"Desmond Dekker recorded some of his best-known songs together with his backing group the Aces (consisting of Wilson James and Easton Barrington Howard). Their debut album 007 (Shanty Town) includes their single of the same name, which made him Jamaican music's first 'outernational' superstar, reaching #14 on the UK charts. You'll hear how the ska music from the mid-60s developing into the rocksteady sound. This is where it all started before Desmond became the international star, famous because of his international hits, such as 'Israelites' (1968) and 'It Miek' (1969). 007 (Shanty Town) is available as a limited edition of 750 individually numbered copies on magenta color vinyl."

Reissue, originally released in 1968. Following hot on the heels of their Jamaican debut album, 1967's 007 (Shanty Town), Desmond Dekker and the Aces were ready for Action! the following year. Originally released in 1968 on Beverley's Records and recorded Wirl Studio, like its predecessor, Action! bundled up another slew of the quintet's recent hits, as did its successor, 1969's The Israelites. All were released only in Jamaica, and the fact that "007" reappeared on the Action! set tells you just how seriously producers took the album market on the island. Even so, with its mix of rocksteady and early reggae hits, Action! has remained a popular album, and has been reissued internationally on several occasions. Without any doubt a rock steady music lover's delight.
