Dense & Pika (Alex Jones and Chris Spero) present their first release on Hypercolour, opening with "Lynn," which carries all their trademarks as heard on a quartet of well-received singles for Scuba's Hotflush label. The punchy, brooding backbeat springs into life with vocal stabs, drop-outs, reverse FX, and industrial-sized glitches. "Tantrum" evokes shades of Nitzer Ebb and other '80s exponents of the mechanical funk sound, while "Sycophant" interweaves a grizzly bassline and persistent cowbell with pitch-shifting synths and sci-fi loaded effects. "Hitting the Ceiling" closes the EP with a speaker-shattering kick drum, wooly hats, an ominous vocal stab, and supernatural synths.
