This is the debut full-length release by France's Jean-Vincent Luccini aka Sarah Goldfarb, in partnership with his friend Jean-Christophe Hallary (JHK). Named after that old lady on speed from the movie Requiem For A Dream, the producer from Marseille loves puns, genre-defying credentials, and synthetic sounds with lots of thrust. Since 2003, Jean-Vincent has been producing quality techno as Sarah Goldfarb, endowing a long-ranging array of labels old and young with his hypnotic beat patterns. Heartbeat City was named after the seminal album by '80s new wave band The Cars (and reputedly, the song titles on Goldfarb's Heartbeat City are all taken from actual lyrics of actual Cars songs), and it isn't just the next logical step in a well-funded career, it's the result of a labor of love and the need to evolve musically. He invited a good friend and neighbor to his studio to help him with the album, the highly-talented but virtually unknown Jean-Christophe Hallary, and it took them both over half a year of intense bricolage. The final product, as detailed as it is accessible, is a multi-layered and danceable beast of an album, offering perfect dramaturgy and pin-pointed kicks galore. Berlin-based Sub Static co-owner Falko Brocksieper presents an album for Treibstoff. Generally, an album serves one of two functions. The first being a club-centric compilation that feels a lot like listening to six EPs one after another, resulting only in the reassurance that yes, this artist can still satisfy a dancefloor. The second works as a genuine exposé of an artist's creativity, music knowledge, and intelligence, but most of all reminds us that there is a human behind the music. Shortcake Strategy is Falko Brocksieper's third full-length and it exemplifies the ladder. Though the introduction might feel like a familiar place in between synthesizers and kick drums, it's merely a beginning; not at an indication of what is to follow. Within seconds of hearing "Avoid," it doesn't take long to acknowledge this is something truly different. Heavy Day (SUS 072CD/LP), Brocksieper's last album was released in 2008 on his own Sub-Static imprint. It was, like all of the releases before, high quality tech-house. It contained moments of song-like beauty, but nonetheless remained connected to a minimalistic approach. Five years later, Falko's growth is clear. On Shortcake Strategy, fairytale-like melodies are backed with thought-provoking harmonies that pave the way for an explicitly visual experience. We have been introduced to a new face of the Berlin-based producer. Shortcake is a simple recipe. It doesn't take a lot of planning or much thought or attention when preparing it, and in the end, it will be light, fluffy, sweet, and perfectly satisfying.

"Since 1988, Jens Zimmermann successfully cultivated quite some dance terrains. 'Sequenz 32' seems to have emanated from Zimmermann's private Area 51, in which Rhythm & Sound pimp up the 1975 era Tangerine Dream in terms of design values. You can hear that a man is at work who knows his stuff darn well and is safe in what he is doing. The production is brilliant, the selection of sounds superb, set-ups are constructed with caution, superimpositions are finely layered, propagations and ripenings are get going in a well-considered manner. The vibes flip diverse switches after a certain while. And these are not customary toggle switches, but in fact freely manoeuverable joysticks, for a remote-controlled crowd. Some enormous consequences of these sound aspects reveal over almighty loudspeakers. His serial killer groove presents cyborgs as tracks, featuring beats like axes, invents the industrial house subgenre in the blink of an eye, lets the mainframe breathing in fumes and plays suicide pong in gamers hell. Still his tracks stay sexy in a manic way and aim directly at your solar plexus, introducing themselves as some kind of revolutionary ballad for OS-tired robots with vocals by futurist junkies stuck on obscure substances from the rain forest. "The Barcelona-Cologne-Express rides again: Alecs Marta is in charge this time, the bustling Catalan with the stinging glance. As one half of the Swat Squad he may prefer to wander about in the suburbs of ornamentation but on his own he always enters competition through the front door. He isn't the loitering kind of guy anyway, which shows quite clearly in 'Ramper': this track drives on rails, a well lubricated hybrid confronting light-hearted and bouncy friendliness with demanding clarity. It's casual and focused at the same time, just as we come to expect from the Catalans as the 'Spanish Germans.' Quite a coincidence then that the remix descends from the South of Germany, bearing the trademark sounds of its producer Patrick Zigon. The guy that made good tracks into great ones at Cocoon or Kling Klong condenses the airier original to some sort of nightly tour de force, procuring tightly shaved beats and one hell of a massive bassline blanking the sky like a solar eclipse. Flash Grab Road is the story of a struggling taxi driver from Marseille who made electronic music in his spare time. After selling his taxi and record collection, he flew to Las Vegas, where he lost all of his money. The long descent into hell ended the day he found himself hitchhiking in Death Valley. A beautiful French tourist saved his life by welcoming him into her Cadillac. Thus the duo Flash Grab Road was born, combining exciting music with outrageous outfits.

Range Rover celebrated its new "Evoque" model by creating a special contest for music producers to submit music with the chance of being featured in one of their TV advertisements, plus a release on Treibstoff Recordings. Michael Nielebock was the chosen winner with his track "Pure Vision." The A-side contains the original track written by Nielebock with minor additions from Treibstoff founder Marcel Janovsky and DJ partner Gabriel Ananda, and the B-side includes a remix by Ananda. This is the first release on Treibstoff's limited series.
