QUINTESSE 047EP
|
Borrowed Identity makes music nonstop -- when he's not travelling the globe. He enjoys nature as much as playing house, techno, or disco. He lives in the Black Forest region of Germany, which may explain why his music is so dark. His Red Light Jackers EP follows two superb EPs on Quintessentials and features Albert Vogt on "The Spirit."

CCS 098EP
|
Circus Company follows Carlos Nilmmns's True Chemistry (CCS 094EP) with an EP by rising German artist Borrowed Identity (Quintessentials, Fina, Home Taping Is Killing Music, Mistress). "Addictive" leaps out with a sweeping piano hook and subby bassline, while "Trans Trans Trans" brings a purposefully old-school feeling with its stark squarewave synth lines and sleazy vocal groans. Mechanical Soul Brother lends a hand to "The Scene," which piles on the late-night tension with its tightly wound chord stabs and rolling drums, before "Llife" showcases a more eclectic side thanks to a bongo-infused percussive throwdown and an uplifting dose of acid.

Borrowed Identity lives and breathes music. He's unstoppable. He's smooth. His new Sexo Bonito release is again as fat as his last Quintessentials release, that famous Love for Sale (QUINTESSE 035EP). Borrowed Identity fuses techno, house, funk, and more. He's freestyle. And yeah, he's a world champion.

Growing up in the deep south of Germany with multi-ethnic friends and a big interest in many different music genres of the world, Borrowed Identity built his wide knowledge of music. This variety in his musical taste is also the reason why he is working under different aliases, producing a variety of sound from ambient to house to experimental music and everything in-between. Borrowed Identity's debut EP on Quintessentials is another great example of his multi-style approach. You'll find elements of house, disco, techno, ambient and more -- always stamped with a love for music.
