Studio Mule present a reissue of Phew's self-titled debut, originally released in 1981. Phew started her career in Aunt Sally (legendary rock/punk band in Japan one-and-only album released on Vanity Records) and then she has released the single "Finale/Urahara" (1980), produced by Ryuichi Sakamoto on Pass Records. After that, between January and February of 1981, Phew recorded this debut album at Conny Plank's studio. Conny Plank is one of the most important recording producer in the second half of the 20th century. Legendary musicians and Can members Holger Czukay and Jaki Liebezeit joined the recording as well as Yoshitaka Goto, founder of Pass Records and producer of Ryuichi Sakamoto's B-2 Unit (1980). This album sounds like a collaborative album between Can and Phew; Can's German rock sound and Phew's vocals fit perfectly and made very unique worldview. A Japanese masterpiece.
