The Merrritonians is a French combo exploring rocksteady and Jamaican music, the old-fashioned way. For their eponym debut album, Don Cavalli offered them three songs. "A Lonely One" is the opening title and a cover version of French singer Pomme. Rocksteady still captivates the souls and makes the hearts of those who listen to it capsize. A timeless, warm music and the mother of many musical trends, largely inspired by this Jamaican treasure, this rocksteady memorial is a way of paying tribute to and thanking all the musicians, singers and sound engineers who, in such a short period of time, have recorded an impressive number of tracks! Half a century later, rocksteady is still very present in the collective memory but is rarely played live. With this in mind, The Merritonians propose to replay some of the hits from these prolific years. The Paragons, Hopton Lewis, Derrick Harriott, The Gaylads and many others will be there.... Rocksteady revival!

French pianist, jazz vocalist, and songwriter Matthieu Boré grew up surrounded by music and the arts. While his great-grandfather loved to give impromptu renditions of famous opera arias, his father's tastes were more modern and Matthieu's childhood was punctuated by the sounds of Eric Clapton, Bob Marley, and the Stray Cats. At age seven, Matthieu began taking piano lessons, focusing predominantly on classical repertoire. In the 1990s he took his first steps into the music profession, singing in various punk and trip hop outfits, before pursuing his love of 1930s and '40s jazz. In early 2000, the young singer-pianist began playing the Parisian jazz club circuit and a year later, released an entire album of Fats Domino covers. In keeping with his fascination of 1950s R&B music, he issued Doo Wop in 2003. Sometimes On My Own (2007) is inspired by his idols Irvin Berlin, Hoagy Carmichael, and Gershwin. 2009 saw the release of FriZZante!!, an album featuring a blend of covers and his own originals, with full orchestra. Matthieu Boré has performed at festivals and concert venues in both France and around the world, including the Montreal Festival, the Jarasum Festival (Korea), the New Morning, and the Olympia. In 2011, he released a live album recorded at Paris's iconic Duc des Lombards. Roots (2012) was a surprising cocktail -- a strong dose of New Orleans funk, from with Matthieu draws his own nonchalant style, combined with a predilection for acoustic sounds and syncopated grooves. In 2015, Grammy-nominated Leo Sidran produced Naked Songs which explores the idea of paring back songs to their defining elements. In Gumbo Kings (2019), Matthieu pays tribute to Allen Toussaint and The Meters through twelve original songs whilst his most recent release Till The Morning Light (2022) combines Jamaican ska and '60s garage rock influences.

You know what happens when the clock strikes one?! You might have listened to blues with a rhythm and had a lot of fun. You know what happens when the clock strikes two?! Blues With A Rhythm Vol. 2 is what Doghouse & Bone Records have got for you! Oh yes! Blues With A Rhythm Vol. 2, brought to you by the fine collections of Farewell Records from France. These rare recordings have been painstakingly re-released on LP in their original sonic 45rpm glory. Detroit kicks things off with a side released in February of 1962 on the MAH's label. Lee Rogers hits you with "Troubles". Originally a B side, Detroit's Black DJ's preferred it to the A side which was "Walk On By". Lee, who was good friend of Marvin Gaye, buried Gaye's side "Sandman" in the charts which was released about the same time. "Troubles" features the pianist Joe Hunter and sax-man Eli Fontaine. Another B-side makes the grade with Ricky Allen doing "Catch Up With Your Crowd". Allen who came to Chicago in 1960, cut this record for AGE in 1963. Age was an offshoot of the Chief label, which is best known for the amazing blues records they released with Elmore James among others. A killer side released on Fling in 1962 by the elusive Mary "B" will lay you out. "Something For You Baby" is only one of four sides she is known to have recorded with the legendary Harlem record shop owner, and producer, Morgan "Bobby" Robinson at the controls. Legend has it Mary had a very jealous boyfriend who refused to let her go to sessions alone, thus possibly ending a blossoming recording career. Little Jimmy Griffin gives you the side, "If Things Don't Change" on Kansas City's R or "Our" record label, released in 1961. This fantastic record has King Alex and the Untouchables on it as the backing band. Features Lee Rogers, Ricky Allen, Mary "B", Little Jimmy Griffin, Tabby Thomas, Hannah Dean, Calvin and Clarence, El Pauling, Royal Abbit The Royalton, Davey Jones, and Jimmy Dotson and The Blue Boys.

"Dear folks, this is a lifetime project. Collecting the complete Jimmie Widener discography is exemplary because some 78s sides are poor looks, like the Hercules labors, but here we are finely today. I started collecting western-swing in the late '90s and I was quite curious about that very talented artist, that had everything you need to meet success ... Jimmie Widener always had my preference, not only as a guitar player, but also as a singer, his unique voice was so sincere, fresh and swingin' at the same time. I never really quite understood why his career ended nowhere, after three recording sessions at the King Records studio, and what sessions! The cream-of-the-crop of the hillbilly jazz was there! What happened? And why did the King Records wait to put out these 1946 recordings in the early 1950s? We still have no clue... this young man had everything... He is probably the most obscure and undercover talent of the '40s western-swing scene. Not to mention this story of the three same Jimmie Widener is just so hard to believe. So folks, this is my tribute to the one-and-only, Jimmie Widener!" --Rodolphe Guiheux of Doghouse & Bone Records
