Artist: MINILOGUE
Title: The Girl From Botany Bay
Label: WIR (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $10.00
Catalog #: WIR 001EP
"We finally proudly announce the new sub-label of Cologne's legendary Treibstoff Imprint 'WIR' which stands for 'Wir im Rhythmus.' The first release by Minilogue (Traum) already got enthusiastic response by a mass jocks and media such as Ivan Smagghe, Laurent Garnier, Funk D Void. Before to convince you with distribution rap that probably you'd think is too good to be true, here's Funk D Void's words that say much more about this great start release than I could ever write: 'My favorite of the box. Got a touch of Border Community about it, which can only be a good thing. More melody, bass emotion. And what a production. What mastering software gets a kick that loud? I'm such a geek. Both tracks rock my world.'"

Artist: G-MAN
Title: The Way You Move
Label: WIR (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $10.00
Catalog #: WIR 002EP
"Famous old warhorses are back again: instead of letting crackling tediousness govern the world of sound, G-Man shows how music sounds like in your dreams: freshly polished grooves, romanticized soundscapes...so, no better reason for the next open-air season. While the fog is sinking down over the blue-green lake, the searchers start dancing, impatiently waiting for one of these nights that you will never forget. Close-contact-dance techno loves you, and WE do love you, too. This music is for breathing, cuddling and having a party, like the earlier generation taught us. Techno has got a soul again and will make us happy. This is music worth dreaming about."

Artist: JACK ROCK
Title: Big Chunks of Love
Label: WIR (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $10.00
Catalog #: WIR 003EP
"No doubt, love is a big thing. Jack Rock, producer, DJ and sound designer for scenography seems to be blessed with it and now, his debut release presents us really huge bits of love...The coolest name of the DJ culture already indicates the producer's passion for the explicit non-minimal sound. The bass of 'Big Chunks of Love' feels like a happy, well-placed punch in your stomach while the hot, dramaturgic curve of this smart track will make your will-less sweat vaporize almost immediately. 'Big Chunks of Love' is the best Westcoast House track that has not been produced in the Bay Area. And moreover, it proves that Aarhus( =Year House), reportedly Jack Rock's hometown, represents the hottest style for a unique version of House music. The consequence of a track that will blast everything off and away is to have the effects documented on to its environment: 'Crazy' stores the full dance-floor energy like a heat accumulator, yet as a coherent antithesis, it projects the shadows of a vast, lumbered area that is enhanced by a smart Detroit feeling."

Artist: MI MUSIK
Title: How Much Time Means Forever
Label: WIR (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $10.00
Catalog #: WIR 004EP
"A young label needs young talents. A good label needs good music. And Wir needs euphoria! And here is Mi Musik, newcomer from Madrid, with everything and even more a fantastic 12" needs to be released on Cologne's role-model label: the A-side 'How Much Time Means...' at first defines the stream course in order to smoothly create a real catchy tune on a seducingly dry basis. Classic chords anticipate its inherent hit potential while the beats are precisely rolling through the registers. This man was born with a drum machine in his head! The B-side 'Microfrescor' is a thrilling ride and kicks off a highly enjoyable will-o-wisping in the frequency spectrum that will surely get the party going. Minimalism has never been so emotional, so sexy and so incredibly funky!"

Artist: NARCOTIC SYNTAX
Title: Provocative Percussion
Label: WIR (GERMANY)
Format: 2LP
Price: $20.00
Catalog #: WIR 005LP
"If you think you've heard (and danced to) everything -- including records which we describe as 'the most unusual vinyl a DJ has ever put on a turntable' -- even your richly experienced ears (and legs) will be amazed at the fabulous sounds of Provocative Percussion. Taking a trip off the beaten track, this is a flight into new areas of sonic and musical excitement. According to specific groove standards, Provocative Percussion combines brilliantly recorded, imaginatively arranged club tools with a painstakingly prepared series of tests which enable both the listener and the dancer to check out and balance his stereo equipment and equilibrium sense respectively so as to bring out all its marvelous potentials. It is the ultimate in passion and practicality. We file it under 'The Emotional Maximum.' Discharging exactly what the title implies, the tracks -- lasting favorites, every one -- have been given highly sophisticated, modern arrangements which involve an unusually inventive use of percussion giving birth to punchy and progressive beats. Once again, producers James Dean Brown and Yapacc expose accurate programming and sound trimming methods. Of special interest to the real connoisseur of intriguing sounds is the cohesion and compactness that is implicit in these skillful performances. Increase your metabolism!"

Artist: JACK ROCK
Title: Morning Electric (Dandy Jack Remix)
Label: WIR (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $10.00
Catalog #: WIR 006EP
"This dry, cold-processed stomper from Jack Rock shoots like a rocket out of nowhere. With a bass drum that reminds of stakes installed in the swampland and a mysterious melody, he once again presents himself as the connoisseur of delicate club dramaturgy and Jack really knows how to conquer the hearts of both the DJ and the crowd. His stumbling funk finds its equivalence in Dandy Jack's staccato rush whose congenial remix shows a higher concentration, but is still full of catchiness and deepness driven by a real conviction. This must-have EP offers a really wonderful ground contact and represents the continuation of a unique label policy: young, but characterized by deep wisdom, knowledge that can only be found in the dark labyrinths of the club where we love to get lost over and over again."

Artist: KAB
Title: Document 123
Label: WIR (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $10.00
Catalog #: WIR 007EP
"Kab from Sweden follows the tradition of information overload from the early days of ambient and comes up with fresh, new and promising blood for the Wir family. The psychotropic subtext seems to be made of a thousand and one sample bits. A straight 4/4 beat guides us through this complex and rather confusing terrain and directs our attention to the manifold flora and fauna of this sound world. And it is most bewildering how a vast and heterogeneous sound spectrum keeps on trembling in the one and only collective groove. Every single bit tells its own story and at the same time the story of the whole. And every single bit is more than just a small crumb in the soup. Vocals are echoing and meandering through dense woods and vast areas on a trip into the promising unknown glimmering at the horizon. This record pays homage to the spirit of adventure in the early days of electronic music, a spirit that is badly needed today, but often missing. It is a record for that special moment, often looked for but rarely found."

Artist: MINILOGUE
Title: Ahck Remixes
Label: WIR (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $10.00
Catalog #: WIR 008EP
"If W.I.R. is a country this track is its capital: Minilogue's 'Ahck,' formerly the first release of the label and a not-so-secret hit on the floors, it's been winding itself into the hearts and brains of the crowd. This deserves some great remix work as every founding myth needs its interpretation to stay alive. Newcoming talent Kab shows some severe skills with a tight remix that keeps Minilogue's hooklines in shape but introduces them to its unique world of magical flow while pulling off the impossible: he creates a masterbuilder being tense and tender at the same time. Jichael Mackson on the other hand constructs a relaxed groove rich in texture, pushing the sounds further and further until the final climax while tracing the original material rather emotionally then rationally. Minilogue themselves round off the package with a beautifully dashed ambient version that makes this 12" a weapon of choice for every task imaginable during those nights that we love to remember."

Artist: MINILOGUE
Title: Inca EP
Label: WIR (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $10.00
Catalog #: WIR 009EP
"Just as Klaus Kinski once saw the jungle, Minilogue see their sound as a multifaceted and highly fecund place whose nevertheless existing and complex matrix does not show itself in any apparent order. Two new tracks on Wir make their way through tight, slippy and steeply ascending paths, working to see the daylight in the befogged territory of the Peruvian rain forest, or they ride on rapid Amazonian rivers looking for El Dorado, while unknown dangers lurk behind. Bushwacking beats slap through the thicket, wandering on the trails of ancient cultures, not fearing any frazzle. Minilogue's trademark sound already overgrows the dance-floor, wriggles over sweaty walls, into the corners and beneath the turntables, and there's quite a chance to lose oneself in that labyrinth when not paying attention to where the exit once was."

Artist: ANIMALTEK
Title: Karmik Loops
Label: WIR (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $10.00
Catalog #: WIR 010EP
"Shay Raban (DJ Earthian), a virtuoso and versatile DJ and sound technician from Israel and the internationally-active Russian producer Oleg Slepak came to know each other at a desert rave in Colorado in 2002. Based in New York, their mutual project Animaltek is keeping every promise of a highest-level energy transformation. Compared to their almost simultaneously released 12" EP Innocent Robot/Night of Tvarok, Animaltek celebrate a more reduced interaction of rhythmic signals and systems on Karmik Loops, nevertheless displaying the same cautiousness by placing sounds in a high-precision way and still with a discerning ear for the detail. Small groove cycles are reflected in the superordinate concept and vice versa. The machines set up a fertile, pulsating bassplate from which sublime four-fourths and triplet loops ascend to harmonically communicate with each other. They report on the foreordination of club culture which definitely turns out to become romantic. Alice is dancing into a land behind the mirror ball where mass splits in marbled matter. A dual sunset of an iPod metallic-colored spectrum is warming the android beach. Here a plush astronaut witnesses the birth of the Venus of Detroit. Animaltek describe this sensation as 'a powerful effort of self-expression through rhythm, sound and harmony.'"

Artist: YAPACC
Title: Second Life
Label: WIR (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $11.50
Catalog #: WIR 011EP
"Yapacc's music is known for meandering through the body in a very particular way and preferably from all sides simultaneously. So no wonder that both your head and legs will start dancing and moving around when these tracks are sweeping through your body. And there would have been no better place to release these tracks than on W.I.R. Monsieur loves to constantly readjust his perspective, and often within one and the same track. For some people, one brainwave per track might be fine, but not for mister Yapacc, oh no! Compared to any other contemporary producer, under his magic hands the routines with little hustling sound pads start singing, the state of the art minimal sound starts dreaming and playfulness blends well with conceptual strictness. The emotional density seems to herald of past techno virtues, while the beat structure pushing ahead sails close to the future in a romantic and well-informed way. And by the way: it really is for the dancefloor, oh yes, definitely."

Artist: MESSINA, FAUSTO
Title: Ibz Ventiquattro Sette EP
Label: WIR (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: WIR 014EP
"Famous and feared German actor Klaus Kinski, now defunct, once described the jungle as an obscene display of nature, and somehow one gets the feeling that upcoming Italian producer Fausto Messina has seen the movie, too. After the gigantic success he found with the co-produced 'Compulsive Disorder,' which made it right into the playlist of Sven Väth, he apparently reorganized his aesthetics, not to get keen on the next chainsaw massacre but to let nature grow as it was meant to be. Entwined drum patterns and chirring hi-hats adorn his psychedelically detailed symphonies straight outta the jungle, always promoting something new, surprising and flowing. A night club kinda swing employs obscure folklorist instruments, creating a techno that oscillates between samba and Javanese, sweaty and dirty, as the sound of the green hell should be. The WIR newbie constantly discovers new animals and future medicamentation in the smallest corners, but still manages to map the heavens above the flora, describing it as huge waves of sound break through the treetops. This is the Indiana Jones of contemporary electronics, not just some Lucialobos rip-off, as he's using the machete in his own way. Just be careful not to stumble over the vines... they're quite dangerous."

Artist: BABICZ, ROBERT
Title: Afterhourbasar
Label: WIR (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: WIR 015EP
"It's quite simple: nobody sounds like him. Robert Babicz, emperor of a thousand rare devices, knows exactly the way a sound has to travel to gain true grandeur. He has studied every single step in the process and has thus become a master of mastering while still being the pioneer of techno everybody knows. Apparently it's his second nature to build genuine rockets for the floor and to connect driving dryness to feastful romanticism constantly anew. Nevertheless it's WIR the wanderer between labels has brewed an especially substantial soup for: two tracks which have been tested to satisfaction in live sessions around the globe during the last months, loved by the girls, envied by the boys, two dense character studies of epic scale where every small detail morphs into a very hookline, relaxed and ambitious at the same time. Yep, this guy could even produce a soundtrack to a speck of dust and still everybody would think it's Star Wars."

Artist: ROSSELOT & FRANCISCO ALLENDES
Title: De Vuelta Al Planeta Tierra
Label: WIR (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: WIR 016EP
"The big Chile connection is steadily expanding, and it is fun listening to this process. Which is not necessarily related to physical or virtual networking of producers who are close companions, neither to the friendly reception of new, qualified members or to newborns within the inner circle of the well-established 'family.' The revolutionary sound sinks to fertile ground, stirs, grows, flourishes, takes a rest in between, finally ramifies, meanders, eventually is in the prime of existence, bears fruit, forms new variations to consequently proliferate to a jungle of sound diversity and evolutionary develop further. Marcelo Rosselot and Francisco Allendes, who run the label Andes Music in Santiago de Chile, proceed to improve the system by enriching it with fascinating elements."
