Destination Moon present a reissue of Dion's Runaround Sue, originally released in 1961. The son of a vaudeville entertainer, Dion DiMucci's debut 45, "The Chosen Few", was a local hit backed by the maudlin Timberelanes, prompting him to form the more authentic Belmonts with friends from his Bronx neighborhood. Numerous hits followed, including "A Teenager In Love" and "Where Or When", and despite his heroin addiction, solo work was even bigger, the million-seller, "Runaround Sue", topping the US pop charts in late 1961, followed by signature tune "The Wanderer". The resultant Runaround Sue LP is quintessential Dion, his strong tenor tackling a range of cover tunes, as well as inspired originals like "Lonely World", capturing the man at his confident best, approaching his peak period of stardom. Color vinyl.

The Bronx's own Dion DiMucci, best known to the world mononymously as Dion, absolutely ruled the airwaves of the late 1950s and early 1960s. Following the success of his first group, Dion & The Belmonts, DiMucci struck out on his own in 1960. Though his first solo efforts failed to hit, Dion moved with the times and, seeking a sound more oriented toward rock 'n' roll, came up with "Runaround Sue." The track topped the charts in late '61 and was followed by the number two hit, "The Wanderer." Both are included here along with 10 more classic cuts from a man with more talent and swagger than just about anybody could ever hope for. If this album doesn't make you want to grab your girl and get on the dance floor, you ought to check your pulse. Just remember, though, keep away from Runaround Sue.
