalog #: TEMPA 059EP
This 12" from Horsepower Productions represents their most current output while also providing a tantalizing glimpse of their fourth album. This 12" is something a little different from Benny Ill and Matt HP. Both tracks are rooted in dubstep -- containing its trademark shuffling hi-hats, backbeat snare, bass -- but never ones to be pigeonholed, Horsepower continue to push the envelope here, bringing their hip-hop influence to the fore. For fans of DJ Shadow, Mr. Scruff, Kid Koala, Herbaliser, Bonobo, etc.

Artist: SP:MC & LX ONE
Title: Hunted/Oh My Gosh
Label: TEMPA (UK)
Format: 12"
Price: $11.00
Catalog #: TEMPA 060EP
Fourth release on Tempa from Youngsta favorites SP:MC & LX ONE. "Hunted" and "Oh My Gosh" reveal more of their unmistakable signature sound: impeccable production, dark, haunting halfstep, intricate hi-hats and intense sub bass. Both these tracks have been put to devastating use by the likes of Youngsta, Distance, N-Type, Icicle and Pinch -- with "Hunted" in particular being a guaranteed rewind.

Artist: SKREAM
Title: Skreamizm Vol. 6
Label: TEMPA (UK)
Format: 3x12"
Price: $23.00
Catalog #: TEMPA 061LP
Skream has always reserved his deadliest club material for the Skreamizm series of EPs. Volume six, the first addition to the series since 2009, proves no exception. His attention might have been divided between exploring a range of styles on 2010's Outside The Box (TEMPA 016CD) album, but all seven tracks here stay locked, hard, to the demands of the dancefloor. Broader in its sonic range than any other Skreamizm so far, the range of sounds within this sixth volume in the series reflects dubstep's growing status over the last couple of years. It encompasses the sort of crushing, big-room club tracks his sets have become increasingly known for. "Xmas Day Swagger" is metallic and bristly, and the shuddering "Indistinct"'s intensity is cleverly offset by tiny melodic flourishes and fragments of female vocal. Both "Abstruse" and "Snarled" match their titles perfectly, the latter in particular casting robotic half-step in sleek, predatory shapes. The most startling moments, though, are those that depart from straight-up club form: a characteristically acerbic vocal from Trim on "Tweedle Dee Tweedle DUMB!"; and "FNKONOMIKA," where Skream continues to explore the sort of stripped-back, twilight drum 'n' bass pioneered by friend and collaborator dBridge. Dubstep at the moment finds itself in something of a scattered state -- blame it on Skrillex. Skream's music, though, remains closely linked both to his own history and to the genre's roots. It's refreshing to hear a producer making tracks for larger dancefloors that retain something of the subtlety and nuance of the past.

Artist: J:KENZO
Title: Ruffhouse/Therapy
Label: TEMPA (UK)
Format: 12"
Price: $11.00
Catalog #: TEMPA 062EP
J:Kenzo's tracks fall firmly within the Loefah school of dubstep minimalism -- the view that less, if wielded properly, can certainly be more -- an approach which has seen his tracks become staples in scene figurehead Youngsta's DJ sets and Rinse FM shows. "Ruffhouse" features a detached vocal from Rod Azlan, coiled and primed for attack. "Therapy" is marked by traces of dub-techno and sonar echo trails that bound around the mix.

Artist: SKREAM
Title: Anticipate (feat. Sam Frank)
Label: TEMPA (UK)
Format: 12"
Price: $11.00
Catalog #: TEMPA 063EP
Skream releases a brand-new single on Tempa. Anticipate features guest vocalist Sam Frank and as always, his trademark sub-bass lines weaving throughout. This 12" also comes complete with an on-point remix from Netsky and is the first in a series of heavyweight singles from Skream set to make an impact in 2012 and solidify his reputation as the seminal breakout producer of our generation.

Artist: TRUTH
Title: Dreams/Last Time
Label: TEMPA (UK)
Format: 12"
Price: $11.00
Catalog #: TEMPA 065EP
This 12" marks Truth's debut release on Tempa, but the duo have been carving out their own cavernous spaces for quite some time. Truth tracks have a cinematic twist -- all open spaces and soft-focus melody where many of their contemporaries trade in dissonance and claustrophobia. Truth's sound starts with the bassbin-shaking minimalism of early Loefah and DMZ, but that's only the beginning. A-side "Dreams" features Yayne.

Artist: CONSEQUENCE
Title: Injunction/Chamber Music
Label: TEMPA (UK)
Format: 12"
Price: $11.00
Catalog #: TEMPA 066EP
Consequence makes his Tempa debut with two classic half-steppers. marks his first foray into the realms of half-step, fitting in seamlessly alongside Tempa mainstays SP:MC & LX ONE, J:Kenzo and Truth. A-side "Injunction" found popularity as a regular fixture in renowned DJ Youngsta's sets in early 2012, and has support from V.I.V.E.K, Distance, and J:Kenzo.

Artist: J:KENZO
Title: Invaderz/Depth Charge
Label: TEMPA (UK)
Format: 12"
Price: $11.00
Catalog #: TEMPA 067EP
J:Kenzo has gone from being a promising one-to-watch in the dubstep scene, to a deeply-respected producer capable of approaching the genre from all angles. His third 12" for the label shows off two varied sides of his sound. "Invaderz" is, in many ways, classic J:Kenzo: its whipcrack snares fortified with rude, plunging sub-bass and licks of techno-leaning melody. "Depth Charge" plunges deeper still into the vortex, its snappy percussion paired with caustic rips of sub-bass, like the grinding of heavy machinery.

Artist: SOAP DODGERS
Title: Ill Minded/Contact
Label: TEMPA (UK)
Format: 12"
Price: $11.00
Catalog #: TEMPA 068EP
For their Tempa debut, Soap Dodgers ease back on the sound characteristic of their releases on N-Type's Wheel & Deal Records. A-side "Ill Minded" is a rolling half-step beast, with plunging sub-bass stabs, while on the southside, "Contact" is a darker, eyes-down affair. Both tracks have been firm favorites of Tempa A&R Youngsta, finding their way into his highly-revered record-bag. Support from Youngsta, N-Type, J:Kenzo, Distance, Icicle, and more.

Artist: PROXIMA
Title: Lie Detection/Brainstem
Label: TEMPA (UK)
Format: 12"
Price: $11.00
Catalog #: TEMPA 069EP
Proxima consolidates his position as one of dubstep's brightest new talents with a new 12" pairing "Lie Detection" with "Brainstem." An expertly-crafted exercise in brooding tension, "Lie Detection's" jaw tightening atmospherics color it's half-step fundamentals with Morse code chatter, hyper-decayed vocals and fading feedback traces to knife-edge effect. "Brainstem" maintains its partner's coiled spring arrangement but ramps up the aggression with a half-swung/half-stomped groove. With support from Youngsta and Distance, J:Kenzo and Icicle.

Artist: YOUNGSTA
Title: Destruction/Poseidon
Label: TEMPA (UK)
Format: 12"
Price: $11.00
Catalog #: TEMPA 070EP
Youngsta should need very little introduction by now. One of the figureheads of dubstep since the very beginning, long-running resident at scene-defining club night FWD>> and the DJ who first played some of the genre's most-loved anthems, he continues to be a hugely active figure in dubstep's development. His weekly show on Rinse FM draws deep for new music, helping to expose and break talented new producers. It's taken until now 11 years since FWD>> first opened its doors for his debut solo 12" to arrive.

Artist: NOMINE
Title: Nomine's Sound/Searching
Label: TEMPA (UK)
Format: 12"
Price: $11.00
Catalog #: TEMPA 071EP
The mysterious Nomine's debut 12" for Tempa takes dubstep into altogether more tropical territories. The fluid textures and east Asian melodies of its two tracks conjure up images of a future London fried by global warming. "Searching" opens with chimes like drops falling on water, before being consumed by an oily sea of sub-bass. On "Nomine's Sound," the bass lands in pulses, building in intensity before falling away again, while disembodied voices sing in the distance. Support from Youngsta and J. Kenzo. 300 copies only.

Artist: SKREAM
Title: Skreamizm Vol. 7
Label: TEMPA (UK)
Format: 3x12"
Price: $23.00
Catalog #: TEMPA 072LP
The seventh volume of Skream's seminal Skreamizm series sees the producer not only expanding his range dramatically, but inviting a true global pop-star along for the ride as well. "Copy Cat," the lead track from this latest installment, features a near-whispered vocal by Kelis over a sensual and minimal fusion of R&B and house, driven by an anxious and bounding groove that ensures the track will remain firmly lodged within the brain upon listening. Elsewhere, Skream takes much the same attitude he took with his recent Skreamizm tour -- a means of exploring broader avenues while still remaining connected to the essence of his sound. "Vacillate" and "Inhumane" are both immediately recognizable as Skream's own, pairing roaring metallic dissonance with welts of sub-bass, and the deep halfstep of "Junkyard Dispute" and "Scrooge's Revenge" stretch back to the dread pressure of early dubstep. Along with "Copy Cat," "Sticky" is another curveball that forms strong links with the techno/house-driven sets he's been playing recently, and is one of the most restless and driving things he's ever put his name to. Both are potent reminders of Skream's versatility as a producer, and add up to his most varied and exploratory Skreamizm to date.

Artist: AMIT
Title: Acid Trip/Don't Forget Your Roots
Label: TEMPA (UK)
Format: 12"
Price: $11.00
Catalog #: TEMPA 073EP
Amit's debut release on Tempa -- Acid Trip/Don't Forget Your Roots -- finds the UK-based producer/composer turning his hand towards two dark and deadly dubstep tracks. "Acid Trip" has been a regular weapon in Youngsta's record bag, and it's as intensely psychedelic as its name suggests, driven along by bounding, Middle Eastern-influenced percussion, grinding sub-bass and the shrieks of a 303 acid line. "Don't Forget Your Roots" is a skanking, dub-infused, meditative flip-side to "Acid Trip's" total freak-out, accompanied by half-sung, half-whispered vocals from Rani.

Artist: LX ONE AND YOUNGSTA
Title: Responsibility/No Cure
Label: TEMPA (UK)
Format: 12"
Price: $11.00
Catalog #: TEMPA 074EP
Youngsta returns with a two-track 12" through Rinse in collaboration with LX ONE. Together, LX ONE and Youngsta have created some of the leanest and deadliest tracks in the Tempa back catalog. "Responsibility" stands as an exceptionally minimalist cut: little more than metallic percussion, flickering dub chords and a hulking bass line that tears through the mix like a wrecking ball. "No Cure" heads off on a techno-leaning flex, matching plunging subs with rolling percussion, offering an entirely more propulsive companion the A-side's crushing weight.

Artist: SP:MC
Title: Declassified EP
Label: TEMPA (UK)
Format: 2x12"
Price: $18.00
Catalog #: TEMPA 075EP
MC-turned-producer extraordinaire SP:MC has announced his most expansive release to date, the four-track Declassified EP. Sci-fi signifiers are everywhere here, making for a dark and dystopian listen: the title-track and "Launch Code" meld chrome-plated percussion and spacecraft engine roar to rhythmic sub-bass, and "Air Lock" matches its name, its gaseous hiss and lurching percussion evoking sensations of being plunged into zero-gravity. The package is rounded off with "Kenshin," a fearsome collaboration with dubstep figurehead Youngsta.
