Artist: DIE TODLICHE DORIS
Title: Live - SO 36 Berlin 19.11.1982
Label: VINYL ON DEMAND (GERMANY)
Format: LP
Price: $21.00
Catalog #: VOD 001.5LP
Originally issued as a cassette in 1982. 180 gram pressing, numbered to 500 copies. "On this live recording which first appeared as a bootleg cassette, which the Tödliche Doris bootlegged themselves, one hears Käthe Kruse on drums alongside Wolfgang Müller and Nikolaus Utermöhlen. The group sounds astoundingly powerful and expressive, surprisingly close to rock or rather industrial music. As special guest a kettle appeared on stage with ist own microphone and spotlight, which began to whistle at the beginning of the song 'Die sieben tödliche Unfälle im Haushalt' (The Seven Deadly Accidents in The Home)."

Artist: DIE TODLICHE DORIS
Title: Chore & Soli - Live im Delphi-palast Sylvester 83/84
Label: VINYL ON DEMAND (GERMANY)
Format: LP
Price: $21.00
Catalog #: VOD 001.6LP
Originally issued on cassette, 1984. 180 gram pressing, numbered to 500 copies. "These live recordings of the 'Choirs and Solos' program were recorded on New Years eve 1983/84 within the framework of an accompanying program to the exhibition 'Der Hang zum Gesamtkunstwerk' (Tendency Towards Art as a Whole). The tender a cappella songs, which here as a rule are a little longer than the recordings on doll records had allowed become more and more drowned out by the celebrations of the crowd. But this is not that tragic, for the Tödliche Doris always liked to make room for others."

Artist: KOPP, HERMANN
Title: Japgirls in Synthesis
Label: VINYL ON DEMAND (GERMANY)
Format: LP
Price: $21.00
Catalog #: VOD 002LP
"Hermann Kopp, known for his work with the great German band Keine Ahnung and his two marvelous highly collectable Solo-Project-Records in the beginning/mid of eighties is back. His sound is still as strange as always, deep minimal sounds mixed together with a cocktail of avant garde and his astonishing voice, undefinable, it is just Hermann Kopp, nothing comparable to his style which attracts avant garde collectors and minimal-freaks." All VOD LP releases are on 180 gram vinyl, in #'d editions of 500 copies.

Title: Wahrnehmungen 1980/1981
Label: VINYL ON DEMAND (GERMANY)
Format: 3LP BOX
Price: $65.00
Catalog #: VOD 018LP
"Members of the group P.D. (later renamed P16.D4) founded the label Selektion in 1980. Using the name Wahrnehmungen the label released nineteen cassettes in 1980/1981. The tapes mostly presented experimental projects by members of the group and their collaborators. This set features five of these cassettes, each taking one LP-side. LP-side 6 can be seen as a virtual cassette: P16.D4 recordings from 1981, here released for the first time ever. Including Ertrinken Vakuum: Kurzschluss, LLL: Permutative Distorsion: Der Apathische Alptraum, P16.D4." Beautiful LP box construction, with full jackets for each LP, and a historical booklet (in English/German) -- this label really knows how to put together a package.

Artist: DIE TÖDLICHE DORIS
Title: Welten - Worlds - Ohontsa'shón:'a
Label: VINYL ON DEMAND (GERMANY)
Format: LP
Price: $21.00
Catalog #: VOD 019LP
"Early eighties sound-project and conceptual work from 1984 also known as 'Gerry Belz'. Worlds of music ringed out on our planet. Simultaneously blown out, not attuned but still tuned incidentally, partly at on purpose. In 1984, Die Tödliche Doris was given the chance for such a coincidence of two different worlds. They were invited to compose the music for a fashion-show in the Deplane Kunsthalle Berlin. For the first time, this fully documented composition consists of 24 Audiotapes with sounds and music-recordings which were recorded and then played with different technically defect tape-recorders and which were accompanied of the band 'Gerry-Belz-Showband' which has been selected from the employment-office in Berlin. The repertoire of the three elderly men did consist of the usually well-known evergreens of entertainment and light-music.

Die Tödliche Doris is sometimes referred to an industrial-band. In fact, the group has played and cooperated with SPK and Twin Vision. If there is any music of the band which can be referred to Industrial, then it is this project here, which was only released in certain pieces to this point."

This more expensive version includes a 2LP, which is a longer, and a different recording. It's a little confusing what the differences are between the two versions, the label described it to us like this: "The Lp-2 Set is an audience performance, a bit rougher but longer (e.g. Einstürzende Neubauten 'Kollaps' is 7 minutes on DVD/CD but 10 minutes on Lp) J and it contains bonus to the CD/DVD (CD/DVD appr. 70 minutes each, 2LP 2 is 100 minutes in total)."

Price: $80.00
Catalog #: VOD 024LP
Viva Negativa! A Tribute To The New Blockaders including. collaborations with/reworkings by 75 avant garde/industrial/noise artists. 2 volumes, 4LPs each. Typically insane presentation from VOD! Each set numbered to 500 copies. "The New Blockaders were one of the UK's most consistently defiant and formally hostile experimental groups. Starting with their name, they combined a masked mythology with a militant anti-art/anti-music stance which manifested itself in a series of obliterating aural documents. For all their lack of any public profile, TNB have had an absurdly disproportionate influence over the development of noise music." --The Wire. Artist: STORM BUGS
Title: Supplementary Benefit
Label: VINYL ON DEMAND (GERMANY)
Format: LP
Price: $23.00
Catalog #: VOD 044LP
"Side 1 of the LP comprises full length versions of the the first two Storm Bugs singles; namely the 5 track Table Matters EP (1980) and the Metamorphose single (1981). Whilst tracks from these singles have appeared on compilations before, this is the first time they are being presented in their entirety. This means the first re-issue of the spoof industrial rockabilly track 'Tin' and the vocal version of 'Make Customer Matter.' The tracks have been digitally re-mastered from virgin un-played copies of the two discs. While side 1 displays Storm Bugs' now infamous post-punk DIY sound with much use of scratched vinyl, disemboweled radios and home made electronics, side 2 of the LP contains tracks made exclusively with the unique British synthesizer, the VCS3. The VCS3 has a matrix pin patch bay in which any module can be connected to any other module, resulting in complex feedback loops and unexpected modulations. The VCS3 tracks which include 'Hodge,' 'Slip Slap' and 'Hiemal (And She Blew)' are all taken from original Snatch Tapes cassette releases. This is the first time most have appeared on vinyl, and of course this means the gorgeous heavyweight VOD vinyl we have come to know and love." Numbered edition of 600.

One side from a long lost Knees and Bones session, one side of pre-industrial music, live at CBGBs supporting Suicide 1979, one side a 25-minute live piece of ancient, very good material from 1977 (sounds like John Cage/Penderecki), one side of free jazz live improvisation with Borbetomagus, one side new total noise, etc. This is one of those very very extreme (if not most extreme) VOD releases and VOD rates it 'PG18.'"

Title: Adenoids 1977-1985
Label: VINYL ON DEMAND (GERMANY)
Format: 5LP BOX
Price: $140.00
Catalog #: VOD 049LP
"Contains earliest tracks from '77-'81 plus tracks from the Terse releases Ear Bitten & Clean, the long lost side 3 tape, Blubberknife, Cheesecake and various other tracks from '83-'85. To describe this treasure it is best to state what Tom Ellard had to say: 'And here we have it - the ultimate produce of the new millennium. A box of vinyl discs with music from as much as thirty years ago. Could something express any less faith in the future? My guess is that we seek to capture some "purity" that has since been encrusted with quibbles. It's a hopeless fetish that leads in an ever contracting spiral -- music is born continuously and defies attempts to capture it in decorative tombs. Nevertheless. We have here a very decorative tomb. Music made from 1977 onwards by people who would be identified for a time as "Severed Heads." Much is by Richard Fielding who left in 1982. Some by Andrew Wright, gone in 1980. Some by Bradbury, left in 1985, Deering also. In each case, the music has been taken from the best copy, cleaned only as much as needed and organized to fit onto long-playing vinyl. It is ancient, funny, half-arsed, crinkly, clever and juvenile. It was compiled by a prick. All proceeds will be spent by Fielding on horse races. Buy two because they will wear out.'"

Artist: EXPERIMENTAL PRODUCTS
Title: Prototype -- Plus Garage Tracks
Label: VINYL ON DEMAND (GERMANY)
Format: 2LP
Price: $40.00
Catalog #: VOD 051LP
"A 12" vinyl, double record set containing the music of Experimental Products. If you are a long time collector of '80s indie minimal synth looking to fill out your catalog, or a novice interested in starting one up, there is no better place to start than with Experimental Products. A synth duo from Philadelphia/northern Delaware USA, members Mark Wilde and Michael Gross produced 8-track gear recordings, then had their music pressed to vinyl. In 1984 they released the 3-song 12" EP Glowing in the Dark, 2000 copies. Glowing proved irresistible to DJs and became a 1985 dance club chart breakthrough. Today, many DJs and collectors consider it a 'classic' synth record. Two years before Glowing, they released a 10-song LP titled Prototype, 300 copies. Prototype remained an obscure record until minimal synth collectors caught wind of it in the late '90s. Prototype became a high-priced bidding item whenever the rare vinyl showed up on eBay. It seems Experimental Products had again produced what many collectors consider a 'classic' '80s minimal synth record. VOD is now pleased to announce the reissue of Prototype to high quality vinyl. Remastered by VOD from the original 1/4" master tapes, this reissue has improved sonic quality not found on the original 1982 pressings. Own it now, experience it for yourself. Prototype will be LP-1 side A+B of the VOD double record set. Garage Tracks, LP-2 of the Experimental Products record set will hopefully become yet another classic piece of synthesizer vinyl. A 'garage track' is described by M. Gross as a primitive to semi-pro sound recording not necessarily intended for public distribution. Originally intended or not, VOD now offer them to the synth-loving public. Garage Tracks side-A contains 5 unreleased songs from 1985, all synth-drum machine, again produced with 8-track gear this time in a band spare bedroom. Anyone familiar with the band can expect more Experimental Products brilliance. Garage Tracks side-B contains six songs from a 1983 live performance. There are live versions of 4 songs from Prototype, an unreleased song, and the song 'Mannequin' from the Glowing EP."

Artist: GERECHTIGKEITS LIGA
Title: Per Ignem Ad Lucem
Label: VINYL ON DEMAND (GERMANY)
Format: 2LP/DVD
Price: $45.00
Catalog #: VOD 052LP
"Gerechtigkeits Liga is the band/project which evolves around Till Brüggemann. In the early '80s, GL traveled to London to meet up with Domnik Guerin of Twin Vision/SPK. Dominik introduced them to Graeme Revell and Brian Williams of Lustmord, who were running Side Effects Records and both of them decided to release an album by GL. Two more GL tracks were also released on the seminal compilation Vhutemas Archetypi, which also featured groups like Laibach, Lustmord & SPK. The band is known for their mystical, almost martial and epic sounds, which can easily upset the listeners' emotions. Nothing for weak nerves. VOD and TB compiled a perfect supplement to the LP Hypnotischer Existenzialismus. The double LP set covers the very early musical period of the band, including outtakes, tape-contributions, a live performance from L.A., as well as a Berlin atonal performance. Attached, you will also find a DVD with disturbing footage of early video clips, a short film, as well as some other rare live video clips from New York City. The release is housed in a silk-screened army boot bag."

Artist: ETANT DONNES
Title: Tapes 1977-1983
Label: VINYL ON DEMAND (GERMANY)
Format: 6LP BOX/DVD
Price: $170.00
Catalog #: VOD 053LP
6LP leather box with DVD. "The box provides all of Etant Donnes' avant-garde tapes released between 1977 and 1983 on the famous French BainTotal-Label Recordings including: La Vue, L'opposition, L'etoile Au Front, Ceux Qu'on Aime - Ce Que Je Hais, Cinq Portes Soudees, Les Cents Jours Clairs. The release also contains a DVD with live performances of Etant Donnes over the last three decades. The music of this Etant Donnés' first period (1977-1983) boxset describes a rite of passage from mortality to divinity, a powerful but hidden passion craving beauty and burning love that can be conquered only by another form of secret pain, that of losing yourself in the cosmos and becoming part of the muddy streams of distant stars. Their soundworks are constructed through the manipulation of natural sounds, using the variation of velocity and intensity of the recordings, the cutting and splicing of tape. Etant Donnes' compositions are passionate and brutally communicative, their music and words are minimalist just like the writings and chants of the religious mystics Sufi, trying to recover the virginity of the words and sounds, they map new territories and establish their own personal rules. These first tracks contains all the brutal collages of found sounds investigating nuances of sounds that at times verges upon silence, the inspired and enraptured meeting with earth's natural forces, an homage to the shadow of night, to the vineyard and the golden door. In these first six LPs Etant Donnés' create their own brand of total audio expression using belches and punches, their attention is concentrated on the symphonic cacophonie organisation of disorganized found sounds, using magical rhythms only directed by cosmic rules. A perfect way of organizing natural sounds that obeys fundamental principles that everyone wishes to convey, a music able to tear down walls and build a universal comprehension, a cosmic law of beauty, a magical and alchemical act of poetry."

The Nocturnal Emissions were active in what has been known as 'cassette culture' and explored the medium of underground cassette exchange in parallel with their better known vinyl releases and live performances. They used the available technology of the day in a spirit which seems to have anticipated modern social networking through the Internet. This series of documents offers a rare glimpse at audio sketchbooks; raw, unfinished works-in-progress and live performances by the group. It covers a wide range of musical style by a group who were committed to radical experimentation in both form and content. The box set also contains some previously unreleased tracks from the early '80s which sound surprisingly contemporary and fresh. The group has undergone several mutations since these early recordings and continued into 21st century as a solo project by Nigel Ayers. Caroline K left the group in 1984 and produced one solo album before adopting a more private life. She remained a good friend and lived in England, Sri Lanka, and finally in Italy. She married Danny Ayers in 2001. While the edit of this collection was being assembled, she took ill with leukemia and died during hospital treatment a few days later. Caroline's distinctively moody electronics, vocals and bass guitar feature strongly on these albums. We offer this box set as a tribute to her life and work." Includes Dyskinesia, The Fight Goes On/Duty Experiment, Deathday/Outtakes, Whisky/Recordings By The Pump, plus booklet.
