"Mark Morgan (formerly of Sightings and Silk Purse) and Gaute Granli first met in Brooklyn at The Glove in 2017 while Granli was on tour from his home country of Norway. The following year, Morgan embarked on a solo European tour and he and Granli did three shows together in Norway. Ultimately finding each other reasonably tolerable and able to agree to disagree on punk versus prog, they soon thereafter toured together in the fall of 2019 in Europe for 50 days with each playing solo. As the tour progressed, both found themselves influencing and being influenced by the other and by the end, they decided they should do a band together (easier to book one act rather than a package deal). Plans were made to reconvene in 2020 to record and possibly tour but then Covid threw a wrench into the works. A couple of years later, Rump State finally started playing and recording together in 2021 at Entropy Studio in Redford, Michigan (notably the childhood home of Ted Nugent who purportedly refers to it as 'Tedford'). Outside of agreeing that there should be a strong focus on duo vocals and that Morgan would play guitar and Granli electronics, not much else was discussed in advance of first playing together. From these sessions, their first LP Retaliation Aesthetics was cobbled together and eventually released on the Parisian No Lagos label in March 2023. Since then, Rump State has toured the USA once and Europe multiple times. Psychic Sidekick, Rump State's second album, is a jarring, dizzying (even!) collision; prior notions of song disassembly and aural properties being repossessed-then-sold-for-scrap were already due for reassessment. Morgan and Granli have rendered such arguments moot, and if you prefer 'discussion' to argument, congrats on being so (fucking) civilized. That's not gonna diminish this album's impact one iota."

Joseph Omicil, Jr, a.k.a. Jowee Omicil, is a Haitian-Canadian jazz musician. He has worked in the past with artists such as Roy Hargrove, Pharoah Sanders, Tony Allen, Kenny Garrett, Jacob Desvarieux, Glen Ballard, Harold Faustin, and Michel Martell. He hosted Quincy Jones' 85th birthday celebration at Montreux Festival. He also starred in the Netflix series The Eddy, produced by Damien Chazelle, and Le temps d'aimer, directed by Katell Quillévéré (Cannes Festival 2023). The Bois-Caïman ceremony was Haiti's first major collective uprising against slavery. On his new album, SpiriTuaL HeaLinG: Bwa KaYimaN FreeDoM SuiTe, Jowee performs his ancestors' revolution in his own way. Jowee brought together all his inner tubes, soprano, alto, tenor, wood, clarinets, piccolo flute, cornet, that blows, that winds, that rumbles. This record is an incantation, a therapy, it cleanses the world by drawing on the fantasized memory of the Haitian revolution. There are "Freedom Suites" by Sonny Rollins, Max Roach, and others. Prayer music, music to break the chains in your head and on your wrists, music of black power and white magic. For Jowee, a kid from Montreal, son of a Haitian pastor, who sang Jesus in all the tones, and then Michael Jackson, and then 2Pac, who learned jazz from Ornette Coleman, the ceremony necessarily has the taste of free. This record is a healing hour-long improvisation.

BEWITH 056LP

2026 repress. Be With Records present a reissue of Sweet And Nice, the vital debut album from Jamaica's undisputed first lady of song Marica Griffiths, originally released in 1974. It's reggae at its most soulful. Slinking through a tight ten tracks of R&B and pop-sourced material, it became an instant best seller. Sweet And Nice has appeared over the years with a revised running order and under different titles. But the original's opening sequence of loping soul is legendary, even beyond reggae circles. These songs are now returned to how they were presented on that first Jamaican release, and under their intended album title. Be With doesn't mess with magic. Marcia's version of "Here I Am (Come and Take Me)" has long been lusted after, played by genre-hopping selectors to snapping necks for decades now. It's followed by the sophisticated, rollicking wah-wah funk of "Everything I Own" and the slice of smooth lovers soul par excellence that is "Green Grasshopper" and her ace, lilting Neil Diamond cover "Play Me". The thundering, humid funk of "Children At Play" "sounds uncannily like a precursor of Massive Attack", as FACT Mag astutely noted when they put Sweet And Nice at number 16 in their list of the 100 best albums of the 1970s. Otherworldly, moody, and essential. Side two keeps the fire burning. "Sweet, Bitter Love" should leave you swooning, and is also one of the album's alternate titles. Curtis Mayfield's already-eternal "Gypsy Man" follows, recast as proto-lovers rock. "There's No Me Without You" is elevated to canonical status by the majestic, forlorn horns of the Federal Soul Givers and Marcia's heartbreaking delivery. And if this doesn't get you then surely the next track will: arguably the definitive version of Ewan MacColl's "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face". "I Just Don't Want To Be Lonely" re-takes its rightful place at the end of the LP's second side... but Be With Records added an entire second record of rare material recorded around the same time as Sweet And Nice, much of it unavailable since it was originally released. Amongst these 14 extra tracks you'll find the exquisite late-60s singles "Melody Life" and "Mark My Word" which, along with the sumptuous reading of "Band Of Gold". All material is remastered. 140 gram vinyl.

BIKINI 003EP

2026 repress, on translucent magenta vinyl. now on "A reissue of Bikini Kill's second EP, Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah. Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah was recorded in 1992 with Tim Green (Nation of Ulysses) at The Embassy - a group-house in Washington, D.C. - and was the first Bikini Kill release to feature the band's song, 'Rebel Girl.' Originally a split EP with the Brighton, UK-based band, Huggy Bear, the B-side now features seven previously unreleased Bikini Kill songs drawn from era-appropriate live shows and practice tapes. The artwork has also been updated to include archival photos and liner notes from the Bratmobile's Erin Smith, Comet Gain's David Feck, and the members of Bikini Kill. Bikini Kill was a feminist punk band based in Olympia, WA and Washington, D.C., forming in 1990 and breaking up in 1997. Kathleen Hanna sang, Tobi Vail played drums, Billy Karren (a.k.a. Billy Boredom) played guitar and Kathi Wilcox played bass. Bikini Kill is credited with instigating the Riot Grrrl movement in the early '90s via their political lyrics, zines, and confrontational live performances."

2026 repress. Black Editions present the first ever vinyl edition of Tokyo Flashback, the legendary 1991 compilation that defined the Tokyo psychedelic movement and first brought it to the outside world. Tokyo Flashback is one of the most iconic compilations in the history of underground music. Originally released by Japan's P.S.F. Records, Tokyo Flashback defined the breathtakingly unique and previously obscured musical movement that had been developing in Japan since the late 1970s. The compilation features some of the earliest released recordings by Keiji Haino, High Rise, Masaki Batoh's Ghost, White Heaven, Fushitsusha, Kousokuya, and Marble Sheep. It captures the excitement and energy of a Tokyo awash in Technicolor and deep blacks; the music echoing krautrock, psychedelic freak-outs, garage, and no wave. At the same time it reveals astonishing, totally idiosyncratic expansions of rock music. In time, Tokyo Flashback expanded to a synonymous nine volume series that, over the following two decades, unveiled Japan's ever evolving soundscapes to the rest of the world. Tokyo Flashback is a defining statement of late 20th century Japanese psychedelic music and an essential primer to the world of P.S.F. All tracks are exclusive, this edition features the first time translation of the original liner notes. Black Editions' deluxe edition is entirely re-mastered and marks the first release of Tokyo Flashback outside of Japan and it's first ever vinyl issue. Also features Verzerk. Newly created artwork and design expanding on the original by Rob Carmichael at SEEN Sudio; Housed in custom printed deluxe Stoughton gatefold jacket and slipcase, including full color printed inner sleeves and inserts with soft touch and spot UV gloss finishes; Remastered and cut by Pete Lyman at Infrasonic Sound; Pressed to high quality vinyl at RTI.

Chris Liebing and Charlotte de Witte present their second-ever collaborative release, Symphonie des Seins (Symphony of Existence). The release, taking in an original alongside a Dub mix from Liebing, follows 2019's Liquid Slow from the pair. A surging acid-beast channeling mid-'90s techno energy, Symphonie des Seins sees de Witte delivering a tweaky, spoken vocal comprising the hallucinogen-fueled diaries of ayahuasca and DMT trip reports that Liebing stumbled upon online. Crisp but heady, old school but utterly contemporary with its delivery, Symphonie des Seins sees two techno artists with very different formative eras converge perfectly with a razor-sharp piece of dancefloor mayhem.

"From its humble beginnings in 2001 as a Civil War themed album, through multiple incarnations ('Feast Of Manias,' 'Tiger Love' and more), Animal Lover took shape in a way no other Residents album had before. Evolving and morphing across multiple distinct phases, with contributions from collaborators as well as The Residents themselves, the album saw the group explore new sonic territory, complex arrangements and a contemporary sound whilst retaining their own unmistakable aesthetic. This 'Evolution Edition' provides over forty unreleased tracks showcasing the 2001-2004 development of the album, including a detour into abandoned songs such as 'Vanishing Genitalia' and 'Starvation Demon,' as well as contemporary outtakes and the 'Imaginary Jack' suite. Featuring notes from Brian Poole and Carla Fabrizio, and the usual insightful essay from Jim Knipfel (based on the recollections of The Cryptic Corporation's Homer Flynn), this set explores a level of access and detail rarely available to fans of any particular album. A must-hear for Residents fans and collectors, including those not already familiar with Animal Lover, and an essential part of the ongoing pREServed series."

"Forty or so Damaged Bug tunes from the past seven years were orphaned/unfinished, which is pretty rare for me. I just kept having other things going on and life kept getting in the way. And frankly, the songs were all over the place so I didn't see a thread in there, but in light of current events in the world, I feel like it's every artist's calling to construct personal messages cloaked in a moments of escapism. That's what this record is for me -- was something to clear the decks a little bit in my studio and relax my mind and keep the wolf from the door. It's a bit of a joyous/sad record dealing with hope and forgiveness, two things which I hope end up more in my life. It's abstract and poppy, fried and sugary. It exactly how I feel at the moment fried and skewed. Good luck out there and I hope this turns off the torrent for you, for a moment." --John Dwyer

"A good fun record, the new album from Lipphead -- aka the collaborative NYC duo consisting of the producer Tony Simon (Blockhead) and Eliot Lipp -- is the group's third official full-length, having released the first two records via Detroit's Young Heavy Soul label. Lipphead's music occupies the sweet spot between Blockhead's groovy, sample-based hip- hop and Eliot Lipp's upbeat electronic funk. The internationally renowned NYC producer Tony Simon -- aka Blockhead -- has released 15 albums over the past 15 years, including four acclaimed records for Ninja Tune and numerous production jobs including notable works with Aesop Rock. He is regarded as one of the modern masters of instrumental hip-hop and has more recently been releasing music on other platforms like Future Archive Recordings and Backwoodz Studios. Eliot Lipp is an electronic musician based in Brooklyn, New York. His work was picked up by Scott Herren of Prefuse 73 (Warp Records) after Herren heard him working the club circuit."

DEF 2508EP

St. David unleashes Deep House Damage on Definitive Recordings. St. David now steps forward with a full EP that delivers nothing less than pure old-school house fire. The release opens with "Touch Me (Sexy Hard Dub)," a shuffling house cut with a vintage edge, driven by a rolling bassline and a sensual spoken-word female vocal. "I Like It Deep" heads into deep house territory, pairing organ stabs and a steady old-school beat with both male and female spoken-word phrases. On "Dub Swagin'", the energy kicks back up with stomping drums, chopped samples, and filtered percussion. Closing things out, "Gonna Work It" is a peak-time smasher stacked with classic vocal samples and grooving organ chords that lift the track into euphoric territory.

The first ever official release by this legendary Melbourne post-punk band who only ever existed for a number of months in 1978, but who cast an important and influential light in Australian (and global!) music, influencing the likes of the Boys Next Door/Birthday Party and The Models, the group's membership and its diaspora reading like a who's-who of crucial Australian music of the past 50 years. In the band was a young Rowland S. Howard, who would soon go onto join the BND/Birthday Party; Ollie Olsen (Whirlywirld, No, Max Q, Dogs In Space soundtrack and so much more); Janine Hall (Saints; Weddings, Parties, Anything) and Jeffrey Wegener (drummer extraordinaire for the Laughing Clowns and the Saints, among others). The Young Charlatans recorded a demo with Ron Rude, and also surviving is a live recording from the Tiger Lounge in Richmond. With help from band manager Bruce Milne, Eminent Vinyl have sourced these two recordings to make up this LP, mixing the best of the both to document 45 minutes of inspired music as young players were still grappling with the fallout of punk rock, and wishing to push the music further into more experimental and adventurous directions. Contained here are 13 original songs composed by Rowland and/or Ollie -- including an early version of Howard's defining track, "Shivers" -- remastered by Mikey Young and featuring extensive liner notes by author and friend/fan of the band, Clinton Walker. With photos, articles and ephemera provided by Bruce Milne and Phil Morland, it is housed in stunning artwork and design by Luke Fraser, including a four-page booklet.

On this album, the former Chasing Clouds have accumulated into the eponymous Black Sky; these drifting soundclouds have swallowed a bulk of Sepalot´s sunny nature; his trademark relaxed attitude gave way to instrumental melancholy and pugnacity. "Before I started recording I listened to lots of The Doors songs. I found the suicidal aspect in their music very exciting. I totally inhaled it," Sepalot reports. "The breakage, the grid, the dirt - that was my inspiration. I was thirsty for the energy of pureness." In order to capture this roughness Sepalots first production steps were drafting soundsketches -- often more than 100 in a row. This is then is followed by a sorting process with many drafts going immediately into the trashcan. The survivors create the first basic draft. There is something waiting in the wings. Featuring Johnny Popcorn, Fab, Ladi6, and Jesper Munk.

The release moves fluidly between restraint and expression, combining functional structures with subtle, unconventional elements that give the tracks a distinct sense of character. Rather than settling into a fixed formula, Severance highlights IGLO's curiosity and willingness to push his sound forward while remaining grounded in precision and control.

Built sturdy, loud, and ready to tear through any system. The full-cover artwork seals the deal, but the B-side brings the real twist: the Disco-House edit everyone's been craving.

Savvas Christodoulou was born in Cyprus in 1949 and moved to Melbourne in 1950 as part of the great wave of Greek immigration following WW2. His story is long, involved and fascinating, and the liner notes and interview contained within the LP's four-page insert tells the whole story. Perhaps more briefly, what you need to know is that he released the Savvas studio LP in 1974 in an edition of 300 copies, and enjoyed such a strong local following that he sold out the 2,000-seat-capacity Dallas Brooks Hall two years later. The album has long been a collector's item for its unique and beguiling mix of Greek and Middle Eastern sounds, bouzouki jams, modal jazz and especially the cult synth-funk track "A Dream Of Zeus." Golden Debris was set to reissue the LP as it was, but surprisingly came across the original reels from the Dallas Brooks Hall show and decided that mixing the best of the studio and live material was a better option. Some of the live materials are tracks previously unreleased, like the cosmic synth wonder of "UFO," the quirky electronica of "Can You Remember" and the extended piece, "Space Dream," which slowly and beautifully evolves into a spacious, hypnotic jazz jam, and yes, there are three versions of "Zeus" here, the original studio version, reprise and live one, but they're all wildly different and all worth hearing. The four-page booklet is beautifully designed with exclusive photos and an extensive interview with Savvas telling his life story. The studio material features contributions from a young Nicholas Aitkin AKA Wilbur Wilde on saxophone, and Celeste Howden of Lygon Street punk rock and rollers, Stiletto, on bass. A very special slice of Australian music history is reborn!

"This exceptional release brings together two of Marcia Griffiths' most remarkable recordings, produced by Lloyd Charmers in the early 1970s. Both tracks originally appeared on her acclaimed debut solo album Sweet and Nice (Trojan Records, 1974). Both tracks are extremely popular but incredibly, this is the very first time these two gems are issued on a 7" single."

"This release is exceptional for a couple of reasons... 'Fever' and its version 'Influenza Dub' were released together around 1974 in Jamaica only on the Upsetter label under the name Suzan Cardogan. This is therefore the very first release on 7" vinyl of these two Reggae masterpieces outside of Jamaica! Secondly, this is the very first reissue of the original single on 7" vinyl, finally making these two exceptional and popular tracks available again in their original iconic format. The original Jamaican pressings are now quite rare, expensive and highly in demand among collectors and Reggae enthusiasts alike."

"A hidden gem of late-'70s soft rock and AOR sophistication, Craig Dove is a quietly radiant self-titled album that lives at the crossroads of singer-songwriter soul and West Coast studio craft. Originally released in scarce numbers, Dove's lone full-length statement has become a sought-after cult favorite -- a record defined by warm analog textures, mellow grooves, and a voice that carries both vulnerability and ease. With understated arrangements, melodic hooks, and the smooth polish of peakera album-oriented rock, Craig Dove captures a moment when soft rock, blue-eyed soul, and jazztinged pop converged effortlessly. This newly restored edition, licensed from the Numero Group catalog, brings the album back into circulation in faithful presentation, offering a rare chance to experience one of the era's most overlooked treasures in full depth. For fans of private-press soul, AOR deep cuts, and timeless songwriter albums that reveal more with every listen, Craig Dove is a long-overdue return."

"The Art Gray Noizz Quintet is spearheaded by twisted Australian guitar legend Stu-Art Gray, most notoriously known as Stu Spasm of Lubricated Goat, Crunt, Salamander Jim, and The Beasts Of Bourbon. Adding another crazed chapter to an already solidly sordid musical history, The Art Gray Noizz Quintet stars some of the finest scoundrels of the New York City underground scene -- Skeleton Boy of Woman on two-string bass, Nikki D'agostino on sax, and veteran drummer Rich Hutchins of Live Skull providing the savage, swinging beat. A rotating roulette of characters swagger into the second guitar slot as needed, each showcasing their particular specialty -- twang, treble, or atmosphere. Stuart Gray's wayward path through the flashpoints of noise, grunge, and swamp-rock history is well-represented in the Quintet's sound -- chaos with a cinematic edge. Sharing stages with kindred spirits such as The Scientists and Mudhoney got the attention of audiences early on. Their recordings and incendiary gigs throughout the New York scene and beyond soon caught the eye of the infamous Lydia Lunch, and it was only a matter of time before a new collaboration was born. Now, The Art Gray Noizz Quintet collide with the queen of no wave Lydia Lunch on a new two-fisted ten-inch single. Melting the Magazine classic 'Permafrost, and grinding out an apocalyptic version of Iggy Pop's 'Mass Production.' Only on In The Red Records!"
