Sebastian Lexer (piano), Eddie Prévost (percussion), Seymour Wright (alto saxophone). Recorded at The Welsh Chapel, Southwark Bridge Road, London in July and October 2011."The illustration chosen for the front of this CD cover is playfully apt. The Penrose triangle is indeed an impossible form. And, according to conventional wisdom, the making of the music recorded here may, likewise, be considered as attempting the impossible.... Is the music on this CD dysfunctional? Actually, not at all. Seeing the Penrose triangle as a perceptual anomaly is to recognize the human aptitude for cognitive error. Irregularities in other spheres of life are always waiting to trip us in the half-light of normal consciousness. Partial truth is probably as good as it generally gets. But this shouldn't stop us looking, or listening or playing. Maybe it is only through openness to, and engagement with, 'the impossible' that something interesting, meaningful, useful, fundamental and beautiful creeps into view." -- Eddie Prévost
