The Cocoon label celebrates 10 years in the Balearic hot-spot with a 2CD In The Mix edition. The long-time presence of the Cocoon Family in Ibiza has left noticeable imprints in the history of electronic dance music. In The Mix gives a taste of what the clubbers should expect at the "10 Years Of Craziness" parties, featuring a host of exclusive and unreleased tracks. The first CD is mixed by Ali Shirazinia aka Dubfire. Right after taking a bow before the forefathers of dub techno, Basic Channel, the mix begins relatively deep and relaxed, before the Berlin-based Fritz Zander gives the order to dance, with a claustrophobic groove-meets-xylophone monster track. After this, Dubfire pulls the hysteria factor to new ups, using tracks from Sebrok, Rino Cerrone, Minilogue, Tiga, Alessio Mereu, and Paul Ritch in Ali's own remix, and of course, a tribal-hypno masterpiece by Reset Robot -- which was exclusively produced for the CD. Yapacc's melancholic guitar echoes right before the grand finale of the CD. Loco Dice mixes the second CD, aiming to capture the special terrace-vibe of the Cocoon nights. His 70-minute mix is open to all styles of music and oscillates through a highly personal comprehension of house. After Jin Choi's opener, Dice's mix reaches a very hypnotic and warm intensity through Patrick Specke's Wild Pitch connotation and the terrific, playful tribal jazz of Jay Haze & Ricardo Villalobos. This warmth is carried through to the very important tracks by Davide Squillace, Brothers' Vibe and Octave One, and also for those tracks that have been produced exclusively for the CD, such as "Jadajada/Wallshaker," where Reboot & Aaron Carl apply some fresh paint to reduced, tribal techno-soul, whereas Martinez will enter the history of house music, having delivered perhaps the darkest modification of classic house-diva vocals, ever.
