CIRCLE MUSIC (GERMANY)

Artist: CORCO, DAN
Title: New World
Label: CIRCLE MUSIC (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: CIRCLE 016EP
"Dan Corco -- a name that strikes... The alias used by the French DJ and producer Pierre Corcodan has become a trademark for melodic yet driving, Detroit-influenced techno and techhouse that hits like the first rays of the sun climbing over the horizon on a fresh morning. Perfectly apt to enchant any summery outdoor party after a wild night in a club somewhere South, the colourful sounds of Dan Corco, released on influential labels such as Dave Angel's Rotation Records, Scandium, and Goodlife, leave a mark wherever they get played. Emotional and kicking at the same time, it is no surprise that Dan, a very open-minded producer whose passion is to incorporate various styles in techno, fusing them with elements of other genres and combining them freely to create his very own deep and shiny sound, gets more and more attention outside of his country: picked up by Alex Flatner's renowned Circle, his new EP, ram-packed with melodic synths, leaves a positive impression which is enforced by Robert Babicz's (also known as Rob Acid) stunning remix."

CLAQUE MUSIQUE (ITALY)

Artist: HUGO
Title: Born to Bop
Label: CLAQUE MUSIQUE (ITALY)
Format: 12"
Price: $11.50
Catalog #: CLAQUE 003EP
"The third release on Claque Musique is one by Hugo, an Italian rising star who has previously released on Tongut, Floppy Funk, Enliven Music and Tuning Spork Records. 'Born To Bop' settles into a swinging groove that's propelled by a delicious bassline and skipping beats that are as crunchy as salted peanuts! The Jay Haze remix plunges into disorienting darkness; two trippy tunes tailor-made for the night crawlers."

CLOUD FOREST (WORLD'S LEADING TERRORIST STATE)

Artist: BOND Y LA PESADA, BILLY
Title: Volumen 3 + Volumen 4
Label: CLOUD FOREST (WORLD'S LEADING TERRORIST STATE)
Format: CD
Price: $17.00
Catalog #: CFR 405CD
"CD reissue of the third and fourth record from Billy Bond Y La Pesada. Volume 3 from 1972 is made up of two lengthy suites, 'Lado 1 -- Acustico' and 'Lado 2 -- Eectrica Camplementaria.' Released after their October 20, 1972 show at the Luna Park stadium in Buenos Aires where rioting between kids and police ensued at the prompting of Billy Bond and after which the band was promptly blacklisted by many government officials and clubs. The blood red LP jacket made direct reference to that night: Tontos (operita)... Habia una vez ) ... Anyone expecting more freaked out rock was in for the shock of a lifetime. Tontos was instead a collection of bizarre tape edits and sub-musique concrete, heavily laden with reverb, wailing, and fuzzed-out guitars. Volume 4 was Billy's final recording from '73 and includes heavy-hitters such as 'No Nos Paran Mas,' 'Hacia Algun Lugar,' 'Gracias Al Cielo,' 'Estamos Hartos,' 'Ano 1939,' 'Algo Esta Por Suceder,' and more all interestingly segued together with various animal noises and other sound effects."

COCOON (GERMANY)

Artist: MULL, JOEL
Title: Harmonautic String
Label: COCOON (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $11.00
Catalog #: COR 042EP
Joel Mull, a representative of the Swedish techno community, releases his debut single on Cocoon, Harmonautic String. Joel sends us on a journey through the title track that is airy-fairy and will transport you to the land of dreams after a wild party night. Designed to make you dance into the sun. "Blossom" is spacy and melancholic, with elegant layers -- exactly the right thing for a cold winter night.

COMMMONS (JAPAN)

Artist: YOSHIMIO
Title: Yunnan Colorfree
Label: COMMMONS (JAPAN)
Format: CD/DVD
Price: $45.00
Catalog #: RZCM 45720CD
Japanese-only exclusive release, packaged in deluxe gatefold digipak. Yoshimio features Yoshimi from Boredoms/OOIOO w/guest vocals by Kim Gordon of Sonic Youth (which includes a cover of "Death Valley '69"). Musically it's mostly a solo release by Yoshimi (featured on steel guitar, vocals, shell syntheizer, percussions, electric guitar, shaker, bell, whistle, drum machine, keyboards, drums, field recordings, etc.). The music is a soundtrack to a documentary movie of the same name; the movie focuses on the women of Yunnan, a remote area in southern China -- near Tibet, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam. This movie (which is included as the DVD in this 2 disc set) is 42 minute film with various street shots of these Yunnan woman -- in the markets, looking at food, in the fields and just standing around in total elegance, in the most colorful clothing imaginable -- with no-narration or overt linear intention. Not exactly Sublime Frequencies style, but not that far off, either! And Yoshimio's ethno-trance soundtrack works perfectly. DVD is NTSC region free; Color; Stereo.

Artist: EYE, YAMATAKA
Title: Re... Remix?
Label: COMMMONS (JAPAN)
Format: CD
Price: $33.00
Catalog #: RZCM 45795CD
Japanese-exclusive compilation of remix works by Yamataka Eye! Features various remixes that Eye has done over the past decade (most impossible to track down individually) of the likes of Gong, OOIOO, Atami, Flare (Ken Ishii), etc. Tracklisting: Walrus: "Moth (remixed by Eye)"; DJ Pica Pica Pica: "Spa"; Boat: "African Dawn Remix"; Flare (Ken Ishii): "Turbinates"; NXS: "Sleeper" (Micro Forest Mix 2000); Zeebra: "Smokin' At The Lobby (Your Turn) (Magic Mushroom Mix)"; Gong: "Master Builder (EYE Mix) ; Wrench: "Cosmic Hierarchy (EYE remix)"; OOIOO: "Asozan" (EYE Mix)"; Atami: "Nightingale (x-mas mix)"; Black Drop Bomb: "When The Man Have Realized The Sound-Flow (it's like that)" plus one more we're too incompetent to figure out. Maybe it's Kawamoto Makoto's version of "Gimme Shelter"? One artist originally announced (Black Dice) didn't seem to make the final cut.

COMPOUND ONE (UK)

Artist: FRACTURE/COMPOUND ONE
Title: The Phonecall/Look Shook
Label: COMPOUND ONE (UK)
Format: 12"
Price: $11.50
Catalog #: CMPD 002EP
"Compound One #2 sees the release of Fracture's long awaited 'The Phonecall,' with its eerie stalker vibes, skunk-infested old skool breaks, and filthy, cavernous bass line. The bass line pressure intensifies on the flip side with 'Look Shook,' which sees Fracture and Qualifide re-bonding as Compound One. A deceptively minimal intro gives way to a havoc-inducing bass line switch up, bound to cause wreckage! Both tracks have had extensive play from the likes of Distance, Scientist, Slimzee, Appleblim, Slaughter Mob, Headhunter, and Scuba, to name a few."

CONFUSED RECORDINGS (GERMANY)

Artist: KIKO
Title: Requiem For A Dream/888
Label: CONFUSED RECORDINGS (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $12.00
Catalog #: CON 072EP
"Our special agent from France is back on Confused! He delivers two tracks with this particular 'Kikonian atmosphere,' dark and rusty with melody thrills driven by a groove a la Huntemann. With 'Requiem For A Dream' Kiko gives us a look inside his special science of sleep. A very special lullaby. On '888' Kiko's mystic journey continues. A dark groove interrupted by griddy breaks and driven by a deep saw. Kiko's Requiem For A Dream EP is supported by Oliver Huntemann, Stephan Bodzin, Spektre, Vedrenn."

CONNAISSEUR RECORDINGS (GERMANY)

Artist: ESTROE VS. ZOEXENIA
Title: Sweet Dreams EP
Label: CONNAISSEUR RECORDINGS (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $10.00
Catalog #: CNS 018EP
Estroe and ZoëXenia already teamed up for Connaisseur's compilation Grand Cru 2007 with their wonderful track "Don't Forget." This time the ladies share a split EP with one original track and one remix of both. Estroe is a remarkable and stylistically confident DJ. Famous in the Netherlands, she is slowly being recognized outside her home country. ZoëXenia is a singer and songwriter later infected by house music.

CONNAISSEUR SUPERIEUR (GERMANY)

Artist: RIPPERTON
Title: Zugunruhe
Label: CONNAISSEUR SUPERIEUR (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $11.00
Catalog #: CNSS 008EP
Ripperton presents "Zugunruhe," a lively Detroitish tech-house tune, with a bass line reminiscent of Goofy riding a prairie horse, hypnotic cowbell action and a childhood-memory theme. Not a peak-time tune, more like the kind of track you play at the beginning of the night to bring a smile to every dancer's face. Daniel Stefanik delivers an outstanding interpretation -- an after-party tune with a smacking groove, which slowly builds up to a heart-rending melody.

Artist: WAREIKA
Title: Men Village
Label: CONNAISSEUR SUPERIEUR (GERMANY)
Format: 12"
Price: $11.00
Catalog #: CNSS 009EP
Wareika is the collaboration of Henrik Raabe, Jakob Seidensticker, Florian Schirmacher and Michael Hank. This record features a unique blend of dub, percussion and Afro beat music. "Men Village" is almost 15 minutes of Afro drums and percussion, accompanied by warm analog-synth, raster scanning and highlights, served on a strong simple beat that carries one's body on and on. Reboot reduces the original to its more rhythm-based elements with a typical trippin' percussion twist.

CRATER (UK)
