Repress of this CD originally issued in 1991, featuring the classic 1979 singles by the Niagra-fronted version of this band. "American group Destroy All Monsters caused quite a stir when they first appeared in the UK. Featuring guitarist Mike Davis who had previously played in The MC5, Ron Asheton, bass player from The Stooges and drummer Rob King, the band were completed by vocalist and ex-model Niagara. The band recorded only three singles for Cherry Red, all of which are contained on this mid-price CD. Track 7, 'Goin' To Lose,' was previously unreleased."

"Some years ago, a Los Angeles area collector stumbled across an orphaned copy of Touchy in a thrift store. It was shared through tape trading networks and bootlegged on vinyl -- now, Companion Records is proudly offering this first official Touchy CD release. Luie Luie has to be the most jaw-dropping one-man band lounge act found to date. Touchy serves as a conceptual dance album, an experimental album, as well as a sort of healing LP for '60s burn-outs. What can his music be compared to? Nothing that we know of. Luis Johnston is a Southern California screenwriter, painter, and musician who's spent the past 30 years working in almost complete obscurity. But he's also written and starred in a feature film and shaken hands with Elvis Presley. Luie has been playing live at various restaurants, lounges, and country clubs for three decades and is still going strong. He released a handful of 45s in the '70s and one full-length LP, Touchy in 1974. And he continues to record unknown quantities of yet-to-be-released CDs. This deluxe CD version is housed in a digipak sleeve, includes 2 'Touchy buttons,' a 20-page booklet with rare photos, concert flyers, art work, and a new introduction from Luie himself which sheds some light on his original inspiration for the album."

"After years of working with sound and vibrations, and documenting prepared and unprepared situations on recordings, Jeph Jerman and Jon Mueller now present a tapestry of visualizations to these sounds with Nodes and Anti-Nodes. The DVD shows close-up views of the subtle actions in vibrating bodies, both audible and not. These scenes are glimpses into situations that Ernst Chladni and Hans Jenny might have pursued in a more scientific direction. But for the lay viewer, it's simply interesting to watch the real-time relationship between sound and material, and the juxtaposition of the results of natural movements paired with absolute silence. For those that would enjoy listening to the audio portion on the go, an individual MP3 file of the audio can be pulled from the disc. "Since 1989, the Portugal avant garde ensemble Osso Exótico have created a stunning body of work. Current members are André Maranha, David Maranha and Patricia Machás, but besides the recordings, very little historical information can be found about the group. Rather, the music speaks for itself. Percussionist Z'ev, who has spent the better part of 40 years finding ways to coax sound out of material, and then creating a mystic cacophony out of it, also uses sound as communication. Together, this grouping produces quite a statement, as sound becomes something unexplained by words, yet shared as an experience. Here, long stretches of rhythmic and bubbling organ are matched by large bass drum patterns that culminate in an expansive psychedelic pool of sound. This isn't glassine drone music. It spews the grit of Tony Conrad and the trance of Terry Riley, while radiating the experience of a sweat lodge in a behemoth explosion of tribal minimalism; only digressing for a segment of spatial hums and large frequencies rubbed from the surfaces of metal, before it dives back into oblivion. With no sound processing, the result is a highly natural, grossly enigmatic, and deeply energized recording. The power is yours for the taking. Released in an edition of 500 and packaged in an offset printed chipboard envelope."

"South African born & raised pianist/bandleader Chris McGregor formed the racially mixed Blue Notes in the early 1960s. By 1964, facing continuous government harassment, Chris & the Blue Notes fled their South African homeland: first to France, then to Switzerland, and finally settling in London in 1966, where they made a huge impression on London's jazz scene. In 1969, Chris formed The Brotherhood Of Breath, which was essentially the Blue Notes augmented by a large number of the brightest names in contemporary British jazz. Due to the death of many of the key players, the band was mostly forgotten and at best a historical footnote when Cuneiform started releasing albums by them in 2001. These albums were released to great sales and huge acclaim and kick started a Brotherhood Of Breath revival, which continues to this day. Includes a 16-page booklet with detailed liner notes and unpublished photos from the concert. Professionally recorded for German radio, this was recorded in front of a huge crowd in Berlin in November, 1971 and this recording is released for the first time here!"

Vera has been the resident DJ for Robert Johnson, the famous Offenbach club, although she has been DJing all around (Monza Club Ibiza, DC10, the Key, the End, T-Bar...) proving she is one of the best DJs of a new breed. Mara Trax is here with Maayan (aka Miss-Fitz), who has releases for Raum Musik, Circus Company, etc., and is another well known DJ, with a heart split between house and techno. Side A is all for Vera, 9 minutes of deep groove, her debut on wax. 'In The Nook' builds an atmosphere of delight that gradually mutates into a dark deconstructed techno journey, a glorious after hours killer: elegant, sophisticated and precise. This is part two of the Datapunk label's We Are Punks CD compilation series. Given wings by the outstanding success of the first edition of the anthology as well as the Various Punks Volume A double EP, Anthony Rother and Matthias Gustke aka Ziel 100 once again select the best melodies from the successful label. With over 150 minutes playing time on two completely mixed CDs, the second chapter of We Are Punks is an intensive bridging of the past and future of a label which has defined the sound of modern clubs through a fertilization of techno and electro into a new hybrid. In addition to the compiled Datapunk club hits of the last few months (Anthony Rother's "Moderntronic 3" and "So Good," Billy Nasty's "Iconic Warfare" and/or "Electro Maloquerio," Umek's "Vandal Derivate" or Kiko's "30.1"), many of which appear on CD format for the first time, there are seven exclusive tracks which until now have not been released, which will appear on two vinyl full-lengths at the same time and will anticipate the sound profile of the label for 2008. Particularly worth mentioning are the label debuts of Polish producer Robert M aka Elektro One and Daniel Wilhelm from Hamburg. Robert M's "Elektro Tape" is a prime example of a playful and aggressive version of electronic dance music, which shows an exciting way out of the uniformity of the minimal techno dogma, and the organ sounds of "Alster Dream" by Daniel Wilhelm remain constantly present in the balance of a night dancing away. In addition, Ziel 100 shines with a streamlined bass line feat, while Frank Kusserow provides a sensual balance with his melodramatic "Just A Little Traged" and the tradition of electro comes into its own with a return to the old by Miss Kittin & The Hacker. Finally, in year five of the still-young label history, there is one thing that Datapunk doesn't want under any circumstances: to sit back and mark time.
