Mormors Hosta
Label:
DAHLBACK RECORDINGS (SWEDEN)
Format:

Price:
$12.00
Catalog #:
DAR 013EP
"Every Friday Hugg & Pepp sits down to have their mid day break after having a sturdy lunch at the party makers. Pepp is usually not late to suggest that something sweet should be consumed during this time in order to get inspiration and joy. Hugg, who is also known for his sense of culinary experiences sometimes surprises Pepp with exciting creations from all corners of the world. This particular Friday, the team has chosen the mormors hosta, a typical Swedish bread in which a special yellow fudge, the hosta, can be found in the middle of this delicious bakery dedicated to our beloved grandmother. Pepp, who is specially found of the hosta, also suggested that the two would make a tribute to grandfather so they wrapped the mormors hosta in a farfars kofta into a roll, then split it in half and feasted on this magnificent little piece in a cheerful mood. After this, filled up and satisfied they returned to their mystery machine and started to feed it with this new recipe. At first the machine returned some strange messages but after correcting the proportions between the amount of hosta and bread the machine successfully coughed up a banging bassline. Encouraged by this the team continued to develop the program and soon they found the key formula incorporating four important ingridients. These ingredients are the mormor, the hosta , the farfar and finally the kofta."

Going against the grain with extremely surprising noise effects, this mix is tailor-made even for reductionist DJ sets in its psychoactive darkness.
DBK WORKS
Artist:
ANDERSEN, ERIC
Title:
Avalanche
Label:
DBK WORKS
Format:
CD
Price:
$18.00
Catalog #:
DBK 535CD
"Eric Andersen, like so many other American folk singers, has long been in the shadow of the immortal Robert Zimmerman. After spending some time in San Francisco in the early '60s, Andersen joined the Greenwich Village folk scene in 1964 and cut five records for Vanguard before moving over to Warner Bros. for this 1969 release.
Avalanche
features some of the heaviest session men of the '60s and '70s, including Chuck Rainey (Roberta Flack, Quincy Jones, The Rascals), Eric Gale (Jimmy Smith, Tom Rush, Herbie Hancock), and Bruce Langhorne (Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, Richie Havens). Featuring eight Andersen originals and a killer cover of Paul Siebel's 'Louise';
Avalanche
is a folk-rock classic that's finally back in print on CD."
Artist:
ANDERSEN, ERIC
Title:
Eric Andersen
Label:
DBK WORKS
Format:
CD
Price:
$18.00
Catalog #:
DBK 536CD
"Unfairly pegged, again like so many others, as a 'new Dylan,' Eric Andersen struggled to be accepted as a powerful songwriter in his own right. After a five album stint at Vanguard, which included his classic
'Bout Changes & Things
, Andersen moved over to Warner Bros. in 1969 and released this self-titled record. Available on CD for the very first time, this album, though mostly ignored in 1969, has subsequently become a sought-after collector's item beloved for its heartfelt songs and classic arrangements."
DEEP LISTENING
Artist:
OLIVEROS/MIYA MASAOKA, PAULINE
Title:
Koto Accordion
Label:
DEEP LISTENING
Format:
CD
Price:
$13.00
Catalog #:
DL 036CD
"Though an unlikely combination -- accordion and koto -- it is not so much about the instruments as about the energies of the music that comes from the intensity of listening -- listening as close to 'now' as possible. We know that our consciousness is delayed by a fraction of a second that the brain interprets as now -- however the body is instantaneous in its perception. Thus the phenomena of playing and becoming conscious of what has played -- been played -- is a continually surprising experience in such improvisation." --Pauline Oliveros
Artist:
FULLMAN/MONIQUE BUZZARTE, ELLEN
Title:
Fluctuations
Label:
DEEP LISTENING
Format:
CD
Price:
$13.00
Catalog #:
DL 038CD
"Monique Buzzarté and Ellen Fullman began working together in June 2005. These collaborative compositions are rooted in tonalities that unfold with unexpected possibilities. Buzzarté's trombone navigates and merges through an infinite array of distinct overtones from Fullman's Long String Instrument. With slight timbral variations and pitch juxtapositions, sympathetic resonances articulate overtone colorations and threads of resultant melodic fragments emerge and intertwine."

DIGITAL CELLARS
Artist:
ELASTIK BAND, THE
Title:
Spazz
Label:
DIGITAL CELLARS
Format:
CD
Price:
$12.00
Catalog #:
DC 111451CD
"In 1967 The Elastik Band released one of the most notorious records ever, entitled
Spazz
, now a cult favorite sought by collectors worldwide. Hear their entire works, most never before released, on this showcase CD containing previously unheard recordings. The Elastik Band happened during a time when the music scene was exploding in San Francisco. Having a band there then was as if you were at Woodstock but not just for 4 days. It went on for years with tons of places to play, huge concerts everywhere, audiences that actually listened, and innovative bands that to this day are still remembered for whatever measure of success they achieved. Aside from the opportunities and excitement, the thing most bands had going for them then was that they possessed a feeling of unity and of belonging to something bigger than their own band. Like other bands of that age, The Elastik Band was an extended family that thought of themselves as a group rather than individuals who just happened to be in a band. They were not only musicians, they were part of a music movement. Although they had their own style and everything was original, The Elastik Band prided itself in being able to play many styles of music. A couple of songs were in the vein of The Mommas and The Poppas ('All I Need'), others were like the Beau Brummels or The Byrds ('Mixed Emotions'), another had a feel like Paul Revere and the Raiders ('Back On My Feet'), and so on. The EB thought diversity was a good thing, but in reality, record companies didn't quite know what to do with them."
