"J.J. Cale (July 26, 2013) was an American guitarist, singer and songwriter. His influence as a musical artist has been widely acknowledged by many rock musicians and is considered to be one of the originators of The Tulsa Sound, an amalgamation of blues, rockabilly, country and jazz. Classic songs, written and performed by J.J. Cale, like 'After Midnight', 'Cocaine', 'Call Me The Breeze' and many more were re-recorded by other acts and artists who enjoyed success with them. His collaboration with Eric Clapton on The Road To Escondido won the 2008 Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Blues Album in 2006."

"J.J. Cale's signature laidback, bluesy style of country rock has distinguished him from contemporary early '70s singers. His unique sound shows on his third album Okie (1974), where he merges these influences with gospel. His influence on other artists lead to multiple cover versions of "Got The Same Old Blues" with Freddie King, Eric Clapton, Captain Beefheart, Bobby Bland, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Bryan Ferry all tipping their hats to JJ. Further excellent tracks include 'Rock And Roll Records', 'Okie', 'Everlovin' Woman' and of course 'Cajun Moon'."

"J.J. Cale never recorded a full album until Eric Clapton scored a huge hit with Cale's 'After Midnight'. Encouraged by friend and producer Audie Ashworth, J.J. Cale recorded Naturally to capitalize on the success of his song. He released his debut album in 1972, not knowing this would be the beginning of the so-called Tulsa-sound. A lazy, rolling Boogie that contradicted all the commercial styles of boogie, blues, and country-rock that was popular at the time. This new sound became the blueprint for the adult-oriented roots rock of Eric Clapton and Mark Knopfler, among others. Naturally contains a new version of 'After Midnight' recorded by J.J. Cale as well as the hits 'Crazy Mama' and 'Call Me The Breeze', which was later covered by Lynyrd Skynyrd. Over the years J.J. Cale has written several hits for other musicians and recorded more than fifteen albums which makes him one of the most successful -- and lasting -- singer-songwriters of his generation."

"Troubadour is the fourth album by JJ Cale, released in 1976. Eric Clapton covered the song 'Cocaine' on his 1977 album Slowhand, turning it into one of his biggest hits. Clapton later covered the track 'Travelin' Light' for his 2001 studio album Reptile. 'Travelin' Light' was also recorded by Widespread Panic for their album Space Wrangler in 1988. Producer Audie Ashworth introduced some different instruments for a slightly altered sound on Troubadour. But the album still bears the typical introspective J.J. Cale style we all love so much! 180 gram audiophile vinyl."

Because Music present a reissue of JJ Cale's Closer To You, originally released in 1994. The album was published under the independent French label Delabel and distributed by Virgin Records. Personnel: JJ Cale - vocals, guitar, synthesizer; James Cruce - drums; Tim Drummond - bass; Jim Karstein - drums, percussion; Christine Lakeland - guitar, vocals (background); Bill Payne - keyboards; Don Preston - guitar. CD version comes in a jewel case; includes six-page roll booklet.
"On the two albums that preceded Closer To You, Travel-Log (1989) and Number 10 (1992), JJ Cale adopted a more basic musical approach. This album continues the trend. Cale plays a few songs alone (though the overdubbed parts sound remarkably spare), including the title track. Closer To You finds him electronically treating his vocals, a technique that surprisingly makes him sound as down-to-earth as ever." --All Music

2023 restock. Because Music present a reissue of JJ Cale's Guitar Man, originally released in 1996. Guitar Man is the 12th studio album by JJ Cale. Personnel: JJ Cale - vocals, guitar; Christine Lakeland - guitar, vocals on "Death In The Wilderness"; James Cruce - drums on "Death In The Wilderness". CD version comes in a jewel case; includes six-page roll booklet.
"25 years after his first album, Naturally (1971), JJ Cale created Guitar Man, an album made up of hypnotic grooves forged out of elegantly simple components. The album is largely a solo affair, with only scattered additional accompaniment, such as on the incredible opening tune, 'Death in the Wilderness.' Otherwise, Cale plays every instrument, adding particularly strong guitar work to the mix." --All Music

2024 repress; double LP version. First vinyl edition; 180 gram vinyl; printed inner sleeves; includes CD. Because Music present a reissue of JJ Cale's Live, originally released in 1996. This live album features 14 classics, including "After Midnight", "Cocaine", and "Old Man". All tracks were recorded across several different shows: Carnegie Hall (New York, 1996), The Philharmonic (Munich, 1994), Flynn Theater (Burlington, 1993), The Great American Music Hall (San Francisco, 1994), The Hammersmith Apollo (London, 1994), The Sommerville Theater (Sommerville, 1993), and Park West (Chicago, 1990).
"Cale's live performance style does nothing to quell his reputation for laid-back but pristine guitar playing and reserved Mississippi John Hurt-style delivery. A man who truly appreciates the value of restraint, Cale leaves plenty of room for his immaculate guitar lines, even to the point of irony on an ambling version of the previously insistent 'Mama Don't.' This collection, which was gleaned from an assortment of live shows dating from 1990-1996, finds Cale allowing his songs to unfold organically." --All Music

2023 restock; double LP version. First vinyl edition; 180 gram vinyl; gatefold sleeve with printed inner sleeves; includes CD. A reissue of JJ Cale's To Tulsa And Back, originally released in 2004. The song "These Blues" was used on an episode of Dog the Bounty Hunter. Personnel: JJ Cale - vocals, guitar, synthesizer, banjo, all other instruments; Shelby Eicher - fiddle, mandolin; Christine Lakeland - guitar; Don White - guitar; Bill Raffensperger - bass; Gary Gilmore - bass; Walt Richmond - keyboards; Rocky Frisco - keyboards; Jim Karstein - drums; Jimmy Markham - harmonica.
"On his first studio outing in eight years, the mythical Okie troubadour turns in a solid set of his trademark dusty blues tunes. What is not so typical, as with Travel-Log from 1990, is that Cale steeps himself in technology and evokes the moods and frameworks of music that intersect with the blues or stand in opposition to them. The keyboards, drum loops, and horns on this record are as pervasive as the guitars." --All Music
