"Last time I wrote about the Bag Raiders 'Fun Punch,' I went on some rant about me being in Ibiza, on the floor in the main room at Pacha, listening to Erick 'More' Morillo play filtered French house. I had my hands the air, the lasers were in full effect, the Italian girls were looking fine and my ecstasy was working overtime. I declared that it would have been the best song of the nite, a song so great that you would have bathed in Erick's sweat and wouldn't feel at all weird about it at all. Now after caning this every set all over the world in the last 6 months I take it back. Erick Morillo dropping that would have made the 12,684 ecstasies that were digested in the last hour be vomited up all over the island. People would be vomiting in waves of joy and these would have been rolling around like lost little pingers with no eyes and just insides made from MDMA. And then. The remixes arrive! And here come the pingers! Like little lost kittens with butter on their paws they find their way home. And all the empty stomach raved out beautiful people at Pacha decide to 'double dump' their old lost pingers that they previously vomited up and the party continues! Like a fairy tale for clubber's 'lord of the pings' 'the dark crystal meth' or 'the never ending breakdown' etc. The 12,684 lost no-eyed pingers now eaten (lets call them LLNEP) (long lost now eaten pingers) now get distributed amongst the remixes. The first 1,999 get swallowed by people getting lost on the way to the bathroom listening to ZZZ's super Chopin/Mozart/Bach/Grey/Beethoven/Liszt etc on meth style 3-minute breakdown remix. Word. The next 2,589 were had (shelved) on the dancefloor, lights off 2:33 am grooving to nightlife's dark late nite 2:33 am style Melbourne disco groove shuffle. Then 4,406 were eaten by young Justice fans headbanging to white noizes French style daka daka daka DAAA woop woop!!! Sweating like Carl Cox in their Ed Banger t-shirts and trying to hold their jeans up cause they just sold there limited edition oversized Justice logo belt to buy a water at 20 euros a pop. And the last 3,690 were delicately split in halves to make them easier to swallow by a mixture of French/Canadian/Dutch/German/Russian/Swiss/Italian/New Zealand/English/Scottish/Australian/Californian/Hungarian/Polish/Spanish and some gay dudes dancing on the balcony's to the Bag Raiders even more synthed-out skipped-out drawn out mix of their own super Ibiza Pacha Erick 'More' Morillo hit... ready for it you know how it goes (play the hero part now) FUN punch! and that is THE END."

"This is the fantastic first release on Bass Face Records, showcasing the dynamite collaboration between two of south London's biggest names in dubstep at the moment; Cotti and Kromestar. Joining the dots between dubstep and the dark classical choirs of Carl Orff's 'Carmina Burana' (popularized in the soundtrack to The Omen), this is definitely a party pleaser despite its dramatic overtones. Suprisingly, it is in fact the B-side by the mysterious King Soly that comes out on top, with its Middle Eastern flavor infused with the odd video game soundbite. Recently featured on the new Box Of Dub 2, Soly cranks up the bass for this one and brings the house down with the mad vibrations."

Valgeir Sigurðsson's Bedroom Community label welcomes the second release from U.S. newcomer, Sam Amidon. At Sigurðsson's state-of-the-art Greenhouse Studios, Sam was left to concentrate on his intuitive interpretations of age-old folk-songs, a skill on which he proves himself to be a unique talent, drawing simultaneously on his experiences growing up a child of folk musicians in Vermont, and his more recent work in New York with the experimental indie-rock bands Doveman and Stars Like Fleas. From the opening notes of the first track, "Sugar Baby," it's as clear that All Is Well is a different album from his previous offerings, and by the album centerpiece, the wistfully poignant "Saro," it's obvious that this album is very special, indeed. With horns erupting and dissipating around the listener, Amidon's trademark delivery is perfectly offset by the tenderly plucked notes of his six-string. Nico Muhly's orchestration is not the only addition to Amidon's barrel of sounds. A dizzying amalgam of trombone, Eyvind Kang's ghostly viola, and processed percussion convert a children's singing game from the Georgia Sea Islands into the ominous ambiguity of "Little Johnny Brown." The distinctive bass of Ben Frost is evident on the pensive "Fall on My Knees," while subtle layers of electronics add an intrinsically modern aspect to the proceedings. Couple this with Sigurðsson's production wizardry and you'll realize that despite links to the Appalachian folk music of the past, All Is Well is an album that could only exist in the present. One of the unquestionable triumphs of All Is Well is its diversity. From introspective ballads of jealousy such as "Wild Bill Jones" to upbeat barn-dancing ditties such as "Little Satchel," the structure of the album is paramount in making everything work so naturally. Sam leaves the listener with a feeling of resolution parallel to that of a keen reader thumbing the last page of a favorite novel. He sings of death's spindly fingers finding him, a prospect he handles with no trepidation -- for he has Muhly's flourishing string arrangements to give him courage and form a stable bed for his tender lyricisms. In the length of an album, Amidon has struggled through gunfights, paternal tensions, religious guilt and the lonely life of a nomad, but he leaves us with the message that "all is well"; a defining statement that is bound to warm the hearts of even the coldest gun-slinger.

"Following an acclaimed series of five 12" vinyl releases, the Berkane Sol label brings its long-awaited first CD album by Nottingham-based producer, Geiom. As Geiom navigates his dragon boat into uncharted territory accompanied by a crew of trusted retro hardware, Island Noise forges dubstep's desert island material of the future. A tropical melancholy runs right through the album from the nostalgic flutes and colorful keyboard lines to the cheeky dub swing and rustic electric pianos to the cover art. Geiom draws a whole world of music into his menagerie of sound. The title track sets the tone with a warm reggae style melody alongside futuristic arpeggios and an aquatic sub-bass. 'Farski' delves into the little-known world of '70s Persian funk ballads while 'Canopy Desire' evokes a filmic narrative revolving around digitized Angolan percussion. Pheli Nazir, a magical collaboration with singer Khalid who featured on Zalim Maar Daala, closes the album with a classic lovesick Indian vocal. Island Noise combines dancefloor dynamics with real attention to song structure and an intricate and playful use of dub style delays that make it well-suited to home listening but still heavy on a sound system. Exploring the many possibilities of the 140 tempo, tracks such as 'Inbuilt Chaos' and 'Getaline' feel something like languid, laid back dub, while tracks like 'Six Times Seven' and 'Cardoza' pick up the pace with some crisp 2 step riddims. The album has been getting props from bass visionaries such as Hyperdub chief Kode 9 and Benny Ill of Horsepower Productions. It has also been getting radio support from the likes of Mary Anne Hobbs (Radio 1), Bobby and Nihal (Radio 1), Skream (Rinse FM), DJ Rupture (WFMU) and Boomnoise and Sgt. Pokes (subfm.com)."

Taken from his second album Mango, Sascha Funke presents "Double-Checked." Fritz Zander's remix is dark and sober but not simple and minimal. His sounds are rough and he concentrates on the beats rather than playful melodies, while Sascha Funke's original is calmer, more laid-back. "The Ballerina" is demanding and captivating, deep and dreamy. One cannot get the bass line off their minds, and all thoughts of going home vanish into the night.
