TOKEN 006EP
"The time is now: a new Token, a new wave of mayhem for dancefloors worldwide. For 6 we have the first Belgian artist on Token. It's been a while since we saw a release by Dimitri Andreas and since he released his widely well received
Panther
EP on the highly acclaimed Music Man label in 2003, the mass was hungry for a new release. 'Tiger' was made in 2006 and since then heavily hyped by a few DJs. Reactions were too hysterical to ignore so this track screamed for a release. The track contains a nasty groove and accompanied by fierce, dark, mystical strings, it flows into a break which drives any crowd into mass hysteria. The shrill bleeps after the break ensure a mental hypnosis and a physical pressure on the feet. London-based producer and Blueprint legend James Ruskin takes care of another interpretation for the flip side. With his recent album
The Dash
on Tresor, he continues his legacy. Here, Mr. Ruskin keeps the groove of the original track and gives it a bit more intimacy and funk."

PHASE
Title:
Ryder's Return/At First Light
Label:
TOKEN (BELGIUM)
Format:
12"
Price:
$12.00
Catalog #:
TOKEN 007EP
"Phase delivers a double A-side, with each a different feel. 'Ryder's Return' is a peak-time club track, with Phase's typical 909 percussion and effective stabs. 'At First Light' shows a different side of Phase which is more intimate & dreamy. It's a melodic ride which teases the dancefloor over & over again: the perfect soundtrack to an afterhour dream. Check out the engravings to find out more about the id's behind the tracks. Phase confirms again with his unique & uncompromising sound."
Artist:
GROVSKOPA
Title:
Sex And Violins
Label:
TOKEN (BELGIUM)
Format:
12"
Price:
$12.00
Catalog #:
TOKEN 008EP
"At eight already, Token serves you one of Grovskopa's best tracks ever. Mika Hallbäck hails from Sweden and has released earlier on notorious labels like Surface, Warmup & Audio Assault, while also operating his own labels Emergence & Pohjola. 'Sex & Violins' is a brutal peak time techno track that asks for everyone's attention. These hard & industrial drums can't & won't be ignored. Surgeon noticed it too but Grovskopa was not a newcomer to him, he already played several tracks by him and even compiled one on his last mix compilation for the legendary Warp label. Surgeon, one of the best who ever did it & still does it, approaches Grovskopa's track from another angle and brings more warmth & melody to the cold beats of the original track. His epic remake builds down to a down tempo beat with a dubstep feel. The combo of the headstrong & powerful original track and the epic atmosphere embodied by Surgeon's remake, makes this a strong & timeless eight release for the rapidly growing Token."
Artist:
MULERO, OSCAR
Title:
Take Seven EP
Label:
TOKEN (BELGIUM)
Format:
12"
Price:
$12.00
Catalog #:
TOKEN 009EP
"Token 9 connects a new artist to the label. Supporting Token releases since the beginning, now Oscar Mulero steps up to add his own flavour to the slowly growing Token catalogue. Hailing from Madrid, Mr. Mulero is the no. 1 Spanish export in techno. He has been DJ'ing since 1988 and has acquired a nice back catalog production-wise, not only on his own two labels Warm Up & Pole but also on Tresor, Surface, Theory & Coda.
Take Seven EP
takes off with the beatless, sparkling 'Cuckooland,' then dives immediately in the raging darkness of the title track. 'Take Seven' is a brutal peak-time techno track with acid influences. Mulero also imports the acid marks in the b-side tracks. 'House Of Clouds' has a throbbing hypnotic drive with a sort of Axis feel. 'Seven Kinds Of Sin' closes the b-side and the EP with a softer and deeper groove filled with acid from beginning to end. Oscar Mulero is still one of the major driving forces of the underground techno sound of today, which makes it only natural he'd connect with Token at some point."
Artist:
KENNEDY, INIGO
Title:
Onwards And Wrongwards
Label:
TOKEN (BELGIUM)
Format:
12"
Price:
$12.00
Catalog #:
TOKEN 010EP
"After nearly 2 years, Token is at its 10th release. Inigo Kennedy put Token on the map with a huge first release.
Identify Yourself
was recognized by many as the best techno release of 2007 and immediately raised high expectations for the following releases. One year later he confirmed again with Token 5,
Bite Back
. Now Mr. Kennedy returns with
Onwards & Wrongwards
, a storming 3-tracker to celebrate the 10th Token installment. 'Signal II' is a solid dancefloor track, with cold stabs & percussion driven by huge energy, which works on every dancefloor. On the flipside you can find 'Bosh': hard big-room-techno with a devastating breakdown. We dare you to play this. The B-side is closed with the beautiful and epic 'Filaments,' which flirts with both electronica and techno. Token: essential techno, part 10."
Artist:
PHASE
Title:
Fragmenta
Label:
TOKEN (BELGIUM)
Format:
12"
Price:
$12.00
Catalog #:
TOKEN 011EP
"No need for too much blabla on this one. Let the beats speak for themselves. This is Phase at his best: straight quality techno for the floor. Ripping it up in an uncompromising Rob Hood manner."
Artist:
ARRESTAR
Title:
Thoughts & Emotions
Label:
TOKEN (BELGIUM)
Format:
12"
Price:
$12.00
Catalog #:
TOKEN 012EP
"Arrestar, hailing from Brussels, is the second Belgian artist releasing on Token. He sent me this killer IDM/techno track some time ago and it was immediately a favourite of mine. I fell in love with it the moment I heard it. In the end, it just needed a release. I'm not the only supporter of this track: Inigo Kennedy, Oscar Mulero & Grovskopa love it, too, so they decided to contribute with each another interpretation of the track, which in the end results in a diverse package."
Artist:
PHASE
Title:
Subtext EP
Label:
TOKEN (BELGIUM)
Format:
12"
Price:
$12.00
Catalog #:
TOKEN 016EP
"New Phase, new bomb, early support by Ben Klock, Surgeon, Marcel Dettmann, Dave Clarke, James Ruskin etc. Phase is back on track with a new Token EP. It was worth the wait. Honestly, it was a tough call to choose which track should have which side/position on the 12"... On this EP, again it's safe to say no fillers are present. Let's keep it with that, it's a new Phase release on Token, you already know what to expect by now. This formula never failed in the past, it only gets better."
Artist:
PHASE
Title:
Transantarctic
Label:
TOKEN (BELGIUM)
Format:
12"
Price:
$13.00
Catalog #:
TOKEN 018EP
"Phase gives you three new minimalist tracks with a serious presence and relentless pulse that refuses to stay static. He is one of the few producers who really understands the subtlety, dynamics, complexity and energy of purist techno and implicitly manages to execute it with finesse every time. Amongst his fans are Robert Hood, Derrick May, Luke Slater & Marcel Dettmann. No surprise there."
Artist:
CTRLS
Title:
Interface EP
Label:
TOKEN (BELGIUM)
Format:
12"
Price:
$12.50
Catalog #:
TOKEN 022EP
Token now presents its third release for 2012, introducing
Ctrls
from Copenhagen, Denmark.
Troels B-Knudsen
is an ex-drum & bass head and has earned his producer stripes throughout the years. He slowly made his transition to techno, and last year, he and long-time friend
Lasse Buhl
formed
Northern Structures
. His debut for Token is called
Interface
EP and features three powerful pieces in Ctrls' own style: hard-edged, stripped-down, metallic sounds, detailed drum programming and a mean low-end.

PHASE
Title:
Morodem (Ben Sims Remixes)
Label:
TOKEN (BELGIUM)
Format:
12"
Price:
$12.00
Catalog #:
TOKEN SPEC1X
"This record doesn't need much info. The original TOKENSPEC1 was one of the techno records last year and sold out in a week. As we still get a lot of demand for this timeless track, we decided to release the original mix, which wasn't included on the red vinyl, together with 2 fresh remixes by Theory-boss and notorious 3 decks-wizard Ben Sims. All 3 goodies are pressed on a nice blue marbled vinyl. Nothing more to say then to conclude this is a major floor-filler and a nice start for Token in 2009. Already supported by Derrick May, Adam Beyer, Ben Sims, Dave Clarke, Steve Rachmad."
