Trapez is a Traum offshoot label, "Falling" is described as "...sounds like cold & clear vodka, one of the greatest minimal productions today." "EP of new music from this Russian artist, stylistically different from his previous CD. In that this is a record of straight 4/floor techno exercises, not the trick-heavy (and quite frankly, much more interesting) etudes found on his
Vortex/Please-126
record on Art-Tek. Some could find passages of use within; others can wait for the stepdown." --Hrvatski

"Trapez is happy to release the first album of Oliver Hacke. An album is full of new tracks and different styles. From the shuffle to the straight, from the funky to polar driven atmospheric tracks which he is also famous for. Releasing on Trapez and its sublabels as well as on the domestic label background, the Duesseldorf based Oliver Hacke has so far not delivered a clear picture of himself. Who is the man that gave us
Polar 1
, the walking bass epics on the 'Clip' EP, 'Der Vampir von Duesseldorf' or his fantastic remix on Akufen's 'Psychometry iii'. The album makes an attempt to give answers to that question. With subject carrier, Oliver Hacke, who is very much interested in contemporary electronic music, pays tribute to revolutionary development in techno and house during the last 5 years, fusing it with his own ideas of sound design/mastering and dynamics. Influenced by artists such as: Cristian Vogel, Neil Landstrumm, as well as Herbert and Thomas Brinkmann, he has added an universal but individual flavor to this album.
Subject Carrier
is not a mere collection of music collected over the years, but has been recorded for this occasion."

TRAPEZ 005CD
Repressed. "After two successful 12"s on Trapez and several EPs on his own label imprint CMYK, Alex Under has made it to the top techno house producers in Spain. His reputation rising also in other parts of Europe as his psychedelic and trippy techno and house is the sound of now for many people. His productions are based on construction/deconstruction, hypnotic melodies, over blunt electronic rhythms and fine basslines. A motto which could be applied to his style: 'Minimal techno, house, acid?... no prejudices and no frontiers.'
Dispositivos De Mi Granja
is Alex Under's debut LP. It not only includes an explosive version of his hit 'Las Bicicletas son para el Verano' from his first EP on Trapez, but also shows his large music variety for the first time on one format: contrasting minimal techno with playful techno house... ranging from deep techno to the most psychedelic track 'El Establo Queado.' 'El Establo Queado' is produced in the vein of his remix for Oliver Hacke. The track holds hypnotic techno-trance, with a Plastikman flavor and Daniel Bell's Chicago magic plus a modern vision of dance floor conception. Since Alex Under is playing live twice a week in European clubs, his tracks are all full of sweet, riding rhythms and nights full of action. For example 'El Ordeñador Personal' is a track that lives on tiny melodies working with jacking beats and big time melodies. Spanish melodies? Wonderful melodies embracing techno as well as house clubbers."

SAMUEL, JEFF

Step

TRAPEZ (GERMANY)
Format:
CD
Price:

Catalog #:
TRAPEZ 007CD
Trapez is happy to present Jeff Samuel's long-awaited first artist album entitled
Step
. After seven years of making music, "the 8-bit Tetris wizard" Jeff Samuel has produced a true classic LP, with tracks that rock the floor as well as tracks that are deep and melodic, sometimes even epic. The album has a strong songwriting link, although the music is still stripped down and jacking.
Step
was created during the spring of 2006, and Samuel continues in the melodic direction of his most recent releases on Trapez and Trapez Ltd,
Bork
and
Endpoint
. These tracks were conceived as part of a dancefloor album, but the extra steps and melodic sophistication makes especially the CD version (containing extra tracks) one which can be listened to in sequence. The title itself has many meanings: at its core, a step is an object to get from one level to another. We can see that Jeff has accomplished this on the closing track of the CD "I Think They Are Trying To Say Something," which uses a melody that evolves over the course of nine minutes, never repeating itself. His production elements have also been stepped up, including the use of strings on some tracks and even a short journey into broken beats on "Month 2 Month," both an ode to Detroit and to the struggle of living in the USA as a techno artist. Jeff's recent DJ sets have already been setting dance floors ablaze with album tracks like "Off The Mark" and "You Will Never Know," both featuring Samuel's trademark basslines and almost song-like hooks. With
Step
, Samuel consciously wanted to take his melodies as far as he could. While they have always been present in early works such as "Double Yum," "Knob" and "Fcote," they were never as outward and naked as on this LP. Could this album be his final statement in this direction? Maybe we will find out in another seven years.

TRAPEZ 008CD
The fifth compilation in the
Selection
series, specially mixed by label A&R and DJ
Riley Reinhold
(aka
Triple R
).
Selection 5
features a lot more tracks than its predecessors, many of which have not been released on either Trapez or Trapez Ltd so far, but will be in 2007. Reinhold has released dozens of records, played all the best clubs, and hence has acquired all the best skills to mix tracks right. This CD starts with an unreleased track by Riley himself: "Point Zero" is a hypnotic psychedelic track that is mixed into
Dominik Eulberg
's remix of the rave monster "Fillertet2" by
Shane Berry
.
Rico Puestel
is a new German artist who shows promising skills with his
Akufen
-like structured funk trax.
Martin Eyerer
and
Gui Boratto
are next up, putting forward a bassline-driven, percussive minimal monster that works its way into jazzy chords before it returns to a stripped-down groove.
Ananda
's remix of
Marek Bois
is a groovy journey through different levels of dynamics, while Poland's superstar
SLG
takes a cool Mediterranean groove and a nice bass line that makes his track roll.
Luke Le Mans
has produced one of the rare acid tracks on Trapez, keeping it cool, controlled and nice in the build-up.
3 Channels
contribute a rhythmic and deep Chicago-flavored rhythm track which flows nicely into
Jeff Samuel
's last Trapez drop.
Sandiego
presents his own version of Spanish funk-induced techno,
Florian Meindl
and
Alex Under
provide pure German youth techno and
Audio Werner
remixes
Swat-Squad
's top track.
Mark Henning
ropes some straight minimal techno, while newcomer
Andrea Ferlin
likes his minimal more hazy.
Nôze
and
UND
are mixed together into one before we are pulled back into minimal techno by
Renato Figoli
.
Toro
's minimal Latin groover is by
Jorge Gebauhr
and Reinhold himself, meeting the final track of the CD, a remix of "Supersnack" by Trapez core artist
Oliver Hacke
. The future looks bright for Trapez.

Catalog #:
TRAPEZ 009CD
This is the sixth compilation in Trapez's
Selection
series, specially mixed by label co-owner and A&R of Traum, Trapez, MBF and MBF LTD,
Triple R
aka
Riley Reinhold
. Triple R sums up what has happened in 2007 and gives a preview of unreleased tracks to come in 2008. The 64-minute mix ironically casts off with a track by Riley himself which he has edited so that it functions as the intro for the CD. It mixes into
Bülent Gürler
's "Koala," a great bassy track that was featured on
Loco Dice
's Beatport Top 3 charts and was supported by
Michael Mayer
-- super cool and spooky.
SLG
's new groover "Earthworm" breaks into Bülent's track, and is a really cool Chicago funk track in the spirit of
Daniel Bell
's DBX ones.
Reggy Van Oers
' mover "Cytric" follows, mixing
Carl Craig
stings with minimal techno -- a real exception in the world of minimal today. It runs into the trancy track "Endless Ride," produced by the wonderful duo
Salvatore Freda & Massimo Steffanelli
.
Red Robin & Jakob Hilden
present "Snapdragon," a bold and super bassy monumental techno production that gets everybody moving on the dancefloor. The label's first Greek artist
Mihalis Safras
is a madman in the studio -- from his productions with
Mark Broom
to his incredible work on the Minimise label, he pumps out two dazzling and never before released tracks. The "Disco Bus" track by
Aquilina & Venturi
features a groundbreaking rhythm and has all kinds of special DJs like
Jeff Samuel
going wild.
Alex Under
returns to set new standards with electro-experimentation and, to close things off,
Mauler
aka
Fabrice Lig
, twists his Roland 101 bass line into heaven. Also featuring
3 Channels
,
Massi DL
,
Alexi Delano & Xpansul
,
Roland Dill
and

"The return of Rahn to Trapez, and an auspicious offering to be sure. Where the first 12" for the label developed the dubbier elements of the label's remit, this one heads straight for the dancefloor jugular, repeating motifs shift and build, so instead of your regular looping techno twelve, you have a different beast altogether. The Trapez of recent releases has cleverly looked more and more square on at club dynamics, and this moves and shakes in all the right places. Pure brilliance."

This 2-tracker features 'Quatro- S' a hard rocking, mental tech house track, influenced by Mr Oizo's famous basslines fused with cut up splattered vocals that go turn dancefloors upside down. The flip-side 'Deep Damage' is a modulation monster reminding us of the best Transmat records, monotone coolness sparked with deep emotions. An epic which goes longer than 10 minutes, making nice changes in arrangement."

River
, the breakthrough nationally and internationally, she surprises once again, this time with a super techno monster that pays tribute to analog strings and dark raving minimal tracker.
Straightaway
could be regarded as a German answer to Mad Mikes Red Planet Productions, sweet and deep but rocking. The unique analog quality in sound, everything is 100% non digital(!) And the spontaneity of ideas floating in and out as feathers in the wind, add a feeling not to be replaced."

"We are happy to involve one of our big heroes of the past, Ozy the man behind so many brilliant releases on Islands Thule records. The man who has also remixed Gus Gus and other nice bands. He started out doing music in 1997 when his name by then was spelled Ozzy, later changed to Ozy. Who now expects a dubby flavor like his music in the past will be confronted with something new.
Imaginary Rockstar Syndrome
is much more in the flavor of Akufen's music on Trapez, but fused with deep melodies and rocking basslines, powerful and smooth at the same time. A super alliance. The records consists of two tracks, the A-side being the title track and the B-side 'Lingo.'"

The title track 'Mondrian' connects with early Chicago house, deep modulating bassline, freaking out from time to time, still always hypnotic and cool escalating and transforming towards the end to something else. "The original was delivered by these two young artists from Copenhagen on Trapez ltd 18. The track is quite unusual for Trapez because it depends very much on the stunning vocals and more rock lead arrangements. However, Trapez saw more potential in it and asked other leading artists on their label and friends to remix the track. Not on Trapez and for the first time on the label is the Canadian Pan/Tone with a remix that sounds very much like his last EP on Sub Static, grinding minimal fat sounds. Wolfgang tums friend of Dominik Eulberg twists the original towards a pop natured track and Cabral from New Jersey is the most sexy with his Chicago like understatement. Old school flair and stomping are delivered by the Dirt Crew, that usually release on MBF and have gained big success lately."

"Directly from Madrid, Alex Under delivers his debut for Trapez. The owner of Cmykmusik seduces us with 3 tracks filled with his own trademark, clicky and groovy techno to burn any dancefloor around the world. Side A is a monster killer infused with mutant techno, fast and furious. Steve Bug meets Akufen in a two person elevator in Zagreb. A track that goes from craziness to minimal groove and back again. Leaves mouths wide open and eyes shut down. Side B contains what is his first approach to house music, with sampled vocals and deep and crazy rhythms, melting classic techno with his own vision of fractured dance music. Always innovative, Alex creates a flow that refuses to be linear, delivering a groove that changes and evolves constantly...his intention was to fuse the 3 basics of dance music, an hybrid containing the best of all of them: the groove of house music, the vitality and rawness of techno and the hypnotic melodies of trance. Alex has worked all the 3 tracks through a deconstruction process, remixing them from the initial basic track."

Denis Karimani, has created with 'Bounce23' on Trapez an entertaining, funky hedonistic-disco-smasher, with grinding sinus-bleeps and chopped up hooklines , whereas 'Extraterrestrian' is a space techno hymn, a freestyle story in audio with a lot of cheerful actors. Burnski is DJing , playing regularly at the Sugar Shack in Middlesbrough, with worldwide established house & techno DJ's. With one release signed with Trapez so far, he is in the very early stages of his musical career. His debut 12" is a fine blend of Detroit techno and English house following the footprints of legends such as Nexus 21 with his b-side 'Customer Service' or tricky disco with his a-side 'Coldcut'. His production is amazing and representative for the top English producers today. There is more to come from James we are sure."

"Born 1975 in Dresden, Germany, Patrice was raised on a diet of free jazz, Frank Zappa and all kinds of other music you wouldn't normally expect in an average household. Starting to develop a musical taste of his own, his main influences quickly became bands like Depeche Mode, The Cure and Yello. The love for combining cold synthetic sounds with a warm human touch has stayed with him until today. Today, Patrice's musical style can best be described as genre-bending, organic, never loosing sight of the groove, and melting '80s electronic music with today's cutting edge underground house and techno, a style he refers to as 'Mutant Pop', which is his first release to date on Trapez."

Las Bicicletas Son Para el Verano
, Alex Under strikes again with his micro-sheepy-pumping techno, more cerebral than ever, not only by the reference to the tracklisting, but also because of the sheer, absorbent and precise tracks' construction. Unmistakable already by the way in which he joins, by way of collage, the most alienating rhythms and melodies, Alex Under submerges again in a rollercoaster of rhythms characterized by the way he assembles rhythms and alienates melodies as a very personal collage, Alex Under takes us on a rhythm roller coaster always mutating at every beat, transforming a legacy that goes from Detroit to trance, always keeping in mind that less is more. Mental stimulation and physical drive is the key to his tracks."

"Oliver Henares from Barcelona created his Alter Ego Swat-Squad with his brother Rubén. The idea was to create an artist platform and organized expos and electronic music parties dedicated to 3D graphic design. 'Escoria' on Trapez 053 is a jacking' tech house monster, based on a seductive rhythm that won't stop, with funky up and downs and last but not least.... with hysteric breaks. The flip-side shows with 'Monterism' and 'Bauhaus' the symbiosis of track and melody."

that was released in 2004 on Trapez. The remix EP involves prominent U.S. producer and DJ John Tejada (Palette) and rising artist Alex Under. John Tejada has transformed the minimal groover '6:04' into a techno epic with ups and downs. Deep parts and quirky sequences were added, creating a masterpiece of music. If you like bass-lines this track will be in your top list. On the flip-side, Alex Under has developed a hypnotic Spanish techno groover with Detroit techno trance elements out of the original track '7:03.'"

"In September 2005 he released his first groundbreaking album
Dispositivos de mi Granja
LP -- which followed his three EPs on Trapez. This new 12" features 'Las Bicicletas son para el Verano' remixes by two of Alex Under's most respected producers: the Vampire from Düsseldorf aka Oliver Hacke one of Trapez's core artists and Scottish Alex Smoke from Soma records. With his version of 'Las Bicicletas,' Oliver Hacke presents one of his most powerful techno pieces so far. Even stronger and more mighty than his previous hit records. A 100% techno universe... sounding as if techno had never happened. In comparison Alex Smoke starts cool and with much understatement. During the flow of his 'Rusty Bike Mix' Alex inserts powerful basslines building up friction and suspense. A very deep, evolving track with a long dynamic. A masterpiece."

"It has been a while since Jeff has released any records. So we are happy he decided to return with a Trapez release featuring new tracks of his. The comeback of Jeff Samuel is packaged in a brand new sound design of strong punchy crispiness. But his swinging cool, vibrant, tracky rhythms he is known for are also essentials of his new productions. The bass is as strong as on his last EP
Endpoint
on Trapez Ltd. but much more hi-tech. The new tracks keep a coolness which stays true to Jeff's unique handwriting. 'Bork' starts as a bouncy track, happy natured before it turns bass-y, dark and mighty, as if temperature had dropped below zero! The flip-side 'Gonadotrpin' is a deeper less flippant track, going stronger in the direction of his forerunner 12"s on Trapez, more fragile-sexy-subtle and groovy as hell!"

"With the Trapez 060 Niklas Worgt has produced his first record under the pseudonym of Marek Bois. He releases regularly under the well known name Dapayk on his own label Mo's Ferry Productions. The new project Marek Bois was invented for his more minimal techno tracks. The A-side track 'You Got Good Ash' is an exceptional cool minimal rocker with a slight Chicago note to it. The track draws towards influences like Daniel Bell and similar producers who can strip down music to it's rhythm essentials. The monster breakdown of the track is the nice peak time moment that pulls the track up on to the dance floor where it's able to stand among the finest of the moment. The B-side track 'BoisBoisBois' is a rhythmical groover which reminds us of Richie Hawtin's groove project 'Concept.'"

"Justin Maxwell, Palette artist and pupil of John Tejada, who has already delivered a brilliant Remix for Dominik Eulberg's

It combines the abilities of the schizoid Maxwell 'digitizing the indigestion of one thousand angels, their stomachs simultaneously rumbling with gastro-oscillator sub bass' together with Bruyns academic research in physically-modeled synthesis. The outcome is a perfect symbiosis. You can fell this the strongest with 'What Happened' a track which starts off extremely dry and minimal and then steals away in a different direction with slightly hysteric samples which successfully embrace rock influences."

"Alex Under returns after his Trapez album with a big two- track slammer, fusing the Spanish rhythm and flavor that makes him so special to the post techno hemisphere. 'El Diluvio Azul' is an electric rhythm monster, which glows through its polyrhythmic patterns with tiny but shiny melody-notations connected with them as tight as only atoms can be attracted to each other. The track reminds a bit of Jeff Samuels 'Knob' but adds the Mediterranean love for this special groove that only Alex Under controls. 'El Diluvio Azul' docks on to Under's LP but strides even straighter towards the dance floor, sucking in emotions there and so wins in size continuous. Alex Under is the Spanish plastic man who manages to vitalize and actualize the the best moments of the past and then troughs them on the dance floor with skill. The opponent 'El Danubio Universal' has the bass line of the year! When after one minute Alex Under adds this bass line the world turns in a different direction. More minimal and sparse but fat in sound, this track rocks floors!"

is a follow-up to the

in a big fashion. The A-side track "Lady Salata" is a techno animal, representing a main floor, full-on techno tool. The flip-side tracks "Amnesia" and "Close Up" reveal the deeper, tricky, drugged-out side of techno. "Amnesia" develops into a cool, dry percussive rocker with a lot of nice understatement. "Close Up" has an old school acid tune in it. 3 Channels are one of the few acts that can join the classic techno approach with the hip effects and modulations that are big now in clubs worldwide. Their production is so powerful and brilliant in its details that it positions them firmly on the techno world map!

Jerry, Spring Her!
is a nice blend of classic Detroit techno with a modern version of acid, that can really shake the foundation of clubs. The A-side is a rhythm-machine, with a cool and rocking stop and go attitude/motion, quite percussive in a techno way and a nice techno tool. The B-side is a big acid track -- a strong mover that has an element to it that is missing in a lot of sets nowadays. Luke reduces the tweak of the 303 to a nice static feeling, rather than twisting the knobs in the old school way. He has a lot of experience as a DJ and gives his tracks a very nice flow, while being funky and warmhearted at the same time.

Robert Hood
and
Jeff Mills
and adds deep moments of silence to generate the power for the strong driving moments in this techno masterpiece. The B-side focuses on the deeper and trippy side of his music and should be interesting for those who like music that sneaks up to your heart.

"Milk In Tea" and "Tamiflop 2" are tricky, percussive and polyrhythmic and elevate the big mother ship Chicago to another level.

Double LP version.
His production elements have also been stepped up, including the use of strings on some tracks and even a short journey into broken beats on "Month 2 Month," both an ode to Detroit and to the struggle of living in the USA as a techno artist. Jeff's recent DJ sets have already been setting dance floors ablaze with album tracks like "Off The Mark" and "You Will Never Know," both featuring Samuel's trademark basslines and almost songlike hooks. With
Step
, Samuel consciously wanted to take his melodies as far as he could. While they have always been present in early works such as "Double Yum," "Knob" and "Fcote," they were never as outward and naked as on this LP. Could this album be his final statement in this direction? Maybe we will find out in another seven years.
