"These live recordings of the 'Choirs and Solos' program were recorded on New Years eve 1983/84 within the framework of an accompanying program to the exhibition 'Der Hang zum Gesamtkunstwerk' (Tendency Towards Art as a Whole). The tender a cappella songs, which here as a rule are a little longer than the recordings on doll records had allowed become more and more drowned out by the celebrations of the crowd. But this is not that tragic, for the Tödliche Doris always liked to make room for others."

"Side 1 of the LP comprises full length versions of the the first two Storm Bugs singles; namely the 5 track Table Matters EP (1980) and the Metamorphose single (1981). Whilst tracks from these singles have appeared on compilations before, this is the first time they are being presented in their entirety. This means the first re-issue of the spoof industrial rockabilly track 'Tin' and the vocal version of 'Make Customer Matter.' The tracks have been digitally re-mastered from virgin un-played copies of the two discs. While side 1 displays Storm Bugs' now infamous post-punk DIY sound with much use of scratched vinyl, disemboweled radios and home made electronics, side 2 of the LP contains tracks made exclusively with the unique British synthesizer, the VCS3. The VCS3 has a matrix pin patch bay in which any module can be connected to any other module, resulting in complex feedback loops and unexpected modulations. The VCS3 tracks which include 'Hodge,' 'Slip Slap' and 'Hiemal (And She Blew)' are all taken from original Snatch Tapes cassette releases. "Gerechtigkeits Liga is the band/project which evolves around Till Brüggemann. In the early '80s, GL traveled to London to meet up with Domnik Guerin of Twin Vision/SPK. Dominik introduced them to Graeme Revell and Brian Williams of Lustmord, who were running Side Effects Records and both of them decided to release an album by GL. Two more GL tracks were also released on the seminal compilation Vhutemas Archetypi, which also featured groups like Laibach, Lustmord & SPK. Franck Lopez and the other band members have dug into their archives and compiled a great selection from their very rare tapes plus other treasures in parallel to its official vinyl/CD discography, Opera Multi Steel recorded during the '80s several K7 tapes including many unreleased tracks: Autres Appels (1985), Eternelle Tourmente (1986), OMS/Modern Art (1987), Je Regarde La Pluie (1987), Regret Qui S'écaille (1987). Those K7's were home-duplicated in those times in very limited quantities (between 100 and 300 copies). "Lest We Forget is a collection compiled from the earliest recordings by Nocturnal Emissions, a group founded by Nigel Ayers, his brother Daniel Ayers and Caroline K in 1980. It is comprised of material previously only available on cassettes as well as tracks recorded under their earlier name, The Pump. The Nocturnal Emissions were active in what has been known as 'cassette culture' and explored the medium of underground cassette exchange in parallel with their better known vinyl releases and live performances. They used the available technology of the day in a spirit which seems to have anticipated modern social networking through the Internet. This series of documents offers a rare glimpse at audio sketchbooks; raw, unfinished works-in-progress and live performances by the group. It covers a wide range of musical style by a group who were committed to radical experimentation in both form and content. The box set also contains some previously unreleased tracks from the early '80s which sound surprisingly contemporary and fresh. The group has undergone several mutations since these early recordings and continued into 21st century as a solo project by Nigel Ayers. Caroline K left the group in 1984 and produced one solo album before adopting a more private life. She remained a good friend and lived in England, Sri Lanka, and finally in Italy. She married Danny Ayers in 2001. While the edit of this collection was being assembled, she took ill with leukemia and died during hospital treatment a few days later. Caroline's distinctively moody electronics, vocals and bass guitar feature strongly on these albums. We offer this box set as a tribute to her life and work." "Much of the music included in this set is exclusive to this vinyl version of Miscellany. Andrew Liles has compiled a comprehensive anthology including as much varied, interesting and unreleased material as possible. He spent many an afternoon sifting through piles of cassettes seeking the oldest and arguably most definitive pieces of music from literally hundreds of hours of tape. The earliest recordings on these discs date back to 1984. 'Find a New Husband' was made on Liles' fathers very cheap Amstrad tape-to-tape system. The tape machine ceased to work properly shortly thereafter. This track was the result or many hours of rewinding and re-playing and re-recording, and thus began Liles fascination, obsession and addiction with tape-manipulation, sound FX and recording techniques. Listening back to some of these works reminds us of the archaic and laborious fashion in which music used to be created and assembled. In hindsight the merits of working with tape compared to digital technologies seem to be the random nature of what would happen. Tape bleed, mishaps, the low-fi quality and errors seemed to give unique and often unpredictable results. Many of Andrew Liles' early experimentations and accidental consequences are included in this collection. Also included are selections from his two self-released cassettes under the name Lividity. The Lividity tapes were given away to friends and sent as demos to assorted labels. Some 20 years later it is very doubtful that any of them exist other than the two remaining copies Andrew Liles has kept tucked away in some forgotten corner."

"Superb compilation of French cold-wave/goth legend Norma Loy starting with their very first recorded track from '81 to unreleased demos/rehearsals/live to unreleased treasures. In 1981, Usher and Chelsea formed Norma Loy. The band launched its first EP, the first one of its cold-wave-kind in France. Norma Loy searched for their identity and multiplied there experiences on the side, leading to the creation in 1984 of their own label, CPM, which produced a second EP distributed by New Rose: Psychic Altercation whose 'psychoanalytic rock' gave the setting for later productions. CPM developed its own philosophy and centralized the different activities of the group (musical and non musical ones: (photo)graphic ones, literature, video making, dance etc...) and controls the entire artistic production (recordings, LP covers, song books...). A particular emphasis was drawn on the concerts mixing music and slide projections. "Shadows out of Time is a collection of three LPs with unreleased and formerly cassette-only material from Hunting Lodge, representing the first blush of their creativity, a time when each sonic experiment festered into a beautiful sore. Dark ambient, noise, power electronics, all represented here before these pigeons had holes in which to fit. One LP is comprised of the now-legendary Exhumed, which was formerly released cassette-only, heard here in better shape than ever - direct-metal mastered from the original two-track mixes. The second LP is all unreleased material, highlights of which include never-heard gems from the recordings for the promotional cassette 23 Minutes Of Murder. On the flip-side, both literally and figuratively, are the electro-disco-teckno recordings used for intermission music at Hunting Lodge live shows in 1983. The French artist and autodidact Ghedalia Tazartes who is born in Paris in 1947 is a true nomad spending more than 30 years within musical practice and experimentation. Ghedalia is the orchestra and a pop group all in one person: the self is multitude and others, freely connecting the sounds, the rhythms, his voice, his voices. The extra-European music opens the ear to Ghedalia's intra-European exotism. The permanent metamorphosis is a principle of composition; it escapes control, refuses classification, diametrical to the purists of synthetic culture and technocrates of noise. He wanders through music from chant to rhythm, from one voice to another. Utilizing magnetic tape recorders, he paves the way for the electric and the vocal paths, between the muezzin psalmody and the screaming of a rocker. He traces vague landscapes where the mitre of the white clown, the plumes of the sorcerer, the helmet of a cop and Parisian anhydride collide into polyphonic ceremonies. This box concentrates on his early works from 1977-1979 and his four officially released vinyl-LP's plus a 10" of an unreleased work from 1978.
