"Chicago-based sound artist J.R. Robinson has been creating live, ambient tonefields in museums around the US and Europe over the past two years-including the Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh, the Guggenheim Museum in New York, the Getty Museum in Los Angeles, the Pompidou Center in Paris, and The Art Center Berlin. Robinson has injected these recordings into collaborations with some like-minded heavy hitters from the noise, post-rock and jazz worlds such as David Yow (Jesus Lizard/Scratch Acid), Mark Shippy & Pat Samson (US Maple), Azita Youssefi, John Herndon & Jeff Parker (Tortoise), Keefe Jackson, Fred Lonberg-Holm and Ken Vandermark. The result (dubbed Wrekmeister Harmonies), is a distinctive hybrid of sound art and avant-garde musics, evoking the essences & influences of masterworks like Joe McPhee's Nation Time, Lou Reed's Metal Machine Music and the sound collages of Stockhausen. "Debut full length from Chicago noise pioneers: Miracle Condition reconciles the dissonant abrasiveness of US Maple with sublime, spacey grooves, subdued vocal harmonies and swirling sounds. Formed in 2006 by Mark Shippy (Shorty, US Maple), Pat Samson (US Maple) and Matt Carson the group has carved out it's own genre of powerful, cinematic soundscapes reminiscent of the early '90s shoegaze movement. Miracle Condition proves to be quite a departure from Shippy and Samson's earlier group -- trading in the mantle of rock deconstructionists for curators of the deep space soundtrack. Elliptical drones, charging percussion, fragile melodies and below the surface vocal work from Shippy and Carson creates a calculated brand of beautiful tension."

"The Spanish Suite was written to magnify the contribution that Moorish Spain made on the European Renaissance. The relationship of music to cosmic rhythms and harmony was altered from the original state of Spanish music and eventually distorted down to the 12 tone equi-temperment system of tuning. The Artistic Heritage Ensemble was taught to play outside of the 12-tone system and to recognize natural tone relationships. The musicians had to be dedicated to music for life in order to reach the level they obtained. The Spanish Suite represents the median effort in returning to our original music. It was written and first performed in December of 1965 an AACM performance at the St. John Grand Lodge located at 7349 S. Ingleside in Chicago. This particular performance was at the Afro Arts Theatre at 3900 S. Drexel in February of 1968."
