Dubblestandart & Firehouse Crew present -- with the deepest respect to the originators -- a limited selection of reworks of reggae classics. The album focuses on works that have been pivotal for the inspiration of Dubblestandart's bandleader Paul Zasky since day one, when forming the band. Today this music is considered classic reggae, what this little island called Jamaica has provided in content and creation, especially roots reggae of the late '60s, '70s, and '80s. This doesn't even scratch the surface of the political actuality of many of these songs, which seem to respond to today's world of unrest as if they were written yesterday, coming straight from the heart of all those much-loved and admired originators.

Dubblestandart present Dub Realistic. Of course, Dubblestandart have been keeping a version of the dub flame alive for the last two decades, their formation coinciding with the phase in which Jamaican dub was on the way out. Formed in 1988 as a reaction to the stagnant Austrian pop scene, the group was heavily inspired by the Black Ark, On-U Sound and Jah Shaka, infusing such dub influences within their heady blend of hardcore reggae and new wave, which soon brought them into the European public's consciousness. Soon, they were so in demand as to be backing Lee Scratch Perry on the Austrian stage, followed by stints with dub poet Lilian Allen and ace toaster, Dillinger. At present, they have already issued over ten albums, collaborating with Ken Boothe, Sly & Robbie, Mad Professor, Marcia Griffiths, Chezere, Caron Wheeler (Soul II Soul) all the while working new technological dimensions into their sound, and although they have undertaken a dub tour of the US west coast, Canada, India and Russia. Dubblestandart's cavernous excursion into deep dub, chilling dub and dubble-tough dub are willed into perfection with Dub Realistic. Dubblestandart's handling of this mission has been exemplary: the productions are pleasingly individualistic, retaining plenty of originality and professionalism without seeming stoic, dull or contrived. Opening Dub Realistic with a slowed down adaption of Massive Attack's massive hit "Safe From Harm" presents Amanda Bauman going deeper, followed by a journey into the Middle East ("Arab Dub") & further examples of how we, as musicians, digest the world around us ("Earthshaker"). Populistic tendencies at home ("Welcome To Europe") or "effects" of the refugee crisis ("The Boat Stops") triggering questions: What is the role of us as artists ("Not Controlled by the Artist") and how do we contribute in a positive way? From Kingston/Jamaica, reggae & soul singer Tanice Morris appears on "Let It Flow" and "Dub version" and from Cairo/Egypt, Aisha E dubs on Bob Marley's "Sun Is Shining."

The voyage continues with Austrian dub band Dubblestandart's In Dub, a collaboration with the best and top remixers on the scene, including Adrian Sherwood from London himself -- mastermind behind the finest in dub and the legendary On-U Sound, as well as Rob Smith from Bristol (also known as dubstep producer RSD, he was also part of the legendary Smith & Mighty team). A very unique and surprising session is coming out of Vienna by Paul Zasky and Robbie Ost, the main active protagonists of Dubblestandart. Their responsibility for half of the dub session is amazing and a labor of love with greetings from the King Tubby empire. The album also features bits and pieces from outstanding and very creative artists such as Jazzmine Tutum (Jam-Zion Train), Marcia Griffiths (Jamaica), Amanda Bauman (USA), Saria Idana (USA), Lee "Scratch" Perry, David Lynch, Hoda Mohajerani (UK/Iran) Saria Idana (US), and others. Since 1990, Dubblestandart has released 13 full-length albums, several 12 and 7" EPs, and has featured on more than 70 compilations. Their collaborating artists list includes Lee Perry, Ari Up, David Lynch, Ken Boothe, Adrian Sherwood, Sly & Robbie, Dillinger, Anthony B., Elephant Man, William S. Burroughs, Mad Prof., and many others. Performing shows all over Euroland as well as Canada and the U.S. saw them even perform live in Central Park NYC with Lee Perry and Ari Up during the legendary Summer Stage concerts in 2009.Their productions with NYC's Subatomic Sound System labels are known as an inspirational basis for cutting edge and progressive bass music. Since 2011, Paul Zasky, Emch (Subatomic Sound System) and Larry McDonald (The Skatalites) have been Lee "Scratch" Perry's exclusive backing band for all U.S. dates, playing more than 30 shows across the country including the legendary Coachella Festival in Nevada in 2013. "We did not invent dub. It was brought to life by the great dub pioneers of Jamaica way back in the late 1960s.Therefore we shall produce with the deepest respect for its true originators. What you hear are our versions, filtering current vibes and atmospheres of a planet on the edge. From the heart of Europe. Dub knows no color, no race, no religion. It won't support any political system or ideology."

Dubblestandart proudly presents album #13. With Woman in Dub, a collaboration with singers from all over, their dub voyage continues -- a colorful journey that ranges from lover's reggae, dub poetry to R&B and indie-pop vibes. Starting with Chezere from Barbados (Don Letts & Screaming Targets/Big Audio Dynamite/Urban Species/The Roots), the album opens with a smooth reggae song followed by reggae legend Marcia Griffiths' (Jam) tempting "Holding You Close." AmA Tone seduces with her indie-pop influence as the wide range of crossover compositions unfolds. Whether Jazzmine Tutum (Jam-Zion Train) tells not to "Worry What People Think About You" or as Coshiva's song says, "what it is all about?" "With Music We Communicate." Dubblestandart's approach remains quality first: Their massive studio in Vienna is full of classic equipment, a 48-track mixing desk, and loads of outboard gear to build mixes for the audiophile. Have a listen to Kiras reshape of Marianne Faithfull's "Broken English" classic and you know what's happening. Also included is acclaimed singer Caron Wheeler (Soul II Soul) as well as to Hoda Mohajerani and Saria Idana with some profound content straight from their heart. Since 1990, Dubblestandart have released 12 full-length albums, several 12" and 7"s, and have featured on more than 70 compilations. Their collaborating artists list includes Lee Perry, Ari Up, David Lynch, Ken Boothe, Adrian Sherwood, Sly & Robbie, Dillinger, Anthony B., Elephant Man, William S. Burroughs, and Mad Prof, amongst others. Lovely lyrics and melodies perfectly melt with Dubblestandart's 21st century urban roots beats, into the great Woman in Dub experience.

2007 release. From Vienna, the hometown of Mozart and Haydn, Dubblestandart started in the early '90s and chose dub music as their musical lodestar. Working as a backing band for Dillinger, Lee Perry, Topcat, Lilian Allen and Ari Up on her European and American tour, they've finely honed their live skills. Their live sets are like sessions -- with the style responding to the vibes of the audience -- interacting with them while dubbing. In 2006, during their Canadian Festival circuit, they made an overwhelming appearance on stage in collaboration with the Sugarhill backing band (Doug Wimbish, Skip McDonald, Keith LeBlanc) and Adrian Sherwood on the mixing desk -- aka Tackhead or Little Axe. Immigration Dub is their 10th album, a far-out world of dream dub-rockadelic and sonic insanity. Featuring Ari Up, Gudrun, a remix by the legendary "mash-up" reggae producer JStar from London, the one and only Ken Boothe, Devon D & Truman Chewstick from Kingston/Jamaica, 3gga from Nigeria, Doug Cox, and Todd Butler .

"Out of Vienna -- Dubblestandart is working since the early 90's for Dub Music as their musical direction -- combining mid-European inspirations with their love for reggae music. We've been in the studio together with Mikey Dread, Sly & Robbie, Dillinger a. o. to work on tracks that should redefine the meaning of dub. Listen to hybrid dub versions with musicians from the international dub community, showing the dub planet is a growing culture. Dub music today appears to be attractive to the alternative-minded, to people continually curious about the other side of the story, the side that isn't told by world leaders, omnipresent and terrorizing news media and big industry. Tracks like 'Terrorists & Inhalers' (feat. Keith Le Blanc), 'Evil Empire' or 'Watch The Future' (feat. Camel) have been inspired by a critical mind. We don't consider our music being just easy listening stuff, more than that our sound shall give an impression about the real power of dub, healing the western world mind fuck with music. Because this is our job and dub reggae music is our roots. (listen to Mikey Dreads/Mad Professors version of 'Dub Is The Roots!') Rhythm tracks for 'Heavy Heavy Monster Dub' and 'Preemptive Dub' were laid down by Sly & Robbie. Our partner Devon D supervised the Jamaican part of the production. When the tapes were returned to Vienna, we finished the songs at Go East Studio, providing the original Dubblestandart sound, inspired by Europe's melting vibes. By then Dreadzone and Manasseh remixed these tracks. Seven Dub from Paris also added a wonderful 'Preemptive Dub' version. Real urban dub has been contributed by Sounds From The Ground from London, who worked on 'Evil Empire' and '10 Tons Of Dope'. This is big city dub style, deeper than deep. Long time was spent traveling and preparing this record. In New York, London, Paris and Kingston people were met and we took in their feelings about life and love, their ways of looking at the changing music scene and last but not least their concern about the future of this planet. (Where will the so-called leaders lead us to?)We now present you with the culmination of this journey: 15 smooth dub tracks, that shall make u feel good and positive about life."
