"Using the artist pseudonym of Ando for his outstanding project to separate it from his previous works, Taylor Deupree started working on this release in 2004 but had to interrupt every now and then since time wasn't right. In 2007, he once again got working on it, resulting in four impressive tracks. Touching back upon techniques he explored in the mid-1990s, Deupree utilizes multiple time signatures, odd delays, feedbacks, and repetition to play with time and rhythm. The minimal aesthetic is very much in line with what he is doing today, but the stylings are decidedly techno. Taylor Deupree is a sound artist, photographer, and graphic designer residing in upstate New York. In 1997, he formed the 12k label, which has become one of the most respected outlets for new digital music in the world. Over the past 14 years, Deupree has released many CDs on labels throughout the world and has traveled the globe performing and photographing."

1993 reissue of this 1976 album. "One of the most groundbreaking bands of their time. From early avant-garde jazz work on the Strata East label to their later fusions of Afrobeat, funk and spiritual jazz, Oneness stand as a huge influence for today's jazz scene. Released in 1976, the African Rhythms album is Oneness Of Juju's masterpiece. Bandleader J. Plunky Branch had moved back to his hometown of Richmond, Virginia from New York and introduced R&B, funk and African percussion into his music to appeal to the local market. Topped by the soaring vocals of Jackie Holoman-Lewis, the Oneness sound became a tight, supremely soulful outfit. Although it sold to the local market, African Rhythms was revived in the late '80s when rare groove fever hit the UK. Ever since, the album has been an essential part of any soul and funk DJ's collection."

Region 0 (free)/NTSC format DVD. The first-ever Pan Sonic DVD release, directed by Edward Quist, an American digital visual artist. A live performance, close-filmed. A redux digital film based around a Pan Sonic performance from a New York stop on their adventurous 1999 "Round The World" tour. The film is a hyper-real abstract reflection of the duo, in the final year of the last century. While the documentary core remains, the footage is twisted and shaped by Quist into a new form in conjunction with Pan Sonic's improvised set. Mika Vainio and Ilpo Väisänen are immersed in the imagery of the cathode which seems to live and infect their physicality over the course of the three parallel films, until they merge with their own sound and Quist's mesmerizing visuals. Sonar Electronic Festival described the film as "a beautiful and unique film capturing the very essence of a Pan Sonic live performance... which really is quite an achievement." SXSW Music Festival calls it "...an embodiment. Probably the most perfect electronic music film yet." ICA Film London says it's "...surprisingly watchable. "Windy Weber, known for being half of the ambient drone duo Windy & Carl, has recorded a solo album. It is quite different from what you may be thinking -- it has none of the soothing characteristics you may be expecting & instead is full of heavy & brooding music. It's comprised of two tracks -- 'Sirens,' coming in at 24 minutes, is instrumental & is filled with the sound of guitars crying, rising & falling like waves crashing on the rocks. 'Sirens' is ominous and haunting. It is not music to sleep to, but instead could make you tense & anxious. The second track is 'Destroyed.' It is 32 minutes long, and comprised of 3 suites. The first being layers of vocals, woven together to make a chorus of breathing & breathlessness, layers to make you feel as if you may be drowning in the sea, whether that sea be the ocean, or the sea of life, the day to day world in which you must deal. The second suite becomes noisy, agitated, rumbling & distorted guitars, bass & feedback, and makes you sit on the edge of your seat wondering what is about to happen. The third suite takes you to the end of the album with its subsonic frequencies & strange unrecognizable sounds. This is not music for the faint of heart."

Subtitled: Live at the Kulturforum, Bonn, Germany, November 24, 1980. Another in the Wooden Weavil series, this time an unreleased live Robbie Basho recording from Germany in 1980. Robbie Basho was one of the great pioneers of the acoustic steel string guitar in the U.S., along with Leo Kottke and John Fahey in the 1960s. This program appears to have been recorded in one go. Robbie scatters his Americana numbers throughout, beginning with "Redwood Ramble," and ending with "California Raga." This date finds Robbie in fine fettle, his playing sharpened by the intensity of touring, his mood seems ebullient, at times (as on "Fandango") he comes off like John Lee Hooker's sun-kissed cousin, stomping furiously along to his playing. There is sweetness to his material, yes, but this is not, as Jack Rose put it, "music for wineries." There is the galloping muscularity of Basho's playing, coupled with the sheer hugeness of his sound; the fearless employment of dissonance as part of his musical make-up; a love for the unexpected chord change. Robbie was a voracious and uncompromising player. Basho's singing was as integral to who he was as his guitar playing, and when he opened his mouth, he filled the room with sound. Say what you like about his lyrics, no one can accuse Basho of dilettantism, of dabbling, or of trying something on merely for effect. Whatever bag he was in, he was in all the way. This is the debut full-length release by French artists Delon & Dalcan (Greg Delon, André Dalcan) -- DJs, sound artists, organizers and mainstays of the Nîmes house scene. Tanz expresses the unusual symbiosis between these two men: the sound is full of warmth and full of grooves, in spite of its apparently technoid features. Who knows whether it is the mild climate or the region's wonderful red wine, but surely Greg and André's passion and unconditional love of music, the 1980s, and current club tunes have contributed to the wholesome melding of genres on this record. Each track has an inherent flair and develops an individual homage to disco, techno, house, electro, pop or rave... everything has an influence on how they think, what they do, what they produce and vice versa. Addictive minimal stompers perch next to delicately-mixed classic French house to form a perfectly working sound/ecosystem where everything is in its right place. It is music not only for the small-scale habitat, but also for new biotopes with similar structures, for other clubs and other countries. Also, one of Kompakt's best-selling acts Oxia comes on board, fitting perfectly into this synthetic entity created for a simple yet omni-liberating purpose: Tanz (Dance!).

A French transplant to Berlin, Thomas Muller presents Ride On, his impressions of Parisian nightlife and a voyage though Europe's metropolises. "Ride On" slowly forms a hypnotic atmosphere until a long, deep break brings us back to earth. "X Nights" invades the ears with an awesome and dark bass line with small details that create a new space within the track. "Puppet's Dream" is Thomas' homage to Berlin's Bar 25, bringing back the spirit of summer onto the turntable.
