"Philipe Cam is a star in his own field. He is among the few people that have succeeded to write hypnotic dance music without a conventional beat still conveying a thrilling, dramatic feel. Cam has developed an accurate, intense and complex formula of modulation-techno. Starting with music similar to Pan Sonic in 1996, his music turned towards a more elegant form of minimal music. He worked as a DJ in Brussels beginning of the 90s. Then chose to become a sailor and cruised the oceans. Mid of the 90ies he started to study electronic music in Brussels and began to write music for theatre, ballet and French movies. Abstract soundtracks lead to an organic form of music, which was equally influenced by modern techno as Wolfgang Voigt's Studio 1/Gas or Basic Channel/Maurizio. His demo received by the Cologne based label Traum in 1999 led to a series of three fantastic 12"s. Since then journalists have made links also to Manuel Göttsching's classical masterpiece
E2-E4
referring to his low evolving modular wave scapes and strong repetitiveness. Cam's latest compilation CD
Balance
on Traum is a fine selection of tracks previously released as Traum 12" s. This CD contains tracks in full length, plus a video of 'Mixte' by Cologne artist Yvette Klein, who thickly textured the music with a minimal aesthetic. Cam's music corresponds heavily to the Cologne scene, where his music is appreciated and played throughout the clubs by the likes of Michael Mayer, Tobias Thomas and various other DJs as well as experimental djs from the A-musik corner."

"Chile born Miss Dinky stems from a circle of talented musicians in Santiago De Chile, including Riccardo Villalobos (Playhouse/Perlon) and Dandy Jack aka Martin Schopf. Miss Dinky aka Alejandra Iglesias moved to N.Y.C. in 1996 to stay contemporary but was very much inspired by a trip to Berlin 1995 where she met DJ Hell, Robert Görl and Stacy Pullen she soon became resident in one of New Yorks most crowded gay clubs, the 'Flamingo East'. The breakthrough came after she founded a DJ collective in N.Y.C. with three other female DJs, the 'Angels On Vinyl'. She ended up playing everywhere: The Limelight, Tunnel, The Cooler, Soundfactory, 21's, Drinkland and during the Transmat tour with Derrick May and Aril Brinkha. Her work as a DJ also included gigs with Khan, John Selway, DJ Silver as well as Adam X. Her first CD includes her ambient tracks tracks as well as her dance tracks with many previously unreleased tracks. Many of the exotic sound have collected through her DJ travels in Latin America. Her music can be described as melodic and emotional, deep and rhythmic. Influences have been Christian Vogel, Basic Channel, Carl Craig, Derrick May etc. and she certainly loves the early period of clonks and bleeps as one can feel throughout her music."

"The Japanese artist Wakisaka Akifuma belongs to the well known artists of the Japanese techno scene. He has released on Ken Ishii's label Dub Restaurant among others such as Denki Groove. Nevertheless his style varies very much and we see him now with his first release on the Cologne label Traum with beautiful analog music that is very much different from his other releases on his own label Loveburger.
Music For Lazy People
puts him on the list with musicians such as Biosphere and of course Philippe Cam. Wakisaka Akifuma has studied composition at the University of Tokyo and started producing music in 1989. He started with his own label Loveburger in 1995 and released four cds so far. His influences range from classic electronic-ambient-pop music such Kraftwerk and Brian Eno to Wolfgang Voigt's project Gas. Waki performs live regularly in Japanese clubs such as: Blue, Bullet, Womb, Le Deco, Marbeltron, Zazou, Humandog, Montage, Yellow, etc."

"
Seed
is an album that merges influences of Clicks'n'Cuts, Minimal House and Ambient into something that is experimental and beautiful at the same time, a rather unusual combination (but that's one of the things that makes life worth living: unusual music, right?). The music is floating, occupying rooms little by little, not by using broad faces of synthie sounds but by fragile yet warm electronic noises. The CD contains an animated visualization of the track 'Brief Encounter' by Yvette Klein."

$18.00
Catalog #:
TRAUM 009CD
"Traum releases with the
Re'Processed
CD and LP one of the most elaborate remix projects around. The remixes rely to a high percentage on sound files of the Process track 'Pelican' released originally on the
Elektronische Musik Interkontinental
in 2001. Other artists have chosen other tracks for a remix, Such as 'Estero', 'Modif', 'Integ' all released on Traum. Drawing on the aspect of intercontinental friendship, the line up goes beyond the interior Traum family and features for the first time also internationally well known artists such as: Akufen (Trapez, Force Inc., Perlon), Fairmont aka Jake Fairley (Sender, Dump Unit, Traum), Cabanne (Telegraph), Move D (Source, Warp), Jeff Milligan (Force Inc., Revolver, Cynasure), Tomas Jirku (Klang, Force Inc., Revolver), Fax (Traum), Anton Kubikov (Trapez, Force Tracks, Salo), Jonas Bering (Kompakt), Olaf Dettinger (Kompakt), Markus Guentner (Kompakt, Ware), Joachim Spieth (Kompakt, Onitor), M.I.A. (Sub Static, Traum), Oliver Hacke (Trapez, Background), Philippe Cam and Mo & Giamo (Emd) The aspect of new unknown artists always important for Traum is taken into account by new artists such as: Danieto from Chile, Retrofit, Mike Uzzi (Boston), Bern (Lille) and Eamonn Doyle (Dublin).
Re'Processed
relies to a high degree on computer manipulated tracks made for the dancefloor but features also analog modulation and ambient electronic music."

Catalog #:
TRAUM 010CD
"Fairmont is the alias of Jacob Fairley and stands for his melodic techno soul side as opposed to his radical stripped down minimal techno releases on Dumb Unit, Sender, and Killer. Under Fairmont he has released two 12"s on Traum.
Paper Stars
features tracks that deliberately have been recorded over the last 12 months for a project that was to introduce Jacobs vocals, guitars sounds, drum machines and synths. With
Paper Stars
he departs even more from his status as a minimal techno producer, giving credit to his rock roots, which a city such as Toronto is known for. Fairley hums melodies, rocks basslines that sound like 1000 trapped bees ('Last Words') and then dives into a minimal groover ('True North', 'Inside') to end in a folk nurtured "Ignore Me'.
Paper Stars
tells a story, is spiced with pictures and emotions that allow the listener to rehash a bit of his life. In contrast to his new project, The Uncut, we witness a stronger pop influence drawing for example on Wolfgang Voigt Gas project ('Kinmount') stating a light quality with bits of heaviness. Ten tracks that fly by as if you were sitting on the back seats of a car letting towns and buildings pass by."

Catalog #:
TRAUM 012CD
"Starting 7 years ago with the compilation centered around the Argentinian electronic scene in Buenos Aires, and a follow up by Gustavo CD by Santiago de Chiles mastermind Adres Bucci and & New York artist Kate Simko. Andres Bucci has been a respected member of the electronic underground in Santiago for years. Playing together with Atom Heart, the cooperation with Kate Simko has resulted in a concept album of 11 tracks that feature electronica as well as piano pieces. After Gustavo Lamas and Iquinn's album on Traum,
Shapes Of Summer
is the third album that is not a mere compilation of the work. The discrepancy in style between piano and electronica and the seemingly loose assembly, is rather antagonistic. The magic lies in the silent form of communication capturing atmospheres in a gentle way. Traum continues to release their electronic side on CD, while the releases on vinyl are devoted even more to the clubs and alternative world."

TRAUM 013CD
"Usually associated with light, 'Spectra' can also refer to a collection of sound frequencies, so both bases are covered here, with sound by Process and light with Yvette Klein's video.
Spectra
is the second album by the English artist Steve Barnes on the Cologne based label Traum. Rhythmically the tracks are mid-tempo techno in form, still minimal in nature, with added spacious atmospheres and melodic moments. A nod in the direction of early '90s techno and electronica with an appreciation for Chicago and Detroit innovators like Carl Craig, Larry Heard and Richie Hawtin. As well as British and European influences like Maurizio, Monolake and To Rococo Rot are present with the contemporary Process approach. The sound of
Spectra
has changed from his previous albums
Shape Space
on Fat Cat and
Pattern Recognition
on Traum, sound-wise to his 'Surface/Fiction' 12", which marks a cornerstone in his career. Creating a stir among DJs such as Richie Hawtin, Riccardo Villalobos, Sven Väth and many others, it announced the beginning of a new aesthetic. But certainly the essential idea of his music continues onwards, that sound can create spacious, self-contained environments, something you can immerse yourself in.
Spectra
features electronic tracks as well as dance tracks, including a Quicktime animation video of 'Room.'"

Interkontinental
has proved itself as a forum for Riley Reinhold to break and foster new talent along side his growing and respected roster. Process of course has been there from the start, Jorge Gebauhr, Oliver Hacke and Broker/Dealer have all been willing accomplices. Pobnebo is best remembered for a quite remarkable twelve for Schnitstelle a couple of years back, more for Below, as well as strong sales technique at the Freebase store in Frankfurt. New recruits in the guise of homelanders Adam Kroll and Boris Heinzmann, Harry Hohnen and Victor Berman from Australia, Kosuke Anamizu from Japan; while Michael Fentum and Donal Tierney from England and Ireland respectively, represent the growing audience for quality minimal electronic house of this kind all over the islands west of Europe. 2004 release, repressed. "The newcomer Dominik Eulberg (who is not really a newcomer since he has released records since 1995) has had his big hit on Traum with 'Die Rotbuchunken vom Tegernsee' which has lead to international recognition in 2004. Very similar in style and dynamic he has created soon after his EP:
Flora und Fauna
that transports the same spirit alongside 7 new tracks on the double LP and 10 on the CD. Did he introduce the fusion of nature sounds with digital programming and analog techno soul on his EP, the album explicitly highlights exactly this quality to the extreme, featuring explanations in word on the cover. The unique quality is once again, the stream of music, where there is no interruption, but the breaks of intense silence and melodic cascades. You can be sure the return of techno finest qualities then is not far away, when he crashes back into the beat, quite happily, like a child. 'Die Trottellummen von Helgoland' is already considered a direct follow up to the 'Klangteppichverleger Wolle' of his 'Rotbauchunken' 12" and is played amongst other tracks by DJs such as Sven Väth, Riccardo Villalobos, André Galuzzi and others. Others are the brilliant 'Der Zug der Kraniche' which reminds of early British ambient music of the 90ies as well as several others. He defines club music with a teaser appeal introducing new sounds by the minute. So we might have a new genre here: teaser techno! The spectrum of the album is by any means a real album not a mere collection of tracks. The CD version contains 3 extra tracks that even more highlight his approach to create a full album."

"Traum's annual bestselling
Interkontinental
series returns with new tracks by Domink Eulberg, Oliver Hacke, Adam Kroll, Steve Barnes and Off Pop and the new Traum contributers Peter Schumann, Acut, Zentex and Terrae. It also features the epic 'Dinamo' by Nathan Fake, for the first time in full length and on CD. Zentex is Traum's only artist from Portugal having his debut release with
Napa
on Traum, the same applies to the German artist Achim Gauder aka Akut, who lives in the countryside displaying intricate harmonies. Esa aerospace engineer Pasquale Basso aka Terrae is already known through his work on the label DSP Italy. Peter Schumann has also successfully released music on Frakfurt's label Catennacio. This CD is a loose compilation but at the same time has a strong dynamic flow, which results in the final and smooth rhythm track 'Ric' by Peter Schumann. Traum core artist Adam Kroll has contributed a wonderful melodic track, as well as Oliver Hacke, who composed the wonderful 'Polar' track some time ago. Returning to Traum with an epic track, Steve Barnes and Riley Reinhold have written a clicky and rhythmic track that evolves in a silly micro melody. Off pop celebrates his comeback with his central 'Grammphon' sample. Dominik Eulberg follows his path of the synthesis of nature and synthetic sounds in his unique style. The CD holds an animated video by Yvette Klein. The storyline is based on the fairy tale 'Quon And The Wild Flowers Of China' by Glynis Klein and the soundtrack was composed by Steve Barnes."

TRAUM 018CD
The change in the style of the music coming out on Traum in the year 2005 is reflected in this brand new
Interkontinental 5
CD and 3LP. In the tradition of the annual
Interkontinental
series, number 5 is thoughtfully compiled by A & R head
Riley Reinhold
aka
Triple R
, and for the first time mixed in a strong and tasteful flow instead of being compiled track by track. The CD opens with a soft intro by
Steve Barnes
and
Yvette Klein
. This tune was also used for the animation short "All Things That Make Me Happy" which appears on the CD. The animation is reflected on the cover designed by Yvette Klein &
Jacqueline Klein
. In comparison to the previous
Interkontinental
releases, number 5 features the more dance-crazy side of the label, with a lot of new artists alongside the core artists:
Adam Kroll
who was very successful already this year with his
Godzilla
12";
Jesse Somfay
on the heels of new progressive techno in Canada;
Process
aka Steve Barnes using new technology for hi-tech ambience in techno;
Zentex
blends techno functionalism with unearthly strings. Last but not least Triple R produced a track together with
Emanuel Geller
slightly more in the old-school acid direction with Kraut-rock strings to boot. Hailing from Austria, Belgium and Germany, the new artists on this release stand for the uprising generation making sophisticated crossovers into different genres and sound design concepts. All tracks on
Interkontinental 5
are new and unreleased and incorporate a sense of melody and harmony building on Traum's tradition for the last 8 years, plus a determined attitude to push boundaries and support today's sound design and musical arrangements.

"Process aka Steve Barnes is a respected member of the English electronic-scene for now over three years . Alongside Peter Ford, SND and Mathew Herbert he has developed a specific English style of minimal dance music. His modern and groove oriented music deals with abstract sound design, sometimes non-rhythmic, sometimes rhythm led. The overall concept underlying the 'Process sound' is to explore music´s relation to space and therefore picks on the heritage of true English minimalism such as LFO, Sweet Exorcist etc."

Catalog #:
TRAUM 019CD
This is the second full-length release from Bonn-based DJ, producer and park ranger,
Dominik Eulberg
. For four years, Eulberg has been releasing on his home label, Traum. His previous nine 12"s, his
Nathan Fake
and
Cosmic Sandwich
remixes and, of course, his debut album
Flora & Fauna
have made him quite a hotbed of music, which has led to international praise for his unique brand of "wild life techno." The influence of nature (bird twitters, owl hoots, flowing water, crunching leaves) and other domestic sounds has made his music easy to identify with. "Heimische gefilde" means "native habitat," and this release takes the concept of his debut a step further and at the same time is a retrospective of his major hits. Tracks like "Die Rotbauchunken vom Tegernsee" and "Björn Borkenkäfer" are included here in unreleased edits that are even stronger than the originals, and as a bonus, previously vinyl-only track "Der Alpenstrandläufer von Spiekeroog" is now included on CD for the first time. Dominik Eulberg's music is much more than just a straight bass drum enriched with samples.
Heimische Gefilde
fully realizes Eulberg's pledge to mend contradictory parts of a whole: every track is presented, each animal is introduced by Dominik expressed in a lyrical, almost poetic form, ala old school National Geographic narrator. The album culminates in "Stelldichein des Westerwälder Vogelchores," a track that is definitely techno, but techno that is roused to life through its protagonists: 100% birds only, with no effects or additives. The first "acoustic" techno track ever. Synth-stabbed pure dance numbers are folded into introspective floor-throbbers so that each song is a wholly different animal all its own.
Heimische Gefilde
is danceable and natural: get out your field glasses.

Traum celebrates 10 years and their 100th vinyl release with a compilation CD chock full of unreleased tracks from artists that have been with them since the beginning:
Broker/Dealer
,
Fairmont
,
Gabriel Ananda
,
Jesse Somfay
,
Process
,
Dominik Eulberg
and
Thomas Brinkmann
. Traum also boasts a sampling from their current artist roster:
Moonbeam
,
Bukaddor & Fishbeck
,
Minilogue
and
Super Flu
. The West Coast duo Broker/Dealer opens the CD with a taste of their self-generated melodies that are as smooth and as colorful as ice cream reflecting the summer light. Dominik Eulberg's track is reminiscent of soundtrack music from a '70s hippie movie. Bukaddor & Fishbeck are new on Traum and their track highlights their stunning ability for creating dynamics through small details. Minilogue's "Carnival" is an electronic safari, stripped-down and rhythmical, as opposed to their post-trance past. Thomas Brinkmann returns with a high-energy groove monster with delicately deep moments that will suck you in. Dominik and Riley offer a mix featuring four instruments playing the original melody in variations, creating a euphoric madness. Super Flu's track is a strong tool with a murderous bass line that will corner the dancer on the floor. Moonbeam's super-sensual track is exceptionally cool -- all soft and sweet with melodies moving in slow motion. Gabriel Ananda serves up a fusion of post-Detroit rock mixed with cool melodies. Fairmont works his melodic sequencer on a driven epic which comes here in an edited form to be later released in a longer version. Process aka
Steve Barnes
has done it again with a super-smooth and contemplative groover that reminds us of the early days of house and techno, when music was a playground for feelings without the pressure of commerce. To the past, and the future, and 100 more.

This is the debut full-length release from The Netherlands'
Applescal
. Even after releasing only one 12" on Traum, the label is confident that this young artist embodies the new wave in indie electronic dance music -- a hunch now given some weight after Applescal was voted "Producer of the Year" in his home country. On
A Slave's Commitment
, he combines melodic electronics and dance tracks with grunge, creating an almost live-band sound. There is a lot of explosive youthfulness here, reflecting newer heroes and influencers like
Apparat
and
Extrawelt
, rather than
Richie Hawtin
or
Ricardo Villalobos
. The CD starts off with the beautiful track "The History Of Love," making the world feel like it's twisting in slow-motion. "Nottingham Hobbits" transports and extends a similar emotion, whereas "Ugly But Nasty" introduces dirty acid bass lines, reminiscent of his Traum 12" track, "Monster." "In The Mirror" has a bit more of a band approach, sounding like
The Cure
,
My Bloody Valentine
or
Red Lorry Yellow Lorry
, and carrying a ghostly atmosphere with chords and feedback. "Music For Her Ears" is the ambient piece... a bit of a sad and melancholic track that somehow connects modern electronica with piano. "I Can't Stand" also works with ambience, but rocks away into a sort of a shuffle beat. "The Forms Of Abstract Life" is a masterpiece, intimately visualizing the beauty of flowers and nature. "The Red Dress" is a noise interlude -- psychedelic, alienated and strange. "Funk and FC" is a grinding acid track that starts quiet and works with a classic build-up, getting frantic and noisy. Applescal also remixed a track by the Dutch band
Local Daddies
, using the vocals and bass of the original and changing everything else around it, giving it a
Portishead
twist. The album closes with "Reeeer," a melodic and comic track that swallows everything in its path, like a colorful and happy/sad
Aphex Twin
.

The Netherlands'
Applescal
presents a hotly-anticipated second full-length album for Traum. These new tracks are cinematic, with moods ranging from uplifting and joyful to dark, melancholic and claustrophobic ones. Working on a stronger conceptual level has allowed Applescal to pull all the tricks out of the bag. "The Curle In Me" is a driving, quirky drum and bass sort of track that works with a disturbing deepness and melancholy. "A Former Curse" is a short interlude which sounds like a falling star, tumbling and spinning around its own axis until it is burned out. "Dialeague" is a heavy and mighty grinding caterpillar of a track, and "The Key Of Genes" features a superbly-composed melody with unearthly,
Aphex Twin
-like attachment. "MC Iron" feels like a trip through an impenetrable jungle, full of beauty and tension, while "IB OK" is full of droning noises, engine-like, heavily spinning until it gives up its life. "Roofs Of Heaven" is a piece of heavy, Detroit-touched psychedelic rock with great organ parts and feedback. "The Flop" feels like a hard and edgy piece of metal and its beat is like a smack in the face. Hard to imagine that it it turns to Krautrock after that. "Black Spirals" is almost a piece of easy listening with very sweet moments and hilarious changes of patterns and dynamics. "Door Weer En Wind" has a cinematic soundtrack feel -- almost classic electronica a la

This is the fourth full-length release from Bonn-based DJ, producer and park ranger,
Dominik Eulberg
. After the
Heimische Gefilde
(TRAUM 019CD) album, which won the German critic award as the first techno album ever on which comments by the artist himself appear in spoken word, Eulberg has this time aimed at an album which embodies various facets of electronic music.
Diorama
therefore resembles something totally new and original and can be referred to as an affiliation towards the real "authentic" Eulberg sound cosmos. He has accomplished this with the highest possible standard and contemporary sound aesthetic. Eulberg has set the bar at an extreme height for himself and the result will pile-drive even the die-hard fans into solid, rocky soil. Eulberg has unbuttoned his "techno coat" and has come up with timeless electronica no one would have expected of him. It is his first album where he has rather
played
music instead of manipulating it and it holds up that skill from the very beginning to the very end, non-stop. For
Diorama
, Dominik Eulberg has selected, in cooperation with Germany's nature magazine
NABU
, the 11 greatest wonders of domestic nature, because it is not only in exotic parts of the world that one can find incredible innovations of nature -- they can also be found at your front door. Their existence is concealed from many of us and only by means of closer examination and a raised awareness for their secrets can we discover this world full of miracles. For this world of hidden wonders, a graphic diorama was specially designed, depicting a well-known world full of unknown phenomena. For each wonder, Dominik Eulberg has composed a piece of music which reflects in sound and dynamic the accounted wonder.

"If there is such as a figurehead of the new evolving Canadian /American clicks & cuts techno scene, it could be Tomas Jirku. His unique sounding tracks are based on samples culled from his favorite funk and pop tunes, and then processed to such an extreme degree that the original is indiscernible. Jirku combines dub elements with haunting rhythms to reconstruct a sound which is influenced by Cologne's minimalism, English pop culture and US house music. His quality relies heavily on his clever and fast programming and his experience in club culture resulting in tracks almost indeterminable for listeners. His newest release on Traum highlights this quality, nevertheless concentrates on the more smooth, stable, and bass-y tracks opposed to his more clickery tracks."

The record comes with two very different mixes, the 'Harmony Mix' being rather soulful and deep but funky with q cool piano and short string parts the 'Sequenzer Mix' on the flipside instead is rather nervous and reflect more speed and direct energy, including vocals by Triple R.

His project as Echopilot differs from his techno project as Brian Aneurysm as far as he now uses German voice with an 'American accent' in a rather explicit way and breaks the rhythm in funky bits rather than diggin' the 4/4 beat throughout his tracks. Within 4 tracks he develops charming and crass passages, creating with 'Opticalcentre' a comparison with Isolees 'Beau Mon Plage'. 'Sylphen' is in contrast to his debut record, one which is reflecting to 100% his energetic complex almost jazzy way of making music. Untamed and ruthless, still controlled, 'Squonk' is the primetime rhythm-rocker of his new set of songs. Totally different is 'Yngoor' which klings more to the 'Polar 2' episode, a roaring techno animal, whereas 'Puk' is a melodic tree which leaves us with no words to comment on."

His debut EP on Traum seems to be his interpretation of Traum's Latin America roots fused with a good portion of his machine ridden rhythm patterns and twisted electronic sounds that evolve and change during the track enormously. The a-side: 'Monsters Make Love to(k)night' is a classic Traum piece of music, romantic but still track enough to make it in the DJ case and on the floors of those who know. The tracks on the flipside: 'Boys Don´t Cry Tomorrow' and 'Girls We Loved Yesterday' are more typical for Popnebo and will add a harsher edge to the sweetness of the his newest track to date: 'Monsters Make Love to(k)night'."

Traum was very delighted to receive a demo by Mr Fake and instantly agreed on an EP. For our label Traum, that is running for seven years, highlighting melodies and grooves in one cosmos it is a natural progression to take on an artist that has similar ideas but fuses them in a universal and delicate manner. The 12 minute long epic track 'Dinamo' to speak with the words of Nathan Fake is one of the best 'house' tracks he has done so far. Still quite electronic and more than that, it is as hypnotic as the movement of a snake and is comparable to the best of Mathew Johnson's tracks around. On the flipside Nathan Fake has recorded an true acid track with tricky bits a 303 cannot by itself and a track where he sings on and which highlight a bit of the spirit of the a-side in a deeper state of mind."

Dominik Eulberg & Michael Mayer remixes. "After the success of the original 'Dinamo' by Nathan Fake, Traum presents the remixes. Both are different in style from the original track and different in their original version, Dominik Eulberg created a dynamic rhythm monster out of the very universal and genre breaking 'Dinamo,' a track which has started up a discussion worldwide of what the track reminded people of. A magic seems to be connected with the track and so it seems very hard to remix this opus. On the other hand, the euphoria over the music has solved this problem quickly. Dominik Eulberg has taken the track to a stage which is more Chicago than London, pumping up the rhythm section, seeming to go nowhere than into the clouds of the fog on the dancefloor... the pounding beats of the night in the blood of a person who loves to play the big floors. Other than that we see on the flipside Michael Mayer with his elegant and pop-fed deep mix of 'Coheed,' highlighting that wonderful track in a new light and strengthening the value it deserves rather than being the small brother of 'Dinamo' for the rest of its life. The track seems to be now an independent track, with a quality of its own with other values! Michael Mayer plays with the beauty, melody and deepness of 'Coheed.' Enjoy the Traum-ride!"

Kramel being famous for his surreal techno and rocking house, releases regally on Firm under the name of Safari and Andrè Kraml. André is also one of Germany's leading sound designers. Producing the sound design for German and international movies. In his remix of 'der purpurrote sonnenuntergang am schilfsumsäumten bergsee' he uses nature sounds as well as pounding basslines and snippets of vocals (by Schad Privat; MC from Schaeben und Voss). His trippy sounds are used to created a journey in sound alongside stomping beats, slowly accelerating and escalating in a fantastic after-hour melody... somehow Spanish flavored. Justin Maxwell, who releases regularly on John Tejada's Palette Recordings, has remixed 'die invasion der taschenkrebse.' His remix results in a robotic but hypnotic and dark techno track. The A-side features remute's remix of 'die trottelummen von helgoland' one of the big hits on the album being played by Sven Väth and others a lot. Remute, who is also known under Error Error on Italic, has produced a dramatic percussive track with strong cut ups. His robotic 'trottelummen' sounds and breaks... build up into a frantic sequencer-driven techno track in the end. Big floor techno! Hrdvsion's remix of 'das röhren der rotwildbrunft' is a strong deconstruction of the Dominik Eulberg original, cutting up every single channel and adding plugins in an Aphex Twin/Akufen manner. His track is an experiment with software including genre crossing elements. Hrdvsion has recorded several records on Plak, itiswhatitis and will record an Wagon Repair later this year. Last but not least Adam Kroll delivers a remix of 'kein nieten bei den herbseitlosen,' less cut-up and deconstructed than the original and more in the vein of his previous records on Traum."

"The Canadian Jesse Somfay, an all dressed in black musician with shoulder length blond hair and razor sharp dialogues, cuts though with a twisted, big time sound. His second Traum release
We Breathe the Stars Through Each Other
is a great momentum of a throbbing, energetic flow of energy...emerging in a modern version of Velvet Underground's 'While Light White Heat.' Jesse's tracks are digital feedback club music, relentless and without fear, endless, limited to nothing but its sounds and resources... A cosmic avalanche... A wall of sound...a signal of life ...communication! 'This Fragile Addiction' is an epic, drugged out, mental journey into a world full of nothing but warm, enveloping and shimmering sunlight reminiscent of shoegaze bands like My Bloody Valentine, Slowdive and Lush and also space rock bands such as Sigur Ros and Explosions In the Sky. 'For One Brief Moment, I Was There' is a melancholy cloud of crisp and chilling melodies with shattered and stuttering percussion. Jesse brings together his favorite spacy indie rock sounds with the drive of electronic dance music to bring a completely unique and ecstatic experience to the dance floor. His only goal is to make quality emotionally thrilling music which is completely genre defying.
We Breathe The Stars Through Each Other
has a lot in common with James Holden and Friends working on sounds, overtaking the whole track killing minimal music for a second. But his tracks also reveal some of the past of minimal music and how it used to be with techno."

In comparison to his previous releases his style has changed slightly. Both tracks on the Traum v66 act more rhythmically and consist of funk from head to toe. Markus Müller is all groove and his music is made up of house feeling. He lets beats rotate and bass drums hop. His A-side track 'Chives' lives to a considerably extent from a Latin influence which reminds of 'Beaumont Plage' from Isolee. The track fascinates with its complex melodic behavior but still has a very catchy tune. In contrary the flipside track 'Chop' is clearly a reduced rhythm track. A DJ tool which rocks."

The flipside 'Der Totenkopfschwärmer im Bienenstock' is a strong techno track with glitches and superb breaks. It evolves into a strong bassline driven track, that highlights the quality of modern techno sound design and arrangement!"

"Dub Kult aka Neilon Pitamber from London had his debut record out on Warp's new sub label Arcola, which was picked by DJs like Sven Väth, Ricardo Villalobos, Andrew Weatherall, the Raum Music DJs etc. Dub Kult's style is a combination of house and techno, can be quite edgy but at the same time he loves the playful and deep tech house. This contrast is easily perceivable in three facets on his debut EP on Traum. With his rocking A-side 'Twelve' and the Herbert flavored 'Chick' as well as the more electronic 'Slipping Away.'"

Harzer Roller
is the fist release produced by the newly formed duo Dominik Eulberg & Gabriel Ananda. It was created in the mountains of the Harz in Germany which Dominik and Gabriel visited when they took some time out from travelling and raving. They locked themselves up in a log cabin and produced till the morning sun appeared. A new era seams to have opened up for them. They fit perfectly to each other, Dominik with his love for detail & rave and Gabriel's affinity to deepness & melodies. The floating quality of the melodies mingling with the stabbing rhythm elements of Dominik Eulberg create a special psychedelic atmosphere. Both artists were influenced strongly by Sven Väth beginning of the '90s which you can feel in both of the tracks. From Dominik and Gabriel's point of view 'Harzer Roller' is a modern interpretation of trance."

Lars has recorded together before with various people releasing tracks on Freizeitglauben as Vanilla Krepp and on Electric Avenue as C.I.T. His Traum 12" resembles a unique fusion of '80s new wave influences with minimal techno that result in a Rockeria clash of unorthodox sounds and minimal rhythm patterns monotone and hypnotizing, creating the impossible. The A-side 'Blutrausch' (engl. Bloodlust), is an excursion with the speed of light into the past and then beamed back into the present. Yet no one has done this transfer in such an adventurous rush so far. The track fades out before it has even started, the feeling remains... what was that! Lars has a tight groove that rocks away like the Silver Surfer, incorporating sharp metallic sounds, cutting through it with the force and precision of an axe."

Triple LP version. The change in the style of the music coming out on Traum in the year 2005 is reflected in this brand new
Interkontinental 5
3LP. In the tradition of the annual
Interkontinental
series, number 5 is thoughtfully compiled by A & R head
Riley Reinhold
aka
Triple R
. In comparison to the previous
Interkontinental
releases, number 5 features the more dance-crazy side of the label, with a lot of new artists alongside the core artists:
Adam Kroll
who was very successful already this year with his
Godzilla
12";
Jesse Somfay
on the heels of new progressive techno in Canada;
Process
aka Steve Barnes using new technology for hi-tech ambience in techno;
Zentex
blends techno functionalism with unearthly strings.

Minilogue are masters of the build-ups, making their music an adventurous trip from powerful synth melody to seconds of silence. Germany-based Dominik Eulberg's two new tracks are not aggressive but euphoric open air slammers. They create goose pimples when the strings come into action. "Der Buchdrucker" is a party crasher in a big way, but a bit different from its predecessors -- more "Detroit," more dry, less playful. The record of course still holds sounds from the
Flora & Fauna
release for which Dominik is best-known. This time Dominik experimented with sounds from the forest, and the outcome is two very different tracks. The A-side track "Der Buchdrucker" works directly towards the exploding melody, and the B-side track "Björn Borkenkäfer" has a strong, classic Detroit influence.

Doch Doch
consists of heavy driving basslines, sound stabs and an eruptive wailing melody that builds up, generating a powerful rocker for the dance floor! "Last Past" is an electroish rhythm box sort of track, darkish and a night crawler... for the hours where the party is being generated by impulses. Just beats and stabs and howling dry sounds, low and just keeping the beat going.

Kenny Leaven is based in Erfurt, Germany, and this is his debut release for Traum. Leaven was raised on a diet of new wave and
Depeche Mode

"Feeling Spicy" starts with hammering beats and rough sequences, then suddenly breaks down and dives into a sweet melody which makes its way back into the strong hypnotic groove. "Feed Me Better" is for the later hours of the party -- a funky groove with darkish haunted sounds that fly in and out of the mix.

Extrawelt
project. They compose and produce in a big studio with lots of hardware, with a focus on sounds that can be comforting as well as a driving force.
Schmedding 8000
combines power with lush melodic moments. The A-side track defines itself though its bassline and quirky melody, sounding as if midgets were muttering words no one can understand. The flipside is more classic in its tension, as it slowly steers towards a pool of sequences that are beautiful in color and shape. Extrawelt's dramatic build-up is catchy and keeps the music slender, minimal, vital and techno.

Two tracks off of

's
Deine Beine
EP are remixed by
Dominik Eulberg
,
Max Cooper
, and
Mig Dfoe
. Eulberg's remix evokes
Aphex Twin
noise cascades and breakbeats with a psychedelic aura. Cooper uses his own voice on his lush remix, counteracted by a heavy bass line, dub elements and pop. Mexican artist Mig Dfoe's remix is a melancholic epic with sad organ sounds coming in waves, creating a world full of sound and color.

Dominik Eulberg
presents two new songs on
Perlmutt
. "Daten Übertragungs-Küsschen" is a bittersweet melody, as fairy-like and gentle as a light snowfall. In contrast, "Schnertuppen-Regen" keeps an eye on the clubby side of things with rectangular, sawtooth sequences, dubby rhythms and back and forth sliding sequences that seem to stem from ancient string instruments and show traces of popular German folk.

The title of
Max Cooper
's
Stochastisch Serie
EP refers to his use of stochastic methods, also known as non-deterministic or random methods of sound generation. The stochastic elements refer mainly to real vocal experiments matched with sampled sounds which create a rich complexity. His dancefloor rockers "Stochastisch Serie" and "Mnemonic" work in a more functional way, but do include bits of this randomness and therefore are part of the superstructure. The remix by
Leeks
is full of swing and groove.

The music of Chilean artist
Ricardo Tobar
is a constant search for something new -- sometimes it's brutally on the borders of noise, sometimes it's very melodic. The title track is strong, with lots of twists and a psychedelic energy-flow. The track moves mountains, combining slow-motion massiveness with sirens singing wonderful, unearthly melodies. Remixed by
Applescal
, and hailed by
De:Bug
's
Sascha Kösch
as one of the big hopes for 2010.

The Russian brothers
Moonbeam
were voted as one of the top 100 DJs worldwide by the UK's
DJ
mag, in December 2009. "Tiger" is sort of a hybrid of
Joey Beltram
's "Energy Flash" fuelled with melody and a lot of post-techno feeling. "Land Of The Lost" is a track that travels like a camera does, through different rooms in a deserted mansion. "Zoo" relies on its cool, driving sequences and the hypnotic feeling it creates through them.

Dominik Eulberg
is a techno artist who composes music out of classical elements such as melodies, analog synth sounds and self-made elements.
Rodriquez Jr.
's mix keeps the gentle touch of the original but adds a quirky element for a super-catchy groover.
Minilogue
use snippets of the song to create a stream of sound. Their thrilling jam session transforms the bloomy original into a dubby style of techno that would go along neatly with the Hardwax dub outputs.

The Hunger
with
Catherine Deneuve
and
David Bowie
at a
Bauhaus
concert. "Minertia" keeps a tight, rhythmic pattern alive, with plenty of distortion. "River Of Gold" features shiny melodies and lush, airy chord sequences that fly by like paper airplanes. This is balsam for your soul, a musical millipede massaging your spine.

The debut from

sees a sound evolving that is emotionally deep to the heart, masterfully produced and unique. "Stratus" moves like fog over woods and landscapes. It is rich and mighty in texture but light as well. It is somehow detached and at the same time very touching... a masterpiece of techno. One could say this is the Scandinavian ghost of early Detroit techno-soul -- listen to the magic of this epic.

's track "Distance" carries the haunted and ghostly feeling of the '80s, with spine-tingling melodies which have always been the strength of their music. "The Underwater World" dives headlong into deep, dubbed techno soaked in bass, while at the same time, unbelievably colorful melodies appear as friendly "invaders." This track is a masterpiece and will be transformed into a visual piece of art by Moonbeam themselves, on the day of the release.

Terry Riley

. "Enveloped" is much more detached and dream-like, incorporating all the strength and vitality of classical music.

Microtrauma
present their debut on Traum. "Saturation" makes a spiritual link to electronic avant-garde of the '70s, still feeding the techno corpus with enough heavy bass line and kick to tweak dancefloors. "Diffusion" is soulful as well, maybe more linear and even more ghostly and haunting, spiced up with electronic-sounding bass lines, filtered voices from the distance, heavy delays and a pounding techno beat. "Contrast" relies on a breakbeat and steers different levels at each time -- gloomy yet bright.

The track "Gravity's Rainbow" highlights the more stripped and pop-nurtured side of
Max Cooper
. Although seemingly light, this track is as complex as all of his work, using antagonistic elements such as golden, spine-tingling sounds that linger and a grand bass line melody that could be described as an award-winning hymn. TRAUM 137LP
2012 repress; 2LP version, featuring 8 out of the 11 tracks from the CD.

Minilogue
's "Let Life Dance Thru You" reveals itself as a "safari" of live played percussion, instruments and sounds. The duo create here a biotope of sounds that interact with each other -- like a live band would do -- at times almost Arabesque-sounding, this track is full of mysterious soundscapes, like a spiritual "voodoo session" from the '70s. "Drop The Mask Of Self Protection" could be described as a soundtrack for
Apocalypse Now
