EDREAMS 018EP

With a third album, Return To Telepathic Heights (RBINC 004LP), released this year on Gerd Janson's Running Back label, techno outlaw A Sagittariun returns to themes of a space western nature with a closing epilogue, A Fistful Of Bitcoins. An extended player that traverses Tucumcari, Vietnam's Black River, and the ultimate, and final leg, of the journey; to Devils Tower in Wyoming.

A Sagittariun's third album chronicles the journey back to "Telepathic Heights"; an expedition that encounters many obstacles along the way. The feuding parties of the two planets make for a journey of determination and self-discovery for our techno lone ranger that will ultimately deliver him to the sacred site on which "Telepathic Heights" stands. Conceived as a space western soundtrack to the cinematic interpretation of this tale, Return To Telepathic Heights delivers ten chapters that journal the ultimate mission to reach the imposing tower of "Telepathic Heights", where dream telepathy has become the primary communicative tool amongst its peaceful and harmonious community who have opted out of the planetary war that continues to rage, seemingly with no armistice anytime soon. The score fittingly winds its way through the trials and tribulations of this journey, blending minimal and harmonic rhythms, industrial funk, dreamy synth wave, and transcendental techno into the rich tapestry of music that documents the Return To Telepathic Heights. The album features original artwork by Johnny Bruck, fully licensed, and taken from the legendary German science fiction novel series, Perry Rhodan, which ran weekly from the early 1960s, and was the most successful sci-fi book series ever written. Gatefold sleeve.

Repress of A Sagittariun's debut 2011 EP on Elastic Dreams. The Circle Stops Somewhere has been a defining release for the British techno explorer. Now the label represses the original vinyl release that features two amazing MD2 (AKA Mike Dehnert) remixes. Resident Advisor summarized the debut A Sagittariun release in a glowing review: "The Circle Stops Somewhereis definitive driving music, even down to the evocation of onrushing traffic in the form of cold, blurred synth stabs. It's also a nostalgically-observed piece of electronic jazz, the dominant motifs of which transport one into a crepuscular world of uncertainty and disquiet."

Elastic Dreams presents more left-field techno sounds from one of the scene's more unassuming producers; A Sagittariun delivers a new single stamped with his trademark sound aesthetic. The Fahrenheit 451 EP brings together three new productions ahead of a new album later this year. "The Golden Apple" combines brain-scrambling drums, a heavy bassline, and a Sagi-style wormhole riff, whilst "Blue Lotus" throws tropical shapes into a rapid 4/4 stomper, with scattering hats and equatorial ambience giving a unique vibe. A Sagittariun strays into disco territory on "Liebe Tanzen", flitting among modern intergalactic synth riffs, basslines, and sampled disco drums.

A Sagittariun is back with Slightly Ajar EP. "Stingray" combines future techno beats with apocalyptic bass and melodious keys, with an almost early 1980s synth pop vibe to it. "Burning Crystal" is the kind of introverted and deep ambient electronica that shaped Dream Ritual (EDREAMS 001CD/LP, 2013) and Elasticity (EDREAMS 002CD/LP, 2016). "An Infinite Number Of Possibilities" is relentless, frenetic, and funky, as a myriad of warped sounds and riffs flash past the heavy drum work. "720 Degrees" closes with crunchy 808 electro patterns, FM bass, and huge melancholic strings straight-out of the Derrick May rule book.

Bristol based A Sagittariun present their second release for Hypercolour. In "Vanishing Point", big pumping beats and spiraling FX fall aside to a lone breakbeat that ushers in a special breakdown section. Child-like keys and deep synth stabs draw comparisons to retro '80s vibes (think Stranger Things). "The Pathway" keeps things on an all-together straighter tip; an incessant tribal loop weaves and filters around a thunderous kick and shuffling hats, ebbing-and-flowing in A Sagittariun's most club-centric production yet. Matrixxman delivers a superb remix, pushing the original down a long dark tunnel for a growling and reverberating techno overhaul.

A Sagittariun continues to release primarily on his own Elastic Dreams label, and The Magick Box EP features four tracks that come nearly 12 months on from the uncompromising techno of the Contortion/Concrete Walls single (EDREAMS 013EP, 2016) and the second full length album odyssey, Elasticity (EDREAMS 002CD/LP, 2016). Taking in pacey techno cuts "Curviture" and "Kobalt", cruising electro vibes on "Floating On Salt Water" and wigged-out industrial funk on "Bleepanomix", once again "The Archer" delivers a varied collection of new tracks on this EP.

A Sagittariun delivers the three track Oxidize EP for German label Couldn't Care More. While "Heights" is a stripped-down Basic-Channelish techno ride, rough, edgy and with a hint of hypnotic melodies, the title track heads in a quite different direction: still it's raw expressionistic techno, but the flow is ever-changing, mesmerizingly shifting and twisting between hissing beats and enlightened synths. For the remix of "Oxidize" RVDS fires up the acid machine and does it Detroit style, warm and cold, uplifting and melancholic.

Double LP version. Ambient techno exponent A Sagittariun fires off another full-length album transmission on his own Elastic Dreams label. Elasticity is the Bristol-based artist's second long-player and the follow-up to his acclaimed 2013 debut, Dream Ritual (EDREAMS 001CD/LP). Dream Ritual firmly established A Sagittariun as an artist whose musical chops and integrity operate largely outside of the mainstream, and as a producer who chooses to put the music firmly at center-stage while opting to remain relatively anonymous within the music scene. Elasticity marks a return for A Sagittariun follow a trio of singles in early 2015 (for Hypercolour, Secretsundaze, and Elastic Dreams), and fans of the slippery and elastic sounds that hallmarked his debut album will not be disappointed. As A Sagittariun explains, "Elasticity was recorded over quite a short period, but the sketches and ideas have been germinating for some time, so sonically it's very coherent and consistent and moves in a way that I personally like albums to move in, with a narrative and flow that holds you right to the end. The recipe for Elasticity was always to be malleable and pliable with the sounds and tempos; for me it's all about the listening experience, and creating a landscape and a world within that one can really get deep into and explore, it's optimistic and progressive music for the head, heart and feet. I really do advise the listener to don headphones and take the trip with me." Over the album's tracks, and a supporting set of "Transmissions" from the likes of Robert Anton Wilson and Terence McKenna, Elasticity delves into a myriad of textured sounds and pliable rhythms, touching on ambient, industrial, breaks, and dub influences.

A Sagittariun continues to ride the night skies with some heavy doses of cosmically sprinkled techno and kinetic electronica. "Aruba (Overhead Mix)" is a seductive jam of Nuyorican (tech) soul, cloaked in warm synths with a breathy, human quality, and deft melodies to ensure a smooth takeoff for the passengers. "The Code Breaker" channels some enchanting techno moods and themes on a no-gimmicks, no-cheap-thrills, head-and-foot stomper, while "Triangulum" prefers a mechanical rhythm of robotic tech funk, syrupy melodies, and acidic motifs to deliver a dance in outer space.

Continuing to operate on the very outer fringes of the techno and electronica genre, A Sagittariun returns with a new release on Elastic Dreams. Following on from 2013's acclaimed Dream Ritual album and the 2014 single The Jupiter Chronicles EP, the one born under the ninth sign offers up more cosmic techno and astral excursions on the Wish You Were There EP. From the searing techno of "Loopholes" to the heavy break and subaquatic melodies of "The Lathe of Heaven" to the wide-eyed and emotive closer of "Blake's Vision," this is another trio of versatile tracks.

A Sagittariun returns to Elastic Dreams after 2013's incredible debut album, Dream Ritual (EDREAMS 001CD/LP). Having picked up such accolades as "Electronica Album of the Month" (December, MOJO Magazine) and No. 6 Best Album of 2013 (DJ Magazine), A Sagittariun gets right back to business with this eclectic four-track release. "Wave Upon Wave" channels frenzied breakbeats and rolling, acid-like riffs, while "Re-Ignition" and "Ascella" are clearly designed for the dancefloor, with muscular and Teutonic beats underpinning more celestial sounds. "And the Moon Be Still as Bright" is highly emotive and intelligent dance music wrapped up in cloud of shimmering pads.

Double LP version. The shadowy UK techno artist A Sagittariun releases his debut album. Dream Ritual comes off the back of a steady stream of well-received EPs from The Archer on his own Elastic Dreams label, releases that have captured the imaginations of the electronic community for their depth and diversity, where old techno breaks collide with Detroit techno aesthetics, ambient dub sits alongside industrially-charged electro, and many more sound palettes in between. Dream Ritual is a journey through moods and tempos, each track sprinkled with a stargazing quality. Opening track "Sundial" sets the tone, the percussive elements teasing in and out of a melodious, thick analog cloud. "Crystallization" sees A Sagittariun collaborate with veteran guitarist Skip McDonald (Sugarhill Gang/Tackhead/On-U Sound), whose guitar licks have graced Sugarhill classics like "The Message" and "White Lines," as well as working with the likes of James Brown, Afrika Bambaataa, George Clinton, and more. The sprawling, dub-tinged piece evokes shades of Boards Of Canada, spacey guitar licks meet downtown with A Sagittariun's take on ambient dub. The album weaves its way through a heady mix of sounds, be it the old skool breakbeats of "Conquering Lions" and "A Lucid Dream," the driving classic techno sounds of "V4641 Sgr," "The South Node," and "Network Restoration," industrial slabs of dub funk and concentrated jazzy electronica. Dream Ritual represents the versatility of A Sagittariun, and presents a collection of music for the listening experience as opposed to a dancefloor record, hopefully following the lineage of some of the classic techno and electronic albums that have paved the way and most definitely influenced A Sagittariun on this record.
