GDR (ITALY)
Artist:
KORAY, ERKIN
Title:
Tutkusu
Label:
GDR (ITALY)
Format:
LP
Price:
$33.00
Catalog #:
GDR 707LP
"This 4th album by the man had never been reissued on vinyl before, so it's good news we have for you. This one's from 1977, and though Erkin went strongly ethnic with his previous album
2
, here he went back on his steps and made another brilliant psych-rock album obviously adorned again with some Turkish traditional music elements, though not as strongly as with
Elektronik Türküler
. Here he even sings some tracks in English, giving the whole album a more occidental appeal but losing near nothing of the incredible enchantment of Erkin's best recordings! Limited reissue of 500 copies with the original artwork in a beautiful gatefold cover."
GEDANKENSPORT (GERMANY)
Artist:
PELLE BUYS
Title:
Kiss The Ground
Label:
GEDANKENSPORT (GERMANY)
Format:
12"
Price:
$12.00
Catalog #:
GDS 007EP
"Pelle Buys celebrates his first single at Gedankensport and underlines label head Stereo & Flatner's community and networking philosophy. Also known as member of the legendary Einmusik and Error Error projects it's obvious who we talk about. His solo releases show the deepest and emotional side of his musical life. Sweatlodge or Italic -- the platforms for his labours of love. Gedankensport subsequently guides the path of a great personality, producer and musician. Pelle Buys knows the deal concerning minimalism -- the two brand-new tracks are as minimal as complex in structure and style. This is a new stage of emotionalism. This is 'Minemotionalism' -- sports for your brain and legs!"
GET BACK (ITALY)
Artist:
TYRANNOSAURUS REX
Title:
A Star of Beards
Label:
GET BACK (ITALY)
Format:
CD
Price:
$16.50
Catalog #:
GET 660CD
"The music and unique sound of Tyrannosaurus Rex have forever been overshadowed by Bolan's achievements with T.Rex. In fact, as a Bolan fan, the only real criticism you could really have about T.Rex, was that the band's massive musical and cultural appeal tended to demean the uniqueness and originality of what Bolan had achieved as 'Tyrannosaurus Rex'... There was something very cosy and warm about Tyrannosaurus Rex. A gentle yet powerful vibration that emanates deep from every song. I guess that's why Tony Visconti, when pressed in recent years, as to what his favorite albums to work on had been... he did not hesitate to say, 'the early Tyrannosaurus Rex ones.' Compiled by Pat Thomas."

LP version. "The music and unique sound of Tyrannosaurus Rex have forever been overshadowed by Bolan's achievements with T.Rex. In fact, as a Bolan fan, the only real criticism you could really have about T.Rex, was that the band's massive musical and cultural appeal tended to demean the uniqueness and originality of what Bolan had achieved as Tyrannosaurus Rex. There was something very cozy and warm about Tyrannosaurus Rex. A gentle yet powerful vibration that emanates deep from every song. I guess that's why Tony Visconti, when pressed in recent years, as to what his favorite albums to work on had been... he did not hesitate to say, 'the early Tyrannosaurus Rex ones.'" Compiled by Pat Thomas. Side A: Tracks 1, 2 & 6: "Child Star," "Sleepy Maurice," and "Highways" were all recorded the morning after their first-ever session on Peel's Radio One 'Top Gear' show in November 1967 in 'Sounds Techniques Studio' in Chelsea, two of which remained unreleased during Bolan's lifetime. Track 3: "Deep Summer" was recorded during the initial sessions for the 'Beard Of Stars' album, in December 1969. One of the three instrumental tracks recorded during Bolan's new found enthusiasm for electric guitar. Tracks 4 & 7: "Demon Queen" and "Pilgrim's Tale" are unreleased
Unicorn
outtakes. Track 5: "One Inch Rock" was recorded at a session at 'Trident' in July 1968. Side B: Track 1: "Rings of Fortune," an early song, originally played in acetate format on John Peel's Perfumed Garden show in Aug 1967. Tracks 2, 3 & 4: "Wind Quartets," "Mustang Ford" and "Conesuela" were recorded in 1969 at London's Queen Elizabeth Hall (Jan 13) and Lyceum Ballroom (April 11). Although lacking in sound quality, these concert performances give fascinating insight into how the duo sounded with a totally live environment. Of the "Queen Elizabeth Hall performance, Chris Welch of
Melody Maker
said, "Marc Bolan sat on the floor in a black vest and sang with fervor strumming a competent, if not exactly advanced guitar... Steve Peregrine Took juggled with a rare selection of African talking drums, pixie phones and bongos." Tracks 5 & 6: "For the Lion and the Unicorn/Hot Rod Mama," and "Misty Coast of Albany," were recorded during the band's American tour during the summer of 1969, the final Tyrannosaurus Rex tour to feature Steve Took. These tracks are taken from an August 16th gig played at the Café Au Go Go in NYC."

Thomas Schumacher
and the bewitching vocal presence of
Caitlin Devlin
.
Get Yourself
is Elektrochemie's third offering for Get Physical. "Faking" begins in an opiated fashion, flirting with spaced-out tom sounds before a fierce kick-drum gets the show on the road. "No 19" has a clicky 4x4 pattern and is sexy and non-committal. "Get Yourself" features snapclaps, a liquid bass line and synth builds. "My Home" has tectonic bass frequencies and keyboards dubbed to breaking point. Hypnotizing.

Artist:
LUTZENKIRCHEN
Title:
Paperboy
Label:
GREAT STUFF RECORDS (GERMANY)
Format:
12"
Price:
$12.00
Catalog #:
GSR 057EP
"The most productive artist of the Munich family is back with his 6th release on Great Stuff. And it's surprising as ever with its jazzy licks and jumping groove. Next to this outstanding tech-house track it's the incredible rework by D-Nox & Beckers with their peak time minimal techno that will guarantee screaming floors all over the world. 'Mimic' is Lützenkirchen's excursion into deep Bavarian afterhour minimalism at its best."

Title:
Great Carnival Stuff EP Vol. 1
Label:
GREAT STUFF RECORDS (GERMANY)
Format:
12"
Price:
$12.00
Catalog #:
GSR 058EP
"It's Carnival time all over the world and Great Stuff comes up with its first compilation full of exclusive Carnival goodies from their artists and friends. Infected by the groove and spirit of Rio, Venice, Trinidad Tobago, Cologne/Mainz, Mardi Gras. Eleven artists from all over the world (Wehbba from Brazil, Fergie from Ireland, Florian Meindl from London, Koletzki and Namito from Berlin) produced exclusive tracks for that compilation. And obviously they had to capture the carnival vibe and transform it into an outstanding track. These are the first 4 tracks on vinyl where Oliver Koletzki is in full samba feeling, while Butch was inspired by his hometown carnival in Mainz/Germany. Namito and Stephan Hinz used the percussive aspect of carnival for their track which definitely resulted in a great groove."

Great Carnival Stuff
compilation. "It's Carnival time all over the world and Great Stuff comes up with its first compilation full of exclusive carnival goodies from their artists and friends. Other artists like Namito, Nudisco and Stephan Hinz used the percussive aspect of carnival for their track which definitely resulted in a great groove. By the way, Irish techno god Fergie did his production together with Gregor Tresher to make it real Great Carnival Stuff."
GUERSSEN RECORDS (SPAIN)
Artist:
YVES, SERGE & VICTOR
Title:
Cagibi...
Label:
GUERSSEN RECORDS (SPAIN)
Format:
CD
Price:
$20.00
Catalog #:
GUESS 014CD
"Mega-rare private pressing from France, 1975, with only 300 copies made. Pretty unknown album, and a killer! Nothing you would expect from a French record, really. This is 100% USA early '70s sounding stuff, West Coast folk-rock with a psychedelic edge, CSNY feel, acoustic & electric guitars, some fierce fuzz assaults, English vocals. An incredible discovery! The original pressing came with a plain white cover, and a few copies were later pasted-on with a few very low quality photos. For this reissue we've used this artwork (restored) and also included a booklet with info and photos. Fantastic remastered sound."
Artist:
QUICK, BILL
Title:
Maravillosa Genta
Label:
GUERSSEN RECORDS (SPAIN)
Format:
CD
Price:
$20.00
Catalog #:
GUESS 015CD
"Mysterious Bill Quick... this guy was the son of a North American dad and Venezuelan mum, and landed in Madrid in the early '70s, spending most of his time playing music and manufacturing leather belts and other stuff that he later sold at the popular Rastro flea market in Madrid, meeting point for all hippies of the time. He somehow got in touch with famous producer Alain Milhaud, who was really impressed by his work and quickly offered him a deal to record a long-play to be released in Milhaud's own Explosion label. Then Bill recruited some top studio musicians and foreign friends who were also living in Madrid at the time; the list of people who play on the recordings is impressive: Salvador Dominguez & Chema Pellicó (ex-Cerebrum), Rafa Gálvez (later on Vainica Doble's backing band), Frank Rojas (Sangre), Jess Lam (Jess & James), and up to eleven musicians joined Bill in the recording studio. As a result,
Maravillosa Gente
('Beautiful People') was recorded. Ranging from beautiful, introspective, acoustic solo tracks like 'Beautiful People,' 'Only the Weather' or the acid-folk of 'Winter's Gonna Come' to full backing-band hard-edged ones like 'Take Me Away,' 'Somebody' and the folk-rock sounding of 'With You, Lord' or 'I Sing This Song,' the album is a real treat from start to finish. It has an awesome sound and amazing production (it was recorded at one of the most advanced Spanish recording studios at the time), along with top musicianship and Bill's amazing songwriting. A real big ticket that was absolutely ignored in Spain at the time, and even today remains unknown to most folk-rock collectors and fans. Curious enough, the album was released in Brazil as well (with poor sales again), with different cover artwork. Now this is reissued for the first time, including a booklet with pictures and detailed liner notes telling the wonderful and strange story of this mysterious musician with carefully remastered sound."
Artist:
GRUPO AMIGOS
Title:
Paloma Mensajera
Label:
GUERSSEN RECORDS (SPAIN)
Format:
CD
Price:
$20.00
Catalog #:
GUESS 016CD
"Originally released as a demo pressing in 1973,
Paloma Mensajera
by Peruvian band Grupo Amigos is without doubt one of the rarest albums from the South American psych scene. Only a handful of copies were pressed for the band members and needless to say, an original copy is impossible to find now. The band was formed by some long-time friends of Saúl and Manuel Cornejo, both from legendary Peruvian bands Laghonia and We All Together. Manuel Cornejo played drums on the album recordings and Saúl was the session engineer. Influenced by groups like The Beatles, The Byrds, The Stones, Badfinger, Shakers and of course Laghonia and We All Together, the music ranges from terrific guitar psych-rock like 'Dirty Girl' (which sounds like an outtake from Laghonia's first album) to British sounding pop-psych ('Mr. Taylor's Train,' 'Psychiatrist') harmony pop á la Byrds on 'Looking for Home,' a few rockin' tunes and some beautiful mid-tempos which show their We All Together influence. They alternate English & Spanish in their lyrics. On this Guerssen reissue, you'll find the complete recordings of Grupo Amigos, including their only album and a killer non-LP 45 recorded the same year. Features a booklet with liner notes and rare pictures, and our usual carton slimcase. Taken from the original master tapes."
