"After a series of extraordinary releases on the legendary Force Tracks label, Berlin resident Michael Siegle debuts on Kupei with his second full-length. Aptly titled Blending Days, the album is full of deep chords, reverberated delays and multilayered organic sounds. It captures a desire to bring seductive melodies and harmonies -- as well as -- sensation and elegance back to minimal house. Siegle's voice adds a very distinctive, bittersweet element to his crafty blend of indie-pop and stylish disco-house. Tracks like 'Conspicuous' provide a perfect backdrop for equally dour days -- the kind of music one will play while driving the Autobahn on an overcast autumn day. The funky little noise sounds add a very interesting offbeat to the tight kick and bass grooves. Instrumentals like 'Karussell Der Puppen' provide us with a more dub feel, adding synth-disco stabs and rumbling bass to the mix. His best talent, however, lies in providing great fragmented hooks throughout the record. Whether it is a catchy repetitive vocal line, synth-stab or melodic bass line, he sounds very comfortable in his own skin -- unpretentious. This fragile quality makes his production aesthetic more closely connected to the indie scene than to the slick, usually superficial Berlin party house scene."

"Canned Heat was formed in 1965 by Alan 'Blind Owl' Wilson (guitar/harmonica/vocals), and Bob 'The Bear' Hite (vocals). Before hitting the charts in 1968 with their version of Jim Oden's 'On The Road Again' (#20 in the USA, #10 in the UK), here is how they sounded in 1966 when R&B pioneer Johnny Otis produced their first recordings. A perfect match, considering that Wilson and Hite were avid record collectors and blues aficionados, choosing to stay close to the originals on their versions of classics like Muddy Waters' 'Got My Mojo Working,' Willie Dixon's 'Spoonful' and 'Pretty Thing,' John Lee Hooker's 'Louise' and 'Dimples,' and Elmore James' 'Rollin' and Tumblin'.' Features bonus track 'Going Up The Country.'"

"By the time this album was released, Antonio Carlos Jobim was already an international superstar. Having recently won a Grammy (1965) for 'The Girl From Ipanema,' by 1967 all the big name stars from up north were breaking down his door to work with the new 'Gershwin of Brazil.' In fact, Jobim had just finished working on an album with Frank Sinatra when he went into the studio to record this album. Recorded in 1967, Wave is actually one of the lesser known masterpieces of Brazilian music, and undoubtedly one of Jobim's greatest. Here Jobim and the great Claus Ogerman lead a top-flight cast on hidden classics like 'Batidinha,' 'Triste' and 'Wave.'"

"Although Veloso had already been thrown in jail once for his criticism of Brazil's military regime, he continued to speak out against it on his second album (1969) with tracks like 'Irene' (about a machine-gun-toting outlaw celebrated by the Left). No wonder he would soon find himself in political exile in the UK. The general tone of the album keeps with its dire message -- Veloso felt it was important for his voice of protest to be heard around the world. If he was a high-profile public figure, he felt that he would be safer. All this and the man still managed to make excellent records!"

"Formed in 1970, Affinity broke the British jazz-rock mold by combining the hauntingly powerful vocals of Linda Hoyle (lauded by critics as the British Grace Slick) and the Hammond wizardry of Lynton Naiff (considered the rising star of jazz-pop in the style of Brian Auger) with convincing elements of psych and blues, often close to that of Julie Driscoll & the Trinity. Unfortunately, despite the critical acclaim the band received at the time, they only stayed around long enough to release one LP. Featuring 8 rare tracks not found on their original release, including two tracks from their rare single and two tracks from their 1969 EMI acetate."

"Line is proud to present η-Menge (Eta-Menge), the final installment of the critically acclaimed Mengen series from influential German electronic music pioneer Asmus Tietchens. Eta-Menge means eta quantity. Based strictly on sine tones and white noise, the Mengen series was released by Ritornell/Mille Plateaux as the CDs Alpha, Beta, Delta, and Gamma-Menge and then continued on LINE as the CDs Epsilon, Zeta, and Eta-Menge. Asmus Tietchens' first released his unique electronic music in 1980, but created works since the late 1960s. Since then, he has produced over 37 full length solo works and more cutting edge recordings on numerous international labels dealing with electronic sound and concrete music. Some of his over 20 full length collaborative projects include works with Merzbow, Achim Wollscheid, Vidna Obmana, Richard Chartier, and Kontakt der Junglinge with Thomas Koner. Tietchens' focus is the manipulation of found sound in ways suggested by the material itself. German label Die Stadt has begun to reissue his ground-breaking early works on CD in limited edition. In both 2003 and 2006, Tietchens was awarded the Karl-Sczuka-Preis für Akustische Kunst by Südwestrundfunk (SWR)." Last copies, now deleted edtion.
