Anton Newcombe -- frontman, songwriter, composer, studio owner, multi-instrumentalist, producer, engineer, father, force of nature -- returns with the Brian Jonestown Massacre's 20th full-length studio album Your Future Is Your Past on his own label A Recordings. The lead track Fudge was released on 30th September. It is 30 years since the release of their first single "She Made Me / Evergreen", released in 1992. As leader of the Brian Jonestown Massacre, Newcombe had already established himself as a visionary songwriter, a man to whom making music wasn't a lifestyle choice or a hipster haircut but the very fabric of existence itself. Instead of saying yes to everything like many of his peers Anton Newcombe was different. He was going to say no to everything. Much of this was documented on the controversial documentary Dig!, one of the best rock documentaries ever made. Brian Jonestown Massacre's shoegazing-tinged debut album Methodrone (AUK 008CD/LP) was released in 1995 and since then numerous bandmembers have joined Newcombe on his sonic escapades, but he has remained the sole constant and creative mastermind. There have been a further 19 albums under the Brian Jonestown Massacre moniker since then, each embarking on their own mind-expanding adventure and exploring the outer realms of rock n' roll; psychedelic rock, country-blues, snarling rock n' roll, blissed-out noise-pop and more. Along the way, Newcombe has established himself as a once-in-a-lifetime talent who saw the direction in which mainstream indie-rock was heading and opted to take the long way round. He's hopped around the globe, from the West Coast to New York, from Manhattan to Iceland, and then to Berlin, where he's lived for 14 years and has two flats, one to live in and one that's been converted into his studio. He goes there six days a week to work and write and record and produce. After a hugely prolific 2010s that saw the release of eight long-players and one mini-album, Newcombe had been going through a period of writer's block when one day he picked up his 12-string guitar and "The Real" (the opening track on previous album Fire Doesn't Grow on Trees) came out of him. After that, they tracked a song every day for 70 days and had two albums ready to go by the end. Joining Newcombe in the studio for The Future Is Your Past were Hakon Adalsteinsson (guitar) and Uri Rennert (drums).

LP version. 180 gram vinyl. Recorded in Berlin and remotely between 2020 and 2021, The Brian Jonestown Massacre returns with their 19th full-length studio album. Fire Doesn't Grow On Trees is the beginning of a thrilling new phase for Anton Newcombe and his band. Joining him in the studio and remotely for this album were Ricky Maymi (guitars), Ryan Carlson Van Kriedt (keyboards), Hakon Adalsteinsson (guitar), Hallberg Daði Hallbergsson (bass), and Uri Rennert (drums). Originally, Newcombe was heavily influenced by The Rolling Stones' psychedelic phase -- the name comes from Stones guitarist Brian Jones combined with a reference to cult leader Jim Jones. But his work in the 2000s has expanded into aesthetic dimensions approximating the UK shoegaze genre of the 1990s and incorporating influences from world music, especially Middle Eastern and Brazilian music.

The Brian Jonestown Massacre burst into 2019 with the release of their 18th full-length album, just seven months after their last one, Something Else (AUK 043CD/LP). The self-titled, nine-track album is released on Anton Newcombe's A Recordings, and it was recorded and produced at Anton's Cobra Studio in Berlin. The album was originally going to be released in September of 2018, but due to a hugely successful global tour -- taking in USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Europe -- the release was delayed. Recorded in early 2018, the album features Sara Neidorf on drums, Heike Marie Radeker (LeVent) on bass, Hakon Adalsteinsson (BJM, Third Sound, Gunman, Holy Ghost) on guitar, and Anton Newcombe on multiple instruments. Also making a guest vocal appearance on "Tombes Oubliées" is Rike Bienert who has sung on previous BJM albums. The band performed songs from the album throughout the European leg of the 2018 tour. Anton Newcombe has been a very busy man over the past few years, having released four critically-acclaimed Brian Jonestown Massacre albums and an EP, one soundtrack album, and two albums with Tess Parks. All releases were fully recorded and produced at Anton's studio. The Brian Jonestown Massacre track "Bon Bon" was used in the 2015 Palm D'Or winner Dheepan. Anton penned the soundtrack for Moon Dogs, a film directed by multi-BAFTA nominated Philip John (Svengali, Downton Abbey, Being Human).

RSD 2017 release. First time vinyl release of The Brian Jonestown Massacre's Pol Pot's Pleasure Penthouse. The only time this album was ever officially released was on cassette on Burger Records (in a limited edition of 500). Recorded in 1990/91 on a four-track at Anton Newcombe's home in San Francisco, Pol Pot's Pleasure Penthouse best described in Anton's own words: "when I left home and moved to San Francisco, first thing on my mind was joining a band... the problem for me was that there were not any bands that would have me or even played the type of music I imagined I wanted to hear... so I decided to start my own... I would make small down payments at pawnshops for gear, buy recording machines, amps, guitars, whatever. Within three months of teaching myself the seven folk chords I use nonstop to this day, I had already taught a few new friends how to play as well and we were off. I used to make up songs everyday on the four-track just to teach myself how to write... I understood what I liked about music, I just didn't know how to pull it out of the ether and bring them into being. At the same time, I would make demo tapes and share them with friends... endless demo tapes... I would send them to magazines and record labels with no return address, just for the fuck of it. It was never my intention to actually release this music... for instance, if I came up with a country song, I would finish it just to learn more about writing... I didn't want to be in a classic country group, this is a document of my learning process. Good times... this album is one such tape from 1990/91, I can't remember. Enjoy." Available here on 180 gram blue colored vinyl.

2022 repress on black vinyl; double LP version. 180 gram Don't Get Lost was fully recorded and produced at Anton Newcombe's new Cobra Studio in Berlin. It is the 16th full length release from The Brian Jonestown Massacre. It was recorded from March 2016 to October 2016 with band members Ricky Maymi, Dan Allaire, Collin Hegna, and Ryan Van Kriedt. Saxophonist Emil Nikolaisen, from the Norwegian band Serena-Maneesh, joins the band, and there are vocal performances from Tim Burgess (Charlatans), Tess Parks, and Shaun Rivers. A new dynamic is heard on Don't Get Lost, mixing a shoegaze and psychedelic sound with more experimental twists on some tracks you might hear from Public Image Limited's Metalbox (1979), Primal Scream , or even Ornette Coleman. 14 tracks that will twist-and-turn through the known, and the unknown, Brian Jonestown Massacre. Anton Newcombe has been a very busy man these past two years, kicking off with the critically acclaimed Brian Jonestown Massacre album Revelation in May 2014 (AUK 030CD/LP). After a successful UK and European tour, the BJM followed this up with the + - EP in November of the same year (AUK 031EP). 2015 saw the release of Musique de film imaginé in April (AUK 032CD/LP); an imaginary film soundtrack album featuring the track "Bonbon" which has, ironically, been used in Dheepan, the Palme d'Or winner at the Cannes Film Festival of 2015. In June, Anton and Tess Parks embarked on a well-received tour of the UK and Europe to support the release of I Declare Nothing (AUK 120CD/LP). Anton finished 2015 with a BJM mini-album release entitled Mini Album Thingy Wingy (AUK 033-10, 033CD/LP). In 2016, the band released two singles and the critically-acclaimed Third World Pyramid (AUK 036CD/LP). The band have been touring the world since November 2015, playing Australia, New Zealand, and then, in 2016, USA, Canada, Europe, Chile, and Argentina.

Dropping Bombs On The Sun (UFO Paycheck) is the third and final single from the forthcoming Brian Jonestown Massacre album, Don't Get Lost. "Dropping Bombs On The Sun (UFO Paycheck)" feature vocals by Tess Parks; This track - a mellow flow of strings and keyboards, with smoky vocals - gives an idea of the changing rhythms of the Brian Jonestown Massacre for the forthcoming album. "Geldenes Herz Menz" features Pete Fraser (The Pogues, New Young Pony Club) on saxophone. Dan Alliare (drums) and Ricky Maymi (guitar), from the Brian Jonestown Massacre, play on both tracks.
