Rod Poole: Guitar; Sasha Bogdanowitsch: voice. Spontaneous compositions in just intonation for guitar & voice. The first Rod Poole album in a number of years (previous albums recorded for Cortical Foundation, Transparency, Incus, etc.); Poole is one of the most interesting guitarists to develop over the last 20 years, but only a limited amount of documentation has seeped out -- Justguitar is a his new label imprint built to change this. "Mind's Island is the first collaborative release by the duo of Poole and Bogdanowitsch. All selections are first time improvisations with no prior discussion beforehand. This is tonal based improvisation. The use of just intonation creates an abundance of overtones and resonance which allows the musicians to create sounds that are simply not possible with instruments in the standard Western system of 12 tone equal division."
