Exact repro, manufactured by Rhino under license from Atlantic Records. Originally released in 1971, supposedly shortly after which then-Vice President Spiro Agnew demanded the album be shelved for its content. Heavily sampled freak-funk-jazz classic (J Dilla once hid a copy in some bushes) with a Last Poets lyrical bent. "Sampled to death by the '90s hip-hop elite, including Beastie Boys, Pete Rock & CL Smooth, and A Tribe Called Quest, this administration-upsetting LP showcases this former 'jazz freak' as a slightly less cerebral Gil Scott-Heron, with his direct, socially-conscious lyrics laid over some of the funkiest soul-jazz of the early '70s. A ridiculously rare-groove find for years, the influence of the LP is incalculable, forging a path for hip-hop and soul that would continue to keep the music and message of the album relevant to this day. The man would later produce hit records for Roberta Flack, Gladys Night, and Nancy Wilson, but for for a time Eugene was not trying to please anyone, but just kicking back at The Man a little."

This is Francis Harris aka Adultnapper, with his second EP on Audiomatique. With its stoic bass line and freaky synths, "Juror No. 9" builds very subtly and creates a dense, claustrophobic atmosphere. With its devilish vocals, freaky sounds and a dirty bass, "Brandy McLeod" is an even darker dancefloor weapon. Jon Gaiser does remix duty, inducing a percussive, minimal rhythm which turns the track into a highly intoxicating floor-filler.

"Hot on the heels of Whip Them King Tubby! comes the benchmark Upsetters 14 Dub Blackboard Jungle, produced by Lee Perry, which was recorded in 1973. The Auralux album, in addition to having all tracks on the original album, as they were mixed, has four unreleased recordings from the Black Ark to complete the package. Overall, Upsetters 14 Dub Blackboard Jungle had a certain continuity that most previous Upsetter album releases lacked, and although reggae scholars are still arguing over whether it was the first dub LP or not, it was clearly crucial in giving credibility to the concept of the dub LP and thus greatly added to the validity of the dub format in general. It shows Perry again as a true innovator in his field."

The Lost Mixes From King Tubby's Studio. "25 years after its initial very limited release, we are excep�tionally pleased to present this long-lost dub classic in its original form. Towards the end of the 1970s, Jamaican music was chang�ing dramatically -- the roots reggae era had seen the rise of dreadlocked harmony trios singing of sufferation, but by the start of 1979 a different sound transfixed the island as a whole new legion of fresh talent began rising out of Kingston's dancehalls. The most important and best admired vocalist to emerge from the dancehall movement was Barrington Levy. Once Barrington hooked up with political 'enforcer' turned record producer Henry 'Junjo' Lawes, the dancehall style reached international prominence."

"Monster Sydenham remix! Frankfurt's eclectic duo of C-Rock & Matthias Vogt return with their second release on Aus. They have released records under the moniker of Motorcitysoul for the past three years, putting out on Infracom, Stir15 and LoFi Stereo. Hailing from Germany's own Motown, the pair have developed a reputation for creating soulful and deep house that more than competes with their State-side counterparts, typified by their celebrated collaboration with vocalist Chez Damier 'Kids In The Streets' in 2005. 'Space K�tzle' has a beautifully simple yet immediately recognizable chord sequence, with layers of sparkling melody that cascade down the stereo pallet for what is a true end of the night anthem. For the remix, Jerome Sydenham toughens up the drums, adds a delicate tom pattern and backs up the original melody with his own chords taking the Space Cats (Space K�tzle) into a darker, more tribal place."

"Baum is a new label, which mainly will concentrate on deep dub techno and minimal techno. The first release is three track EP which is called Buchenholz EP by Resoe, who is the owner/founder of the label. 'Moorpark' is a deep track with fat chords and heavy bass for the dancefloor, which draws inspiration from the Berlin heritage of Basic Channel. 'TSB' is a more minimal track with smooth melodies that floats around in the wet space of reverbs and delays, but the deep chords still find their way into the track. 'Apart From Space' is a track of pure laid back mood with heavy dub influence that just moves around in the spacious environment of plate reverbs and long tape delays."

Reissue of this 1975 self-titled album, originally released on the Cinevox label. Tracks are: "Settimino," "Eflot," "Soup" and "Scratch." Two of these are also commonly available on CD on the Edition RZ compilation, unfortunately; the other two ("Settimino" & "Scratch") are not on CD, so you have approx 30 minutes of exclusive/rare material here on this release. Gruppo are the classic Italian freeform outfit from the '60s & '70s, still pretty undocumented on CD. All pieces created by: Giovanni Piazza, Ennio Morricone, Mario Bertoncini, Gualtiero Branchi, Francesco Evangelisti, Egisto Macchi, Jesus Villa Rojo. "The least-known and rarest musical exploration of Ennio Morricone's career. He played trumpet in the extraordinary Gruppo di Improvvisazione Nuova Consonanza from 1965 when it was founded by composer Franco Evangelisti. These lengthy improvised sound collages are challenging to listen to but have their own beauty and are of serious historical importance. Gruppo recorded albums for RCA Italia and Cinevox up to 1975 including under Morricone's auspices, soundtracks for the trippy Gli Occhi Freddi Della Paura and Un Tranquillo posto di Campagna where their improvised 35-minute suite mirrored the formal score."

"'At least pray God to give me patience in my suffering.' So concludes 'Lover Go From Hence,' a tale of tumultuous romantic upheaval on the new Amolvacy record Ho-Ho-Kus. Here we have hearts wrenched from guts and firmly planted in the dirt; but also sprouting new romance, seduction, and... the church? And the French? Francois Rabelais wrote Garantua And Pantagruel -- a major influence on this album -- in the early 16th c. to caricature the faux morality of his time. Amolvacy offer Ho-Ho-Kus in the same cantankerous spirit, but this time perhaps to parody their own morality. Love, marriage, sex, affairs, betrayal, and loneliness are all exposed in naked vulnerability and placed on the chopping block for emotional dissection. Lead vocalist Sheila Donovan (ex-Tall Boys) is a longstanding member of the Laboratory Theater Company in NYC, and her partners are Aaron Moore of Volcano the Bear and Dave Nuss of the No-Neck Blues Band. Together they are the Amolvacy family. All things were shared in the making of this record, nothing hidden, no secrets left untold." Pressed on clear vinyl, in a die-cut sleeve.
